MimiDez got a reaction from Miranda in 5 Months in and feeling great!I started Carnivore at the end of April. when my pre diabetes crossed over into full blown diabetes. Doctor wanted to put me on Metformin. It was a huge wake-up call. I had already been watching Dr. Berry, Dr. Chaffee, and asked her to give me a few months to turn it around. I’ve seen the results of diabetes, and want none of that.
I’ve done Keto before, which was fine until I started adding the keto treats. Now I know they were just keeping me hooked on that sweet taste, and wanting more. After a couple of weeks eating only animal products, my cravings for sweets were gone - completely. It’s like a miracle. There are snacks in the house for the grandkids, and they don’t call to me AT ALL!
My A1c has gone from diabetic to normal, blood pressure from high to normal, I took myself off of the statin, joint pain gone, and I am walking regularly, sometimes twice a day because I actually have energy now! My gerd has improved, but isn’t completely gone yet, but that’s because I still have coffee. I feel like I’ll be able to give that up very soon.
This way of eating is just amazing to me. I’m never hungry. I enjoy every meal, but never feel bloated or over full afterwards. I no longer need to carry food around in case of an energy crash, because my energy is stable all day. I feel like a different person! I’m 61, and the future looks very bright now!

MimiDez got a reaction from Bob in 5 Months in and feeling great!Scott F., thank you so much. The weight loss is great, but the health benefits are what keeps me motivated. The walking has turned out to be so enjoyable. There are lots of hills in our neighborhood, so I feel like I have a built-in gym! I keep setting goals around distance and conquering certain hills that are very challenging. It’s so satisfying to reach each goal, and then surpass it!

MimiDez reacted to Scott F. in 5 Months in and feeling great! No doubts. I started the same. My roads are both hilly and curvy as well. I have since added air squats and pushups. I set my phone to five minutes and do 10-15 squats and 15-20 pushups every 5 minutes along the hour walk. The next day I wear a 40lb weighted vest. Then alternate.
It has been a process. LOL

MimiDez reacted to Bob in What Did You Eat Today?I used to not care for blue cheese. But now I enjoy it as a garnish. Blue cheese burgers are quite tasty.
Dr. Berry has a good common sense perspective on nitrates and nitrites. You make more in your saliva naturally than what you might find in some bacon or a hot dog. People get most of their nitrates and nitrites from plants, which we of course eschew.

MimiDez reacted to ol_hilly in What Did You Eat Today?I love blue cheese! Haven't noticed any side effects. I order a five pound bag through work and divide up with my egg producers. Keeps me in eggs on the cheap.

MimiDez reacted to Scott F. in 5 Months in and feeling great!Congrats.
I think walking is still far under-rated for overall health and effectiveness. Maybe not under-rated but more it does not look like it would be near as effective and beneficial as it turns out. I try to walk for time and distance most every day.
Congrats on turning some medical stuff around and ditching some medicine. Being able to ditch medicine has been my highlight since starting some 17 months ago. People see the weight loss and we normally talk about the weight loss first but over time the health improvements from eating this way outshines the weight loss (at least for me anyway).
Again, congrats. Job well done. Keep it going.

MimiDez reacted to jay3253 in One month todayThank you everyone I did have a weekend right after my post where I went on a sugar binge and got very very sick. I am now back on the wagon and have lost another 5 lbs. If I had not gone on the binder I would be down another 3. I am still working on my goal to be below 300 by September first of 2026. I asked my wife today to bring me ice cream (kind of a test) she came home with things for her and said you have to keep to your goal. I was very happy with her. She is being very supportive!

MimiDez reacted to Bob in One month todayAwesome! 30 pounds in 30 days alone should be very inspiring and motivational! Now that you have 30 days under your [now looser] belt, you know you can also reach 60 or even better, 90 days, which is what we recommend everyone shoot for.
Have you had any NSV's (non-scale victories), such as mental clarity or remission of any chronic symptoms? Or were you generally healthy and just in it for the weight loss?

MimiDez reacted to Copper in One month todayHi Jason.
Welcome. Like you I am interested in learning and I do this with my own research, people sharing their experience and my own experience. I started transitioning around the beginning of last February and had pretty much become carnivore by March. So it is over 6 months for me now. The health benefits and weight loss have been very rewarding. All the best to you in your journey too!

MimiDez reacted to Bob in What Did You Eat Today?Feeling better each day. This was breakfast. A half pound of beef, seasoned and salted, with 3 eggs and some cheddar cheese 🙂

MimiDez reacted to Bob in What Did You Eat Today? This was yesterday's breakfast. A 4-egg omelet stuffed with Jimmy Dean pork sausage and cheddar cheese inside, and then sprinkled with parmesan cheese on the outside. It was delicious and ended up being my only real meal yesterday (around 2pm). I snacked on pork rinds later on.

MimiDez reacted to Bob in What Did You Eat Today?Pickles are pretty harmless. I've actually heard good things about fermented and pickled foods. Once a month we go out to support my cousin's Open Mic Night. I will order a carnivore meal (burger patties with pepper jack cheese) and the the girls will get wraps. The wraps come with a pickle spear on the side which they will offer to me. Pickles are kinda like lettuce - you're basically eating water.
