  1. Good morning everyone. I spent yesterday filming and editing. Lunch was the Mexican place, because I am a slave to my wife and kids, lol. I had the "Cielos, Mar, y Tierra" which is a ribeye, a chicken breast, and 6 shrimp. Then for dinner I had one of my burnt cheese foldovers. I need to hit up Sam's. I started today with 7 scrambled eggs with some cheese because I ran out of breakfast meats.
  2. I had/have ulcerative colitis. I've been off meds for 5 years. A couple weeks ago, I had a colonoscopy and there is no trace if it. My gastroenterologist stays said if the biopsy comes back negative he'll declare me cured. It's going to be the subject of a future YouTube video. Since your only on day 9, I wouldn't be quick to assume it's an UC flare up. Many people experience diarrhea when they drastically change their diet. You might just be dealing with transition/adaptation symptoms, "keto flu", like many of us did when we first started.
  3. Hi Scott! You'll find that most carnivores, even the strict ones, will still consume coffee, even though it comes from a plant - and the seeds at that (the most heavily defended part of most plants). It's pretty benign and innocent for most people. Unfortunately, I'm not like most people. I used to love coffee, but then I learned that the toxins in coffee were (part of) what was triggering my ulcerative colitis. When I quit coffee, I started to heal and got off my prescription meds. But most others can drink it without issues, so if that's you, then enjoy! Have one for me. Regarding vitamins, you'll be getting just about everything you need from your food when you follow a carnivore or carnivore-centric diet, so there isn't much need for supplementation with a multivitamin. If you need something specific, it's usually vitamin D if you don't get enough sun, and maybe some electrolytes if you're not getting enough through food (because we don't get it in our filtered water these days). Some take a tiny bit of iodine.
  4. Do it! You can make your course correction and at 20 years old I would imagine you would experience some tremendous healing in less time compared to those of us who are much older and severely battered. You have to be willing to commit. Make it a vow, set smaller, achievable goals at first. Let's go! For balanced education, binge Ken Berry. For inspiration, binge Sean Baker. For motivation, binge Homestead How.
  5. Yes it can. You have the potential "keto flu", adaptation/transition phase, and then cravings to conquer. For me, the strength to overcome addiction came in sets of "3's". The first 3 days were the toughest. After 3 weeks, I knew I could keep going. After 3 months, this was easily my new permanent lifestyle.
  6. I can be just as passionate about my carnivore diet, lol. BUT, I try not to be the militant dogmatic type. I like to think of myself as the Reasonable Carnivore, lol
  7. I didn't take a picture, but today was lamb chops, cooked in ghee using my new cast iron pan. There was a bit of a learning curve for cooking in cast iron. Those things really hold heat and I was burning everything. I only need to set it half as high as my non-stick Ninja pans.
  8. So checking in on a mobile phone actually works just fine. The site is optimized to display very well both on a PC monitor as well as a mobile device. It's Tapatalk specifically that doesn't work for moderating. You'll see an unapproved post and Reply to it, never realizing that both your unapproved post and your subsequent reply are still invisible to everyone else, lol.
  9. This is basically a little survey of mine. I think I need an extra set of eyes on here. It never fails that someone new posts right when I go to sleep or start my day at work, and then when I do check on the forums, I see an unapproved post waiting in the queue and had been sitting there for 12-14 hours waiting for approval. The 1st post by a newbie gets held in queue. I do this so Spammers don't get to post. The alternative is to leave it open and then come delete the spam later, but that would mean spam could sit on the forum for several hours too and that doesn't look good either, lol. So who visits every day from a web browser? Unfortunately, the site cannot be moderated using Tapatalk.
  10. Welcome back Megan. We're here to help in any way we can. I often here people say "what is your Why?" for doing this diet, and that if you can remember your Why, then that will help you stay the course. Your Why is certainly tied up in knowing that you CAN feel better, becaue you did it once and you know it benefitted you. You can do it again, and so let's do it and 18 months from now you can look back on today as just a blip on the radar - you slipped, but you got back up again!
  11. I occasionally do a fried bologna sandwhich. Well, these days I put that on an Egg Life wrap. A local restaurant makes one and I really liked it so I now do my own carnivore version of it. Might just do that today in fact, lol.
  12. Last night I took a friend and his wife to Longhorn Steakhouse for dinner. It was my treat because they helped us out when we went on vacation in August. Along with my tasty NY Strip I had a stuffed mushroom appetizer, and I also enjoyed an Old Fashioned (Kentucky bourbon-based drink). I don't mind stepping back into Ketovore on the rare occasions that I go out these days.
  13. Hey @Mammamu - I was just curious how you have been doing these last few weeks.
  14. I'd like to extend a warm welcome to both @Trish7899 and @Kbranford to our community! I will agree that restarting is hard. It would take me several weeks to make my mind over and slowly get back into "diet mode" back when I was trapped in that pattern of yo-yo dieting. Now I see it as a lifestyle instead of a diet. Any deviation has to be just a blip on the radar, because that's not my lifestyle anymore, nor do I want it to be ever again. "Carnivore for life" as they say.
  15. Looks like a bunch of wild boars taking advantage of a deer feeder.
  16. My taco meat may have been too wet. I had done this before with much better crunch in my pork rinds.
  17. It is pretty cool. You can also check out these other 1800's resources.... And also...
  18. Coffee is an interesting subject. I started drinking it in 1996 or so but I quit in 2019. I'm actually 5 years coffee free. The reason I quit was because it was the primary driving factor behind my ulcerative colitis.
  19. My sincere condolences. I've had to go through this twice. The last one was 2 years ago and it was devastating. After about 30 days for some grieving and a vacation to get our minds off of it, we did get a puppy and started over. What a lot of work that was, lol.
  20. And that's the right attitude. A Proper Human Diet, as Ken Berry coined it, can include some low carb veggies. If you eat them every day or every other day, we call that "ketovore". If you're having some once a week or less, we'll still give you a name badge that says you're a carnivore, lol
  21. So then keep taking your herbal supplements for now, but if these issues don't resolve or improve, then you will want to eliminate the herbal supplement as well - just in case there's something in the herbs that is causing a disturbance in your body. Or just wean off slowly, which is probably what I would do. The "keto flu" and other symptoms of transitioning to a carnivore diet can be avoided if you gradually make the switch. On the other hand, "gradual" doesn't work for some people, because they can't fight the cravings, and going cold turkey is the way they have to go.
  22. Yes, pork rinds. It was good, but the pork rinds under the fixin's did start to get soggy. Next time I think I will put all the fixin's in a bowl, or in the center of the plate with the pork rinds around it, and scoop it up with the pork rinds to maintain that crunch. Soggy pork rinds were not very satisfying, lol.
  23. It will be interesting to see if the weight loss resumes after cutting out the milk again. It would make sense. Milk has lactose, a sugar. Having it at night before bed isn't a good idea, but I don't think it's a good idea to eat within 4 hours of going to bed either.
  24. Do you usually take these herbal supplements? If so, continuing to do so while you're transitioning you should be fine. If you are trying to heal some chronic health issue you may want to try and wean yourself off them in due time, just in case any plant toxins in these herbs are actually triggering your issues. Carnivore dieters usually find that fat keeps the bowels moving. If the stools are hard, add more fat to your meals. If the stools are too soft, back off the fat a bit. Welcome aboard!
