  1. I chose a pellet smoker for ease and convenience as it is my first smoker. It was super easy, I am looking forward to doing wings and Turkey as well. Smoked is the only way I have ever really enjoyed turkey, my uncle usually smokes one for Thanksgiving.
  2. The roasts came out great! I cooked them to 204 degrees so they turned out like briskets. I had some plain the first day, in scrambled eggs yesterday and I am planning on making a soup with some today.
  3. So I started OMAD last Monday because I was eating too much still and the junk and sugar cravings were gone. It worked well, down 11lbs this week! I am pretty sure that is my biggest loss in a week ever. Most of the days I was not hungry until it was time to eat again but twice I got really hungry about 4 hours before it was time to eat. I am still figuring out how much to eat to keep me satiated. I obviously have not over eaten this week. My only cheat this week has been a small spoon of peanut butter after my meal. I know I need to eliminate that but its kind of been like a signal that my meal is over, kind of like a dessert. Very happy with the result though!
  4. The last couple of weeks I first gained back most of the weight I lost in week 1, then stayed the same week 3. On Monday I started OMAD and it has been going well. Its after 4pm here and I last ate at 4pm yesterday and I am not ready to break my fast, but I have about 3 lbs of bacon in the oven for today and the next week for side dishes. I also just purchased a Zgrills pellet smoker and I put it together today and I am doing the initial burn off right now. I have 2 3+lb chuck roasts I am going to smoke starting early tomorrow morning. I am planning on meal prepping using the smoker to make large quantities of meat so I will have enough for many days worth of meals. I am excited about the smoker, I have never smoked anything before but I could use a new hobby. As a side note I went to an amazing concert on Tuesday night! Ben Fuller, Leanna Crawford, We the Kingdom and Zach Williams headlining. What a fantastic show! God has been really good to me lately.
  5. I worked outside today and it was chilly and windy so I decided to make some soup. I love Runzas on a cold day so I decided to make a soup that would taste something like a Runza and I really nailed it! 2Lbs hamburger 4oz cream cheese 8oz shredded mozzarella cheese 1/2 cup heavy cream 32oz Beef broth 3 tbls parmesan cheese 4oz can of sauerkraut, drained. Brown the hamburger and add in cream cheese and broth, stir until combined and let it heat over med heat until boiling. Add in shredded cheese and the parmesan, stir until cheese is blended in. Add in the sauerkraut and heavy cream heat until simmering. I was shocked at how much it tasted like runza filling, it was wonderful!
  6. So I guess I am going more a ketovore route for the first 3 weeks to a month to first kick my sugar addiction. I for sure want to do carnivore, but I want to make sure I succeed and I actually have been craving veggies more than sugar this first week and I have been giving in to them. Green beans, cabbage and mushrooms are the extent of it but I ate them a lot more then I had planned. I decided I would go ahead and do ketovore for a few weeks, as keto is more what I have done in the past and it seems like my body has no issues dropping the sugar. I feel very fortunate that I don't get the horrible withdraw symptoms a lot of people get when starting low carb diets. I did carnivore for about 6 weeks almost a year ago and I lost a lot of weight fast and felt good, but I gave in too fast and fell off the wagon very badly. I have been eating so much sugary processed crap I am surprised I didn't have serious issues as I am a type 2 diabetic. I think what saved me is I went from 420 lbs to 240 lbs over a couple years and I was actually down to 15% body fat, probably my lowest body fat since I was 10 years old. Over those couple of years I exercised a lot (you have a lot of free time in prison) and my diabetes completely went away. This last year my A1C peaked at 7.8 which is not good, but not near as bad as it should have been for my weight and what I was consuming. I dropped 5lbs this first week and my legs are already no longer swollen and the muscle definition has come back in my calves. Down to 317, my first goal is to get below 300 and start jogging again. I hate running with a passion, but man it felt so good when you were done with a jog and knew you actually did something.
  7. Well I have been absent from these forums for about a year and its because I fell off and bad. I have gained back about 40 lbs and I am miserable enough I need to start this again. I know it will be hard but enough is enough and I am going to do it. I am going to drink water, black tea and coffee with a bit of cream. I am also allowing mushrooms and a few green beans. I know this is not really allowed in this diet but I am trying to be successful long term this time, I think I went too extreme last time and it burned me out. Having the mushrooms/green beans with my meat I think will help that and I won't do it every day, maybe 1-2 times a week. I will be heading to Sam's club this week and I am going to have them cut me some nice chuck steaks and I will grab a few ribeye steaks to have once a week as well as some hamburger and pork steak. I am looking forward to getting back to it!
  8. I don't ever want to give up my coffee. It's my only vice and I absolutely love every aspect of it. It's not a caffeine thing I just love the taste and smell.
  9. I use to be a bad diabetic before I lost a lot of weight. I was diabetic for almost 20 years and the last 7 or so I was using crazy amounts of bothe fast and long acting insulin, sometimes as much as 350 units a day. I would try lowering protein and raising fat. Use Loseit or another app to track what you eat and keep your fat to protein ratio at least 70/30. Don't eat after dinner and make sure dinner is at least 3-4 hours before bed. Metformin is made to help with dawn syndrome which it sounds like is your issue.
  10. After 5 weeks my clothes are already fitting better and in the case of my m pants a little loose. I am back to 2x shirts and I feel a ton better. As of this morning I am down 24lbs. The only thing that is not quite right yet is my energy level. Before I started this BBB&E I was riding 50-75miles a week on my bike. In the 5 weeks since I can only manage one 16 mile ride a week and it's rough to even do that. I am a little bummed about that with fall coming up and that being my favorite time of the year to ride. On a side note, I brought home an amazing 11 week old Golden retriever yesterday! I lost my most recent dog last February and I could not wait any longer. I wanted a lively but yet slightly lower energy dog since I have had 3 GSPs and my last one was a lab. He is very well behaved and surprisingly has had no accidents so far. I would add a Pic if I could figure out how.
