The sugar is putting you into a dopamine roller coaster ride. It raises your blood sugar and when it drops off it wants another “hit” so it turns on the hunger hormone Ghrelin.
Eating fat is satiating because it suppresses that hormone.
When I first started eating carnivore I couldn’t eat as much as I do now. I only eat when I’m hungry and like you, a pound of meat was about all I could stuff in but when I lost nearly all my fat is when my appetite increased. The reason is when we are fat adapted we only use fat for fuel but when we use up all of our body fat the body starts crying for more fuel than what your body can provide so it turns on the appetite.
I try to eat 1.5 - 2 pounds a day but there are some days I still only want about a pound.
There are five stages of carnivore
    The decision
    Adaptation
    Healing
    Ravenous
    Maintenance

Yep. Carnivore has surprised me in a lot of ways.
I hardly eat in comparison to others and then with a handful of sugar and carbs it is like I found an appetite.
Now, I may have a clearer picture of how I came out of the military around 190-200 and found myself north of 320 years later.
I'm not much on calories in and calories out but as of late I can see where ounces in and ounces out can be a thing. LOL
Another pleasant surprise form carnivore. LOL

    I appreciate the information.

I do drink Zevia periodically, but that's the only stevia I consume. I only use monk fruit and allulose and actively avoid erythritol when I can. I've never had any issues with any of the NNS (natural or otherwise).

I also did make the LMNT DIY recipe and not a huge fan either. I've been on carnivore for over 6 months now, and I've been able to back off a lot on the electrolytes. I now only have about 1.5 servings per day and use magnesium lotion on my legs at night. Seems to be working well. I hope to be able to back off more eventually.

I ride a 2015 Can-Am Spyder F3-S (white). I've owned 5 Spyders since 2008 (first year). I love them! Lost my original 2008 last year to fire (blue). The red one is my husband's. I did learn to ride on two-wheelers and had a couple of cruisers and a Ninja 250.

Finally the winter is gone! Second day out.
I need and love my two wheel therapy & exercise.
Bike has lost 10 kg (new Ti/carbon exhaust), rider had lost 20+ kg.... suspension feels better.

I wish I could say yes. I call myself a drink whore. That means I want to have a beverage most of the day. Morning starts as coffee, then sparkling water and electrolytes during the day, and the occasional Zevia soda or Vitamin Water Zero (both stevia/monk fruit sweetened). None of these drinks bother me, so I've kept them in.

I don't deal with any sugar cravings either, but it's easy for me since I have up sugar many many years ago and know it will kill me (almost quite lierally). I don't drink alcohol, but don't rule out never having any every again.

This way of life feels like a fountain of youth! I sometimes have more energy than I know what to do with.
My strength in powerlifting has dropped off a bit, but I attributed that to less frequency of training and possibly a small amount of muscle loss.

Medium rare leaning towards rare usually. Depends on the cut, though.

Over-medium crispy whites and runny yolks. Cooked in tallow or bacon fat.

It's tricky for sure! I get the pan nice and hot and spread the whites thin. That usually works.

Katlyn Gommerman got a reaction from Bob in Cost of Carnivore? Who's done the math?
I did the math, and for just me eating carnivore, I spend about $10 to $12 per day eating twice a day plus the cost of my coffee.

I don't know how that really compares to what I was spending before, but my weekly grocery bill definitely has gone down. I was spending $250 per week for 2 adults. My husband eats low carb, but not quite keto or carnivore.
