Lieutenant Dan reacted to Terry in New to CarnivoreAfter 4 years of carnivore I now enjoy meat more than ever. I've got some thawing out right now for today's OMAD.
Also keep in mind food is not a reward or a treat or something special. It is nutrition that you need to survive and get/remain healthy. Fuel your body with what it is supposed to be fueled with and you will do well in your life. human history shows us what we have eaten for millions of years and that is what we should still be eating today. Fatty meat and eggs is all you really need. NO fruits or veggies are required! I do SO MUCH better with NO fruit or veg.
I also have noticed that I have seen some of my biggest "healthy body feelings" in the last year or so, So it's taken me about 3 years of a PHD (proper human diet) to clear out the bad and start to replace it with better. now at 4 years I'm more excited than ever about this WOE just to see what the future brings for myself.
Just "Eat your meat and live a long life"

Lieutenant Dan reacted to Copper in New to CarnivoreI personally chose to move to carnivore. My life eating habits got me in a poor state of health so I figure it's going to take time to recover. I am currently medication free, drug free and alcohol free. I'm hoping to give myself a good start and take the time I need for my body to recover as well. So thankyou for your post and all the best to you in your journeys too.

Lieutenant Dan reacted to Miranda in New to CarnivoreWelcome to the community! This is such a great first step. How did you find us? Do you have family/friends that are supportive of this lifestyle or are you going to have to contend with opinions? I fall into the latter category. I was just told yesterday that I was going to get tired of eating juicy grilled steak. Hahahaha.

Lieutenant Dan reacted to Bob in New to CarnivoreWelcome aboard Dan!
We're here to help. You can go back to keto and then transition gradually to carnivore from there. Or you can jump in head first. There may be some jiggery-pokery with the adaptation symptoms for the first few weeks but they shall pass.
Basically, eat fatty red meat (with low carb veg if you choose keto) until you are comfortably full. Enjoy 3 meals a day (or 2 larger meals a day) and avoid snacking. Don't restrict calories. Aim for 1g of fat (or more) for every 1g of protein.
If you opt for keto, don't fall for Big Food's fake keto products. There are no such things as keto bread, keto tortillas, keto cookies, keto protein bars, etc. If a package at the store says "keto" on it, it's probably not really keto, lol.
Avoid grains, refined sugars, and seed oils - the unholy trinity ;)

Lieutenant Dan got a reaction from Geezy in New to CarnivoreHi Everyone! I'm new to carnivore and this forum. I had good success with low carb over the years, but slowly was dragged away over time by doctors mainly saying my health was in danger due to high cholesterol numbers. I listened to their advice reluctantly (hey, they're doctors, right?) including lowering my "bad" protein intake, and introducing "good" carbs, not to mention taking statins. I slowly gained more weight and eventually went on a GLP1. My fasting insulin and c peptide numbers became very high, not to mention I had some bad side effects. And I didn't lose much weight. I took myself off the medication a few weeks ago and the side effects have been subsiding. Now, I want to hit keto hard, and carnivore seems the best way for me to proceed for at this point.
I came here because I thought I might need a little support and information. I look forward to interacting with you all, and taking in your experiences!

Lieutenant Dan reacted to ketomonster in New to Carnivoremy experience at four months is don't take nutrition advice from a doctor. They truly work in a insane asylum. I applaud your reasonableness.

Lieutenant Dan reacted to Scott F. in New to CarnivoreWelcome to the forum.
I'm biased but I think you made a pretty good decision.
A few things to keep in mind. Keep your fat content up high and proteins moderate. Make sure you use salt liberally or use an electrolyte type drink mix (or make your own mix). Rule of thumb is eat till you are full and then eat when you are hungry.
Tons of information on the board and tons of knowledgeable people here.
Good luck.
Scott
