who "eats" butter?
Geezy replied to ketomonster's topic in Carnivore, Ketovore, Keto, & Low-Carb Support
There’s some truth to that because butter is fat and fat is what satiates us. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Avoiding carb relapse
Geezy replied to Idunno's topic in Carnivore, Ketovore, Keto, & Low-Carb Support
I can relate to that. The first thing we did when we were off duty was to pop a top. That continued on into civilian life. Having kids and building a farm slowed me down quite a bit but it was carnivore that that changed my drinking most of all. I can’t explain it but I just don’t have a desire to drink anymore even if people around me are drinking. -
Good strategy. My goal was 30 days. I saw so much improvement that I wanted to do another 30 days. After 60 days things were really getting good so another 30 days was in order. After 90 days I had seen such a great transformation that I knew I would do this for life. A man after my own heart. This Texas boy loves smoking my meats or cooking over an open field and being from south Texas mesquite is my favorite wood to use. I used to have a pretty nice garden myself but after a became a carnivore and came to understand that vegetables provide no nutritional benefits that can’t be better derived from meat then I gave it up. When my son introduced me to carnivore and told me how toxic plants were I said but there are some vegetables that I like from my garden. I said I like a good salad or some zucchini that I grew. He said are you sure? Is it the vegetable that you like or what you put on the vegetables to make them palatable. I had to admit. It wasn’t the lettuce I liked. I liked the crunch, the salad dressing full of sugar and seed oils, the cheese, the meats, the croutons and whatever I loaded it down with but I had no desire to just eat the lettuce plain. Same with all of the other vegetables. Well except for tomatoes. I could eat my tomatoes with just some salt and pepper but after being pure carnivore for 6 months I found that I had become sensitive to the inflammatory properties of tomatoes so I don’t eat those either. Being from San Antonio I grew up eating Mexican and Tex-Mex and I do miss it but I’ll never eat it again. I loved it but it’s just about the worst food you can eat as it’s all nothing but carbs. I will admit that I miss it but not enough to bring back my poor health. That wouldn’t be a terrible thing to do. I have been a carnivore now for 649 days and have not cheated but that’s because I know myself and that could easily bring back the carb addiction and I don’t want to go through that again. If you have the discipline to handle it then you should do alright. You may even get to the point of deciding that you no longer want any carbs in your life. Once you kick the addiction the desire leaves you and carbs appear as nothing more than manure to you. And in the end that is exactly what it boils down to. Good Luck and Good Health.

Had supper at my daughter’s house today. Fasted all day in anticipation and it was worth it. Smoked baby back ribs and smoked pork butt. I’m stuffed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- 1,643 replies

Avoiding carb relapse
Geezy replied to Idunno's topic in Carnivore, Ketovore, Keto, & Low-Carb Support
Yeah that’s a bad cycle to be on. You’ve got to get in the right frame of mind if you want to succeed. There’s no tricks or gimmicks to this. You’ve got to want it bad enough. Most people I come across that turn to carnivore are at the end of their rope. They’ve hit rock bottom in their health and are desperate to change. That’s how I came into carnivore. Because of their why they are very motivated to change and succeed in this lifestyle. It sounds like you lack motivation to change. You are addicted to carbs and that’s a tough drug to kick. Try to immerse yourself into the carnivore lifestyle by watching videos from carnivore doctors and influencers to help inspire and motivate you to stay strong. Listen to podcasts that promote the carnivore lifestyle. Read books detailing how to do carnivore and other books related to carnivore that talk about how bad the SAD is and how bad plants are. You’re going to have to strengthen your resolve to succeed. It’s all up to you. Maybe get rid of the pot and the booze if that’s your weak point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Sounds like classic keto flu Bubba. It’s common to experience fatigue as our bodies try to transition from burning glucose to burning fat. I think it may be because our bodies run out of glucose before the fat burning can get fully operational. With you having chronic fatigue syndrome it may even be worse for you but if you can hang in there I think it will get better. You may need to increase your fat intake or look into some electrolyte supplements. The stiff and painful joints could be due to oxalate dumping. The coughing and bringing up junk may very well be a virus. That may also be the reason for the sore joints. While carnivore has some miraculous healing properties it isn’t magic. It won’t stop you from getting sick. Viruses have no respect for carnivore. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

