Carnivore is great, blah, blah, blah. Carnivore is good, blah, blah, blah.
It has worked wonders for me and to the point I can't really see eating another way.
Several months ago I started eating to hit a protein target and to that I had to eat more than I wanted. As the protein went up, so did the fat. I also stumbled upon the fact that a little bit of sugar triggers some hunger which helped me get to the protein target most days. With that I gained a h air over 20lbs in a couple three months.
When I switched back to a more normal/traditional carnivore approach the weight started to fall off again. I went from 215 to 238 and now back to 225, dropping 13 pounds in a month or so.
It's a pretty good plan. LOL
If I say another thing about somewhat repaid weight loss here my wife is going to administer some inflammation that not even carnivore can clear up. LOL

Like most things it is the response that counts.
Good luck.

TitusTwoWife reacted to Scott F. in Patience is keyNice work.
I had sort of morphed into eating once per day so going 24 hours sort of felt natural.
The first 24hours is the obstacle, stretching it out to 48 and beyond actually gets a bit easier.
I get an energy boost around 40 hours or so and sustain it out to 4+ days.
And if you had told me the same thing a couple years ago I would have looked at you like you were crazy, maybe even calling BS.
Great work. Good luck as you progress.

TitusTwoWife reacted to Scott F. in Patience is keyPretty much the same here. I try not say 'never; on anything but I do feel really confident it will be carnivore for me fo as far into the future as I can see.

TitusTwoWife reacted to Scott F. in Patience is keyI weigh most every day although I know I should not, but I keep doing.
When I was losing weight really fast if the scale tipped the other way it was disheartening. It was funny because due to body re-composition I could lose a pant size but gain a pound or so. My brain went to the pound gained vs. the size lost, which is polar opposite of I should have been thinking.
I sort of purposefully gained some weight back and this past week I went back to more of a carnivore approach of 'eating when hungry and eating til full'. I am starting to lose weight again now.
This morning from the front door to the shower I said no need to weigh today, just take a shower and crash after nightshift. I walked into the bathroom and stepped onto the scale probably out of habit as much as anything.

TitusTwoWife reacted to Geezy in does everyone fast?It is natural to many of us carnivores. We just don’t look at food the same anymore and quite often we just don’t experience hunger like we used to.
-
TitusTwoWife reacted to Geezy in Weight loss. They are generally the result of your body still adapting, adjusting or something in the diet that needs to be changed such as dairy. Dairy stalls most of us if we start eating it.
-
TitusTwoWife reacted to Geezy in What Did You Eat Today?Fatback and chicken livers…you must be southern.
-
TitusTwoWife reacted to Geezy in Patience is keyYou sound like you are truly becoming a carnivore and are on the right track.
I lost 50 pounds in a little less than a year but being a male it can be easier for us. Patience is the key to success and you are correct to not weigh every day. Just weigh once a week. Mondays are a good day to weigh as you start your week or Friday as you gI into the weekend to stay motivated. The best things you can do is to keep a daily journal detailing every step of your journey. Then once a month get out a cloth tape measure and measure every part of your body. Neck, shoulders, chest, belly, waist, hips, thighs, calves, biceps and forearms. Write this down in your journal and compare it month to month. Inches lost mean more than pounds lost.
Good luck on your journey and try to look at this as a lifestyle and not a diet. Diets come and go but a lifestyle belongs to you forever.

TitusTwoWife got a reaction from Geezy in What Did You Eat Today? My appetite was very low so no breakfast. For lunch I'm eating a burger patty, chicken livers, and some fatback. Yum!

TitusTwoWife got a reaction from Geezy in does everyone fast?I'd like to do 24 hours. There's something about carnivore that makes fasting feel natural.
-
TitusTwoWife got a reaction from Geezy in Patience is keyIt is the oddest thing now but I am indifferent to food most hours of the day at this point.

TitusTwoWife got a reaction from Geezy in Patience is keyI'm 5'8, 31, and have been trying to lose weight for over four years. Within those four years there have been two pregnancies. My husband lost over 70 lbs on carnivore. I lost 30 but didn't experience full ketosis due to the psyche meds I was on at the time. Now that the dose is lower, I finally have experienced ketosis and feel amazing.
I have had to be very patient. My goal weight is 150 and Im currently at 200lbs. So far this time starting May 1st, my weight is fluctuating a lot as I increase exercise and my appetite is going down. Im trying to no longer weigh every day but I allow two weigh ins a week now.
This thread is just to encourage myself and maybe others that all good things take time and for me its taking a long time but thats okay.
I consider my diet high fat carnivore. The more fat, the better I feel.
Ill also use this thread to record my progress.

