Carburetor got a reaction from Bob in great conversation yesterdayI met a cardiologist the other day. Ultrasonic inspection. He was nice and polite -but everything was about cholesterol and cholesterol medication. Diet was never mentioned, he did not comment my weight loss in any way either. 67 lbs gone in eight months.
Cholesterol number is the Gospel. I did not comment much at all.
Good new is that my heart has not gotten any worse.

Carburetor got a reaction from Bob in re-introduced sugarHere in Finland we have a company that makes good keto ice cream. 2,9g carbs, 20 g fat. Erythritol does not bother me.
I had some canned herring last month, a few herring lunches with eggs. Hot days in the garden, nice.
But I noticed my BP got much higher for two weeks, only then I realised that there is lots of sugar hidden in all canned herring! My one and only sugar accident this year.
Blood ketones dropped for a while too.
I can not have any sugar, bread etc. I start slipping little by little, a croissant next week, then chocolate, french fries the following week... sugar is a drug for me.
I don't drink alcohol either because I get nothing out of a glass of wine or one beer. A case of beer is much better, or three bottles of red wine for cooking and dinner...

Carburetor reacted to Scott F. in re-introduced sugarI can't decide if it sparked a sugar craving and I replaced it with steak or whether it simply made my hungry. Not sure.
Regardless, it sparked appetite and I have not had that in a while.
I never had like sugar cravings or withdrawals or any issue starting carnivore 'cold turkey' off the other foods. I guess looking back I didn't give sugar its just due. It is indeed a powerful substance.

Carburetor reacted to Bob in re-introduced sugarIf I have a little refined sugar, I find myself wanting to look for ways to slip in a little more here and a little more there. I definitely think there is an addictive aspect to it.
This is in particular with glucose, as it goes straight to the cells. Something that's mostly fructose, like many fruits, do not trigger these impulses in me.

Carburetor reacted to Scott F. in great conversation yesterdayI was talking to a retired doctor at the gym on Sunday. I am a big fan of experience and knowledge and those being based on time.
We were talking kids and doctors and prescriptions and the internet and some of everything. One of the older guys mentioned that doctors were once held in a much higher regard. And another mentioned pills seem to be the answer for everything.
The retired doctor chimed in and I thought what he said was sort of enlightening. I was the youngest in the group at 56 so he was talking to my age group and older.
In so many words.....there is only one generation that has been born in the internet age with any and all information at their finger tips. For the most part, anyone 30 and under was born with the same access to medical information as their doctors. We never had that. In the 70's and 80's we had a set of the 1978 World Book Encyclopedias, the school library and the public library. Our medicinal knowledge was limited to those resources. The person that went off to medical school had accesses we did not have and thus were on another level. When someone knows something you don't, and uses that knowledge to help you, especially in a time of need, they get to another level really quickly. Once the doctor gets to that next level his word is not only golden but it becomes the gospel. Then overtime Big Pharma and Big Insurance starts their version of "practicing medicine" and that money started to dictate patient care. When their world is the gospel and the newer method is to prescribe pills the unknowing went with what they have trusted. To refer to those people as 'sheep' is really an unfair criticism.
Fast forward to the groups (around age 40's and up) who have internet access for a large portion of their lives there is the movements away from the norm (carnivore being one).
Doctors in turn trained new doctors, kids trusted their parents/grandparents and in most cases learned to trust the people (doctors) that their parents trusted.
It was almost the perfect storm. As the internet becomes more and more of a factor in everyday life there is a break from the norms and people are challenging doctors and medicine because they now have access to the very same information as everyone else. Taht has not always been the case. The playing field is more level now than ever and people can now arm themselves with knowledge and information that actually rivals that of their doctors.
It was an interesting conversation. Sort of a new perspective.

Carburetor got a reaction from Copper in Just another Nonbread-UnbreadThis is good: Mix approx. equal amounts of cottage cheese and eggs (I put 300 g cheese and three eggs) , spread on paper and bake in medium oven for 15-20 minutes.
Cut in slices.
This stays good in the fridge for a long time, good with Bulletproof coffee. Just spread on some butter and whatever you fancy.
Can be used as wraps for Tortillas, too.

Carburetor reacted to Geezy in How to keep a nation sick.If you were the devil and wanted to keep an entire nation sick, what would you do?
That’s a powerful thought experiment — often used to explore systemic issues through a provocative lens. If you were "the devil" and wanted to keep an entire nation sick (physically, mentally, or spiritually), you'd likely focus on slow, seductive strategies that undermine well-being while appearing convenient or even desirable.
Here’s how that might look:
1. Corrupt the Food Supply
Normalize ultra-processed, addictive, nutrient-poor foods.
Make unhealthy food cheaper, more accessible, and more heavily advertised than whole foods.
Subsidize ingredients like corn syrup, soy oil, and refined grains.
2. Undermine Preventive Health
Promote a reactive health system that treats symptoms with drugs but rarely addresses root causes.
Discourage movement, sleep, and stress reduction — make them feel like luxuries instead of necessities.
3. Weaponize Misinformation
Flood the public with conflicting health advice, creating confusion and apathy.
Elevate fad diets, miracle pills, and pseudoscience to distract from sustainable, evidence-based habits.
4. Promote Chronic Stress and Isolation
Encourage a culture of overwork, comparison, and consumerism.
Undermine community, family, and spiritual life — replacing connection with screens and shallow interactions.
5. Make Sickness Profitable
Turn healthcare into big business, where keeping people chronically ill generates ongoing revenue.
Incentivize treatments over cures, and diagnostics over prevention.
6. Shape Minds Early
Condition children with junk food marketing, sedentary entertainment, and overstimulation.
Undervalue physical education, outdoor play, and critical thinking in schools.
7. Distract and Divide
Keep people distracted by drama, outrage, and endless scrolling.
Pit groups against each other so they’re too divided to demand systemic change.
This kind of mental exercise can be helpful for uncovering structural problems that contribute to poor health. It's a wake-up call to recognize harmful patterns—and to reclaim personal and collective agency in the face of them.

