Vickie reacted to Bob in CholesterolRemember that your cells are using fat for energy instead of glucose. Fat needs to be transported in the blood inside lipoproteins (because fat can't mix with water/blood). So it is only natural that your cholesterols would increase when you are fat adapted.

Vickie reacted to Geezy in CholesterolMy chat went like this.
Doc…your cholesterol is way to high I want you on a statin.
Me…No thanks doc, it’s right where I want it to be.
Doc…you have a heart condition and this high cholesterol will kill you.
Me…you told me covid would kill me too if I didn’t get the jab and you were wrong about that and I believe you are wrong about this and I’ve done my research. I will never take a statin.
Doc…well I’m sorry you feel this way but I’m recording this in your file.
Me…I understand your standard of care requires you to do what you do but I’m the one in charge of my health. I appreciate your concern though.
Of course all of this went on after he praised me for what I’ve accomplished in my health journey by going zero carb. Yeah, don’t look at the results, just follow that “Standard of Care”.

Vickie reacted to Derrick in StrugglingHi new here. I started carnivore about 90 days ago. I wasn't seeking weight loss as much as I was seeking the healing process. Mind, stomach issues, bloat, inflammation, energy, and to be honest tired of counting calories. I previously had been on a standard but very clean diet for about 15 years where I even saw body fat levels of 5-7%. I was under eating for most of that while still training. I still train roughly 5 days a week but just strength training.
I am 5'10", and fluctuating right now between 163-167lbs. This is just since starting the carnivore diet. Typically I have been around 155-160lbs.
When I first started carnivore 90 days ago I was not as knowledgeable about it and under eating. Having three meals a day and counting my calories. Probably for the first 30-45 days of it. Now I am trying to eat 2lbs of meat a day.
I take some magnesium and electrolytes as my only supplement.
My meals look like this:
Breakfest
80/20 Ground Beef 12-14oz (cooked in tallow) 4-6 whole eggs (cooked in butter) Dinner
12-14oz Ribeye (topped with butter) Either a 80/20 ground beef patty or 2-3 whole eggs. My frustration has been that I am gaining weight both on the scale and visually. For someone who has worked so hard at being trim, this is stressing me out. I also have not noticed any of the health benefits. I have very low energy, and still the same brain fog. The only benefit I can feel today is the fact I am not counting calories or measuring portions. I have tried to trust this process but it is very difficult seeing weight come on.
I am curious to know if this is typical and that my body still needs time? I see online people eating way more than I do and dropping weight. Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

Vickie reacted to Mleedilley in Hunger is differentSo I've been on Carnivore for four weeks now and have only just realized hunger feels different now. Haven't had any issues up until now but I was feeling "wobbly" and realized I only had one meal yesterday and one brekkies 10 hours ago. I don't have a growly stomach to announce its food time anymore. Something I must pay attention to in the future. I can be too focused when I'm working on something and that's why I forgot to eat. Otherwise, this way of eating is refreshingly easy with losing aches, pains and weight being a massive bonus.

Vickie reacted to Orweller in Hunger is differentCarb hunger is more aggressive, obvious, in your face, like a Karen. Carnivore hunger is like a stalker, a killer in the night, it sneaks up on you.
Consider fat intake, and mind your electrolytes, with regards to feeling empty.

Vickie reacted to Geezy in Hunger is differentIt can be easy to under eat in the beginning of carnivore because it satiates us so well that we just don’t get hungry like we used to. Instead of a hunger that craves food like it did when we were carb eaters our bodies tend to just let us know when it needs fuel.
A carb hunger vs a carnivore hunger.
It’s important then to make sure you are getting enough food and nutrition at each meal. You need plenty of fat to go with the protein.
I generally only eat one meal a day so i make sure I eat enough.

Vickie reacted to Scott F. in Hunger is differentSometimes the 'wobbly' is a sign to eat. For me, it was I found my electrolytes were not up to par. I didn't really read the instructions but pretty much dove right into carnivore.
I tried some of the pre-made electrolyte drinks, but they tasted horrible to me. I made a homemade electrolyte solution that also tasted 'not so good'.
Now, I use the electrolyte solution and slat my food to taste. Since then, I have been actually hungry only twice in just over 60 days. I basically eat 1 meal a day, occasionally two, but I have also done a couple 48-hour fasts.
My 'wobblies' were more to do with electrolytes than eating.

Vickie reacted to Geezy in CholesterolI had a blood test six months into carnivore and then another six months later. My results were actually lower. After a full year as a carnivore.
My overall cholesterol was 299 but came down to 269.
LDL was 225 but then down to 190.
Triglycerides were 87 then down to 66.
HDL was 57 but then went up to 66.
This puts my HDL to Triglyceride ratio to a 1 which is a fantastic number considering that that is the true maker for cardiovascular health.
I’m actually concerned about my LDL dropping because it’s a well documented fact that there is more all cause mortality in older people who have lower cholesterol. I want mine to stay elevated.
