  1. The consensus in the carnivore community is.... minimal. Grass fed will have a slightly improved nutritional and omega-3 profile, but whether this makes it better than grain fed beef is questionable to some, negligible to others. Carnivore doctors and influencers will say if you can afford it, then buy it, because you are supporting your local farmer or regenerative agriculture and not throwing your money at the inhumane beef industry. BUT, if you can't afford it, don't sweat it. The grain fed stuff is going to still benefit you tremendously. Now with chicken and pork, this is a somewhat different story. The ruminants have their multi-chambered stomachs, and detox the plants and grains so that the bad stuff doesn't become part of their flesh. Chicken and pork on the other hand are monogastric animals, and so those that are grain fed will have a much higher omega-6 content, which we generally want to avoid (which is why we shun seed oils).
  2. Excellent follow up interview. I played this at work yesterday while I grouted 🙂
  3. There's some science to this. When you fast and exercise you are using more energy. More energy expenditure will increase appetite. Then when you do break your fast, you can't stop inhaling everything around you. With carnivore, this isn't usually a problem. We very much advocate eat until you are comfortably full. But then you bring up this... It does sound like the Alpha Gal Syndrome that you can get from a tick bite. But that usually only gives you a reaction to red meat. Poultry and fish are often still manageable. We have a member here who reports that he occasionally struggles with meat and eggs due to long-COVID symptoms. Maybe you are dealing with a similar issue? My only suggestion would be to make the food as palatable as you possibly can. Start with an all-natural whole foods approach, such as keto/ketvore. Take advantage of seasonings and sauces for now. And then slowly and gradually try to transition things to more of a strict carnivore diet. And when I say slow, I mean take your time. We're hoping you can train your palate to learn to love these foods again. Also try to think what specifically could be behind the acne. I would definitely swear off grains and refined sugars. And then beyond that try eliminating lectin-heavy foods for a while. If that doesn't work then switch it up and try eliminating oxylate heavy foods for a while, etc. Work your way through the common plant toxins to try and determine if one of these is your specific trigger.
  4. I've just got one. It's a Char-Broil Infrared grill, 4-burners plus and extra one on the side where you can boil water or use a small griddle. The wife wants to get one that is a griddle across the entire surface. We have a smoker that the wife bought. It's electric though. But works well. You can add wood chips for flavor, etc.
  5. I don't, but I remember a user named @Carburetor talked about his experience with it. His topic is here at this link...
  6. I saw a 2-lb side of trout at Sam's Club over the weekend. It's a fatty fish like Salmon. So I bought it and made it last night and ate the entire thing. It was delicious. Probably better than the salmon because I think I would have flavor fatigued with the salmon after the 1st pound but with the trout I kept going till it was gone, lol.
  7. Oh, okay. Maybe not then, lol. I thought it would be about health, nutrition, and food.
  8. I've actually never limited these things, and I have never had a problem. I still salt to taste. I do, however, avoid products like LMNT because I take losartan potassium for blood pressure, and the added potassium in LMNT will put my potassium levels above the high range.
  9. Good news for Tapatalk users. They have released a version for IPS 5.0 (that may still be buggy)... https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/tapatalksupport/tapatalk-for-ipboard-plugin-release-announcement-a-t4031-s150.html#p260661 I'll move forward with upgrading Carnivore Talk soon, and we will install Tapatalk for IPS 5 and test how well it works.
  10. I will sometimes cut off a slice and eat it raw as I am preparing to cook a steak. I've done it just to try it. It wasn't bad. And believe it or not, I though raw liver was better than cooked liver. But I am not in the habit of eating raw meat at all. A nice "medium" is still my favorite style.
  11. Bob commented on Bob's comment on a blog entry in Carnivore Talk "Shorts"
The two can be synonymous. It's just that "diet" has taken on additional meanings over the years. Diet: habitual nourishment Lifestyle: the typical way of life of an individual, group, or culture
  12. I'll be adding up the entries soon. Maybe we will do the drawing on Monday's Zoom call. We need an April theme, or an April-May theme. Like "Spring to Success" or something similar. We could add a few things in there, carb goals, water goals, step goals. What do you think?
  13. That's awesome. I quit coffee but still have a hot tea and some artificially sweetened caffeinated beverages throughout the day. That's really the next addiction I need to focus on. I would be curious if I would see better and faster results with water alone.
  14. Slurp it up, lol. I actually do depending on what I am cooking. If it renders out of a burger I will probably scrape it off and toss it in the can. But when I am making tacos, I don't drain the fat. When I make breakfast sausage or bacon, I will literally lick the plate clean 🙂
  15. If either @Terry or @Scott F. would like to do an interview-style YouTube video and share their stories and successes, I think that would be fantastic. I have a couple friends with MS. One of them has a very bad form of it, and it's debilitating. He's had to quit work and file for and fight for disability, and lost a lot in the process. He's on several daily pills, suffers brain fog, and has put on a chunk of weight. He hasn't really wanted to hear about my diet while his hand is in a bag of chips. But a video - he could watch that in his free time, privately, and not feel like he's being lectured to, lol.
  16. Welcome aboard Jesse! It's been about a week now. How are you fairing with the changes?
  17. I had to search up what those are. Never heard of them. Now I want some, lol 😄

It might. What chart it that? That doesn't sound right at all. A ribeye should have that near perfect 1:1 ratio unless someone went and trimmed off all the fat. According to the federal food database, your 100g piece of ribeye (approx 3.5 ounces) contains 20g of fat and 19g of protein... https://fdc.nal.usda.gov/food-details/2646172/nutrients
  19. Cool. I'll have to grab me a copy. I love the title, lol.
  20. Exactly. My body will do something much different with 2500 calories of steak than it will with 2500 calories of donuts, lol. I can lose weight with the one, but will get very fat with the latter.
  21. How much fat and how much protein should you be eating on a carnivore diet? How do you calculate your fat to protein ratio? In this video we explain how to get a 70% fat to 30% protein ratio in your diet, which is the common recommendation. We also explain how to achieve the oft sought after 80% fat to 20% protein ratio that many people strive for and thrive on. 23. This is kinda sorta true, and kinda sorta not. It depends on what we consider a "mask". I previously said... Maybe now it's best to differentiate between a "mask" and a "respirator". The cloth mask by itself is useless. You would need to wear multiple ones. The recommendation was at least 3 cloth masks. The principle here was that it would not protect you from others, but would deflect your exhalation out the left and right sides instead of directly at the person in front of you. I spoke incorrectly about the surgical masks. They are even more useless than the cloth mask. They are designed to protect against droplets from both the surgeon's mouth to the patients wound, and from the patients fluids splashing towards to surgeon's mouth, but will be ineffective against aerosols and small particles. The N95's, which is a respirator, not a mask, offers the best incoming protection, but if it has a vent to make exhalation easier and to prevent moisture buildup inside the mask, then it does nothing to protect others from you. It's simply protecting you from others and doing a pretty damn good job of it too. But they are the most uncomfortable.
  24. All in one meal? Wow! That's almost 3 pounds in one sitting.
