TitusTwoWife reacted to Scott F. in Patience is keyMy weight fluctuates as well. I'm the first one to say a person should not look at the scale every day to see those fluctuations, but I am also the first one to look at the scale every day.
Every third day or so I do a 'three day average' and consider that my weight. it sort of adjusts for the fluctuations.
When I was dropping weight really fast I could see my weight go up a pound but at the same time I had to cinch my belt up a notch. And then it would settle in on my 'new three day average;.
Good luck and congrats on your progresses.

TitusTwoWife reacted to Bob in Patience is keyIt's good to have "mini-goals" even though you do have a long-term overarching goal. Set smaller goals that are more reasonably within reach. Accomplishing them will make you feel good, and will be a stepping-stone towards your long-term goal.
I did the same thing when I wanted to go from 232 to 175. Every 10 pounds was a mile marker. These days, my weight swings from 175 to 178 on any given day depending on how much I eat, drink, and move.

TitusTwoWife got a reaction from Bob in Patience is keyMy husband and roommate are both off the diet and I do the cooking. What keeps me on track is breaking down my goal into smaller goals. My big goal is to get to 150 but I'm focused now on getting to 190. If I hit 190, Ill get my nails done at a salon. If I hit 180, I'll get a different reward, and so on till I hit my goal.

TitusTwoWife got a reaction from Bob in does everyone fast?I'd like to do 24 hours. There's something about carnivore that makes fasting feel natural.

TitusTwoWife reacted to Scott F. in Another somewhat extended fast completedI ate 5 or 6 pork shops Friday night about 8PM and last night around 2AM I ate a handful of beef jerky. Technically, I broke it then but will not eat again until tomorrow night.
The first 24 hours was a dry fast and then water fasting til tomorrow.
It is totally weird, or maybe I am weird, but I get the fact I can lose a few pounds here and there when fasting. I also understand there is metabolic benefits to allowing the body, for no better words, to catch up and reset. But as of late the weight and the metabolic health are more like bonuses to fasting. I am fasting now for no more reason than how good I feel from 24 hours and beyond.
I'm no spring chicken at 56, a hard 56 at that with most of those years eating a dumpster diet and working was the only working out I was doing. This past weekend I ate Friday night and I dumped 5500kgs of re-process material. That consists of tipping over a 50 kilo drum (a little over 100 pounds), lifting the back and dumping the powder into a process tank. The plant was well over 100 degrees til the early morning when it dropped to the mid-90's. I didn't eat for 24 hours and repeated another 5500 kilos on Saturday night and did the same last night soon after 48 hours of fasting. On Saturday morning I stopped by the gym a lifted for just about an hour, leg day on top of that.
Here I am on Monday morning with a boat load of energy and don't feel like I am going to sleep much today. Sort of awake and ready to do stuff. Feels good but sort of sucks knowing I have to do 12 more hours tonight.
Babbling til bedtime but carnivore, fasting and resistance training has been a life changer for me, and at times I would even say a life saver. That might be a stretch but at times I sort of feel that way.

TitusTwoWife reacted to Scott F. in Patience is keyLots of people eat outside the 'carnivore diet' when they first get started. It is more important to celebrate the fact you decided to eat this was again more so than focusing on the fact you ate outside the carnivore way of eating.
That actually can be a plan of easing into the way of eating long term.
As you recognize the rewards and the benefits hopefully that encourages you to make the 'carnivore' stretches last even longer.
The benefits come not as much from eating carnivore as it does from eliminating the non-carnivore items from the diet.

Carnivore is great, blah, blah, blah. Carnivore is good, blah, blah, blah.
It has worked wonders for me and to the point I can't really see eating another way.
Several months ago I started eating to hit a protein target and to that I had to eat more than I wanted. As the protein went up, so did the fat. I also stumbled upon the fact that a little bit of sugar triggers some hunger which helped me get to the protein target most days. With that I gained a h air over 20lbs in a couple three months.
When I switched back to a more normal/traditional carnivore approach the weight started to fall off again. I went from 215 to 238 and now back to 225, dropping 13 pounds in a month or so.
It's a pretty good plan. LOL
If I say another thing about somewhat repaid weight loss here my wife is going to administer some inflammation that not even carnivore can clear up. LOL

Like most things it is the response that counts.
Good luck.

TitusTwoWife reacted to Scott F. in Patience is keyNice work.
I had sort of morphed into eating once per day so going 24 hours sort of felt natural.
The first 24hours is the obstacle, stretching it out to 48 and beyond actually gets a bit easier.
I get an energy boost around 40 hours or so and sustain it out to 4+ days.
And if you had told me the same thing a couple years ago I would have looked at you like you were crazy, maybe even calling BS.
Great work. Good luck as you progress.

TitusTwoWife reacted to Scott F. in Patience is keyPretty much the same here. I try not say 'never; on anything but I do feel really confident it will be carnivore for me fo as far into the future as I can see.

TitusTwoWife reacted to Scott F. in Patience is keyI weigh most every day although I know I should not, but I keep doing.
When I was losing weight really fast if the scale tipped the other way it was disheartening. It was funny because due to body re-composition I could lose a pant size but gain a pound or so. My brain went to the pound gained vs. the size lost, which is polar opposite of I should have been thinking.
I sort of purposefully gained some weight back and this past week I went back to more of a carnivore approach of 'eating when hungry and eating til full'. I am starting to lose weight again now.
This morning from the front door to the shower I said no need to weigh today, just take a shower and crash after nightshift. I walked into the bathroom and stepped onto the scale probably out of habit as much as anything.

TitusTwoWife reacted to Geezy in does everyone fast?It is natural to many of us carnivores. We just don’t look at food the same anymore and quite often we just don’t experience hunger like we used to.
-
TitusTwoWife reacted to Geezy in Weight loss. They are generally the result of your body still adapting, adjusting or something in the diet that needs to be changed such as dairy. Dairy stalls most of us if we start eating it.
-
TitusTwoWife reacted to Geezy in What Did You Eat Today?Fatback and chicken livers…you must be southern.
-
TitusTwoWife reacted to Geezy in Patience is keyYou sound like you are truly becoming a carnivore and are on the right track.
I lost 50 pounds in a little less than a year but being a male it can be easier for us. Patience is the key to success and you are correct to not weigh every day. Just weigh once a week. Mondays are a good day to weigh as you start your week or Friday as you gI into the weekend to stay motivated. The best things you can do is to keep a daily journal detailing every step of your journey. Then once a month get out a cloth tape measure and measure every part of your body. Neck, shoulders, chest, belly, waist, hips, thighs, calves, biceps and forearms. Write this down in your journal and compare it month to month. Inches lost mean more than pounds lost.
Good luck on your journey and try to look at this as a lifestyle and not a diet. Diets come and go but a lifestyle belongs to you forever.

TitusTwoWife got a reaction from Geezy in Patience is keyI'm 5'8, 31, and have been trying to lose weight for over four years. Within those four years there have been two pregnancies. My husband lost over 70 lbs on carnivore. I lost 30 but didn't experience full ketosis due to the psyche meds I was on at the time. Now that the dose is lower, I finally have experienced ketosis and feel amazing.
I have had to be very patient. My goal weight is 150 and Im currently at 200lbs. So far this time starting May 1st, my weight is fluctuating a lot as I increase exercise and my appetite is going down. Im trying to no longer weigh every day but I allow two weigh ins a week now.
This thread is just to encourage myself and maybe others that all good things take time and for me its taking a long time but thats okay.
I consider my diet high fat carnivore. The more fat, the better I feel.
Ill also use this thread to record my progress.
