New here - will cravings ever stop?
Geezy is spot on, he has become my 'go to'. LOL I think the biggest thing is the carnivore diet is about eliminating things from your diet, maybe even moreso, than what you are eating now. I would think you need more than a month of adjustment, most do. I started on May 8th, but I had just bought a 12 pack of Mountain Dew and a tub of ice cream. I could not force myself to toss it out so my first week of Carnivore was far from Carnivore. Maybe I actually started around the 15th or so. I didn't really have any cravings as I had a really high protein and high fat content but I did start off with great hydration nor electrolytes. I didn't read the directions. I think what stopped my cravings was I have never been big on drinking water. I used the flavored packets. They were advertised as Zero Sugar but the artificial flavorings had to have had some sugar. Maybe that weaned me to where I am now just drinking water. Not sure. I would say you are on the right path and maybe you (as an individual need five weeks or six weeks or whatever). Good luck. Stop by. I'm a big fan of other people's experiences. Scott

Happy Thanksgiving y'all.
That is not a bad way to go. Nothing wrong with a slight adjustment to "tradition". Happy Thanksgiving to all. Scott

10 week carnivore
I'm still high protein/high fat. I can see his point in theory, and I doubt I have the experience nor education to argue the point. What I am rolling with is what I have done thus far and how I feel, especially how I feel. I'm not sure there are words for 'pain free' after being in pain off and on for several years (2018). I'm all for trying something new and listening to others, but gambling with pain is a bit different. The high protein/high fat approach has dropped 78lbs to boot. I can see some logic in his point, but I think/feel I am on a pretty good plan. Scott

The Sardine Fast
I did a couple fasts and for me, hydration and electrolytes were my primary concerns. As far as sardines go, you are tougher than me, I can't swing them myself. I have been the opposite. I am seldom actually hungry. I can't eat near what I was eating seven months ago. Best of luck. Keep us posted. I'm a fan of other people's experiences. (still learning) Scott

10 week carnivore
Hope all is well. I have a primary who is not opposed to the idea of eating this way but he wishes I would lower the fat content and choose leaner cuts. His opinion and approach has some merit in theory. Per "standards" my cholesterol is high. Eating this way gets me into ketosis and the ketones are running wild. I have (had) plenty of body fat for the body to use as energy. He thinks I should eat a higher fat content when the weight is gone or I have gotten down to a lower body fat percentage. I can see that as a point, we discussed it, and he supports the choices I have made. My Neurologists on the other hand, was genuinely excited to see not only my progress but the means to the progress. I don't do stats or research other medical issues but the carnivore approach is wreaking havoc on the MS community. So much so, Stanford is now doing clinical research. My Neurologist is onboard 100%. She even said as a medical doctor with years and years in the classroom she never took an actual class on nutrition. Her approach is people were eating this way, and using food for "medicine" long before the pill was invented. I'm now giving weekly and bi-weekly updates so she can bank it is as 'knowledge'. I sort of lucked out I guess. Hope all is well/getting better with the surgery. Nice job with the eggs. There are actually tons of ways to eat carnivore and I have settled on 'steak and eggs' being the primo approach (for me anyways). I'm not sure there is a better way to go. LOL Hoping for continued progress. Scott

Great visit with my Neurologist today
I have yet to climb up on the pedestal and preach......but it has worked well for me. A buddy of mine's wife has MS and she too is not doing well. I gave the spiel on doing it for a weight loss hack and then stumbled upon things even more amazing. They too acted like I had fallen off the deep end. I'm hard-headed and a nay-sayer at heart but early on in my diagnosis if I had known/heard of others using this diet to benefit a medical condition, I would have crawled right up on the bandwagon. I mean if there any possibility of improving one's health, reversing a life-threatening disease and possibly ditching pills and potions....and all I have to is eat steak and drink water. Even a knot head like me would have given it an honest shot. I found the best benefits purely by accident. Damn near like lottery like so far. (and in some cases, maybe better) Hopefully your friend gets better. I wish him the best as I know the downsides to a MS condition. Thoughts and prayers. Scott

Standing strong against the hate.
If I knew how to locate and copy/paste memes I would add one that pertains to this on the meme thread. It was a guy who was being lectured by a rather large guy holding a MacDonald's burger with, fries and a coke. The recipient said, "As soon as I said, I'm on the carnivore diet, all I eat is meat, slat and water". From that point everyone becomes a doctor on my poor decisions. In so many words. Nice post. keep them coming. Very enjoyable. Scott

Carnivore and kidney function
Thanks. I have another round of bloodwork in a few weeks. Usually about 6 weeks after the infusion. This is the first time that number ever actually moved. So, of course I go to the primary source of medical information on the planet....Google. The first probable cause was a HIGH PROTEIN diet and the only thing that has changed of late is I increased the protein intake for lifting purposes. I didn't think (and still don't think) I ate a ton extra, but I guess everyone can be different. I average about a 14oz. rib eye a day, or maybe 12oz or so of burger, or a couple three chicken thighs. It was a job to get that eaten. For the extra I added bacon or sausage with a couple-three eggs in the morning. It does not sound like a lot to me but maybe it is for me. Next round of bloodwork will give more details. Scott

Before and now
Congrats. I wish I had taken some before pics. Going to look for some older shots and do the comparison. Again, congrats. Scott

