  1. So I'm going to go check my cystatin C, and my gut's telling me that my cystatin C is going to come back and still say twenty three, and that I'm fine. But I will tell you that when I opened up my test results on Friday and I saw the creatinine was 7.81 and the eGFR was 8 that shook me up. That did shake me up a bit and I'm just kind of like 'OK try not to let it get to your head.' Let's do some more blood work first you know before I get out of control because like I still feel fine. I sleep fine. I wake up fine. I go to work fine. I'm not nauseous. I don't have the sweats. I don't throw up. I have no symptoms. I have 0 symptoms of chronic kidney disease. So obviously I have chronic kidney disease, but yeah, that was scary as all get out. Which is going to be kind of a bummer because it's going to kind of negate the kidney video I made if I if I've actually if I've actually lost ground and I'm going to need a transplant or something like that, which I hope not. But if I get the test and the cystatin C and my eGFR is 23 and all my other markers are good .... 2. Pink slime is still being used in hundreds of meat products worldwide as a food additive or filler. Pink slime refers to boneless lean beef trimmings and finely textured beef, which are meat byproducts used in ground beef, sausages, hot dogs, and deli meats. The United States Department of Agriculture has reclassified the product once referred to as “pink slime” or “lean finely textured beef” as simply “ground beef”. You are likely still consuming "pink slime" from a variety of the foods you eat. However, there is one fast food chain that stopped using it all the way back in 2011. 4. Because of my ulcerative colitis (now cured), I probably have more colonoscopy experience than anybody here, lol. Geoff is right on par. There is very little waste eating a carnivore diet. Almost all the fat, protein, and nutrients get absorbs and used by your body. It will take some time before you have to defecate again. My disease had me going at least a dozen times a day. It was amazing, yet strange, when that slowed down to once or twice a week.
  5. @Geezy has had some heart peculiarities. He was kind enough to let me interview him here...
  6. And he was definitely on to something. This jives with the claim that humans are hypercarnivores, meaning that we get more than 70% of our diet from meat.
  7. Lol. They are? "They calculated, approximately, a single day of increase in life expectancy for each year of taking a statin. Slightly more in secondary prevention, slightly less in primary (people who have not previously had a heart attack or a stroke). The main take away message I believe, is the following. Statins do not prevent fatal heart attacks and strokes. They can only delay them. They delay them by about one or two days per year of treatment. For those who have read my books you will know that I have regularly suggested we get rid of the concept of ‘preventative medicine’. We need to replace it with the concept of ‘delayative medicine’. You cannot stop people dying. You can only make them live longer. How much longer is the key question. With statins this question has been answered. You can, to be generous, add a maximum of two days per year to life expectancy. Which means that if you were to take a statin for thirty years you could expect to live about two months longer. (Possibly three, more likely one). Assuming, and this is a big assumption, that none of the trials done have been in any way biased towards statins. Even though every single one was funded by the pharmaceutical industry. Further assuming that any benefits seen in the trials will continue for the next twenty-five years." 8. Have you been weight-stable for the last 3 months? Or if you are still losing weight, is it at a much slower pace? There is LDL stored in adipose tissue (i.e. fat) that gets released into the blood stream when you lose weight, causing a spike. Eventually it gets cleared out and your numbers go back down. I initially had LDL around 92. Went I started losing weight on carnivore, it spiked to the upper 300's. Now they sit comfortably at 208 according to the last draw. Correct. Ancel Keys. Sugar and grain lobbyists. Pointing the finger at saturated fat and cholesterol. Especially in regard to lipids. I had a Doctor appointment today. He ordered up a BMP just so we can see if my kidneys function is improving having gone off the prescription he had me on that was killing me. When I said I wasn't fasting he said he wasn't ordering a lipid panel but he could if I wanted him too. I simply said "Honestly, I could care less about my lipid markers" lol.
  9. That pepper looks to be a bit spicy That was me too. Prediabetes, CKD, Colitis, memory issues, brain fog, trouble breathing, etc. Finally I was like "I gotta make a change".
  10. Is it lactose intolerance? If so, there are a number of cheeses that you can enjoy with little to no lactose at all. Cream cheese is often well-tolerated because it is low in lactose, about 2g per ounce. A sudden change in diet is difficult for anybody, especially a 7 year old addicted to sweets. This may need to be done gradually. The elimination of grains, seed oils, and refined sugar (i.e. processed food) is your first objective. Most people will do well just eating what nature provides, basically animal products, fruits, and vegetables (especially veggies that are in reality also fruits). On the other hand, she will eat when she is hungry enough, and if she has any substantial belly/body fat she then she has plenty of fuel in reserve. But even so, we want to see her get proper nutrition.
  11. You haven't suffered in a White Castle then, lol. I used to hate McDonald's. But now that I am a carnivore, I think their plain quarter pound patties are the best among fast food establishments. I used to eat Wendy's but now I can't. McDonald's has won my tastebuds over.