There is some truth to that for most people. I come across a lot of people who eat by the clock. They aren’t hungry but it’s time to eat. I’ve gone through different stages in my journey but I find that OMAD suits me best. I feel my best on OMAD. I only eat when I’m hungry but my hunger is nothing like it used to be when I was eating SAD. Hunger used to be more of craving for food, an addictive impulse. Today, it’s something I can easily ignore. My belly might be empty but it doesn’t feel like hunger to me. When I’m truly hungry I have this feeling of needing to fuel up. I don’t know how to explain it. Whereas eating used to be something that I looked forward to with a passion today is almost a nuisance. Kinda like having to stop at a gas station to fuel up my pickup. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Do you eat the grissel?
Geezy replied to ketomonster's topic in Carnivore, Ketovore, Keto, & Low-Carb Support
I eat it my wife gives it to the dogs. It’s a good source of collagen. My wife takes a collagen supplement and I’ve told her that the gristle has collagen but she doesn’t care. She can’t swallow anything she can’t chew completely. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Since I’ve never done keto I can’t say but my reversal of my heart condition was a gradual think over a years time. At three months I was taken off of a medication regulating my BB. After 9 months my other heart med was cut in half. After a year I was taken off all medication and one of my cardiologists dropped me as a patient and the other cut my visits down to once a year. Something’s take time to heal. Now I’d be curious. Have your palpitations been recorded and documented? Are the palpitations or PVC’s? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Those things can never take into account each individual person’s body composition so they are not necessarily accurate for each person. I just found that one interesting because it was so different than most you come across. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Do you have an accountability partner?
Geezy replied to Heatman's topic in General Health and Wellness Discussion
Everyone needs to know their strengths and weaknesses if they want to have any hope of success. It’s good you have a partner to be accountable to. My philosophy is No one is coming to save me so I can’t rely on anyone but myself. Of course I’m not really all that tough because I do actually rely on God quite a bit. A Glock 27 for my everyday carry and a Ruger LCP for when the Glock is too big. My bride carries a Ruger LC9.

I’m far from a biblical scholar so this is just speculation but I think the sheep were kept for blood sacrifice to God as well as wool and possibly leather. I could also see them milking them.

You are very welcome Joanna. I don’t know if your SIL started out pure carni or not but some people find that easing into carnivore can be easier on the initial transition stage. If it makes him feel better he might want to introduce some non starch vegetables back into his diet and then wean himself off of them after a couple of weeks. Me personally I’d just keep going because he may be on the verge of getting over it. Get some electrolytes in him first though and see if that helps.

Some of us are really fortunate in that regard. It was easy for me but I think that was because of my mindset. When I set my mind to do something I rarely fail. I come across others that really struggle with this WOE both mentally and physically. And you should be sharing. I’ve seen your posts and they are very supportive and knowledgeable. While we can research and quote studies our experiences are what we really draw off of.

Heart palpitations, flutters, or an increase in stroke volume on carnivore are common during the transition period. Like most other side effects, heart palpitations are a result of low electrolytes. All versions of high-fat low-carb diets cause insulin levels to drop, triggering the kidneys to excrete more sodium. Low sodium disrupts levels of magnesium and potassium. Everyone I’ve come across that experiences this sees it go away as they become fat adapted and start using electrolytes. I used carnivore to cure myself of Atrial Fibrillation so if it will fix that then don’t worry about a few palpitations.

Carnivore for type 1 diabetics
Geezy replied to Idunno's topic in Carnivore, Ketovore, Keto, & Low-Carb Support
That’s interesting. I know very little about T1 diabetics. I didn’t know they used glucose tablets. I have a hunting partner that’s a T1 and I’ve never seen him take anything but his insulin shots. I can see what you are talking about would sound problematic. The only thing I’ve heard from T1’s who are carnivore is that they have been able to reduce their insulin shots substantially but other than that not much. -

You can get shredded on any diet that provides you with good nutrition and no junk food. The diet is only a small part of the equation. It’s the work you’re willing to put in that matters.

Calculating protein per day
Geezy replied to Idunno's topic in Carnivore, Ketovore, Keto, & Low-Carb Support
Butter doesn’t make you fat. Fat doesn’t make you fat. Eating carbohydrates makes you fat. You still are not understanding that you don’t have to eat as much fat as protein to achieve 70% fat to 30% protein. Let’s say you eat one pound of hamburger. That hamburger is 70% beef and 30% fat and when it’s though cooking you have the rendered fat left in the pan. You can just pour out that rendered fat over the burger like an gravy and eat it. You will be getting a good fat to protein ratio that you don’t need to add anything to. It’s simple, no calculating m, no measuring no nothing. Just cook and eat. Now if you don’t pour the fat over it then a couple of tablespoons of butter go good with it but you still don’t need to calculate anything. You are really overthinking this way of eating and making it much more difficult than it needs to be. One of the great beauty’s of eating this way is the simplicity of it. You don’t have to count anything. You don’t have to measure anything and comp calculations are necessary.Just eat fat, meat, salt and water. That’s it. It don’t get any simpler than that.
