All good reasons to come back Miranda. Welcome back.
One of the best things you can do for yourself is to adopt the mindset that this is not a diet but a lifestyle. Diets never last and always fail but a lifestyle is forever. You are choosing to be a carnivore so be a carnivore. You no longer eat those things of the past. You now eat for nutrition and not entertainment.
You’ve got this girl. Success is up to you but we are here to support you all we can.

It’s important that we do that. It increases our knowledge and since we are all individuals what works for one person may not work for another.

My son introduced me to carnivore after my fourth AFib attack landed me in the ICU. I was tired of living with a heart condition, Crohn’s disease, IBS and wracked with pain all of the time. I didn’t know that carnivore would fix all of those things but I just knew that something in my life needed to change.
It’s been an amazing journey so far.

I know I'm late to the party and this may not be relevant any longer, but Dr Sean O'Mara has a video explaining how to assess the visceral fat without an MRI. You lay on your back on the floor, if your belly stays in place it's visceral, but if it caved in and falls of to the side it's subcutaneous. There are benefits to having a healthy layer of subcutaneous. He speaks to that in other videos. Hope all is well. How about an update?

I don't think I ever posted one of these in the first place so here goes
I am 51 and have been trying to be healthy most of my adult life. I have been overweight or obese that entire time 5'8" 200-215#.
I have tried atkins in the early 2000's, food tracking, juice fasting, HIIT, whole thirty, and whole food plant based, and finally omad. The fasting helped me to break through to a new weight loss plateau. All of the previous methods lost and regained the same 15#. I was finally down to 185 ish. I watched a lot of carnivore content before trying it full time February of 24.
I don't have any local support for fasting, but the attitude has softened a bit about the carnivore. My family wants to loose weight, but they won't give up carbs %100. I have gotten them to be low carb most days, but they still want pancakes on Sundays.
This past fall, probably around Thanksgiving, I don't remember the particulars, I just threw in the towel. I know I weighed 178 the morning of my colonoscopy in late October.
I guess I was feeling afraid of being orthorexic. I was also overwhelmed with being a short order cook trying to accommodate everyone's tastes
So found my self stepping on the scale to the tune of 205# sometime around Easter.
Two days later I decided to "Stop the insanity" as Susan powder used to scream from the boob tube in the 80s.
    Today I weigh 194#
My why is that I want to grow old without being trapped in the malady maintenance system. I watched my grandma and my MIL linger in a confused state for over a decade. I don't want any part of that. I want to be useful and connected right to the end. Not sitting or laying in my own mess waiting to die.
I also want to be optimized.
I feel like the only way to get people to get on board is to fully succeed. I can't win anyone over if I am constantly jumping ship.
So every moment I can get, I listen to testimonials. I learned about this forum, by watching @Geezy tell his story on YouTube.
I don't have any major illnesses, I've never had boils, T2D or high blood pressure. I have never been diagnosed with IBS but Im sure I had it whenever I ate seed oils.
I am feeling a bit frustrated in my body as I approach menopause, but I don't think there is anything my doctor can do about that. I don't accept this as the new normal, when I know there is work that I could be doing to correct course.
I plan to hit an ideal weight not for vanity, but that I can be a poster child worthy of the title carnivore!
    Happy Mother's Day everyone!

Good luck with your child's nutrition. I was a very fat human my entire life from baby onwards. I've tried Many crazy ways of getting nutrition over all these years and It took me until age 60 to find this proper human diet of fatty meat and eggs. I'm never going back to a SAD diet as long as I have anything to say about it. I weigh less now than I did in middle school. Hopefully he can adjust to the texture and or taste issues while he is still young. I'm sure peer pressure has to affect his attitude also.

He is going to be 10 this summer.
Praying for him to come around. He only likes bacon reliably. I have been feeding him taco bowls with refried beans and sour cream. He will only eat eggs on hash or if they are wrapped in a tortilla. I am going to try to make some cloud buns this week because he loves hamburgers. Won't eat plain ground beef though. He was a big chubby baby and hasn't grown out of it despite being a light eater. We don't have a lot of Ultra processed food other than the above mentioned bread and tortillas.

I figured it would be at least $2 a pound which is the local piggly wiggly price near me. When she came out with a big bag of frozen chunks, I said "what is the price on that?", she said let me weigh it and then said $6, I kind of laughed and said NO problem! I'll take it! Now I got tallow for a while and a great source for more when needed. I'm going to contact her in a few weeks about some fresh cut ribeyes and see how that goes.

