One week weigh in
Congrats. I'm just over 90 days. It has been quite the amazing process for me. Best of luck and continues successes. Scott

Hot dogs?
I had not had one since I started in May. Last weekend they did a cookout for us at work. I ate me chuck steak while the shift enjoyed the hotdogs off the grill. At the end of the shift there were a ton of leftovers and I ate a couple of the 'red hot dogs'. I had forgotten how good they tasted. it would not be a go to for me at this point but if 'out and about' it would not be the worst choice. Scott

most recent bloodwork/NMOSD-Devic's syndrome
I had read about waiting for a year. I have two infusions per year and blood work a few weeks out and a few weeks after. When I first started reading and watching videos on the positive affects of carnivore in the MS community I was absolutely blown away. Another 'who woulda thunk it?' for me. I read so many stories that were somewhere between miraculous and too good to be true. I'm somewhere between 'gotta give it time' and 'hopes at a higher level'. Probably more 'it has only been 90 days. I think 52 pounds and no pain medicine is way more than I would have ever expected and my story would be the one I read and said, "Really?". LOL As of late I am shifting a little more toward red meat but not totally abandoning other proteins. (Tonight was leg quarters on the smoker) Tomorrow night is rib eyes and shrimp for a little get together in the cabin. Babbling a bit, but the first 90 days was maybe a tad more red meat but all in all maybe half in half. I am also wondering if the lean toward red meat will show better results than the half and half approach. Like most things, time will tell. Scott

most recent bloodwork/NMOSD-Devic's syndrome
I have been on the diet 90 days as of today. I had some immunoglobulin blood work done earlier in the week and the results just posted. My Immunoglobulin A numbers were still high at 388 (signs of infection and inflammation from an underlying illness) and my IM m numbers were low (51) which is actually improved from May. I have had nothing but the positives of the carnivore diet the first 90 days so there are zero complaints. I thought i would see a better number on the 'infections and inflammation' IMG a because I have not had to use any pain nor anti-inflammatory medicines since May. (Knocking on wood) I have not been sick since way early in the year. The IMG m number showed improvement, but I guess part of me was swinging for the fences. LOL My Vitamin D numbers jumped considerably to normal. I have been taking Vitamin D supplements for the longest and the numbers just lulled around really low. That is a plus. I think I am going to go with 'it has only been 90 days' and go from there. 52lbs and pain free within the first 90 days is not too shabby. There will be another set in November. Like with everything, time will tell. Scott

Cast iron
I'd season the pan again. You can do it with oil and your oven (youtube). I do mine in a firepit. Then it is important that the pans get 'gently' washed and dried. And never leave them soaking. Cast iron is very porous and will 'absorb'. After absorption there is flaking. I'm not sure on the affects of the flaking but I do know if we soaked one of my Grandma's cast pans we would most definitely have some health problems coming. Scott

Just started and going extreme
Yepper. I had to stumble upon this with the 70% grinds and then with the 60/40 and 50/50 I did myself there is enough, so it does not all cook out. I still add some bacon/butter to the grease and make a 'gravy of sorts'. Lots of fats but more importantly it tastes amazing. I'm going to try to add the bacon to the burger and check that out. It has to be good. My Pops use to say you could put three slices of bacon between two pieces of cardboard and at least one person would ask for seconds. Bacon has the power. Scott

Must of been the pork
I'm the same about the pork. I would not be happy giving that up. LOL When I eat bacon, it is with eggs and butter so I may be hiding the pork effect. But if we have pork chops or cook butts/shoulders I can feel the difference. It has been a while since we did a pork belly so maybe that would tell me if it's the actual pork or the lack of fat with certain pork. When we do thighs or quarters, I'm already a big fan of the skin, but can feel the difference from chicken to the red meats. On Monday there were a lot of chuck steaks/Dever steaks that were passed over at the grocery store. Most all of them were marked down. These seemed particularly fatty and I am guessing that is why they were passed over. I'm thinking 'lucky me'. I'm all red meat for the next few days. Scott

