pauls got a reaction from Bob in Time for a new 15 day sensorMy Libre 2 Plus sensor expired, I applied a new one and after a 1 hour warmup a BGL is reported every minute. Numbers look real and I confirmed so with a finger stick. For the moment it looks good.
The bonus is I also marking my second 24 hour period in a row of needing No fast acting insulin. I also cut my daily dose of long acting insulin by four units. My recent record is 3 days without using short acting insulin. Her is to going for 4 days in a row !

pauls got a reaction from Bob in The Holiday Cheesecakes are doneA chocolate, a pumpkin, and a plain/lemon. All baked, chilled, and portion into containers and in the freezer. 1.5 pounds of Philadelphia cream cheese in each one ! They are very carnivore. This will get me to the new year with very few carbs. I might try a batch or two of a low carb cookie recipe.
My thanksgiving is home alone. As the grand kids will be on the road in Irish Dance Competitions. I bought two good size packages of turkey thighs for the crock pot.

pauls got a reaction from Bob in Smart phone, ughhI was having issues with my Libre Plus CGM. The manufacturer guided me through an extensive trouble shoot. A phones issue, a few days ago the phone software update was unsuccessful. Fixed it. Then was told to uninstall my Libre App. I choose the wrong sequence of steps to do so. My Blood Glucose Monitor data is now in two separate files that can not be put back together i am told.
At any rate, the CGMis functioning better. So I going to order some labs, 90 days from the last. A1c, CMP, and a Lipid panel. Going forward i will track with labs as a base.

pauls got a reaction from Bob in All i watch ...The only TV I ever see is NFL games. On Thanksgiving Day it was football and some advertisement for a Cholesterol Drug. A 'Heart' was crying out to its owner how they needed to do more. And of course it stated how the studies showed spectacular results. Two things, the side effects where HUGE. Scared me to say no. And most l likely if u took this medication you would live 3 more days. The Cholesterol narrative is so alive and well.
Currently 25% of patients say no to Statins. I thankfully am allergic to statins. I think. But not sure, this ad was foe an injection.

pauls got a reaction from ol_hilly in Thanksgiving Day, it's changedIt's not like the old days. I will not go into what the menu was years ago. For me this time it is slow cooked turkey thighs. A favorite part of the bird for me., To be followed by a carnivore pumpkin cheesecake. Topped with *whipped cream. This cheesecake gets great reviews when served. A very generous portion contains 6 whole carbs.
For my thankful part, I have resolved Manny issue. My diabetes remains, I respond as a T1d now (likely now LADA) . My Blood Glucose Level is controlled rather tightly with long acting insulin and a Zero carb one meal a day diet. My future is the best it can be. I do gave bold plans for my future.
Everyone have a great holiday.

pauls got a reaction from Geezy in Been a tight 90 daysNear Zero carbs a day. A phone/CGM issue, and some insulin struggles. I was going to get an A1c lab. But looking at my CGM data i feel pretty confident my A1c is ~ 6.5 and I ok with that. I just keep to Zero carbs, more exercise, and pay close attention to my insulin dosage. Give it ~ 120 days and do labs.
Come then I going to get blood work to make a LADA Determination. You all enjoy Thanksgiving. I having Turkey thighs in a Carnivore Sauce. Followed by pumpkin cheesecake topped with whipped cream.
I made these choices because my Blood Glucose Level is so good and I cutting back on insulin again.

pauls got a reaction from ol_hilly in A Big weekendMy son, Justin, now 40, became an amputee at age 12. This year he lost like 80 pounds and logged 1,000 miles in training to run. On Saturday in Philadelphia he ran a 1/2 Marathon. An impressive ~ 2 hour finish tome. He exceeded everyone's expectations. He works making prosthetic legs and a foot manufacturer sponsors his running. He told me the Philadelphia crowd was soooo super supportive! Hopefully you can see him in photo below.

pauls got a reaction from Bob in Why are so many quitting Carnivore?Just a few, makes good click bait too. For some they are addicted and want their carbs back, imo. Not me, not ever. Just a few carbs can wreck my blood glucose.

pauls got a reaction from Geezy in The new Libre 2 & 3 Plus CGM issuesOn September 30th, the old 2 and 3 CGM sensors were discontinued. Replaced by the 2 Plus and 3 Plus sensors.
If you or a loved one uses these sensors this will be informative. There is a problem with both. These sensors last 15 days now. And there is a new phone app. The app is called Libre, ot Libre by abbott.
I use c the 2 plus most Insurance plans prefer the Liber over Dexcom for cost considerations.
Enough background. The Libre sensors read your Blood Glucose Level (BGL) every minute and via blue tooth send it to your app on your phone. The sensor is worn on the back of either upper arm. Once on your arm it takes 1 hour to "warm up" before sending readings. Readings can be somewhat erratic for up to 48 hours. The sane was true for the older 2 & 3 models. But, now it continues for the sensor life of 15 days. For me my readings look 'normal' for 3 to 5 hours then I am doing nicely at 110 in 3 to 5 minutes I am at 52 , then 6 to 8 minutes later I am 154. 5 to 10 minutes later I back steady at 110. Nothing a diabetic wants to see or deal with. So I have confirmed the 110 reading with a finger stick.
Abbott, the company making the Libre is aware of this issue. They say there are 2 teams working on the issue. I wish them success ASAP.
I deal with this with a few finger sticks. And never make a hasty decision about my treatment,,, like what ineed to eat, insulin type and how much.
My old Libre 2 sensors that i uesd for a few years were pretty reliable. In fact the 90 day BGL report was a good prediction of my A1c.
Be well, pray for Abbott.