Carburetor reacted to Geezy in Cost of Carnivore? Who's done the math? It’s funny that people will say that eating carnivore is too expensive as an excuse for not doing it but they shut up when I tell them that the fact that not buying all of the processed junk, sweets and vegetables that they used to buy offsets the cost.
Now if you are the only one in a family of 4 eating carnivore then yeah, the grocery bill is probably going to go up.

Carburetor got a reaction from Geezy in What Did You Eat Today? This has become my gold standard breakfast. No boredom in sight!
My monthly measuring day showed good blood sugar (4,7) and blood ketones (2,6) plus a couple of cm thinner waist again and a couple of kilos body fat lost. I have dropped 27 kilos since November 110 kg. Feeling great. @ 23 BMI.

Carburetor got a reaction from Geezy in Gout!My gout got quite serious when I was eating everything. I got on Allopurinol and it eventually helped. Summer -23 I could hardly ride motorcycles or walk, all summer. Gout hit my achilles tendons, too. Talk about pain. Me being on blood thinners, can not use ibuprofen or other painkillers. Ouch.
But:
The real help was quitting sugars/ other carbs almost completely. I get max 10 g carbs a day, zero sugar, and have been gout free all this year. I have also cut down Allopurinol from two 300 mg pills to 1/8 of a pill. I'll be completely off Allo next month.
I ride motorbikes almost every day and need my big toes!
So it was carbs that triggered gout in my case. Not fat or "little fish" or whatsoever chicken skin. Just carbs. My diet is high fat low carb.

Carburetor reacted to Bob in Gout!Remember that other conditions can contribute to a gout flare up. Such conditions can be genetic or medical, such as diabetes, kidney disease, obesity, and high blood pressure. It could also be caused by medications you may be taking and even dehydration.
Some people initially experience a gout flare up at the beginning, but then this goes away, and they never see symptoms return because it's mitigated by your low carb whole foods diet. Things like sugar and alcohol are bigger factors than meat consumption.

Carburetor got a reaction from Geezy in What Did You Eat Today?Herring for lunch. A good fatty fish. My coffee is "Bulletproof",too.
Me being a "High Fat Low Carb Ketovore", I take fat add-ons like coconut oil quite often. My fat intake energy % is above 75. Carbs max 10 g.
At least 25 kg (50 lbs) body fat has gone since October. Blood ketones 1,5-2,5, feeling great. My arteries must be healing themselves, I have a stent, my strength and overall condition have not been this good in eight years on statins. Which I quit last Christmas.
-
Carburetor got a reaction from Bob in What Did You Eat Today?Italian zero-carb, high fat spicy "Toscana" sausages. I guess I'm more "dirty keto" because of all the sausages I eat.
But I could not keep my fat intake high enough by eating our very lean finnish meats. It leads to protein overdose and low fat. Or ground beef and bacon only.
My breakfast is bacon and eggs, almost every day. Still tastes delicious.
Salsicha pepperoncini, sauerkraut:

Carburetor reacted to Geezy in What Did You Eat Today?I’ve noticed several newcomers to this lifestyle tend to get confused about what they can eat or get bored with just eating the same old thing over and over and then there’s some that just don’t have much imagination around food and in the kitchen.
Well this is a thread for everyone to post what they eat each day.
It doesn’t matter if it’s something you eat day in and day out or if it’s something that’s unique but still in the spectrum of carnivore, post it up. It may help inspire someone to stick with their diet plan and reach their goals by introducing something new to their diet.
So, What did you eat today?

Carburetor reacted to Meathead in How to lower my cholesterolYour biggest concern is educating yourself and disproving the naysayers on your beliefs.
Hope you watched the links I mentioned earlier.
Eggs from sam's club pasture raised but after seeing Lillie Kane's video I'm at a loss now.

Carburetor reacted to Geezy in How to lower my cholesterolWell that’s just so ignorant on several levels.
There is no way on this green earth that being carnivore for only 11 months could possibly cause a heart attack. Absolute bovine excrement. It takes a lifetime of bad eating and poor health to set up the circumstances within the body to cause a heart attack.
Some people can be more susceptible to heart disease due to their dna but even then it only means that they will probably contract CVD at an earlier age.
There has never, in the history of mankind, ever been a single study that proves that eating what man has always eaten from nearly the beginning of time causes CVD.
Your heart attack was not caused by eating carnivore. While it could be a dna deficiency it was most likely due to the diet you have eaten all of the years preceding carnivore.
If you want to lower your cholesterol it’s your business and I’ll support you in your efforts but there is no reason to do it. Every study where they tried to prove that cholesterol caused CVD ended up showing just the opposite. In fact they all showed that those with lower cholesterol experienced more all cause mortality than those with higher cholesterol.
There is no correlation between high cholesterol and heart attacks.
I’m not just talking out my rear here, I practice what I preach. I’ve been carnivore for over two years now. In that time I have reversed my heart issues and my cardiologist has taken me off all of my heart medications and only wants me to come in once a year for a check up now. He actually loves what I’m doing with my diet and my health.
