MissLaceyD got a reaction from Angela Little in What Did You Eat Today?Every morning I scramble 6 eggs with 3+ tbsps of butter so it’s nice and creamy. I never get tired on it, ever! For lunch I usually pan fry some bone in skin on chicken thighs (2-3 medium sized pieces) and then I will eat some medium rare Tri tip, my favorite cut of beef! I avoid dairy (besides butter) as I would definitely over consume it, eating this way has made me very aware of the food addiction behavior I previously never knew I had! And I came from eating Weston A Price, which leans heavily towards animal based , fermented foods, raw dairy, and cooked vegetables… still too many carbohydrates for me.
if I need snacks (only if I don’t eat enough fat typically), I’ll eat a couple chomp sticks, smoked salmon with crispy bacon, or buttery shrimp.

MissLaceyD got a reaction from Orweller in What Did You Eat Today? Some foods I never tire of or can lean on pretty consistently without issue… scrambled eggs and lots of butter and grilled bone in skin on chicken - I love salty crispy chicken skin!
my life is so much easier eating this way, for my lunch I just packed these up in a stainless steel container and cook at work (I am a professional childcare provider) since I have access to the kitchen. I pop these into the toaster oven and by the time I have a toddler asleep they are ready for me to eat. Not to mention this is very affordable. I buy big packs and portion into 4-5 pieces to reseal and freeze. Since it is not nearly enough fat, I do make sure to eat more butter with chicken - I do still log food to make sure I eat enough in general but also aim for around 70%fat 30%protein as I feel best at this range.
Anyone else love chicken?!

MissLaceyD reacted to Bob in What Did You Eat Today?I like chicken. Last night I had 10 wings/legs from a local pizza place with regular hot buffalo sauce. We were at a friends house playing cards and suddenly they all wanted a pizza, so i had to figure out what I could eat, lol. This was as carnivore as I could stay in the moment.
I have no idea what was in the sauce, and I'm willing to bet that they were deep fried in seed oils, but it is what it is and this is a rare situation for me so I don't fret about it.
When I make chicken at home, there is usually bacon to go along with it so I get some fat in.

MissLaceyD reacted to Geezy in What Did You Eat Today?Chaffle burgers today.
Got a pot of yogurt fermenting right now and started making bacon today also.
It’ll wet brine for 7 days.

MissLaceyD reacted to Orweller in What about Calcium and Potassium?Another idea I'll blatantly steal from you.

MissLaceyD got a reaction from Bob in What Did You Eat Today? In case you are looking - have a peak at the electric lunch boxes! I bought one on Amazon and it has saved me from a long line of employees competing for the single toaster oven. They come with both a standard electric and 12v cable. Usually takes me about 15-20 minutes to reheat, so I plug in before lunch break and it’s nice and hot by the time I eat. It does take longer than a microwave, but it seals in the steam better than a microwave.

MissLaceyD got a reaction from Bob in What about Calcium and Potassium?Best to test than to guess, I too used to supplement with the “highest quality” brands out there, back when I was vegan - that habit stuck with me until I found Weston A Price lifestyle. Another perspective on supplements is that you would never encounter such a dose in nature, without any cofactors. I know getting numbers up to healthy range is important - but low and slow is better/more natural than high and fast.
as for the egg shells, coffee grinder works best 😉 since it is such a small amount for a standard blender you won’t get it fine enough, hence the extra grit.

MissLaceyD reacted to Bob in What Did You Eat Today?True that! Same here.
I would eat a junk breakfast. I kept nuts in the truck and snacked on them at work. Fast food on the lunch break. Went out to eat half the time for dinner with the family. Snacked on flavored tortilla chips and salsa every night before bed, and sucked down a few tasty adult beverages as well. Now that I have been doing this for the last 8 months and am educated (and still learning) I look back and it's no wonder I was obese with deteriorating health.
An eye-opener indeed.
Welcome aboard @MissLaceyD. Only your first post gets caught in the queue. Thank you for your patience.

MissLaceyD reacted to Steven2023 in What Did You Eat Today? That may be healthier than a microwave.

MissLaceyD got a reaction from Orweller in What about Calcium and Potassium? If you are eating a wide variety of animal foods, like meat, seafood and dairy, then you should be getting the required amount. If you have had recent testing that shows otherwise, I would not recommend supplementing blindly.
With that said, I do not eat dairy products with exception of butter, and choose to make my own eggshell powder from soy/corn free pastured eggs (you would buy or raise the eggs, clean and bake, then grind into a fine powder) and sprinkle into food or drink of choice. I don’t do this often, but when I feel I need it (when I go for long time without seafood or variety). Another recommendation is making bone broth, it’s very easy! I buy a whole chicken and some chicken feet, put the whole thing in a large pot with fresh water and salt, and slow cook for 8 hours. I let it cool then strain the broth into mason jars and wear gloves to pull apart the chicken meat into a separate container (I don’t eat the feet tbh). Then I have broth for a week and shredded chicken for easy meal prep. You can do this with a meaty bone from beef or lamb if preferred. I just recommend doing a large batch to last a week or so, because it is a long process and I personally don’t want to be making every other day.
Hope this helps! Of course you can take a supplement, if it is more convenient to you and you can see exactly how much you are dosing. I just feel like if you can eat it, then you get the natural cofactors as well. Cheers!
