Recommendation(s) for Natural Alternative(s) to Blood Thinner (Pradaxa)
I'm hoping to switch from the blood thinner, Pradaxa (Dabigatran Etexilate 150 mg), to natural alternative(s). I do not want to bleed out and die if I ever have/get into an accident. Does anyone have experience with attempting a similar change? What was your experience and results? Recommendations?

Do you mean statin-type or drugs in general?

Independence Day 2025. Eliminated statin tonight after years of being on one. Freedom...hope so 📿- This carnivore had a heart attack today
Yes, I did tell him that I heard long term use might contribute to dementia. I think he basically ignored what I said.- This carnivore had a heart attack today
Thanks, I'll look into that. Since Natto is plant-based, is it ok for Carnivore? Do you take it as a supplement? What brand do you take?- This carnivore had a heart attack today

It would be nice if the inflammation in my neck would go away after stopping the statin. So far, the diet hasn't eliminated it completely.- This carnivore had a heart attack today
Thanks Geoff, good food for thought. Meds to potentially quit (in order, according to my current thinking): Statin Beta blocker Blood thinner Anti-arrhythmic Then substitute with natural alternatives if helpful.- This carnivore had a heart attack today
Will you go back on a statin?- This carnivore had a heart attack today
Interesting concept, thanks. I'm on day 72 of mostly carnivore.- This carnivore had a heart attack today
Thanks Scott. I'd like to be able to get rid of the metoprolol, anti-arrythmic, and blood thinner, too, but without a carnivore-friendly cardiologist's input, I hesitate doing it on my own. I'd like to be taking all natural supplements if needed. I know there are docs available on the internet, but I think I would need someone who can look at my full heart history. I think getting off the statin might be the safest med to get rid of.- This carnivore had a heart attack today
Thanks all. I hope I'll make a good decision about it.- This carnivore had a heart attack today
I'd like to stop or reduce my statin if possible. I think I was told I'd had a heart attack in the past, but it was so long ago, I don't recall the particulars. I recently switched cardiologists and my new one kind of balked at my eating red meat. I asked him to switch me from Lipitor to Crestor and he prescribed 20 mg once a day. I'm thinking I might at least taper off to 10 mg a day, especially since the pills are scored for easy splitting. I don't want to tell my doc that I'm doing it. I heard that long term use of statins can contribute to dementia, and at 77 I prefer not to get that, especially living alone. Edit: Actually, the Crestor isn't the scored pill and looks like it might be very tedious to break it in half since it's very small and round. The scored pill is actually the Toprol.- This carnivore had a heart attack today
Mitch had a stroke.- Managing the electrolytes?
Thanks for tips. I noticed the complex has flaxseed oil and other plant products. Since it doesn't stipulate how much, I guess not to worry?- Are these compatible with the carnivore diet? Ketovore diet?
I wasn't aware of such a thing, thanks.- Are these compatible with the carnivore diet? Ketovore diet?
Something seems to still be causing inflammation in my neck. I need to determine which on the list might be contributing. I stopped the almond milk, flax seeds, chia seeds, cumin, and hemp hearts. I may or may not introduce them back, probably not the almond milk and not the flax and chia seeds. I started to drink matcha as a substitute for the instant coffee. I may switch to regular brewed coffee. Thanks for your input.- Managing the electrolytes?
I haven't made the homemade electrolyte mixture yet. I need to do further research on which form of magnesium to use. Citrate, sulfate, and maleate have been suggested so far. Currently, I just use a little salt and No Salt (potassium chloride) in water, plus I take magnesium glycinate in a capsule every night.- Freaked out
I'd like to get off Lipitor (Atorvastatin). I recently heard Dale E. Bredesen, author of Ageless Brain, say in an interview that Crestor can be a better choice. I'd like to get off altogether, but I haven't been on the diet very long and am not being super strict about it yet. Will see my new cardiologist in June and am hoping he's receptive to carnivore and nutritional treatments. I'd like to find natural alternatives for: Multaq (dronedarone) - antiarrhythmic Pradaxa (Dabigatran etexilate) - blood thinner Toprol (Metaprolol) - beta blocker Lipitor (Atorvastatin) - cholesterol- Are these compatible with the carnivore diet? Ketovore diet?
That makes sense.🙂 Food Bank hasn't responded to my offer, so maybe they don't want anything on my meager list.😆- Cravings.
