  1. No picture because I demolished it before I thought of a picture Had a bowl of pan fried prawns with a generous amount of melted garlic butter and some sea salt. I look forward to this dish every week! Pan friend salmon later, or maybe some ribeye... ohhhh, maybe both!
  2. I find that when I start the switch from a heroin/sugar diet to a ketogenic one, I can be somewhat ravenous! The cravings result in me eating about 50+% more for 1-2 days. For me, as long as what I eat is keto, then it's net positive because I'll be in ketosis in a few days, and reaping all the benefits. I find things like cold cut meats (salami, chorizo, prosciutto ham, etc.), Biltong, Droewors, etc. are fantastic for those transition days when cravings pop up. I echo Geezy's encouragement... Well done so far! Keep it up and kick that addiction!
  3. Today I took my sister and niece out for BBQ food. They love carbs so I gave them the carbs that came with my food). I had the slow cooked ribs, brisket, sausages, chicken wings, and pulled pork. Needless to say, this was a treat haha Pic is from their social media, but pretty much what I ate.
  4. How much do you reckon it cost you to fire that grill up for your steak? Cheap to run?, or is it just worth it for the taste? I'm going to get one when I move to a place that has a garden.
  5. Ooooh... That looks nice! Pork rinds? I might need to try this at some point!
  6. Good luck with the surgery bud!
  7. Sorry to hear you feel like crap bud. What's done is dont though! As long as you are back to eating right again then you are back on the winners path again. No road is a straight line
  8. I decided that I didn't want to cook today and instead treated myself to an Afghan mixed grill (takeaway). It's was delicious! Hopefully there wasn't many uninvited inflammatory passengers in the food
  9. At least it was carnivore/keto food. So as far as slip ups go, it could have been far worse. You got this!
  10. No, that's not what I mean Maybe it's the pain meds warping my ability to communicate. I was wondering if people on carnivore experience LESS swelling due to the diet.
  11. Why am I sensing negative vibes from this post? Cheese, pork ribs, eggs, hot sauce, beef, bacon... sounds like a win to me!
  12. Thanks for the reply mate, and sorry to hear about your NMO/SD. Though that's great that your inflammation issues have gone! Since posting this I remembered that I have fluid retention on both my legs (my socks make big impressions on my legs, no matter how loose), with it being particularly bad in my right leg where I had the DVT a few years back and it damaged the vessel in the leg, resulting in the fluid build up. So I guess if my earlier logic was correct, then I wouldnt be seeing so much fluid retention in the leg either. I guess even something as amazing as ketosis/carnivore diet has it's limits
  13. Anyone know if being on carnivore/keto diet translates to an significant change in how much or how long we swell for? I had an Epigastric (I believe) Hernia repair on Sunday and I was thinking that maybe I wouldn't swell up as much, or at least would not swell for as long as I would if not in ketosis. My assumption was based on how frequently I pee/expel fluid when on keto and how susceptible I am to dehydration as a result. From my POV, my stomach is still pretty swollen, but it's possible that it's due to me aggravating it due to moving around and doing things. Any insight?
  14. 5 egg omelette with bacon and grated cheddar cheese enjoyed with a bit of soft garlic cheese .
  15. Haha, it's a place in the UK. And with all the things going on here lately you'd be best to avoid the country, not just the facility I'm home now anyway, so all's well that ends well! I've had a nice feed of Cebo de Campo Iberico ham Bringing this back to food, and for the record, I don't think the Cebo de Campo ham is worth the increased price compared to the de Cebo. It's nice, but not noticeably more than de Cebo which is $30 cheaper.
  16. Worse! It's dehydrated egg I just had a nice chat with the kitchen lady. She's not impressed either. Told me all meals are "meal for 1"... basically a TV dinner. Rehydrating the eggs isn't what's bothering me about the eggs though. I bet they are the cheapest caged hens with dramatically less nutrition. Which blows my mind that in all places to serve nutritionally lacking and outright harmful food, its a hospital doing it. I'm not in long enough for a cooler to be useful. Maybe if I knew they would keep me, but I was under the impression that I arrived at 10am yesterday and then left later that day.
  17. Round 2... FIGHT! Still in hospital this morning and was asked what I'd like for breakfast (keep in mind, this is from the private insurance patients menu). I asked for a simple egg, bacon and sausage. What arrived was egg, beans and a vegetable sausage... Madness! What is going on in the world!? They even write in the menu to encourage you to reduce your carbon footprint by eating vegan/veggie! I sent the food back as I lack patience in general, and even moreso considering I haven't had any nutrition since the night before last. Long story short, I got eggs and bacon I even ate some butter with it. Delicious. Breakfast of champions!
  18. Definitely do! Even something like a packet of salami style fatty meat (or whatever you are into). You'll be the best fed person in there! Haha Good luck with your op buddy! I hope it and your recovery go smooth. I was told I could go home but then today they realised I live alone so understandably want me to stay a night. I'm going to keep an emergency cure dried meat in my bag at all times in future
  19. If heaven exists, it exists in that dish!!
  20. Currently in hospital for a day surgery Hernia Op, and to say I had hassle trying to get food is an understatement. Keep in mind this is private health insurance too! Told em no carbs, to which she replied "how about a sandwich"! I shit you not!!! Haha In an attempt to meet them more than half way I asked if I could have a few boiled eggs. They said there was none in stock... Then I asked for some cheese or just meat slices... none in stock! Only for one of the nurses knew I was about to bounce - freshly rearranged insides or not - she was able to sort something for me. They called this (picture) an omelette, but it tasted like microwaved and powdery. It still filled a hole and I appreciate the nurse having to step in to sort it since the questionable cook couldn't. Looking forward to getting home to my ribeye and eggs tomorrow Ps: I love nursing staff. They are awesome!
  21. Went to a Turkish place yesterday with friends after the football. Got the mixed grill and MAN was it good! Various lamb cuts/cooks and some juicy chicken. I did eat the salad that came with it in part because it was expensive and I wanted my money's worth but also for the fibre as the meat wasnt very fatty. Currently I have a whole chicken in the oven seasoned with peri peri salt. My mouth is watering at the thoughts of peeling off that crispy skin!
  22. Thanks for the kind words Bud! For too long I WAS one of those not willing to do what was needed! Thankfully I seem to have found great motivation in the past few months and the results are encouraging me to continue. People just need to avoid giving up... What's that saying?... if you throw enough mud at the wall, eventually some will stick. Gotta keep trying man!
