  1. Look Ma,no cream! Butter & coconut oil,blended.
  2. 6.5 in various forms has been getting popular here, too. Good bullets are available from several manufacturers. I don´t have a 6.5 but I reload for 14 calibers, 22-250 to 470 NE. I have also been casting bullets (mostly for larger, slower calibers) since the 90´s.
  3. I finally dived in this. My first try came out perfectly the way I hoped, a juicy medium-rare one kilo roast beef. And every gram is the same tenderness, all around the roast. After the bath,I quickly seared the roast on a hot cast iron pan in generous amount of bacon grease. Just one more way to cook great meat - I love cast iron pans, dutch ovens, barbeque etc trad cooking...
  4. Did you scare her to death? Looks unharmed. Interestingly, here in Finland a 223 does not kill whitetail. It has to be at least 243. I don´t know why I have not hunted much lately. Just did not feel like it.
  5. But NOT drinking coffee would be really rebellious, right?
  6. I see, very good for you! Mine is the continuous type. It was put back electrically to normal a few times years ago but it never stayed normal for long. And those trips to a remote hospital always took a few days for a couple of seconds "zap" so I quit doing that. My Omron meter detects afib. Depending on the day, there are less detected afibs now in keto. Normally it shows afib every time I take readings. I took a graph in Sauna last week. Looks nuts!
  7. When I got my attack and stent and realised I could have died... a very stressful situation naturally...my cholesterol went sky high. My numbers had been normal before but I was declared hypercholesterolemia nevertheless. Heavy statins. I have a friend working in a big hospital in Stockholm, they know all this in Sweden but here in Finland there is no stress/ cholesterol connection. Look here if interested: https://www.webmd.com/cholesterol-management/stress-cholesterol-link
  8. This is one of my favorite topics about very low / no carb diet like carni. I´m around 5 g carbs, ketovore. I greatly enjoy it. I can not even go to 20 g as often instructed for keto, cravings come unconciously. I find myself ordering french fries after a couple of weeks in 20 g. This very low carb ketosis often gives people certain "Zen"- like peace of mind. It comes from not eating carbs and it gets even better if you only eat once a day. Your mind relaxes greatly ,getting rid of carb addiction and its blood sugar ups/downs with the dopamine rushes when you fill your carbs. Your mind eventually forgets all the carb food. Body forgets it first. Just like tobacco or alcohol. After you get rid of addictions, you experience freedom and ease. At this point most carb eating people start laughing "Haha, addiction! I´be been eating bread and potatoes and chocolate all my life, never been addicted, haha!
  9. Welcome from The Other Side,Gabe! I´m new here and not strict carnivore (not yet) but I have almost zero carb days in my "ketovore" style quite often. My intention is to try full carni soon. My heart situation has been interesting,an attack and a stent eight years ago. I got slowly worse and worse. I was put in an open heart surgery queue exactly two years ago. I was being examined (ultra etc) and all of a sudden a man came and introduced himself as "The Knife Guy". He said "let´s look at your legs and arms, ahh okay, yes we have nice spare parts here!" I was like "What? I had no idea of this!" The Knife Guy rudely said "Then wtf are you doing here?" I said "I was told about ultra and a possible second stent only". "I will NOT accept an open heart surgery "just in case", thank you very much for your time." And I left the hospital. I have not been back ever since and don´t intend to,as long as I´m walking on my feet, thinking straight. Now in ketovore I take walks, everything in my condition is getting better. I rarely need Nitro-Spray any more, it has been a household item for all these years. I have a spinning bike and a crosstrainer in my living room (My doc said a definite NO to both of them), and I just bought back my motorbike that I sold after being declared half-zombie. Got two bikes now. I have cut down BP meds a lot, quit statin. My understanding is,I have been fighting those excessive meds, thinking it was my bad heart preventing me from sweating and doing things. Sounds a bit crazy but that´s how I see it now. Give carni a try, maybe go keto with some carbs for a while first. >You may be pleasantly surprised.
  10. You all must have seen this already? https://medium.com/illumination-curated/the-man-who-ate-over-700-eggs-in-one-month-and-lived-to-tell-about-it-8ae064edf733
  11. Hahahaha! I bought a pound (500 g to be exact) of coffee today, standard but tasty brand. Seven euros. That makes a pretty penny over a year, could buy a new shotgun... culinary coffees cost almost twice that. I´m a hopeless culinarian with no cure. I may quit coffee altogether, now that it is yet/still not an addiction. Why to keep on building a possible common addiction? I can take my "breakfast fats" without coffee, actually I´m thinking of quitting that habit, too. Just an unnecessary insulin spike there. Some folks say coffee is good for ketone production and heart.Heart likes ketones yes. My blood meter read 2.60 mmol a week ago so I´m good without coffee, too.
  12. Do you take Digoxin? I did not watch the video yet but I will after dinner. I have afib, too. Lived with it for eight years at least. Considering how weird my rhythm is,it bothers me surprisingly little. I may have had it much longer, unnoticed... back then I did not even notice the heart (afib) symbol in my old Omron meter that I have had for 20 years.
  13. Oh man, yes, it is Naga Morich. Hot and sweeeet! One pod as "side spice" like this lasts for a few meals indeed. ---------- I figured I might be hungry, felt a bit weak in town with wife in the morning. My OMAD sometimes goes to calorie def, without me really noticing. Funny how quickly, actually instantly, a proper lunch like this fixes me. I'm strong and ready for anything again! Gotta love good fats!