Must of been the pork
Made the same comment earlier on a different post. I can feel the difference between the red meats and chicken/pork, especially after the gym the following day. I'm guessing the fat content is different. Who woulda thunk that? Scott

2 Months carnivore, still very fatigued, brain fog and irritable
The diet can be very individualistic. For me, my fatigue and the run-down feeling did not last very long. I jumped right in and didn't do anything to prep for the electrolyte demands nor did I have any understanding of fat content. I grind some of my own burgers. I up the fat content to either 60/40 or even 50/50. I made a homemade (you tube) electrolyte mix and now use that to salt my food. Once I made those two corrections the energy not only returned but I felt more energetic than before I started. I will assume it is the fat content but I can tell the difference between red meat and eating pork or chicken. When I eat pork or chicken the following day is not the same. Not really bad, but I can feel the difference., especially after the gym. Best of luck. Hope you can figure out what works for you. Scott

Just started and going extreme
Good luck. Great advice by Geezy a couple posts up. I wish I had come here first, read more, learned more and then eased into the changes. Not me though, feet first/full bore then ask questions later. Scott

How to start
I read that, knew better, but weigh myself almost daily. I'm just not smart, I guess. LOL Scott

How to start
Tons of information out there and I like the breakdown by Miranda. I can be watching the greatest/most informative video and at the point it says "act no, supplies are limited' I sort of start tuning things out. (my shortcoming) I tend to like the testimonial videos the most. We can argue whether honey is allowed or whether butter actually comes from a cow and that is all fine and good. I'm more interested in what worked for you so I can see if that is what works for me. I put my own personal experiences out there as a simple testimonial and by no means is it a guideline. I lean toward if you are happy and healthy eating 'corn flakes and cabbage' by all means keep eating corn flakes and cabbage. Like Geezy said, I too jumped in feet first. But I think it is totally an individual thing. You made a good point about clothes fitting and belt cinching. One of the things that turn people off from any diet is when the weight on the scale does not continually drop. My weight is peeling off if I told you this date and this weight but during that time there were days where I stalled as well as gained. But during the stalls and the gains I had to cinch the belt up a notch or two here and there. So if the clothes are getting loose and the weight is maintaining/stalling, even gaining, good things are happening. I think that gets lost in the message. Especially when the titles to the videos are "I lost 60lbs in 50 days" or some similar crazy numbers. Nice thread. Scott

What is your favorite way to eat/prepare eggs?
Yes.

Mustard?
I don't use it anymore but I do keep it on hand for cramps. Scott

Hi, new Carnivore here...with a question or two.
Per the Carnivore rules (LOL) it should be cut out altogether. I started on May 8th but had 6-8 Mountain Dews and several small cups of ice cream. I didn't waste them. From that point forward I have been all meats-butter-eggs. I have had all positives thus far so I would think going 'not at all' is the right way to go. The flip side is that I think there are so many things that go into a lifestyle change success is found by what works for you. Scott

Just started and going extreme
I'm in that middle ground where I am still losing weight but lifting to add some muscle. If I eat for the extra protein I get the loose stool. On the days I do OMAD my stool is OK (at best). I work a rotating 12-hour shift. This week I roll onto the three nights and I try to do a 48-hour fast over the three nights. I can remember thinking only a psychopath could go 48-hours without eating (on purpose) and now I find it to be rather easy. Good luck in your adjustment. I felt a little drained at first but I didn't read any instructions nor did I ask any questions. As a result the toilet paper supply dwindled quickly. LOL Scott

Just started and going extreme
Welcome. I have been on the diet for just shy of 90 days. I started at 306 and dropped 50pounds since May 8th. I have been one of the ones who have seen nothing but the upsides. Feel really lucky for that. I thought I would struggle with the diet as I ate many, many times per day. Once I got rolling, I found that I was hardly ever hungry. So much so, one meal a day is a breeze, and I have done a couple 48-hour fasts without being hungry at the end. I could have gone longer (and should have just to see). I am guessing after a couple weeks or so three meals a day will be hard to do. I struggle to eat a protein meal after going to the gym in the morning. Basically, I do one meal a day, but I eat three or four eggs after the gym and that pretty much counts as a 'meal'. Best of luck as you get started. This is a pretty good place for real world experience. Scott
- Electrolytes...

