Good Morning My Carnivore Fam !!!!
Watching my success has motivated my wife to join me on the Carnivore Life, Thank You LORD !!!
She has now been Carnivore with me for little over 4 weeks, now let me set the table for you to assist you with your thoughts before commenting back.
She/we are NOT STRICT carnivore, we have zero plant matter in our diet but we do have some Dairy.
Example for her dairy is she places a slice of cheese on top of her eggs each morning and will add milk to her black coffee. We will also occasionally havre a yogurt with no sugars or fruit in it.
Of course no breads or any other typical carbs - IMO our only divergence on the Carnivore regimen is the dairy .
We drink loads of water and typically 1 of the no sugar LMNT drinks each day.
    I have lost 21 #'s in 5 weeks but she has lost 7 #'s in 4 weeks.
I am trying to help her to keep her encouraged and motivated to remain on plan.
I thought (she refused) maybe do a 1 day water only fast to kick start her weight loss.
She is in a very sedentary work life with nearly zero physical activity. That said one of the appealing things to her was that she could lose the weight without having to workout and stuff like that.
I am prior military and am not working out but I am neturally more physically active and have told her that is why i am probably losing more than her.
The challenge to that thought process is that my step-mother saw my progress at week 2 and immediately jumped on board and has lost 15#'s in 3.5weeks and she is most certainly NOT physically active. HA HA
Of course every social media post out there is someone screaming about how much and how fast they lost weight on either Keto or Carnivore so she feels like it is just not gonna work for her.
Any thoughts or experience y'all can share will be very helpful THANK YOU ALL !!!
I have another question regarding Electrolytes but will dig into the archives more of the prior post out on the board before i post the question, it is likely already been asked.

Thank You Scott for sharing your experience and thoughts.
What is the fasting deal - I mean i know what it means to FAST but you mentioned a 5 day fast - why so incredibly long - is that something specific to Carnivore or just something you do for other reasons
    THANKS deercamp67

Good Morning Carnivore Peeps - today i substituted 2 thick slices of Salt Pork for the typical thick sliced bacon i have with 3 eggs each morning - it occurred to me that my efforts to have enough salt in my diet naturally to help me get and keep my electrolytes in balance could be greatly enhanced by using salt pork instead of plain bacon or sausages -
With that shared, has anyone else used salt pork in their carnivore journey ?
How did that work for you ?
What have you done in your food intake to increase and keep electrolytes in the appropriate ranges?
    THANKS Y'ALL

Tried making my own yogurt for the first time. I used heavy cream instead of milk a I like it. Very similar to Greek yogurt. My daughter said it tastes like sour cream but with more flavor. I’ll be making some more in the future but next time I want to use actual cultures instead of just using a store bought yogurt for the starter.

My next first thing to try was chaffles. Ok, I’m hooked. These thing are great. We went shopping yesterday for feed and groceries and I spotted this mini waffle iron for less than ten bucks so I picked one up just to try out chaffles.
So I made three different kinds today.
Egg & mozzarella. Excellent. I made a sandwich out of this one with some venison sausage with a little butter and Mayo.
Egg & cheddar. Very good. I made an egg sandwich out of this one and will definitely be doing this again.
Egg & parmigiana. Nope. Did not like this one at all so it’s off the future list.

Welcome, and congrats on your and your wife's progresses.
We are in similar boats. I lost 30-31 pounds in 31-32 days to get started and after 18 months I am around 95 pounds lost. My wife has started and stopped a couple different times and started off with 7-8lbs the first couple weeks and then sort of planed off with not much showing on the scale.
The first rule of thumb is not to use the scale as a measuring device. (listen to what I say, not what I do, because I can't help myself, LOL) Sometimes the weight will stay the same but the body composition will change. As my weight dropped I could go a week or so with no change in the scale, bouncing up and down a couple three pounds but at the same time I would have to cinch up my belt a notch or two. The scale said one thing but my pants were a tad bit baggier.
Secondly, sometimes the weight falls off fast and the metabolic changes come after some time. And the reverse can be true as well. The weight sort of hangs out while the body is healing.
Everyone handles dairy differently. Some frown upon it while eating carnivore and others it is no big deal. I still drink milk on occasion, not a ton but some a couple three times per week. For me, as an individual if my weight were falling, both on the scale and in composition, it was like a glass of milk would put the breaks on the fall and send me into what most call a 'stall'. I'm not opposed to dairy, and I still drink it, but I have found that for me milk is a weight loss killer.
It could be a combination of things. I'd say ditch the milk for a stretch and see if that is the issue, especially if the milk is early in the morning when the 'dawn effect' is in play with blood glucose. The milk (sugars) will push that glucose level up and then the insulin response creates insulin resistance over time. Battling insulin resistance can be an uphill battle is so many things that affect our health, weight loss being one of the primary ones.
    Good luck. Keep pushing.

I'm a big fan of slated pork as well as fatback and such. I also salt the other foods I eat as well.
I missed on the electrolytes early on, simply knowing better, but not doing better. I tried some salt/electrolyte additives but couldn't find one that tasted good enough to consistently buy. I then started to make my own electrolyte mixes at home with some really cheap salts/potassium from the grocery store. From there adding them to water no longer tasted all that good so I used my electrolyte mix as a "table salt" of sorts.
If I know I'm going to be outside in the hot working I will add some extra salt, most of the time the day before, but at least that morning. On average all I am getting is what I am adding or from one of the salted pork selections.
90% is thru food, either salted or me salting it.
That drops a bit when I do my 4 or 5 day water fasts. I take salt under the tongue followed by water.

    Good Morning Carnivores,
I just setup my account with your forum in order to find folks that i can ask questions and look for guidance from people other than social media influencers whom frankly i can't seem to trut that they may be just doing what they need in order to get clicks and money.
I started on Aug 8, 2025 with the goal to lose 50#, get off all my Big Pharma Rx, and feel better each day.
Within a week i had lost 6#'s and all my bodyaches and stiffness was gone.
I am just over 2 weeks in now and down 14# and feeling wonderful, but recently started having diarrhea.
I will search the forum and see what all i can learn before i start throwing questions at the group - i am sure that i am experiencing things that everyone else has already goen through.
THANK YOU everyone for this group!

Welcome. This is a great place to learn and chat and teach with your own experiences. We all can have some similar experiences, but we are individuals, and the carnivore effects are not cookie-cutter.
    What Bob said. LOL
It is an adjustment. Most people have stool issues but in the beginning, it is no more 'going carnivore' or 'going anything else'. Most anytime there is a drastic change in diet the body reacts with some stomach issues of sorts.
It is normal. I t can be a pain and hassle, but it is not long term. As Bob, said, you will get your new normal as you adjust. Once you adjust and dial in your fat to protein ratios to you, your new normal will form. I have found it I miss low on fats my stool stiffens and is not normal. If I miss high, eating much more fat than I need I can get loose.
I think most have similar stories.
    Again, welcome.

    Welcome aboard!

Many people experience adaptation/transition/withdrawal symptoms with the first 2-8 weeks. One of these symptoms is unpredictable stools, often toggling back and forth between either diarrhea or a perceived feeling of constipation. Part of the reason for this is the change in your microbiome. The population of carb-loving microbes will drop off. The long term benefits of this will eventually be normal stools (your new normal might be every several days instead of several times a day) and no gas.
You have to wait this process out. Be patient.
