Geoff’s Brisket, Texas Style
PeterT replied to Geezy's topic in Keto, Carnivore, & Animal-Based Recipes
Yeah, who'd have thought the science writers would could be so deceitful. We do suffer plenty of opposition but of course 'real life' experience is on our side. Hey Old Marine, do you have Raynaud's phenomenon? also know as 'white finger'. I had this nerve damage (now reversed) from years of chain saw vibration. -
Welcome Binny. You'll be OK. Give up drinking one day at a time. You don't need a drink today. Then tomorrow start by doing the same thing. Also, one reason we are here is that we give things up. We get good at it. I started by giving up Drugs, then I gave up Smoking, next was Booze, then Carbs, Last thing I gave up was plants.

My Health Got Worse - Is My Carnivore Diet to Blame? [Video/Podcast]
PeterT replied to Bob's topic in Articles & Resources
Amazing step by step logical approach. We are the best doctors we've got. In my case that's a worrying thought because I'm not that smart!- 9 replies

Yeah, very hard question to anwser. One way is to experiment on yourself. Do you sleep OK? Try eating more, no result try using more electrolyes. Then try eating more fat and less protein etc etc etc. Everything is within a range but we are all slightly different with our nutrient requirements

started another fast today
PeterT replied to Scott F.'s topic in General Health and Wellness Discussion
Here's one thought on IF. Recently I was diagnosed with IBD, I was in a bad way, 16 really unpleasant, rushed visits to the smallest room. This was something I'd had on and off for many years. Anyway, I had to do something and refused the meds, so I thought I'd give my guts a rest, let them heal was my thought, seemed logical. I did a 3 day fast, that was 2 months ago, I've just had my results back from a calprotectin test (the marker for IBD) and my doctor can find zero evidence of IBD, she's in shock! my calprotectin score was 6 mg/g, she said that's about the best score she's seen in anyone. I'll be doing this 3 day fast once every month. -
Cast Iron Pan VS Stainless Steel Pan
PeterT replied to Bob's topic in Everyday Chit Chat & Off-topic Discussion
I use one, it suits the cooking style I like for steaks. I give the steak a good sear then pop the lid on for a few minutes rest. I find it gives predictable results. And a bonus feature is the fat doesn't fly around quite so bad.- 36 replies

started another fast today
PeterT replied to Scott F.'s topic in General Health and Wellness Discussion
I fast 1st 2nd and 3rd of every month. For me the 1st day is the hardest. We burn ketones so energy levels are no problem. I used to have stubborn 3kg I couldn't get rid of ..... but that when with fasting. I feel 3 days gives your gut a break. I feel great for it. My advice, keep the salts and water up and make that 1st meal a small one. -
I really love bone broth so my slow cooker gets plenty of action. I'll cook something like Shoulder of lamb without adding any extra water. Think I'd do something different with the ground beef. My current favourite is just crumble it into chunks and brown it in tallow.

Yes. Loved the video too. It's very real ..... It makes a difference when you see the face and Geezy is a very real guy. Geezy if your watching this, One day I'd love to shake your hand and say 'Thanks' ....... 'your changing lives'. You ARE making a difference and I love you for it. Maybe one day I'll tell my story with DaveMac, just hope I could come across as genuine.

Help with digestion
PeterT replied to Squeege24's topic in Carnivore, Ketovore, Keto, & Low-Carb Support
As an IBD sufferer you know when your gut is damaged. Stools don't form properly, you get mucus and visits do get frequent. Do you have any blood? I honestly don't think Carnivore is an issue though of course it does take a while to adapt .... but you know all this. Is it possible you have IBS or IBD? -
Who remembers CoolHand Luke? Also, Beard Meats Food eats 24 eggs in this Video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McIgZi4_vpM

anyone a fan of Xylitol gum?
PeterT replied to ketomonster's topic in General Health and Wellness Discussion
I won't have Xylitol in the house because it's lethal to dogs. I do use a little stevia though -
poll How do you like your steak?
PeterT replied to Bob's topic in Carnivore, Ketovore, Keto, & Low-Carb Support
Many years ago while still at school I had a weekend job in a restaurant .... I remember a customer, when asked how he'd like his steak cooked replied, 'just tear off the horns and wipe it's ass'- 12 replies

Oh yes, go for it. Another nice method for a little different flavour is to let the anchovy melt into some hot fat then add the eggs. Only a little though.

Why is bacon so delicious
PeterT replied to Idunno's topic in Carnivore, Ketovore, Keto, & Low-Carb Support
Yeah, I've eaten wild boar in France and Germany and really enjoyed that, shame we don't have any boar in the UK. We hunted them to extinction I assume. -
Why is bacon so delicious
PeterT replied to Idunno's topic in Carnivore, Ketovore, Keto, & Low-Carb Support
No matter your religion I think Pigs get a bad press. I've heard them described as 'Dirty', but does that describe how WE keep them? I enjoy bacon but just occasionally it tastes too salty for me, I always take that to mean .... cut back on the salt a bit. -
Yeah, must admit I don't always enjoy them ... and I find the 'In Olive Oil' worrying too. I'm always thinking 'hmmmm, real olive oil?'

Most mornings I eat 4 eggs in the form of an omelette. While it's cooking I throw in cooked ground beef and chopped bacon and maybe 2 or 3 anchovies and cheese ..... It's kind of a Carni pizza

Why Keto & Carnivore?
