1ino got a reaction from Geezy in Snack for the roadEver since I have gone carnivore I wander what pesticides remain in fruits and vegetables that I is to eat, meat can’t be worse even chemical dipped.
Only fruits and vegetables I trust are the ones I pick and know they don’t add anything

1ino got a reaction from Bob in CHECK YOUR BUTTER.....Actually was a supervisor and we reworked the butter, dumping into heated tank, recirculating the hot melted butter to melt added butter, pumper about 1 foot off the bottom because the bottom contained paper and water that would go to waste.
Its pretty easy to rework and, in todays world if it could not be reworked it would be hazardous waste that they do not want dumped into the ground.
So all the pallets of butter should go back to facility, too much money to not rework it.

1ino reacted to Nemo in How much is too much saltat least personally i simply listen to how much salt i 'crave'. i realize that some days i'd like less, some days i use more, and i believe is just a healthy way my body is letting me know how much i should use. That's my approach but that doesn't mean it is a smart approach.
On a side note i realize that by using sea salt (unrefined) or hymalayan pink salt i end up using and craving much more in comparison with table salt.

1ino reacted to Scott F. in How much is too much saltI probably use the same as you. I don't that amount is of risk or detrimental. I always try to add it is an individual things especially if you have known or underlying medical issues. Like Geezy said, especially the kidneys.
I salt most everything to taste and on occasion I will add some to the water I am drinking.
My sodium levels were right down the middle on the last testing.
I guess I am good?

1ino reacted to Geezy in How much is too much saltYour salt intake is not high at all. I consume much more than that on a daily basis and according to my blood test my sodium levels stay in the lower range. But of course you aren’t me so your mileage may vary.
As Orweller stated, your body will regulate how much sodium it can use and excrete the rest.
A good rule of thumb is to listen to your body. If you are craving salt, if salt tastes really good to you then your body is telling you that it’s needs sodium. If you are finding that it’s just not tasting good then you need to stop using salt until it tastes good again.
Now if you have a kidney disease then high amounts of sodium can be an issue.
Be aware that not all salt is the same. Be diligent about reading labels, yes, even salt. Some salts such as common table salt may have sugars or other ingredients in them that you don’t need in your diet.

1ino reacted to Orweller in How much is too much saltI don't think so. You have much less to worry about salt being no carb.
The daily recommendation seems to be 2300 mg according to mayo clinic, but take that with a grain of salt.
Especially when beginning carnivore, do not be afraid of salt. In the beginning stages especially, your kidneys release excessive sodium due to ketosis. Salt to taste and you'll be fine. And start considering an iodine supplement if you do not have sea food on the regular. It's time to do away with the salt myths. Too little salt is just as, if not more harmful for you, this includes increasing possibility of cardiovascular disease.

I drink 2 pots a day, heavy whipping cream and salt added, besides water I don't know what else to drink, I do not feel like drinking water all day, I got sick of water and now have a hard time drying to drink straight water.
I do notice that I'm no longer getting cramps sense I started adding salt to my coffee.

1ino got a reaction from Geezy in Carnivore newbieMy actual doctor, this is not the first time, I wait probably over a month for my appointment then it gets cancelled because he is out for some reason, so I ended up getting the appointment with Dr. Amin who is a new doctor doesn't have many patients.
Last time I saw my doctor I was eating carbs my main diet, I was really dragging after a meal, I did not want to work or do anything after eating, his response was to increase a medication I take for depression, he wasn't too concerned about finding out the real reason I was feeling that way.
Thanks for the info, I need some improvement on the foods I eat, but overall I'm not doing to bad, I am not going back to doctor for some time, I don't really have a reason to
My mom is on a statin, and suffering from dementia, I rather die then have my doctor put me to take them pills

1ino got a reaction from Geezy in Carnivore newbieThank you, I have no plans to go back to doctor anytime soon

1ino reacted to Geezy in Carnivore newbieNope, your numbers look good to me. Very similar to my own.
Since you’ve been carnivore for awhile you may already be aware of this but your doctor is ignorant about saturated fat, cholesterol and cardio vascular diseases. Unfortunately most of them are including mine.
Our bodies can only derive its energy from two sources, glycogen or fat. When we eat a zero carb diet we no long have any glucose for our buddies to utilize so it has to switch to fat for energy and since that is now our primary energy source it only makes sense that there would be more of it running around our blood steams. Better that it’s being used and not stored.
What’s really ridiculous is that they don’t seem to understand that cholesterol isn’t even fat, it’s a transporter of fat.
Without cholesterol we would die as every cell in our bodies needs it for survival. There has never been any evidence that having high cholesterol causes cardiovascular disease but there is evidence to show that people with higher cholesterol numbers tend to out live those with lower cholesterol.
if you want a true marker of cardiovascular heath and risk of disease is to look at your triglyceride to HDL ratios. You divide your triglycerides by your HDL. You are looking for a number of less than 2 with 1.5 being ideal.
Your ratio is 1.13 which is excellent.
Our doctors are not totally at fault for being so ignorant about all of this. For the most part they really get no education in nutrition while in school. They don’t keep up with new findings in medical/nutritional research. Finally, they are controlled by big insurance and big pharma. They have what’s called a Standard of Care protocol that they must follow. As long as they follow the SOC protocol they are protected from lawsuits. Then big pharma pushes the statins because it’s a trillion dollar a year industry. As with everything just follow the money.
