  1. I've had 3 bouts with heat exhaustion all while working on fire or MVA scenes. Wearing turnout gear is like wearing a thermos. The first time was on a MVA in 100+ heat I got escorted to the ER and had a couple bags of saline ran through me. I quickly figured out how to recognize it. Mine always start with a headache. Then if I work though it cause I got a job to do, that's when the trouble starts. I've also pulled people off the scene for getting too hot. After a bout with it, it takes quite a while to get back where you can take the heat. I have a window unit ac but have not turned it on for better than five years. I like to remember what it was like before we had air conditioners. Mom would fix a daybed out in the yard. Now I use a hammock. and enjoy my decaf or tea in the yard at night. And I was telling someone the other day when they were complaining about their car's ac not working, That I've only owned one vehicle that had a working ac. That was a 77 chrysler new yorker that had leather seats and am/fm radio. Dang I thought I had it made then. Just think, six more weeks and some will be complaining that it's too cold.
  2. Just drink some hot water and tell yourself it's decaf.
  3. I watched Mitch's video as well as Dr Berry's video on mixing your own. I figured if I use the one a day supplement size, there'd be little chance in overdoing anything. But something extra in your water on a 100 degree day wouldn't hurt. Or I can refer back to my old deceased doctor that said, "Don't buy into all that crap. Just drink water. " The other doctor in the building always promoted gatorade and we all figured he owned stock in it. I made a bottle to take with me today to go help an old friend with his mower and yard. This time I used a mortar/pestle and worked much better than turning it into a cloud. 99 mg of potassium is a long ways from 4700 mg RDA and 250 Mag and salt to taste.
  4. Sour cream is like ice cream you can eat on your burger without feeling weird. Some roast beef deli meat earlier today and tonight, a pound of ground with sour cream on it. Since I went to the store, I'll have heavy cream in my decaf tonight. Went to the chiropractor today and was thinking. I used to always stop and get a couple slices of pizza on my way home. Then for the last couple years, I been visiting the local grocery store there and getting some deli meat and a fifty cent bottle of water. Cheaper and better for me.
  5. Beings I'm too cheap to order the ready made stuff online and pretty sure if I ordered bulk, that half of it wouldn't get used, I had a hare brained idea. I already buy magnesium and potassium tablets. So I took a mag and a couple potassium and tossed in a stainless spice grinder and turned it into powder. Poured it into a water bottle and WaLa, instant electrolytes. I didn't add salt this time. I already salt everything. May add about a 8th teaspoon of salt in the next bottle. Anyhow, it tasted just fine. Was alil cloudy and a teeny bit of grit in the bottom. Must not of dissolved all the way. Figured it wouldn't hurt since it's been kinda hot this week and sposta be next week. And I'm also too cheap to get an AC.
  6. A pound of ground with some smoked cheddar. Then took my cup of decaf outside where it was cooler and entertained the cats.
  7. I hear ya. While part of me likes to think I enjoy the garden fresh cucumbers and zucchini, the other part can't wait for garden season to be over and get back to regular BBBE
  8. Maybe simmer your soup with the lid off for awhile to evaporate the liquids. Reduce it down from a soupy soup to a thicker stew of sorts. Also, ground pork rinds will thicken, and is carni friendly.
  9. 8 slices of hog jowl, 3 eggs and a half a garden cuke. Oh, and a cup of decaf. no cream this week. Early on I found out that I can no longer eat a whole cucumber in one sitting.
  10. I had 6 quarter inch thick slices of smoked pork belly and four eggs. Just smoked, no brine or seasonings. And a cup of regular coffee. Have since dipped into the bag of coffee beans that I've had since before I went caffeine free. Can't bear to think they'll go to waste. Haven't really noticed any difference much. Maybe because I don't make it very strong.
  11. I remembered to put mini waffle maker on a list, then remembered to take it with me. So tonight I had two burgers from my neighbors cow. Egg and porkrinds. Next I'll try it with cheese. Messy, dripping with butter. Just like I like.
  12. I came across a couple apps that lists seed oil free restaurants nearest to you. This one will let you browse the directory without downloading the app. https://localfats.com/ This one really wants you to download the app, but a skim though the blog will reveal info about some of your common eateries. https://www.seedoilscout.com/
  13. A pound of ground and a half pound of bacon. No eggs today. Geezy, how do the guinea eggs compare? Duck? Chicken? Or just like a guinea egg?
  14. I thought a whole avocado was a serving? I too like the occasional zucchini, yellow squash, or tomato (in season). Found out I can not handle cucumbers like I used to.
  15. Chuck steak and four eggs with extra butter. And a couple cups of green tea afterwards. I was thinking, I remember thinking that green tea was the most tasteless tea there was and why would anyone drink that stuff. Since drinking it for the last few months, I actually look forward to it.
  16. Me too Geezy, me too.... Fishing that is. Outta catfish.
  17. So, kinda like an aquarium heater? Old Guy Carnivore uses one. The owner at work got one and was gonna do great things with it. He didn't. Didn't do something right. I offered to buy the old junk sous vide stick but he wouldn't fall for it.
  18. Went to the Bonecracker (Chiropractor) today and was told to not do anything the rest of the day. So I stopped by the local butcher on way home and got a couple chuck steaks which I had for supper. My one meal for the day. They also gave me a sample of their homemade jerky and meat sticks. They know what my eating habit is and try to accommodate.
  19. Had a girlfriend one time that had an electric grill. Best thing I remember is that we smoked up the house really bad. Don't think we ever used it inside again. Maybe if one had a drip tray on top of the coils?
  20. I walked a mile and a quarter this evening. Would have been a mile and a half but the neighbor insisted I ride to the top of the hill. I normally walk a mile. Half to the top then back. Cept this time the neighbors and kids were down at the creek which is another quarter, so I walked on down to visit.
  21. We have that in the little store I part time at. Product of Austrailia, this is. Sure is good tho in the skillet with a few eggs. I'm having a pound of ground beef as well.
  22. I had salmon tonight. Wednesday I went to the big city and visited Aldi's and got some exotic food, ie, the lamb and salmon. And of all things, I forgot the paffle maker at Wally world. I didn't write it down cause I would remember that.... uh huh.
  23. When I had goats, I would name them after the folks I worked with. We hd a high turnover so I never ran outta names. ... One day I asked Rosie if she felt alright? She asked why. I told her that her four legged counterpart passed away the night before.
  24. Taurus was just a name for several steers. Taurus being the astrological sign of the bull. Just seemed to fit, especially if they were born in that time of year.
  25. We always did. Saved on coming up with new names. "Bacon, Pork chop, Ham hock". Then there were the twin calves, "Tony Baloney and Tommy Salami". I've had about a half dozen Taurus's. I remember the last hog I had processed. As I lead him off the trailer (Com'on Porkchop). The lady there said, I just can't believe your going to eat your pet.
