The power of Big Medicine and Big Media
Orweller replied to Erik's topic in Carnivore, Meat-based Keto, & Ketovore Support
We are also conditioned to not take accountability for our diet choices. We've been thought it just is. That we get old and fat and sick, with pain. It's part of getting old. Isn't it? No, we become old because of our life choices, and our most important one is obviously, diet. I was at an event, and I met a lot of people I've know since I was young. I looked in the room, and 80% of them were overweight. They were my age, and they looked older, softer than me. And I am not putting myself above those people, don't get me wrong, but you see people your age looking 10 years older than you, people that have followed the program to a T, and the result you see right there. The American diet is meant to slowly strangle you, make no mistake about it. Meanwhile, the parasitic food, health, and medicine industries are all getting that slice of the pie, just another tax you pay, but the cost is with your health. Can you imagine all the other conditioning we face each day, socioeconomic, cultural, geopolitics, our views and mindsets are under siege, each and every day. Things are not what they seem. That's what the -waking up- is all about. Look inward, be accountable, be aware, and be critical of yourself most importantly, because that is what slowly taken away from you. Take that power back.- 10 replies

Welcome, and good luck in your journey.

I do lift and I've never did pre workout, carb loading, or anything. A cup of coffee and then I go bang weights. I've lost a little strength overall, but I lost weight as well. It feels better though, less hurt, good recovery. I lift for function though, lifting itself is for performance, not a performance of itself.

Orweller replied to Bax's topic in Carnivore, Meat-based Keto, & Ketovore Support
Use butter, cheese, and eggs to get the fat also. -
What if It's All Been a Big Fat Lie?
Orweller replied to Bob's topic in Diet News, Medical Research, & Health Reports
We've been conditioned to consume, and carbs are the most profitable. For many reasons. Everyone profits, the dentists, the doctors, the sugar magnates. All get a slice of that pie. We've been conditioned to consume, and our diet is just part of it. It's nothing personal, it's business. Your life, and health is of no concern. -
Hard stools, please help
Orweller replied to Matan1262's topic in Carnivore, Meat-based Keto, & Ketovore Support
How about replacing some of that beef with bacon? Also, I would consider at least a fiber supplement. This diet doesn't have to be perfect. -
Weight isn't everything, body composition will change for the better as well, as @butterflymentioned. Track your food on an app so you can collect data on what helps and what doesn't. Weightloss is mostly diet, but exercise will help, mainly with weight lifting. Muscle mass is directly connected with metabolic health.

Shortness of breath

The first thing you may want to do is check your blood pressure, it may be something that requires a doctor. Check whether you get all your electrolytes and minerals, could be a deficiency. -
I use Myfitnesspal myself. Whether that is the best or not, I do not know.

Welcome. Veteran here as well.

1. Fiber - Not needed, however, it won't hurt you to get small amounts in case, I do it myself, about 5 to 8 grams a day. 2. Probiotics/Prebiotics - I take probiotics. 3. Butyrate/Butyric acid - Not worried about this one at all. 4. BHB Ketones supplement - Not for me. Go gently into keto by going low carb first. 5. Methylsulfonylmethane - Again, a no from me. 6. Glucosamine - Also not taking this. 7. Collagen - Bone broth will suffice, skin off chicken, bone in pork chops, etc will get you plenty. 8. Glycine - I am not worried about this one. 9. Q10 - Also not concerned about this one. 10. Minerals - I may here and there supplement on minerals. 11. Omega 3s - I do supplement on this with fish oil. I consider this supplement one of the big ones. 12. Vitamin A - Nope. 13. Vitamin B (group) - Nope. 14. Vitamin C - I take a supplement about 3 times a week. Can't hurt. 15. Vitamin D (+ K) - I supplement both, D every day, vitamin K 3 times a week. 16. Vitamin E - Not concerned about vitamin E 17. https://health.selfdecode.com/blog/carnivore-diet/ What you think about this? 18. Geranylgeraniol - Don't know either. I concentrate on sodium, potassium and magnesium, everyday. The three big ones for me. I also supp with calcium. But that's pretty much it. I adjust as I go. Hope this helps somewhat.

Thoughts Coconut & C8 MCT Oil ?
Orweller replied to Lava99's topic in Carnivore, Meat-based Keto, & Ketovore Support
Pure carnivore is of course, ideal. But we strive for perfection, then we increase our chances to fail. We are on a diet, after all. We already said goodbye to refined sugars, processed foods, junk food, seed oils, etc. So if a coconut, an avocado, or some berries help maintain this carnivore journey, then so be it. We've then already avoided many toxins, carbs, and oxalates. Not everyone tolerates red meat, for example, some do worse on pork. It's a question of fine tuning this great diet as best as we can to our own benefit and needs. -
Welcome! My respect for your accomplishments.

Track your food on an app. Track your weight on an app. Even for a little while it will teach you a lot about what you eat and what it does to you. Other than that, for weight loss? portion control, see how well you do on less calories. I normally eat 2200 calories, on carnivore I do well on 1600 calories. Something I learned through using an app. I've added calories/carbs a bit to stall my wieght loss as it is not needed, 12% BF here.

It sounds concerning, yes. Diabetes complicates the matter greatly. I'd say give it at least 90 days, that is 90 days without sugar, processed foods, no seed oils. What I'd do in this case, I'd add a fiber supplement. Again, no doctor here. Nor a diabetes patient. Nor a doctor with diabetes. Just thinking with you here. The question is also, are you overweight? that would be a factor as well. 90 days give you more data. I use an app to track food, macros, etc and weight in every morning. It has helped me adapting when needed. Good luck to you.

Magnesium, potassium, and salt. If you're worried about micronutrients, have some vitamin K and Calcium sporadically. Vitamin C every so often as you need less. A pro-biotic could be a good choice as well.

Not enough fat from meat
Orweller replied to Lava99's topic in Carnivore, Meat-based Keto, & Ketovore Support
Cook your steak, add a tablespoon of butter and let it melt on top. Add butter in coffee or tea. Pork and chicken may be too lean. Bacon and eggs and some cheese, they give you lots of fat as well. -
Thoughts Coconut & C8 MCT Oil ?
Orweller replied to Lava99's topic in Carnivore, Meat-based Keto, & Ketovore Support
MCT and Coconut oil are great to use, you get access to important acids, they are anti-inflammatory, use them both. However, if you are nauseous from getting fat in on this diet, MCT may be the trigger. If you have a loose stool, you may want to step back from it for a while. Otherwise, good stuff, and use it in combination of other fats. -

Why Keto & Carnivore?
