  1. It’s all bad no matter how you look at it. Warning Labels? No, they don’t do any good. Those who would be willing to take heed to them is the type that wouldn’t buy that trash to begin with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. I started drinking when I was around 14 or 15. I was hitting bars by 16. In the Army I drank like a fish. After I got out I drank anytime I wasn’t at work. My father was an alcoholic but you never really knew it because he drank all the time but never appeared intoxicated. The man was in three wars so he had his demons. As much as I drank, I wasn’t an alcoholic. Seems strange I know but I just didn’t have an addictive personality when it came to alcohol. When I got married and started having kids I just quit drinking. After the kids were grown and gone I started back up but I didn’t drink just for the sake of drinking. I drank for flavor. I love a good dark ale or stout. I like trying different whiskeys and have developed a fondness for the Irish. Then I developed AFib. I was told that alcohol may be a contributing fact but it wasn’t like I drank all the time anymore, just once in awhile. After my four trip to the ER and another stay in the ICU I said that’s enough, I’m tired of this. So when I started on carnivore back in June I cut out all alcohol. Now I’ve always said that I wasn’t going sober per say, I just wasn’t going to drink unless it was a very special occasion. So this last weekend I went to Kansas for a pheasant hunt. It was two days of hard walking through very thick grasses and by the second day I was beat and sore and tired. So I decided that I could use a whiskey and raise a toast to my fellow veterans so I had a glass of Jameson. A short time later I felt two heart palpitations so I figured that’s all I need to know about alcohol and my heart condition Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I drove up to Kansas today for a weekend of pheasant hunting. Wasn’t sure what my food choices might be so I packed some clean pepperoni, clean meat sticks, some cheese and a dozen hard boiled eggs. Munched on some of that on the 8 hour drive. After I got settled into the hotel I went looking for a steak. Found this place called The Black Bison Pub. Ordered my usual ribeye. Now I’m a Texan and we pride ourselves on our beef and I even raised my own but I’m here to tell you, that ribeye just may have been the best ribeye I’ve ever eaten. These Kansas folks raise some good beef. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Happy Birthday Bob. How was the steak at Longhorn’s? We’ve got one fixing to open up down here in my town. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I do most of the cooking since I retired and I’ve always loved to cook. My wife likes me to cook also. It’s not hard to be creative but it can be time consuming. I always have a pretty good variety of different animals in my freezer so I don’t get bored with getting repetitive. To be honest, when I hear of these people who just eat hamburger all the time…I don’t think I could do it. That’s my least favorite meat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. When I was first starting carnivore I was very adamant about avoiding sugar and for the most part I still am but you are correct in not getting too obsessed about the trace amount in bacon. I make my own bacon and I’ve made it with and without sugars but I must admit, it’s better with the sweetened brine. Here lately I’ve been trying out just plain pork belly fried up like bacon with a little salt on it after cooking and it’s pretty darn good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Good old Texas bbq. Just finished smoking this 18 pound brisket. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. My LDL was around 200 pre carnivore. After a 147 days on carnivore I had my biannual physical and blood work was done. This was my lipid panel. As you can see my total cholesterol was 299 and my LDL was 225. While my nutritionally ignorant doctor is upset about it, I’m not the least bit concerned. LDL is an essential hormone in the human body. Every cell in your body is made up of LDL cholesterol. There has never been any evidence that LDL cholesterol has any negative effects on the cardiovascular system, in fact, quite the contrary. There is evidence to show that those with lower LDL numbers tend to die of all cause mortality more that those with higher numbers. If you are metabolically healthy (key words there) then higher LDL cholesterol is a sign of good health. The only numbers that you should concern yourself with are your triglycerides and HDL. Ideally you want your triglycerides below 100 and your HDL above 50. Then to get a risk assessment you divide your triglycerides by your HDL. Any numbers of 1.5 or lower is a good indicator of cardiovascular health. Tri50 = Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. Ok I went there and found the poll but I just can’t decide because I just like them all too much. [emoji3061] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I pretty much echo what Bob has stated but I would like to add this. Soy in any form is not healthy. First off it comes from the soy bean which is a seed and all seeds are terrible for you. If you are young and healthy they may not affect you as much as they might me but that doesn’t change the fact that we shouldn’t be eating them and soy in particular. Soy can affect the male hormones lowering testosterone and feminizing men. I personally will not eat anything that has any kind of soy in it. Sashimi, boy how I do love it. I fish for yellowfin tuna and when I’m cutting it up I’ll trim some off of the fish and eat it fresh. I used to have a bowl of Ponzi sauce that I would dip it in but now that I’m carnivore I won’t do that. Now it I want to dip it in anything it’s just melted butter. Everyone takes carnivore to the level that fits themselves and that’s fine as long as it doesn’t affect your health. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Well first let me welcome you to the carnivore diet. I hope that it becomes a lifestyle for you rather than a diet. Most of the doctors that I follow recommend eating carnivore for at least 90 days. It may take some people that long to see some of the benefits this way of eating can produce. I think a lot of it has to with how metabolically they might be damaged. When I started I said yeah, I’ll do it for 30 days. Well I saw so much improvement that said I’d do another 30 days. It just kept getting better so I did another 30 days. After doing 90 straight days of pure carnivore I knew, for a fact, without a doubt that this was the way man was supposed to eat. 181 days later I haven’t wavered. As far as vitamins go, it’s my understanding from my research that ruminant meat is the most nutrient dense, bioavailable food there is meaning that you should get all of the vitamins and nutrients you need without supplementation. Now there are some things that we need that are not available in the quantities that we need such as vitamin D. Since most of us don’t spend enough time shirtless in the sun we just don’t get enough so supplementing that is recommended. Then there’s minerals. Since we don’t drink from heavily mineralized streams as our ancestors did we don’t get enough. Some though will argue that if you eat enough meat you should get enough minerals but I’m not sure about that. Then sodium. It’s an essential element for all animal life so that needs to be supplemented. I get my electrolytes from LMNT which has sodium, potassium and magnesium. On top of that I take a magnesium complex to help with my heart rhythm as I have AFib and to also help me with my bowels. So for me it’s just a D3, some electrolytes and magnesium complex. 16. I didn’t see a poll but I really can’t pick a favorite. I like them any way you can fix them other than balut. It mostly just depends on what mood I’m in but I will say this, it is the one food I never I never tire of. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Ribeye with a side butter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. But suggest that it might be prevented through proper nutrition and you would be vilified but they’ll make a pill for it so no one will have to change anything in their lifestyle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. That ghost pepper cheese sounds great. We had a guy at work who made a habanero goat cheese that was da bomb. I wish I hadn’t lost touch with him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Good to know. One of the benefits of carnivore is I now spend less when shopping so I shouldn’t have any problems with the higher cost. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Good deal, for some reason I couldn’t access them. I think those are ok as they don’t have any sweeteners in them or soy products. The only thing in them that I’m not a fan of is the calcium. From my research, unless you have an illness that requires a calcium supplement it’s not needed and can have some adverse effects if taken in large doses. Other than that I see no problems with them. If you choose to go with one of them I’d go with the one that has the lower dose of calcium. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. First off Shalom. I’m sorry for what is happening over there right now. I am a Christian but I am praying for you, your people and your land. Chazak u'varuch. As far as health benefits? No, you’ll be fine. You will not see any noticeable difference. Lavriut. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I like the phrase they use “free-living “. As opposed to what, slaves to Big Food and Big Pharma? I believe that article is a step in the right direction and that we, as a carnivore / keto community are starting to make an impact. I’ve also noticed that in the scientific community that egos and monetary fundings are very strong influencers. They have a very hard time admitting to their mistakes and many refuse to look at the truth in fear of losing funding, their jobs or being ostracized. I have been seeing a trend where some scientists are slowly acknowledging in bits an pieces that they were wrong. They can’t just come straight out and say it but they bring it out as if it’s a new finding. If one tries to come out with the whole truth they are vilified, ostracized and run out on a rail tarred and feathered. It’s all driven of course by those who have the most money to lose if the truth is exposed. It’s refreshing to see someone having the guts to present a finding that’s honest but wait and see if someone doesn’t storm their castle with fire and pitch forks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Holes and errors? You are too kind sir. My bovine excrement meter is pegged out. From my understanding that wasn’t even a new study but just a reprint of the earlier BS, falsified epidemiological studies that proved absolutely nothing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