help: sticky poop sticks to bowl for both me and my daughter on carnivore diet: ground beef and eggs.
There were two guys in the gym the other day and they were having a fevered debate over honey. One with your argument Bob about 'bees using plants' and the said his pigs used plants to make bacon. It was a pause as that resonated. LOL Scott

Electrolytes...
Heat tolerance is a tough one to describe. I'm in NC where the temperature and the humidity climb together. I have lived all throughout the south, thru Texas for a stretch, in southern California, Washington state and then back to Virginia. Hot is hot, no matter. I can remember growing up priming tobacco as a 12–14-year-old in the beat down heat of August and September. 15-17 the summers were spent with my Pops doing construction work. My hat still goes off to the folks laying shingles when it feels like they melt together faster than you can pull them apart. babbling. I remember going to the service in southern California and it was 108-110 and the orange 'do nothing' flag was flying. It didn't 'feel' all that bad to me. Even at 54 I can work outside all day in that beat down sun and have never really had any issue with the heat. Before May I hydrated with Mountain Dew by the five gallon buckets. At the same time if I walked out and the beach and sat down with as my wife 'laid out' in ten minutes I am about to burn up. Sitting still the sun kills me. It is crazy how that works. I'm not drinking 'electrolytes' per se, now, but I do use the home made electrolyte solution to salt my food to taste. It seems to be working as I have had no real issues since I read the carnivore instructions. I think the electrolytes, the heat, the work (energy expenditures) get really individualistic. The most important thing is the ability to recognize heat related issues in yourself prior to them being an issue and the second most important thing is being able to recognize them in others. The hardest part is us knuckleheads who choose to power thru til the job is done. Scott

What Did You Eat Today?
Great sale on chuck eye steaks this week. Had one for breakfast this morning and will eat another just after lunch. It's Saturday dayshift and when I get home it will be feed time for all the animals. Sometimes when you are simply too busy to eat it helps with the 'calorie deficit' monster. LOL Scott

Hello
Welcome. I started at 306 on May 8th. I lost 30 lbs in about 31-32 days. I am at 49 pounds today. Myself, I never met a sandwich I didn't like. I could eat several times per day. I eat once per day for the most part and eat a fairly big breakfast after working out. I would say eat when you are hungry and then set your eating routine after that. It may stretch your times out a little more than you think. Best of luck. Scott
-
How to start
I think everyone is different. I had bought 12 Mountains Dew's and two small cups of ice cream. I didn't waste those the first week. I also didn't read anything about electrolytes. I didn't know a lot about increasing the fat content. I'm about 83-84 days in and it has done really well for me. Since the first week of the MD's/ice cream and then getting some salt going I have eaten nothing went but meat, eggs and butter. I have started to lean more toward red meats as of late. I have went for stretches on chicken/pork but the stretches of red meats seems to work better for me. I'm probably not the one to answer 'how to get started'. I stumbled out of the gate but since have done fairly well. Scott

7 Months eating Eggs and Meat- Crossroads( Long post)
I believe that to be true. Everything is not for everyone. I would say evaluate where you are and what you are looking for and then go from there. Thus far I have had nothing but good results. Maybe I am one of the lucky ones. I have not tried the 'eat when I am hungry/eat til I am full' approach. I eat once per day most days and on occasion I will eat a hearty breakfast after going to the gym. If I ate when I was hungry it would be like, maybe every 36-48 hours. I did a 48 hour fast and was not the least bit hungry at 48 hours. This comes from a dude pushing 306 pounds and ate pretty much every time I went by the refrigerator. Were you straight carnivore? did you cheat? did you modify? I would say find the one that works for you and go that route. Best of luck. Scott
