SuperCow reacted to Bob in Hi, I am new to carnivoreAnd of course, this is just fine. Probably especially so since you are slender already.
I started with low carb, then went to dirty keto (still using "keto" bread, bars, wraps, etc), and then went to clean keto (no grains, sugars, or starches, just meat and veggies) and then finally carnivore. So I too had to transition into it over the course of a couple months.
Today, I call myself "mostly carnivore" or "97% carnivore" because most days I am, but every once in awhile I still have a side veggie or piece of fruit, somewhere between occasionally and seldom ever, lol. At this point in my journey and education, I am wary of certain plants or plant parts, but not of others.
But I have vowed never to touch grains or refined sugar ever again. I try to avoid seed oils, and only have to put up with them on the rare occasion that I dine out.

SuperCow reacted to Jen in Hi, I am new to carnivoreI think this is a good idea, going full carnivore straight away is too much of a sudden change for some people.
I went keto at the end of 2019 and did really well for about 3 months and mostly felt great, then C19 sent everything into chaos and I wasn't able to continue, but remembered how good I felt.
This time I started slowly, first I eliminated sugar and started using Stevia and Erythritol as a replacement. Next I went gluten free, then I eliminated all grains, then I stopped using seed and vegetable oils, and now I do mostly carnivore during the week and ketovore on the weekends by adding a few low carb vegetables and berries.
You have to experiment and find out what works best for you, listen to your own body and take things one day at a time. If you make a mistake, that's fine, just keep going from where you left off.

SuperCow reacted to Orweller in Hi, I am new to carnivoreLike I have adressed already, if you go back carnivore, take a period of time to slowly reduce carbs.
-
SuperCow reacted to Orweller in Hi, I am new to carnivoreGo carnivore for a couple of weeks, slowly reduce carbs prior to that.
Once you're there slowly introduce new foods and focus remaining at least in ketosis. Use it as an elimination diet of sorts. I eat avocados, or pickles, carrots, in very small amounts, even almonds now. Dirty carnivore is an option, or "ketovore" and if that isn't desirable, there is still going just keto. Start it back again as if you have all those options so you don't feel trapped either. Can you imagine the benefits you felt in just a week, what it may do for you over a prolonged period of time. We're not striving for perfection here. No diet is truly perfect.

SuperCow got a reaction from Bob in Hi, I am new to carnivoreMy flu is away 😅
2 things i have noticed doing full carnivore for only 5 days.
I have now about 3 years tinnitus not from hearing damage (my hearing is checked 3 years ago it was perfect score of a 18y old) and its 24/7 present
In day 2 or 3 into carnivore my tinnitus went much down in intensity..like alot, now i'm on my normal diet, and in 1 day its back in full force.
I almost always have bleeding gum when brushing my teeth (4 out of 7 days) well you guessed it my gums felt great in those few days no bleeding. Now its back with a vengeance.
So i want to start doing carnivore soon again, but maybe going little more gentle, allowing some carbs.

So good to read this thread. I’m only a few days into carnivore and I think I let myself get too hungry today. I didn’t think I could face my dinner of chicken and beef. It seemed so boring. I’m making myself eat it, and reading about all the benefits you folks have experienced is helping me feel more positive. Eating this way is so different that sometimes I wonder if I’m mad for doing it.

Yes, the energy thing is real. Sometimes, I get an energy boost and I feel like a little kid. 🙂 I just want to run or jump sometimes when I feel that. Just a feeling of exuberance or happiness. 🙂

This is a good post because I need to start writing this down, lol.
I've lost 50 pounds, going from 225 to 175, from wearing size 38's to size 34's. I had an issue with skin tags. They are all gone now. Even with medication my blood pressure was 145/95, it's now 118/80 on average. I suffered from knee pain due to being an overweight tile setter. That's gone away. I had ulcerative colitis. I don't anymore (soon to be confirmed). I had severe bleeding gums when I brushed, and this too has gone away. I've gone from always being lethargic and fatigued to having the energy to do anything. I'll add to this if I remember more.
EDITS:
No more acne / clear skin. No more gas. More emotionally stable. -
I've been full carnivore for about 2 1/2 - 3 months. I think it's making my skin softer. I've started thinking that the skin on my face feels softer. Then earlier today, while I was on the phone with my cousin. I took my socks off and it felt like my feet were getting softer. I use to have rough callouses around my heel. But I think they've softened. Not sure if I'm imagining this. 🙂
Anyone else notice specific benefits that were surprising?

