If you ever get gout, which I hope you won´t,you will stop laughing at that. It completely invalidizes you, being not able to walk or even stand up. Or sleep for that matter.

What Did You Eat Today?
Carburetor replied to Geezy's topic in Carnivore, Meat-based Keto, & Ketovore Support
Today was time to eat dinner, I had a 48 hour mini-fast. Water only. I got 1000 kcal exercise today too, felt great all day. Hopefully this meal compensates for most of it. I did not calculate yet. Not enough fat, too many carbs, I know. I even forgot to add butter... I just did not want bacon now.- 1,564 replies

I have some type of atopic rash that makes my face fatty and dry at the same time. It can be seen somewhere else, too. I use cortisone lotion for it. But whenever I´m cutting carbs low,the rash disappears. Gone. I have been watching this for 20 years now,it is a sugar thing. it was worst in my beer drinking days.

Yep,I think melted butter is one of the best sauces for meat. And veg if you like. I add garlic, oregano, black pepper etc when I'm melting it. Let boil just a tad. And this "sauce" can be tuned with blue cheese,Parmesan,anything.- 1,564 replies

Another perfect roast. Butter and olive oil as sauces help keep fat balance.

Not in this case. She was not allowed to take anything from tables. She never did, even alone at home with a ham on the table. Training went spot on. No stranger in his right mind could come and take that steak though. -
Looks good! Our moose hunt is dependent on the dogs. We have an area where we think moose are, based on observation and tracking all year round. Moose have their standard routes, too. So we let a dog in the area, area is already surrounded by hunters standing quietly in their posts. The dog finds a moose and starts barking at it from a reasonable distance, hopefully, to not scare the moose right away... After a while, A Dog guide can try to sneak closer while the moose is "hypnotized" by the dog. Sometimes guide manages to shoot the moose, more often the moose bolts away and one of the surrounding hunters can try to shoot it. I had two Grey Norwegian moose dogs. The first one was too hot, moose did not stay. The second one was too shy... I did much better with german shepherds, obedience is the key with them. They tracked me many a deer in the dark, too. We are allowed to hunt very late in the dark, finding the dead deer can be tough. --------------- To Nemo, I did not understand why minced meat by itself would be bad either. But the vet who told me about it was from Eastern Europe with horrible minced meat experiences there, she said "there can be anything" and that means chemicals, too. Who knows. Maybe the bad practises, whatever they are,are universal now? Anyways, my dog reacted very very strongly, that´s all I know. I was given a very expensive, imported good breed competition grade, basics trained german shepherd for free! All because of wrong nutrition. >Minced meat continued to be wrong.... I do not know why,all I know is what happened. Reindeer is tasty but extremely lean.

This sounds like my kind of drink. I was in our hunting club´s moose group for 15 years. Most of that time as a dog guide. We dog guides had a priority for bones, dogs are so important in our way of hunting. I always got plenty... but I made broth out of most of them. Sorry dogs! Cut and grilled them bones a bit first, then cook in pressure cooker for a loooong time... to get sticky extract that I put in ice cube bags and froze for practical use later on. Dogs got some moose bones -and heads -but perfectly good bones for dogs can be bought. I wanted moose broth. Just remembered,we have a meeting tomorrow. I might be back in moose business if ketovore keeps healing me the way it is doing now. It´s a group hunt, pretty physical in cold weather and I don´t want to be the squeaky wheel.

Exactly the same situation here. Felt very empty in the beginning. And then a CAT , of all the possible animals, just moved in a couple of years ago. I never knew a cat could be this nice company. I have taught him "dog things" like to come when I whistle. -
Cast Iron Pan VS Stainless Steel Pan
Carburetor replied to Bob's topic in Everyday Chit Chat & Off-topic Discussion
Sous Vide temps are so low, a grocery bag gets warmer on a sunny day. I´m not saying it´s impossible but... such a huge percentage of food is being sold packaged in plastic, someone must have done some measures. Especially now that micro plastics are being discussed everywhere.- 32 replies

Quitting all minced completely healed that dog. Pork was possibly a little worse but beef was bad, too.

This may not be the right thread but it came to my mind: I once adopted a two year old german shepherd that did not become a good competition dog because of allergies. Everything was difficult. The owner family had three "better" shepherds. She was my third GS and sixth own dog. First thing I did , we went strict BARF. No industrial dog food of any kind. Huge success, skin and rash eased up remarkably. I then dropped pork and things got even better. But still cortisone... Then a vet from Eastern Europe heard that I´m giving minced meat. She said "dogs often react to minced meats , there can be anything mixed in". None of my earlier dogs had had probs but I decided to try. So no more mince, full meats instead and VOILA`, no more yeast, rash, anything at all! That dog became completely allergy free and we had many wonderful years together. Super obedient and we had this mind connection that only dog owners know about. I swear she read my thoughts and wanted to obey and act right. Oh man I´m getting emotional, typing this. Anyway,my point is: That experience taught me that all meats are not even close to equal when you´re sensitive enough. I could not take a dog after that one, I decided to stop while on top. She was perfect.

Real men don´t need gallbladders ! I have not missed mine the slightest. I will never forget the most entertaining GB attack, I was at a remote shooting range, alone. It was our Independence Day, Dec 6th 2022 and -30 Celsius weather. Lots of snow. I was looking at some wood grouses in trees at shooting distance, wondering how they can know about the pain I´m having, unable to do almost anything but sit. They knew they were safe even at a shooting range. Big beautiful birds. I managed to drive myself to doc somehow. Our health care place was still open even in holidays and weekends, not so any more.

This simple improvisation turned out real good. I had some minced beef, 17% fat. I remembered we have dried Funnel Chanterelles. So I took some chicken/beef broth, put chanterelles to boil in broth while I fried the beef with one little onion in bacon grease. Added the fried things to boil for another 15 min, done. A tiny amount of fresh garlic just before serving made this very very tasty. Like "caveman meets french kitchen" -tasty.

Cast Iron Pan VS Stainless Steel Pan
Carburetor replied to Bob's topic in Everyday Chit Chat & Off-topic Discussion
This is my first pan. I bought this with my pocket money when I was ten years old in 1973. My grandmother used to fry eggs like this and I liked them so much, I had to get the same pan for me at home. Pan was wrapped in brown greasy paper in the store,I still remember the moment when I saw it.- 32 replies

I used to have a Finnish Hound and oh boy, he was an eating machine. He finished a whole moose head in a week, including antlers. -

If you feel ok with it, fat-coffee in the morning and another in the afternoon can help a lot. Yes it disturbs OMAD and fast a little but you can get butter/coconut oil added nicely. My add-ons are about 10 g each / cup. Today I had cream, too. I have done this lately again while doing OMAD and my blood ketones were whopping 4,1 yesterday afternoon. Glucose was 4.9 mmol/L (90 mg/dL).

Carnivore diet seems crazy, but…
Carburetor replied to tracker1's topic in General Health and Wellness Discussion
A friend commented my Facebook dinner pic the other day: "Any ketosis yet?" He had figured it out. I do not advertise diets or talk medical there but I do post food pics. He is a smart guy, a little older than me and I know he has health probs too. So I told him how I´m soon off BP meds altogether, instead of four pills. I also posted graphs of my before/after BP. The wild fluctuations and extreme high peaks completely stopped. His reply: "Oh I´m doing fine with two different BP pills in the morning and two in the evening." What he is effectively saying is, he prefers pills to a healthy diet so he can keep on eating his macaroni and mashed potatoes. I have seen pics. I have nothing more to say.
