  1. Yes sir we were indoctrinated and we have passed that training on to our children and them to they’re children and as Miranda stated we are now seeing the difference.
  2. Just some of that smoked pork butt a cooked the other day.
  3. Dang brother…that sounds like a great feast.
  4. That’s a good way to start.
  5. I did experience some tiredness in the early stages but I don’t think it had anything to do with detoxing. I believe that as we start transitioning over to being fat adapted there is a lag between the time we burn up the last of our glucose and the liver producing enough ketones to keep our energy levels up to what we are accustomed to. For some it happens quickly and others not so much. We just have to give it time. Also it’s quite common for people in the beginning to eat like they are on a diet and all mainstream diets say to eat less. Well that’s just wrong. This is not a diet, it’s a lifestyle and in this way of eating we eat more to lose weight. May people find that because they are easily satiated eating carnivore that they begin to eat less and that’s a mistake. You must keep you fat content up because that is where we get our energy from. So evaluate your diet and make sure you are eating the right foods in the right proportion. Be willing to give this more time for your body to adjust. It took years for your body to become metabolically unhealthy and it can take some time to heal. No magic bullets or formulas here, just a lifetime of eating healthy.
  6. Fried liverwurst and scrambled eggs. Good stuff if you like liverwurst.
  7. Got up early this morning so I ate early with a bacon and cheese omelette. Tgen I slow smoked this beauty for 12 hours. Pork butt, it’s what’s for dinner.
  8. That good news. Mine was at a 22 but is now down to 8. I’ve been able to get off of the Bipap machine and go to a dental mouthpiece.
  9. Was out hunting all day so I just fasted.
  10. When I started carnivore I had a nice garden that I had been cultivating ever since I retired back in 2020. I started out just trying carni for 30 days to see what would happen. I saw enough improvement that I wanted to see what another 30 days would do. The improvements were so good after 60 days I just had to do 30 more days. After 90 days I knew that I would eat this way for the rest of my life. I saw no reason after that to keep up my garden. I’m not one to waste energy on something I’m not going to benefit from. Now I was and am a pretty strict carnivore but that’s just what I prefer. It’s simple and suits me well. My advice would be to at least go strict carnivore until you become fat adapted and heal. Then slowly add one vegetable back in at a time and see if it bothers you. If not then you can keep it but if it causes inflammation then it’s out. You may find that vegetables don’t affect you or you may find a particular one or two that aggravate you. Eating meat and whole food vegetables is not a bad way of eating if it doesn’t affect you and you really like veggies. I just wouldn’t eat any starchy ones. It’s more important in my opinion to eliminate all sugars, grains, seed oils and highly processed foods.
  11. Is it any wonder that 75% of the American population is overweight and 50% are obese? This example of a typical school lunch menu shows how we are training up our children.
  12. Love me some Maldon’s. I use both the flakes and the smoked. Finished off the lamb I smoked the other day while making four pounds of liverwurst. the liver came from a steer that my daughter just had processed the other day. Her and her family don’t eat organs so I always get the liver, heart and kidneys.
  13. Welcome Saxguy, musician? We are glad you could join us and we are here to support you any way we can. There is a wealth of knowledge and experience to draw from in this group. Lotta good folks around here. I know for me keto cannot work because it allows carbs to be a part of the diet and being a carb addict that just doesn’t work. Kinda like an alcoholic only drinking beer instead of whiskey. Just makes me want more. That may be why you struggled in the past. I hope you are able to stick with carnivore this time but to succeed you are going to have to want to succeed. Don’t focus on long term goals but just focus on getting through today and treat every day like that. Before you know it you’ll have 90 days behind you and discover you’ve kicked the addiction. You can do this brother, just remember, There is no food on earth that tastes as good as feeling healthy.
  14. They are still a little young to put in the freezer just yet but I’m looking forward that day when I can.
  15. I’m afraid not. I came here after it became Carnivore Talk. So are you keto, carnivore and if so how are you getting along?
  16. I believe that can happen. It’s an extreme shock to the system to go through surgery. Anesthesia can have a profound affect as well that can last for weeks or even months depending on your age.
  17. Because you are now fat adapted that fat is your fuel hence the rush would be my guess.
  18. Interesting video. I find it interesting that his first charts looked like his lower numbers were falling within the recommended fasting window but his final chart it seemed that they were outside that window. I can’t see the charts very well on my phone but they were still very close to the recommended fasting window. It’s still very interesting though and definitely needs further study. I’d love to see more people trying this to see if they can correlate his findings. In fact it would be great if you could try this and report back your findings. Of course we have to remember that he was an N of 1 and just because this worked in his body doesn’t mean it works the same for everyone. The thing about fasting blood test is that they are not just centered around test cholesterol. There are other things being tested as well that a longer fast may affect negatively as was in my case. I should have clarified when I said that fasting took long and I believe it was over 24 hours, messed up my numbers it wasn’t my cholesterol, those numbers are great, but it was my A1b and glucose numbers that were off. If his test can prove significant among a greater population then it would definitely be a good idea to make a blood test for cholesterol totally separate from any other with a different fasting window. 19. I am nearly in the same boat as you. I haven’t been one of the carnivores that get a great nights sleep. I only get 4-5 hours sleep a night. I will wake up multiple times throughout the night. If I go to bed at 10 I will wake up by 2. If I go to bed around 11 or 12 I’ll wake up around 3 or 4. I’ll go back to sleep if I can but sometimes it’s just impossible. It’s pretty much guaranteed I’m going to get up a 5 am. I like getting up at 5 because it gives me about 2 hours alone time before anyone gets up to do my devotionals, Bible study and reading. I’m retired but it doesn’t seem to matter how hard I work that day or how little it’s always the same. I’ve spend pretty much all my life getting up between 3 and 5 in the morning so I just figured it’s a habit for me. I also start getting tired around 9 pm myself but I don’t dare go to bed too early. I’m I eat pretty strict carnivore and while I used to take a magnesium complex I haven’t taken any in over a month now. There’s been no change either way. I emphasize with you but I have no idea how to change it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Fasting prior to a blood test should only be 8-12 hours. I’ve made the mistake of fasting for 24 hours and it screwed up my results. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Welcome Merlin. I personally have no experience with kidney disease but Bob the owner of this forum does. He has stage 4 kidney disease and is doing well as a carnivore. I’m sure he will be along shortly to answer any questions you have. I have never heard anyone express the fat to protein ratio by volume versus weight. It is generally a weight to weight ratio. There are no set rules to how we do carnivore because it’s subjective to the individual. We are all different so we have to adjust the diet to what our bodies require. We generally start of with a baseline or foundation as I like to call it of a 70% fat to 30% protein ratio. Some do better with less fat while others do well with more fat. Equal amounts of protein and fat by weight are 31% protein and 69% fat by caloric content. (Protein contains roughly 4 (k)cal/g, whereas fats average around 9 (k)cal/g.) The general consensus is, If your goal is weight loss, aim for 1g of protein per pound of your goal body weight and then add high quality animal fat to this until satiety. This will usually end up being about 1:1 fat to protein ratio in terms of gram. This ratio translates to about 70% of calories from fat and 30% of calories from protein You may find that some recommend 1.5 grams of protein while others recommend 2 grams but 1 gram is a good place to start. I personally have never measured any of my food. If you eat fatty meat, cook it in fat and if it’s lean use the fat drippings as a gravy or dip it in butter you should meet the ratio requirements. If you are the analytical type then you might enjoy measuring your food.