  11. I cant drink black coffee!! It's the one thing I refuse to give up. It's my one vice now and I need it. I have been trying to drink it black but it just doesn't do it for me. The last couple days I have put in just a splash of heavy cream and it is wonderful! Sigh I really wanted to do BBB&E for 90 days but guess I will have to modify to have a teaspoon of cream 1-2 times a day.
  12. 4lbs the second week, about 13lbs for a two week total.
  13. Week 2 I was down 4 pounds. A little disappointed but down is down. Still feel great and loving what I get to eat so I am happy!
  14. At the end of day 13, no cravings or sugar withdrawal symptoms so I think I am one of the lucky few to get through the first phase of kicking sugar addiction with no side effects. No diarrhea for 5 days either just normal bms every other day. I am keeping track of calories just as a side effect of tracking my fat to protein ratios which have stayed about 70/30 and I think that's OK. Surprisingly I have only gone over 2200 Cals 1 day and it was just a couple hundred over. I'm not really trying to keep to that number but eating till I'm full and only eating 1-2 times a day it's just working out that way. I made my family breaded pork steak, mashed potatoes and gravy with sweet corn. It's one of my favorite meals and I won't lie it looked really good but it was not all that hard to pass it up. I just ate un breaded pork steak fried in bacon grease and it was really good, nice and fatty. I'm not really supposed to eat it as I am really trying to stick to bbb&e but I don't think it will hurt me much. What was harder though was not opening a can of sauerkraut to go with them!
  15. I made it through the first week! No cheats, cravings or withdrawal symptoms and I feel pretty good. I dropped 9 pounds and I know a good bit was water but that's fine. I am back below 300 and I really hope to never see over 300 again!! My goal is 220lbs so 9 down and 75 to go.
  16. I just had my first Ribeye since starting this 6 days ago. So Chuck steaks are good, don't get me wrong, but they are miles from a Ribeye!! Man it was amazing cooked in bacon fat and topped with butter cooked rare but well seared in a cast iron skillet. Just wow nothing has tasted that good to me in many many years, even other Ribeyes!
  17. Day 6 update. I could not quite make it 24 hours to wait on supper to eat. I was going on a bike ride and I was afraid to go on the ride after not eating for almost 20 hours so I had 3 pickled eggs and 4 hotdogs. Managed 18.6 miles on my ride which has been my minimum ride the last few months before I went carnivore. I have ridden between 18.6-40 miles in the last 3 months. So I was glad I hit my minimum. After the ride I had my first regular BM, no diarrhea! Still no withdrawal symptoms either, I am really happy so far. I will do my first weigh in on Saturday morning.
  18. Yeah it's just good Ole yellow mustard. It's the only kind I like. I think I will keep it for now unless I don't see progress or a stall down the road. Thanks
  19. I have been eating Nathan's beef skinless hotdogs as additions to meals or even as the main meat/fat for a small meal like my lunch today I had 4 of them with 3 of my homemade pickled eggs. The ingredient list does not look too bad, I know there is a very small percent of not good stuff but I am hoping they are OK as they are very easy to cook and taste awesome. Anybody else eat hotdogs and what brand if so?
  20. Day 5 and ended up doing a 24 hour fast. I had things to do this afternoon so I was afraid to eat due to my issues with diarrhea so I just waited till supper to eat. Then I realized I thawed the wrong Hamburger and had to force down 93/7 stuff. Even cooked in bacon grease and topped with butter (patties) it was rough. I much prefer the 85/15 grass fed I get from Sam's. I known it's still low in fat but it's just too convenient in 1lb packs for $5 a lb. I add bacon grease and or butter to it as well. Still no sugar withdrawal issues. I am very happy about that. I plan on doing OMAD going forward as much as possible. I will try a 20-25 mile bike ride tomorrow too and see how that goes!
  21. Anybody have a good app for tracking food on the carnivore diet? Preferably free but if it's good I will pay for one. I tried myfitnesspal but I don't care for it for this, or can't figure it out most likely lol. Just looking to keep track of the fat and protein I consume.
  22. I am at the end of my 4th day. Still no withdrawal symptoms, I am really surprised considering the amount of sugar I was consuming. Still struggling with the trots but since I did not eat this morning it held off until I was off work at least!
  23. Pickles!!! Don't tease me lol that's one of the hardest things for me I am giving up. I am not giving up my pickled eggs however....
  24. I know most seasonings and sauces are no go, what about mustard?
  25. Thanks guys for the encouragement! I had a headache and fatigue yesterday but not too bad along with some am diarrhea. Today I feel good but again with am diarrhea bad enough I had to leave work early as we had no bathroom on this worksite. I have been eating 1b of bacon and three eggs for breakfast these first 3 days and I think it's too much fat for me too quick. I think tomorrow I will just skip breakfast and try doing just two meals within a 6 hour window. While I was in prison I almost always fasted from supper at around 5ish to lunch around 11ish so it's not new and I should be fine. Hopefully it won't take long to get down to OMAD. I have some Chuck steak thawed so I will have a nice dinner tonight! One thing I forgot to mention is I am still exercising regularly. I got moved to home confinement in May and I have been riding my bike 50ish miles a week since then. It has gotten harder though the last month as my weight has ballooned. Only my legs have stayed toned so I look rather odd with this huge stomach and legs/calves of steel lol.