My list is so long that sometimes I forget some of it but here goes.
9 months ago, when I became a carnivore, I couldn’t walk a hundred yards without a walking stick for support because of my back. In about 30 days I could walk a mile with no support and after 90 days I was walking 3 miles briskly with no support.
IBS of over 30 years was cured in 30 days. Crohn’s was cured as well.
Inflammation and arthritis 90 % gone. I couldn’t make a fist with my right hand for years but in 2 weeks on carni I could.
Floaters in my eyes noticeably reduced.
My cardiologist has taken me off of one of my heart medications and is wanting to start reducing the other. It’s now been over a month since I’ve noticed a PVC or flutter in my heart.
I don’t think I have sleep apnea anymore.
My dandruff that I’ve had all of my life is gone.
I’ve lost 55 pounds and 32.5 inches over my whole body.
9 months ago at the age of 67 I felt like I was 87 years old and just waiting for death to take me.
Today I feel 47 years old and feel like I’ve got my whole life ahead of me.

SuperCow got a reaction from Lynn D in Too Skinny?Ive always been "skinny" that is how my body is build. I am 6'0 and about 150lbs. Most heavy Ive ever been is 163.
I think overweight people are little less here then in the USA, but like me, i am called skinny all the time, but my BMI is healthy 20.5
My jeans size is 30
I do have bodyfat, around 18% so i my goals is to lose some fat, and gain it back in muscle, i don't have any muscles to speak of atm 😅

SuperCow got a reaction from Sherry in Hi, I am new to carnivoreHello, I am Roland 41y old, and I am from the Netherlands.
I just started to do the carnivore diet, after hearing it few years ago (Joe Rogan, Jordan Peterson)
Many years i have digestion problem, mostly with my gut. Bloated, unable to go to the toilet.
About 6 months ago i had c19 it got much worse.
My weight never has been a problem, but i dont eat much, about 1500kcal.
Few years ago Ive discovered i had bone lose.
So my goal is to get a better digestion, and maybe increase my bonemass. (end of this year there is a dexa scan planned)
I hope i can stick to the diet, the first 2 days where hard, painful stomach/liver/gallbladder. It seems to get little bit better now.

SuperCow got a reaction from Orweller in Hi, I am new to carnivoreAH thats cool, Dank dat zal ik doen.
Last December i had some bloodwork done, LDL, HDL, Triglyceriden, KREATININE (and many more) etc. All where in normal range.
I already take a few years C, D3, K2 mk7, and a good multivitamin (ADAM Men's Multi Now Foods)
My boneloss is that i have a issue with hormones.
I think i can get something comparable here in the Netherlands, https://www.bulk.com/eu/electrolyte-powder.html (the natrual one)
But i am having a real hard time now, i got the flu (the real one) sore throat, coughing, stuffy nose and back pain (kidneys?) salty taste in my mouth, and overall i dont feel well. i think I am going to skip dinner, and see tomorrow how i feel.
Ive measured my bloodpressure and that is normal 112/71

SuperCow reacted to Orweller in Too Skinny? That means you are doing a good job. Yes, you can become too skinny, but what we have to consider is body composition. You still want to see muscle tissue, definition. And yes, Americans have gotten so overweight, the social norm has changed on what we deem healthy. Any person who lost tons of weight will look thinner, because of skin, and because they are used to seeing you fuller, if that makes sense.
I am 5'8 and 139.5, from 148 since I started. I had no weight loss goals. But still around my waist it jumped off and I feel light and energetic. So long as you feel energetic and light, you are not too thin. Again I stress, physical exercise is so important on this diet. We put all those nutrients in our bodies we need to put them to work.
Americans always have called me skinny. I never got it. I have muscle definition, low body fat, even got abs now! I see myself as being fit. and I always correct a person, I say: no I am fit, not skinny. In fact I've got less skin than you!
Just keep on doing your thing!

SuperCow reacted to Geezy in Too Skinny? For those who have reached their weight loss goals or are close to it, have your friends or family told you that you’re too skinny. Mine have.
While I’m lighter than I’ve been since I was a teenager my waist size is still not at my thinnest. Whereas I was a 40 + inch waist I’m down to a 34 inches but in my prime I was a 32. Also there’s still some belly on me.
What I find funny and maybe a little sad is that we as Americans have have become so overweight as a society that when we see someone who is actually at the normal weight and body size they should be they are labeled too skinny.
I love studying and researching history and a common denominator I see in the old photos of our past is the body composition of those who came before us. The majority of people were thin and wiry.
It’s amazing how social norms have changed in just a few short decades.
Personally I love being called too skinny and it wouldn’t hurt my feelings none if I got even skinnier. [emoji13]