  12. Not here the USA. It's 100% pure beef over here with no fillers. The quarter pounder should be.... a quarter pound
  13. Facebook has always been a thief. They have never really done anything original. It started as a MySpace clone. Google+ came along, and offer Circles. Facebook steals and adds "Friends Lists". Google+ starts Communities. Facebook steals and starts "Facebook Groups". Google+ offers Video Conferencing. Facebook adds video conferencing to Messenger. Facebook tries to steal video from YouTube. Snapchat introduces Stories. Facebook steals and adds "Reels" to Instagram. TikTok becomes a thing. Facebook modifies "Reels" to function the same and adds it to Facebook too. Musk buys Twitter. Facebook starts Threads, basically a Twitter/X clone. Musk champtions free speech on X. And now Zuckerberg is promising free speech on Facebook.
  14. What's in the burger patties? Are they prepackaged? Is there an ingredients list? Most ground beef, at least here in the USA, is 100% beef with no fillers. There are 0 carbs or just trace carbs. You have to portion it out and make your own patties. But in the prepacked burgers you might find some fillers - grain, oils, corn starch, etc. We normally want to avoid these things. Eggs also have trace carbs, but that's fine. A carnivore diet is low carb, but not necessarily carb free. There are a myriad of factors that can cause a weight loss stall. Carbs creeping into your diet. Overeating. Eating before going to sleep. Undereating and your body slows down metabolism as a survival mechanism because it thinks there is a famine. Hormone imbalance. Thyroid or other medical issues. And more. All we can do is make suggestions on where to look and what to try. But it's YOUR N=1 experiment, and YOUR N=1 results.
  15. Now there's a real northerner, lol Welcome aboard!
  16. If it was me, I would keep it up, and keep monitoring, and trying little tweaks here and there (like adding fatty fish for the Omega-3's etc). Your HDL and Trig levels are not yet totally awful, although I understand the cause for concern. Most people see trigs drop, and then we often here about the Trig:HDL ratio being ideal at 2:1 or better for a lower risk of cardiac disease. Imagine how I feel sometimes when mine hover around 700 and spiked to 3000 at one point. I'm still ticking though Keto is known to help improve PCOS. Over time you become more insulin sensitive, your hormones may balance out, and more. Maria Emmerich, a keto-carnivore advocate, used to have PCOS, but now it's cured. I believe I've heard the same about Kelly Hogan, who initially gained weight her first year of carnivore before she started to lose weight. She stuck to it because she knew she was healing and was experiencing benefits. At the same time, a clean keto/vore or animal-based diet are still proper human diets. You could try reintroducing a vegetable or fruit one at a time every other week or so to see if it causes bloating or other reactions, and likewise test to see how it impacts your lipid markers.
  17. McDonald's invites journalists into their facilities to observe the process of preparing their burgers before it's been ground up all the way to when it is packaged and ready to ship to demonstrate that it is indeed 100% real beef. 20. Which is more than you are consuming now. Interesting. Those are healthy fats. Which lends some credence to the high protein theory. I can see why the functional medicine doctor suggested it. Since obviously weight loss wasn't your "why" for starting carnivore, what was?
  21. Carnivore has been a major game changer in my life, and a huge eye-opener into human nutrition. But overall, this dietary choice has worked wonders for me, to the point where it seems almost miraculous. and more people need to know about the benefits that can come from applying it. There are so many overweight and obese individuals out there as well as those who suffer from chronic disease and auto-immune conditions and the reality is, the power is in their hands to greatly improve their condition, and in many cases fix it completely. 22. I came across this doctor named Ken Berry. He’s a big proponent of keto. He teaches a “clean keto” which is basically all the meat you can eat as well as some low carb veggies, and says not to buy into that net carb garbage. He basically says stay under 20g of carbs a day to lose weight and for maintenance you could have up to 100g. No seed oils, no sugar, no grains. Just meat, maybe some cheese, a little low carb veg, a few berries or a few nuts. 23. Do you wanna go back to 118? Intermittent fasting, extended fasting, and calorie/fat reduction would accomplish that. What your functional medicine doctor said is just one of many possibilities. I was told the same thing by a two popular carnivore doctors. I upped my fat intake and my trigs continued to skyrocket. You either manufacture your own trigs, or you consume them with your meal. The fat you eat contains triglycerides. Triglycerides are used for energy. High triglycerides are a surplus of energy for one reason or another, either (1) over consumption, (2) over production, or (3) not utilizing them, or (4) have a disease such as kidney, liver, or thyroid, or (5) have a lipid disorder prohibiting them from being metabolized or broken down. You can be tested for thyroid, liver, kidney issues, and hypertriglyceridemia. Other conditions such as type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome should heal over time with a proper diet. Things you can control include lower consumption and increase exercise. Omega-3's are shown to be beneficial, so maybe swap out some of that beef and lamb for some fatty fish a couple times a week or so.
