    Namaste everyone.
    Missed you all.
So I did a fast for a while and it went really well. On some days I ate some beef fat. Then one day I bought some butter and ate the whole packet. Something I have said on here that I react to and I did not want to eat in the future. I have continued to eat a pack of butter each day for the last four days.
I have eaten out too which again I  have said on here that I do not want to do anymore.
I have also eaten bacon, another thing I do not want to eat. I only want to eat ruminant meats.
I have also eaten eggs since breaking the fast. They were yummy.
I know that all of this is emotional eating.
I have to go back to eating ruminant meat only and beef fat. I have so much beef fat in my freezer. Butter is more comforting! My addict loves it.
    I am inflamed again.
I fasted to give my gut a rest and now all I am doing is thinking about eating. I am not even hungry.
I am telling myself that until my body is thriving and I actually know when I am hungry, it is probably best to stay away from fasting.
    Any feedback welcome.
Thinking of buying an air fryer.
Today I have eaten a pack of butter and approx 400g of sirloin steak.

Did you eat the onions? If not it wasn’t a cheat meal. In fact it’s more than likely that your meat was cooked with seed oils. The onion will not contaminate your meat and the small amounts of seed oils used for grilling the meat won’t hurt you unless you are extremely sensitive to them.
Now if you gave in to those onions then shame on you for being human. [emoji23]
Seriously, don’t sweat the small stuff.
When we go to a Mexican joint I will generally get the shrimp or fajitas and there is always peppers and onions but it’s pretty simple to just pick out the meat and stay clean.

So today might be considered a cheat day. Maybe/Maybe not.
My God-son just turned 16 and since he was a young guy his birthday has been at his favorite Mexican restaurant.
I felt like I asked all the right questions and thought I ordered this meat platter the best way for me. It showed up and it was amazing. It tasted great and as I moved some of it around I thought I tasted onion and then the meat was piled on top of a pile of fried onions. I had started eating, was not going to return it and for sure was not going to waste it.
I think I will tack on a mile tomorrow morning. LOL

Burger last night. Everything is on sale this week for the 4th of July (Independence Day in the USA). I got some 80/20 ground beef for $1.99/lb. Ribeyes are down to $9.99/lb. etc.
This morning was my staple, eggs and sausage.

All brand new to me so I guess "my definitions" morph at times.
So far so good with making the carnivore diet fit my lifestyle vs. me making a bunch of changes, especially since being a rotating shift worker is like living on another planet anyway. After 30+ years (36 including military time) of shift type work I no longer have normal days like Monday or Thursday, weekends or week days, nor do I have holidays such as July 4th, Christmas Day or New Year's Eve. After all these years all I see on a calendar is dayshift, nightshift and off. Just those three days over and over.
I could be intermittent on nightshift really easy because a big chunk of the day is sleeping and to and from work. 48 hours over nightshift was way easier than I thought. I really think another 12-24 would have been a snap.
I think the one meal a day (OMAD) approach is the intermittent part and then stretched out past 24 is fasting. This week, those are "my definitions". LOL
    They may change next week.

For definitions, I always thought of intermittent fasting as something done within a 24 hour day, with a small eating window of 8 hours or less and a larger fasting window of at least 16 hours or more. Anything beyond 24 hours is an "extended fast", at least in my head.

I like the graphic as well.
I'm less than 2 months in on the carnivore diet. I just did my first 48 hour fast. It was much easier than I thought. At 48 hours I had yet to be hungry. That is really weird. I ate maybe a pound of pulled pork last night and had some left but simply felt full. I ate some colby jack cheese as well.
I am a 12 hour rotating shift worker. There are not many positives to this work schedule but I think I have found it may be easier to fast during my stretch of nightshifts. Even before carnivore I see stretches of dayshifts where I don't take or make the time to eat. Night shift not quite as bad, but close.
I think I am going to start fasting on night shift. I can do a 36-48 hour fast a couple three time per month. I'm not sure if that puts a little more intermittent in intermittent fasting. I don't know how regular the fasting needs to be as I would fast about two weeks apart and wonder would I need to do it again on the following two weeks when I am on days and off?

I've gone 8 days without eating, on purpose.  It was an amazing experience....I had so much more free time, I could smell things like never before, I lost 11 pounds in those 8 days.  I totally want to do it again....it's just really really hard to do if you have a very physically or mentally taxing job.  I was able to do it during a buyout at a previous company I worked for.  I had nothing to do....so no need to think super clearly.
Be careful about your blood pressure when fasting that long....standing up too fast could be very bad for you.  Forget exercise.  Watch your electrolytes.  And be mindful of re-feeding syndrome.  It could be deadly.  When breaking a prolonged fast, you better know how to do it the right way.
I really want to do it again and I'm sure you'll want to know how it goes when I finally get to do it.  And I could use the encouragement to actually go through with it...

