  1. I can relate. I've been addicted to and then quit the following, tobacco, cannabis, cocaine, alcohol and carbs ... probably more on my list too. What works for me may not be what works for you but I'd say cheat for one meal only, not one entire day. And if you are going to binge then binge on Carnivore food.
  2. Yes, Dr Bikman is firmly on the list of 'The Good Guys'
  3. Of course this article (not from the study itself) does say LDL level might be bad lacks vitamins and restricting to 800 calories has risks ..... usual crap. Who here eats under 800 calories?

  5. Yeah, I do the same sometimes, it all depends on your issues, in my case thats IBD so any plant material is a risk. Some guys won't even grate a little pepper. Hard to know where to draw the line. I'd hate to give up coffee and that's plant material right? ..... but thats a whole topic on it's own.
  6. Hmmm thinking this might work in some form or other? Should eat the heads really
  7. Yeah, who'd have thought the science writers would could be so deceitful. We do suffer plenty of opposition but of course 'real life' experience is on our side. Hey Old Marine, do you have Raynaud's phenomenon? also know as 'white finger'. I had this nerve damage (now reversed) from years of chain saw vibration.
  8. Welcome Binny. You'll be OK. Give up drinking one day at a time. You don't need a drink today. Then tomorrow start by doing the same thing. Also, one reason we are here is that we give things up. We get good at it. I started by giving up Drugs, then I gave up Smoking, next was Booze, then Carbs, Last thing I gave up was plants.
  9. Amazing step by step logical approach. We are the best doctors we've got. In my case that's a worrying thought because I'm not that smart!
  10. Yeah, very hard question to anwser. One way is to experiment on yourself. Do you sleep OK? Try eating more, no result try using more electrolyes. Then try eating more fat and less protein etc etc etc. Everything is within a range but we are all slightly different with our nutrient requirements
  11. Here's one thought on IF. Recently I was diagnosed with IBD, I was in a bad way, 16 really unpleasant, rushed visits to the smallest room. This was something I'd had on and off for many years. Anyway, I had to do something and refused the meds, so I thought I'd give my guts a rest, let them heal was my thought, seemed logical. I did a 3 day fast, that was 2 months ago, I've just had my results back from a calprotectin test (the marker for IBD) and my doctor can find zero evidence of IBD, she's in shock! my calprotectin score was 6 mg/g, she said that's about the best score she's seen in anyone. I'll be doing this 3 day fast once every month.
  12. I use one, it suits the cooking style I like for steaks. I give the steak a good sear then pop the lid on for a few minutes rest. I find it gives predictable results. And a bonus feature is the fat doesn't fly around quite so bad.
  13. I fast 1st 2nd and 3rd of every month. For me the 1st day is the hardest. We burn ketones so energy levels are no problem. I used to have stubborn 3kg I couldn't get rid of ..... but that when with fasting. I feel 3 days gives your gut a break. I feel great for it. My advice, keep the salts and water up and make that 1st meal a small one.
  14. I really love bone broth so my slow cooker gets plenty of action. I'll cook something like Shoulder of lamb without adding any extra water. Think I'd do something different with the ground beef. My current favourite is just crumble it into chunks and brown it in tallow.