Carnivore, OMAD & Workouts
I work rotating swing shifts so my workouts are early in the mornings on my days off. I try to stagger and skip a day to get to two of my rest days are on my dayshifts so I don't have to get up at 3:30-4:00 in the morning. I feel better if I work out in the morning vs. the evening. I had been on OMAD for the most part until about a month or so ago. I have progressed in the gym over the last few months to where the work has increased in both weight and alternate between volume and intensity. My workouts are about 40-45 minutes. I don't follow the norm and rest X number of minutes between sets. I just roll thru. I come home and walk between 3 and four miles. I'm thinking if you can get the work in and then get the rest in as well, the schedule is what works best for you. Scott

Eating when your only hungry, versus eating when you know you need to eat?
Keep us posted. I'm not there yet but the weight continues to fall, and it feels like in time I will get there. Interested in how people deal with this situation/scenario. Scott

Great visit with my Neurologist today
A little more good news as well. In six+ months I have dropped 77lbs and have been off medications after three to four weeks on carnivore. My immunoglobulin numbers made a pretty good shift across the board. The sets that have been regularly low moved up, some by as much as 15%. Meaning my immune system is working better, more as normal. The sets that had been high (overly active immune system, attacking good proteins vs. bad) those numbers dropped across the board. Instead of having 4 or 5 sets out of their respective range, I now only have two, with one being low and one being high. I thought the neurologist was genuinely engaged with me and carnivore yesterday, today's conversation was even more so. My numbers have been jacked up since I got sick in 2018. I went on a couple trash diets and lost as much as 30lbs but zero affect to the NMO/SD. Fast forward to 2024. I went on Carnivore in May and the immunoglobulin numbers moved a little but nothing major after three months. Fast forward another three months and several of the numbers made a shift to the positive. I lost a bunch of weight, but the only real change is the change in diet. So now the doctor would like to touch base on a weekly/bi-weekly basis to keep check on changes as they play out. She is now doing a deep dive into the Carnivore lifestyle. She is the doctor, and I am giving her places to do research, learn, become familiar with some of the approaches. My Google/youtube degree is finally paying off. LOL Scott

Carnivore and kidney function
I'm going to move back into that direction. The morning meal was for the 'extra protein' to build muscle and the evening meal has been to eat dinner with my wife. I doubt I have been actually hungry on either of the occasions. I have more bloodwork in another month or so in late December. I am planning to eat more 'sensibly' between now and then. Scott

Carnivore and kidney function
Some of my bloodwork has been posted. The only thing out of the norm is my Urea-Nitrogen (BUN) number jumped from the 16-17 it has been for years to 24. One of the causes can be a high protein diet. I have had two panels ran since I started Carnivore and the previous two were 16 and then 17 about 3 months or so in. Today showed a significant jump. As of late I have been eating a lot more. I have been lifting a bit more and have also been eating more to have enough protein to build muscle. I6 does not feel excessive but I am not sure. I eat a couple three, sometimes four eggs in the morning. If we have leftover meat from the night before I eat that too. I then eat again at night with my wife. Still strictly carnivore, but I am eating more than I feel like eating (if that makes sense). I think I will ease back to eating when I am hungry which will be about OMAD and see if numbers track down. First time I seen those numbers go up ever, and the only thing changed is I purposely increased protein the last few weeks/month ago. Scott

Great visit with my Neurologist today
Today was my follow up appointment. I had traded emails over the past few months. In the emails she seemed genuinely interested in the Carnivore approach but that failed in comparison to the visit today. As i was walking in she and another Neurologist were talking and I heard 'animal based diet'. I didn't know they were talking about me. She came in and asked if the other Neurologist could sit in on the visit. The conversation covered my start in May til now. They both asked a number of questions about what I eat, how I feel and the correlation between the diet, the weight loss and the coming off the medicine for inflammation. I have read many non-doctor you-tubers say how doctors do not actually study nutrition and just go off what has been 'put out' by the fraternity. My Neurologist actually said it out loud. She told me she had become really interested in the carnivore approach in the MS community and its affects. So interested, she wants me to drop her emails every week or so documenting my progress/setbacks, whatever, just general information. It was a really good visit. Scott

Nice to meat you 🥩
Scott F. replied to Jamie Henry Brown's post in a topic in Introduce Yourself & Welcome to the Tribe!Welcome. I'm a little over six months in and looked at Carnivore as an 'easy for me' weight loss plan. I stumbled onto the bigger picture purely by accident. I didn't research nor read; I simply dove right in without any forethought. Turns out, this is a pretty good way to go. Scott

Eating when your only hungry, versus eating when you know you need to eat?
Ditto on the above. Carnivore, pardon the wording, can be 'apples and oranges' for the young and the older. For me, when I eat meat, especially red meat, I am totally full with what I see as a small portion. I don't feel like I get pulled into fasting but it just sort of happens. I'm not hungry all the time so I don't eat all the time. When I eat it is because I am trying to build some muscle at 55. Building muscle at 55 is difficult enough but not wanting to eat the protein/calories needed is another obstacle. For a young person who is still growing I would say eat what your body tells you and then maybe some more if you are active in your day-to-day life. I don't recommend fasting as I don't know all the affects as I am still experimenting with it myself. I would guess a younger person would need the nutrients more than the fasting. but again, no real experience/knowledge in this area. (I'm new to the carnivore and at 55, not exactly a young pup anymore) Good luck. Scott

The LMNT Controversy
I didn't read the article but there is a sports drink called PRIME that is in a similar boat. I have been straight water for a couple months now. The first three or four I used flavor packets that were probably similar to LMNT. The Food Lion brand Pink Lemonade hade a listing for zero sugar. I am sure the "SUGAR" was slid in with a different name and maybe the amounts were minuscule as well, but I am sure they are present. Scott
