  1. Ive noticing lately just how much our homelife has improved since going carnivore. I attribute this to better health and weight and improved stability with our emotions, reactions and decision making. Getting dinner used to be painful and I can't count the number of times I ended up eating a bag of chips or a chocolate bar (or both or more) and calling it dinner. On carnivore we have moved into a gentle routine of early morning coffee with heavy cream and later our afternoon meal which we prepare together. We are experiencing actual peace and healthy personal relationships and home environment now that did not exist previously. And I am really grateful❤️
  2. Welcome David. I have found this group helpful and I hope you will too.
  3. My brain on carnivore: I can think clearer, am more focused and catch onto things much quicker. Its like operating a new computer over the old one on its way out. I used to suffer from panic attacks and anxiety which have almost disappeared. I sleep better and wake up refreshed most days instead of groggy with brain fog. I test myself with a pattern recognition game in a timed space and I can tell if I'm having an off day. Its also been a while since I walked in a room and couldn't remember what I went in there for. And something else changed, I have moments of real joy and happiness. I cant remember when I last felt that way.
  4. Welcome! Although I lost initial weight relatively fast, weight loss has not been quick for myself or the other member in my family also doing this. But it has been slow and steady, which gives my skin a chance to recover better as well as I lose the weight. I understand slower weight loss is also less muscle loss so that's a bonus too. I eat strictly to carnivore except for coffee with heavy cream (no other cheats or other snacks). I had to find a balance of protein to fat and salt that worked better for me and adjust the amount I was eating to lose weight. I also discovered I handle animal meat fat better than butter and we are moving to a better quality of the butter we do use as they arent all the same. Most days I eat one meal and I try not to eat after about 4 PM as when I eat seems to matter. I have gone through a number of plateaus where weight loss slowed or even stopped, but I was also going through body repair and I noticed my shape and muscles were changing as well. I have lost 33 lbs to date and my old clothes hang on me. Very encouraging. I do supplement with things like D, potassium, magnesium and zinc just because of many years of processed foods and sugar compromising my ability to absorb nutrients, but plan to see if I can gradually phase that out. My activity is increasing as I feel lighter and better which will definitely improve everything all round. I'm at about 7 months and I expect to be at my first main weight goal and health goal realistically at a 1.5 years given my age and state of health. This has definitely been an exercise in patience for me, but the positives have been nothing short of wonderful. Well worth it. I'm not going back to the other way of eating. So with some experimentation I hope you can discover what works best for you.
  5. Welcome back. If Im honest, the only reasons Ive managed to stick with it and not fall off is because I don't have a lot of years left and I want to be healthy enough to enjoy them and I don't ever want to feel the way I did before. I wish you all the best. You are in the right place.
  6. Welcome! From what I understand results may vary depending on your state of health when you begin. I'm at month 6 and am slowly losing the weight having reached many of my goals like those on your list as well as some unexpected recovery from issues I didn't even know I had. There have been a number of recovery and healing plateaus for me and that's OK because it took me years to get in this condition. It gets better and better. All the best to you.
  7. Hi Sosa, My health was poor when I started as well. I opted to up my protein and gradually remove the carbohydrates. The last thing to go was honey in my coffee. On carnivore my body seemed to be having absorption problems so I opted for supplements. As my health improved and I healed I dont seem to need them as much. All the best to you, I hope things get better fir you too as you heal.
  8. Hi Jason. Welcome. Like you I am interested in learning and I do this with my own research, people sharing their experience and my own experience. I started transitioning around the beginning of last February and had pretty much become carnivore by March. So it is over 6 months for me now. The health benefits and weight loss have been very rewarding. All the best to you in your journey too!
  9. Welcome Helen! Glad to see you here.
  10. 4 slices of roast beef made into 2 sandwiches (meat and butter only with 2 slices meat with butter inbetween). These meat sandwiches (pork or beef) are my favorite thing right now.
  11. Yesterday I listened to my best friend go on about a number of health issues they are experiencing and also some severe immune system and healing challenges a younger family member is going through. Although I am medication free and experiencing improvements to my health on carnivore, if I try to talk about how good I am doing they dont want to hear. It'slike they completely turn off.
  12. Welcome! Nice to meet you. Its so encouraging to see others here sharing their experiences.
  13. I remember years ago when I first realized that doctors were fallable as are we all. I also realized that they were very helpful for many things like helping us mend from broken legs. But I also realized it was up to me to keep me alive. Looking back I know that many medical interventions would probably not have been necessary at all had I started carnivore as a teenager when I first had problems with food.
  14. When we just need a little snack or especially when we had cravings still we kept strips of cooked bacon in the fridge (we cook them on a baking sheet and then they keep in the freezer once cooked as well). We always cook extra for our meal and have leftovers available. Pork is more reasonably priced where we are so we offset cost with that and hamburger. We avoid hamburger patties here because they can contain fillers (carbs). We tolerate the pork well. We no longer use spices except for salt, pepper and garlic so we save money on all the extra sauces and spices we used to buy. Also very little waste on this diet so we save money there as well.
  15. I remember when I was a child I could take naps and wake up refreshed. As an adult I slowly lost that ability and for the most part stopped napping. The reason was that I would usually wake up groggy, sometimes disoriented, with headache or ill with nausea and definitely not well rested. I realized just recently that I can now take a normal nap and wake up refreshed after an hour or two. This is new and only since being on carnivore. Such a simple thing but I'm so grateful.
  16. We found these kinds of recipes very helpful when transitioning to full Carnivore, particularly good for variety.
  17. My eating habits and health were poor when I started. I totally agree with you all that where you start is important when gaging progress. And sometimes I experience what appear to be setbacks, but I've realized it's my body trying to heal itself. Things improve month by month and this is perhaps one of the greatest lessons in patience and being kind to my body that I have ever experienced. I am so grateful for everyone being here.
  18. Welcome! It's a journey well worth taking. Glad to see you here.
  19. We found a local butcher where we can purchase our hamburger. It is more than Costco but we find we get a better yield from it per pound. We can also get local-sourced fresh beef liver so we are planning on making our own liver pate (we won't eat liver otherwise😄) using a carnivore pate recipie we found online. We can also purchase 1/4 and 1/2 sides of local beef.
  20. About month three with the weight loss I started seeing health problems that had been hidden by the excess body weight previously. I guess I was becoming so sick on my old diet that I was past being able to tell what was normal anymore. Months four to five has been about discovering the damage and healing. I am 29 lbs lighter and have about 20 lbs to go for my frame. I look forward to increasing activities as it comes off. I can actually take deep breaths with clear lungs now, less body pain and can visibly see muscle coming back.
  21. If I knew my source of meat I might feel safer about eating raw, but I'm even uncomfortable with cooked right now. I've found a local butcher so our beef supply is much better so that's progress. The stuff from the large stores was making the two of us in our household nauseous.
  22. Two slices of bacon in the morning, and later sliced pork roast with pan drippings and melted butter and 1/2 avocado.
  23. I did use honey initially until I understood how on a carnivore diet, fat is the main fuel source, while on a typical diet, carbohydrates are the body's preferred energy source. So I stopped using it. And yes, I believed what they said about honey originally so your clip made me smile. Thanks!
  24. Hi Kate! Good to see your commitment to seeking better health. I identify with suffering from sugar addition in whatever form it took and never understood the need for corks in a wine bottle or bag clips on chip bags. So basically I understand my relationship with sugars and carbohydrates in very unhealthy. So when I weigh the benefits against loss of my new eating plan, I find the benefits far outweigh any extremely temporary satisfaction of going off my meal plan.