  14. I´m not sure what to tell my doc either. I could list about fifteen things that are better in my life now, with ketovore diet, including having cut BP meds much lower and quit Statin. I could let doc believe that meds have miraculously healed me... without mentioning quitting some... But then there is LDL- It will be high especially now in the beginning of keto. I will get caught for healing myself in a wrong way.
  15. OP did not stay here. I just talked about this with my wife today, again. Cutting carbs would be such an easy thing for anyone to try, just for a few weeks. Many notice the cravings for sugar go away in that time, also the scale may show smaller numbers quickly. But people don´t believe. I have obese friends that I tried to talk about this 20 years ago, not preaching but using myself as an example. They listen, say "wow" - and eat more potatoes and candy. I rarely tell anyone about my diet any more,it´s just not worth it. "Great but fat makes you fat and cholesterol kills you!" Those attitudes are just so deep. People who buy "light low fat" -food are usually the biggest in supermarkets. And keep getting larger... Okay sorry for the rant. I just can´t see why folks try other diets, some practically stop eating... why not even try low carb/carni/keto whatever carb restriction? And eat like a King,I just did:
  16. Sorry I can not do that. I can handle two morning cups well but if I end up drinking a few more in the afternoon, I start getting shaky and nervous. When driving I break all speed limits. If at a shooting range, I can´t hit anything. Things like that.
  17. Sort of the same boat here. I just quit my statins,a heavy max dose for years. My numbers will get high I know. I measure my sugar and ketones every couple of weeks but I do not intend to get a cholesterol measuring gadget. Adds stress only. I rather have my legs and metabolism back than a low LDL number that does not correlate to my health in any way. And it won´t even get low enough,no matter what. Next meeting with doc will be exiting. Doc is okay but very anti-fat. I know he will say I´m killing myself. Hoping he is wrong.
  18. Hello everyone! I'm a 61 years old culinarist keto veteran from Finland, first started low carb in 2004. On and off keto ever since... except 2016 I was diagnosed with many heart related problems, got a stent, too. So : Even though I DEFINITELY knew better, I fell in all the scary fat talk trap from docs and ended up eating low fat. "What if I destroyed my heart with fat after all...?" And so it happened that I gained 30 kilos in a few years eating low fat. My condition got worse every year. Now I figured I don't want diabetes in this coctail so I'm back to keto. I don't want to be fat and weak. This is going great,as always. I feel good. Much less BP meds needed already. I also quit Rosuvastatin because I noticed my legs are going... and Rosu definitely slowed down my metabolism. I was not sweating even in Sauna anymore, now I do. My doctor is going to hate me. He said about Rosu "this pill is keeping you alive." Maybe but also fat, sick and weak. I want my legs completely back, they are better already. I hope all this medical talk did not scare you. I'm doing fine and just bought another Kawasaki ZX-12R. Now I have green and red for different moods. I know I don't look "fat" in this bike pic from last summer but being 6'3", I weigh 110 kg, waist 115 cm. Suit size #62. I used to be 85 kg, 90 cm waist and #56. And I am going back there no matter what my LDL says. Now in retrospect,it may very well be that my earlier keto years made my 2016 attack as mild as it was. Had I been obese, who knows...
  19. My BP got so much lower an steadier in ketovore, I soon cut my usual prescribed four pills down to 1 1/2. The wild variations also stopped. Pulse is a tad higher in keto but less random as well. This pic shows aug 2023 vs Jan 2025 because I used an old BP meter in between, the app did not record it. But this shows the difference quite well. Aug 23 four Metoprolols,no keto. Jan 25 one and a half pills, keto. I have a stent and various heart / CV -conditions since 2016. I also feel I'm able to exercise better now, I may have been fighting the heavy meds, thinking it was my heart telling me to stop eg. before I could even sweat. Beta blockers do work as rev limiters and now I'm down to one third of what I used to take. I like this! Anyone else with heart peculiarities here?
  20. I´m drinking coffee again because of the possible health benefits that some say there are. I don´t know if there are any but eg. the keto-friendly doctor Antti Heikkilä recommends coffee for keto in his book. We finns are world record coffee drinkers so there may be bias / addiction in Heikkilä´s opinions, though. I can easily live without coffee though. I´m doing mostly 0MAD, with two cups of coffee in the morning. I add butter, coconut oil and cream to those cups so no strict 0MAD... but I´m doing well and feeling fine. My only carbs for the day often come from that cream. I use a percolator to get all the coffee fats. Good or bad? Again,no idea. My pulse or BP don´t react to coffee.
  21. Thank you,Scott. I´m ketovore rather than strict carni. At least for now. Those little things like cream in my (butter & coconut oiled) coffee give a couple of carbs. I´m also one of us that needs chillies and other seasonings,I´ve been using them all my life, keto or not.
  22. I'm in,even a bit late. Been on ketovore for about seven weeks now. Approx 5 g carbs. This month 99,4 kg -> 96,5 kg. I made an all meat chili the other day. Quite a big pot for a few days. Simmered smoked pork bones, added butter fried bacon and minced beef. Yellow Carolina Reaper,Scotch Bonnet. I also added Naga Morich and oregano last night. There is one carb gram because I added one spoonful of pure cacao powder for a nice twist.
  23. What meter are you using? I´ve been eyeballing some.