There are no new benefits.  But you continue to have the "max" benefits from that point in time.

Some swear by it. I've done a few 24 hour fasts and one 40 hour fast. I'm sorta interested in doing it again, but at the same time, I like food, lol.
I believe I recall reading that fasting over 72 or 96 hours doesn't benefit you any more.
People will do this to speed up autophagy. But, autophagy actually is happening all the time. You can just give it a significant boost by fasting or lowering your caloric intake.

    Thanks for the reply.
Just thought I would throw it out there. I like adding any personal insights of others. Mostly because at the end of your post you didn't say, "Supply is limited, act now. But....if you order within the next fifteen minutes we will throw in another absolutely free". I always wonder how supply is limited but we have enough to give it away.
But since science just figured out how to match the number of hotdogs in one package and enough rolls in another I should not stretch the community with more to ponder.

Again, I didn't read any of the instructions. LOL
I have somewhat adjusted to the carnivore diet (and hopefully this time next year it will be a lifestyle) and have found I am not hungry eating once per day. I just did a 48 hour fast and did not have any hunger or craving issues at all. I drank only water with a cheap store brand mixer (no sugar just a tad of sodium). I think I could have done another 12, maybe 24. I felt good and energetic on nightshift all thru the 48 hours. Weird as there has been a lot of days I was eating something every 48 minutes much less 48 hours.
I am thinking the water, or the drinking curbs a lot of hunger/craving issues. And then I imagine at times there is some will power involved to get it done and then at the same time maybe the end goal focus helps.
Reading the instructions is starting to become both interesting and exciting.

Yes, I would add a little salt. It was the Swanson (?) broth that comes in a cardboard jug that you just open and pour out.
Yes, I've read about him. He didn't eat a thing for over a year, but was given vitamins and minerals during that time, which makes sense.

One scoop of unflavored Re-lyte in hot water. Black coffee/decaf or plain tea. "Clean fasting" is easier. Cephalic phase insulin response can drop your blood sugar and make you feel ravenous.

Did you spice it up with salt and/or pepper?  I might have even put some cajun spices in mine....I don't remember.  That was back in 2017.  👀
2 hours technically isn't long.  But I just needed it to get through the work day.

Did you ever read about the guy who fasted for 383 days (give or take a few days)?  He was like 500 pounds.  And it was a doctor-supervised fast, of course.  But that was an amazing & encouraging experience!

I would drink tea also. This would help me get deal with the hunger. Broth would help but it wore off quickly and my tummy would growl at me, lol.
What's neat is you get past the point of hunger, and then you don't feel hungry anymore. You can go on and on and on and never feel the urge to eat. That's cool, imo.

Drinking lots of water has been helpful to me as well. I like to stick to the agreement that not eating when I am fasting and taking water helps to keep me going no matter the temptations that come with having food around me.

You have to eat/drink a certain amount of calories to "break" a fast.  I think it was 70.  Don't quote me...
That being the case, when I did my 8-day fast, I "cheated" with some chicken broth & salt.  It would satisfy me for a couple of hours before I would need either more or some tea.
Once you make it to day 3, fasting becomes super easy.  It's just getting there that's the hard part.  And too much water can flush out too much electrolytes.  So the chicken broth & salt helps with that.  Sometimes I would even spice it up with black pepper.  They also make electrolyte drops to enhance your water during your fast.  I didn't try or have that with my 8-day fast.  But I'll be getting that for my next one....whenever I decide to hunker down & do it.

First off, I’m not dieting. I’m eating carnivore which for me is a lifestyle.
I eat when I get hungry and only when I get hungry and that usually only happens once a day. The times vary though. Being fully fat adapted there just isn’t any hunger in between meals.
So eating ONAD, I’m intermittently fasting but I just finished my first 48 hour fast. I got hungry enough several times to the point that I felt like quitting but I’m pretty resilient. I’m able to push through adversity to reach my goal so what I did was drink some ice water and then found something to occupy my mind. You just have to set your priorities and choose not to waver.

Well with a keto or carnivore diet, there really isn't any 'not eating when you are not supposed to. As a general rule of thumb, you want to eat 2 or 3 meals a day without snacking in-between. But if you're truly hungry, then eat. If you are eating nutrient dense foods like you should, then you will notice that you are just not as hungry as often as you used to be when you ate the standard American/Western junk diet. Your urges and cravings to have something in your mouth will become far less frequent. Eating nutrient dense foods almost naturally leads to fasting.
    Fasting
Now if you are intentionally fasting this can be a different story. For example, I do one extended fast per week from Friday dinner to Saturday dinner (minimum). I do get hungry throughout the day on Saturday, but drinking tea, water, etc can help with this. I usually find things to distract myself too. But hunger pangs are temporary, and if you don't respond to them, they actually go away. That's why once people get past the 18-24 mark they find that they can easily keep going for 2-5 days straight without eating.