I woke up today (which is always a good thing 🤣) and had kind of a dead "MS" right leg from a little too much walking yesterday, so this day will be a little slower paced than normal. That weed wacking may just have to wait one more day! 😀
After watching a few "Emma Voysey Health" vids on YouTube I started today off with some frontloading of three fried eggs and a few breakfast sausages cooked in fresh tallow. I also consumed about a 1/4 cup of L-Reuteri yogurt.
I don't usually consume a morning meal, just a few cups of coffee usually covers it for me. A few of the vids I watched discussed front loading a little more protein than normal for more energy production. I'll see how this goes and maybe makes some adjustments to my plan. I do not track anything as far as fat, calories or protein. pretty much just keep my carbs as low as possible.
I like Emma's style and presentation on the video productions that she makes.
I always enjoy finding new influencers for carnivore and seeing their methods and maybe trying out new ways to go. That is how I found this group after seeing Geezy on Dave Mac's channel.
    Best health to us all!

Yes. It happened to me back in the 90’s when I did Adkins. My wife was 100% against me doing that diet. She was brainwashed like we all were but Dr. Adkins book just made so much sense to me that I was determined to try it.  She stayed mad at me for months. But after a year she began to understand.
When I started carnivore back in 23 her mindset was totally different. She knew I did the research and trusted that I knew what I was doing. After a year and a half as a carnivore lodge is a firm believer and supports me 100% but she doesn’t do it with me. She will be meat centric but if she wants to eat a bag of Cheetos with her wine then she’s going to do it. Oh well, not much you can do about it. We have grandkids so when they come over there’s going to be all kinds of snacks and foods that I will never touch. When we have a bbq or a dinner party there’s going to be lots of food that I won’t eat.
When we go on a trip or eat out it can be a challenge to eat properly but I manage to get it done.
You see, even if your wife isn’t carnivore it doesn’t mean you won’t face challenges. They are always going to be there.
From the beginning of my carnivore journey there has been cokes in the pantry, bread or tortillas on the counter, fruit in the crisper, candy in the gum ball machine and ice cream in the freezer. There was then and there is now. I have never cheated in the last 670 days.
    My advice?
Check your why. Why are you doing this? What’s the most important thing to you? A fleeting moment of taste on the tongue or having good heath and feeling great for the rest of your life?
I just made my choice and that’s why I’ve succeeded. I’ve even had people try and talk me into cheating “just this one time, it won’t hurt”.
I am motivated to succeed. I refuse to fail. Once I start something I cannot be stopped. I am a carnivore warrior.
Stay motivated by immersing yourself into the carnivore lifestyle and community. Watch videos from carnivore doctors and influencers. Listening to podcasts about carnivore. Pay attention to the success stories. Read books from those in the carnivore community. Continuously educating yourself on the ins and out of this lifestyle. Treat this as a lifestyle and not a diet.
It all boils down to YOU and no one else. This is your journey, your path to travel alone. We can give you support but it’s still your quest.
    So what is your why?

Ain’t nothing wrong with making your own pork rinds or cracklins. If fact it is better in my opinion because you know for sure what you are getting.
I make my own bacon and sometimes I’ll buy a whole pork belly slab with the skin still attached. I’ll trim that skin off and make my own cracklins. Good stuff.

It is interesting to read the WHY's and HOW's when it comes to carnivore.
My son also introduced it to me, but I only seen it as a logical means of weight loss. The health benefits were more of a shocker.
Thus far it has had a pretty good 'bonus plan' on top of the weight loss.

The word polyproline jumped right out to me.
We use polyproline glycol in the jackets of our tanks to cool them down and there are many forms of polyproline anti-freezes out there as well.
Kinda makes you want to go back to clay pots.

    Agreed.
I came to carnivore with zero health expectations other than losing weight and maybe the benefits from losing weight. I went from 'having no idea' to life changing results out of the blue. Talking about a pleasant surprise.
When someone seems genuinely interested my spiel starts off with, "If you had told me this same story 12 months ago, I would be thinking you are full of it". Then lead into what it did for me in relative short order. I also direct them to the influencers and videos.
Most continue on their path and in turn, I continue on mine.

I worked at Taco Bell when I was a young lad, and even afterwards could still eat there with a clean conscience. The beans however were kind of gross. They would come dehydrated and looked like dog kibble. You would add scalding hot water to rehydrate them and then add a giant scoop of solid fat into the mix and let it melt and stir it in. The fat looked like lard but it was either Crisco or corn shortening. Seed oil covered crushed seeds is basically what it is.

Exactly. We all experience this. I came to carnivore in desperation. I was tired of dying and was ready to start living.
It’s a hard reality when we find that others don’t share our same enthusiasm. Fortunately we have our carnivore communities of like minded people.

Absolutely. When I first started it was on a 30 day trial basis. I really didn’t have any great expectations but it was almost overwhelming and uplifting the longer I continued. After 90 days I knew I would be a carnivore for life.