TitusTwoWife reacted to Scott F. in Patience is keyCongrats on your progress.
I did the same thing. This can be like an 'interactive journal'. I actually enjoy reading other people's experiences. I have learned a ton when other people describe their carnivore journey.
I feel better when my fat content is higher also. Sometimes it feels like/looks like a lot of fat but it works for me.
Good luck.

TitusTwoWife reacted to Scott F. in does everyone fast? For me, it was not as difficult as it sounds.
I am currently on a fast. I ate this past Monday night and plan to break it tomorrow morning.
Again, for me, around 24-36 hours there is some hunger but easily solved with a glass of water. From 24-36 hours on I do not experience any hunger at all.
Like most anything, it is probably easier and maybe even better to ease into the fast. Do 24-36 hours, then wait a while and maybe try 48 hours. Then later add 12 more, then 12 more and so on.
I don't know if I'm different, or maybe just weird, but I have tons of energy after the first 24 hours or so. The energy and ability to go and go lasts for a day or so after I break the fast.
I'm a fan of carnivore, fasting and resistance training. The combination is working really well for me.

TitusTwoWife reacted to Scott F. in does everyone fast?Dr. Chaffee has a video and pretty much says if you are eating once per day on carnivore there is no need to "fast". And then others don't call it 'intermittent fasting' but choose the term 'time restrictive eating'. I would guess going twenty hours apart it would not make much difference between one larger meal or two smaller meals.
And then it depends on the goals. If fasting is being done for weight loss then OMAD with 20+ hours between should serve the purpose, especially if the OMAD is the carnivore/low to zero carb approach.
The metabolic benefits require some longer fasts.
So far all the changes I have made have been relatively easy. I switched to carnivore cold turkey and didn't experience any cravings for all the crap I was eating before. When I tried fasting, I didn't have any issues going past 24, nor 48 and then 72 hours. No issues doing 96 hours and have done one 7-day water fast.
My biggest issue with fasting is how to break the fast. I have not figured that out at all. I have tried smaller meals, broths/soups, eggs, what feels like everything but fruits. (read about the benefits of melons recently but have not tried it) The first thing I eat gives me really loose stools for a day or so afterwards.
I just woke up from night shift and I am about 52-53 hours into this fast. Feel great. I had a solid lift this morning at the gym after work. Although I only slept from 10AM to 3PM I feel well rested. I'm going to lift again in the morning and then figure out when and how I break the fast from there.
Big fan of fasting. And if someone made this same post some two years ago I would think they were as full of it as a Christmas turkey. It makes no sense to be energetic and feel great from "not eating". I have found the more I read and experiment with fasting how little I actually knew about things before.

TitusTwoWife reacted to Geezy in does everyone fast?OMAD just came naturally to me in the beginning. I didn’t do it on purpose, it just happened. I had a rule that I would only eat when I was hungry. It seemed silly to eat by the clock. Our ancestors ate when they were hungry but we started eating by the clock to fit into corporate America timelines.
I now eat 2MAD to keep my weight up and to spread out my meals because as I said on another post, I would eat so much at my one meal that I would be too stuffed to get anything done.
Don’t concern yourself with eating ONAD just because other people are doing it. Do what works best for you. You’ll have less stress and feel better about your diet.

TitusTwoWife reacted to Geezy in What Did You Eat Today?Ate big today.
I normally only eat OMAD but today I ate twice.
Started around noon with a salmon quiche covered in mozzarella and sprinkled with Tabasco.
Then I prepared four hearts for the grill. Two lambs heart and two deer hearts.
Sliced and seasoned with salt, white pepper and a little dusting of garlic powder. Then refrigerated for several hours to dry marinade.
Basted with ghee and grilled over an open fire to a nice medium rare.
While all of this was going on I also took a deer liver and made liverwurst out of it. In the past just fried deer liver was just too strong and I always gave it to my dogs but making it into liverwurst is a game changer. My puppies will just have to go without now.
All combined made for a great meal of organ meats.

TitusTwoWife reacted to Bob in What Did You Eat Today? This was yesterday's breakfast. A 4-egg omelet stuffed with Jimmy Dean pork sausage and cheddar cheese inside, and then sprinkled with parmesan cheese on the outside. It was delicious and ended up being my only real meal yesterday (around 2pm). I snacked on pork rinds later on.

TitusTwoWife reacted to Scott F. in What Did You Eat Today?Ours are so basic.
We fry and as soon as they come out we sprinkle them with ranch dressing seasoning (flavor packs).
Quick and easy.
Hope all went well.

TitusTwoWife reacted to Bob in What Did You Eat Today? We had a karaoke party on Saturday night. Wife made beef meatballs in the crock pot so everyone could make meatball subs. I had mine sans bun of course. Future daughter in law brought this chicken dip she makes that is mostly carnivore friendly - it has Frank's Red Hot sauce in it. Someone else did bring a fruit tray and I admittedly snuck a strawberry.
