Geezy got a reaction from Bob in Why are so many quitting Carnivore?
This is true because many start something from an emotional response without any real foundation of commitment.
I believe the response would be exactly what they did with Adkins and Keto when it became popular and that was to start introducing processed foods that were labeled Atkins and Keto when in reality they were nothing of the sort. I know I got caught by that lie with Adkins.

As Bob said, yes but the body only produces what it needs to function under normal circumstances. Certain parts of the body needs glucose for proper function such as the brain but when it comes to something like needing a quick burst it may fall short.

@ketomonster I believe you are correct.. I know that I need more rest and recovery however I have so much energy and I am truly enjoying the gym now it’s very difficult for me to take that rest time! Ha

@Scott F. Thanks for the information Scott. I am also that weirdo at the gym at 4:30 AM! The correlation between milk and weight loss makes perfect sense, I will keep that in mind. I have quit so many unhealthy things in the last 3 months, the nicotine and caffeine seem nearly impossible to stop, but I feel so incredible on carnivore I know it is possible. Also, I agree with your sentiment about the pizza and extra sleep.. I truly feel like my body actually just needed to sleep longer to help get rid of all those carbs and seed oils.

Without the nicotine and caffeine your six hours may increase, maybe not a full 1.5 to 2 hours you are looking for, but I would guess it would be an increase.
Our sleep is nearly identical. I am a lifelong shift worker. I always have slept from around 9 to around 3AM when sleeping at night. If I am sleeping the daytime (which I sleep better during the day) I sleep from 9AM til about 4PM.
The difference for on carnivore is that when I wake, I am up. There is no rolling over and going back to sleep. Even my days off start about 4AM. I am one of those "weirdos" in the gym at 4:30AM.
My sleep is solid and I awake feeling well rested. I am probably in that 6-hour range as well.
As far as the pizza and the nine hours, that is well beyond me. Other than the stomach yelling at the brain saying, "I'm going to be here awhile with this extra stuff-keep him down for a couple extra hours".
I too drink milk. I don't drink a gallon a day and don't drink it every day but three to four times per week. When I was losing weight (95lbs over 12-13 months or so) anytime I drank milk it was like an automatic stall. One glass of milk seemed to stop my weight loss in its tracks. Once I started hovering around 95lbs lost I picked back up on the milk.
Good luck. Hopefully you can find those other two hours of sleep.
    Scott

Thank you Geezy for the response. I will continue to monitor my sleep as I slowly taper down the coffee and nicotine and report back. I appreciate your insight!

Geezy reacted to pauls in The new Libre 2 & 3 Plus CGM issues
On September 30th, the old 2 and 3 CGM sensors were discontinued. Replaced by the 2 Plus and 3 Plus sensors.
If you or a loved one uses these sensors this will be informative. There is a problem with both. These sensors last 15 days now. And there is a new phone app. The app is called Libre, ot Libre by abbott.
I use c the 2 plus most Insurance plans prefer the Liber over Dexcom for cost considerations.
Enough background. The Libre sensors read your Blood Glucose Level (BGL) every minute and via blue tooth send it to your app on your phone. The sensor is worn on the back of either upper arm. Once on your arm it takes 1 hour to "warm up" before sending readings. Readings can be somewhat erratic for up to 48 hours. The sane was true for the older 2 & 3 models. But, now it continues for the sensor life of 15 days. For me my readings look 'normal' for 3 to 5 hours then I am doing nicely at 110 in 3 to 5 minutes I am at 52 , then 6 to 8 minutes later I am 154. 5 to 10 minutes later I back steady at 110. Nothing a diabetic wants to see or deal with. So I have confirmed the 110 reading with a finger stick.
Abbott, the company making the Libre is aware of this issue. They say there are 2 teams working on the issue. I wish them success ASAP.
I deal with this with a few finger sticks. And never make a hasty decision about my treatment,,, like what ineed to eat, insulin type and how much.
My old Libre 2 sensors that i uesd for a few years were pretty reliable. In fact the 90 day BGL report was a good prediction of my A1c.

    Be well, pray for Abbott.

I use the Libre2 Plus. Someone gave me the reader and some sensors that her husband didn't use any more and I loved it. As much as one can love a device like that. I'm kind of a gadget/data nerd.
Eventually I persuaded my doctor's office to write me a prescription for the sensors. At first they were hesitant, like they thought I was going to sell them out of the trunk of my car to children on playgrounds or something. I pay for them myself. Medicare doesn't consider me "diabetic enough" to cover the cost. Whatever. I think each sensor is about $80. As you said, they now last for 15 days (just one day more than the old ones, so what's the big deal).
Since I've been ultra-low-carb/carnivore, the low glucose alarm has gone off twice! The first time I didn't know what the sound was, because I'd never heard it before. You know how it is, you hear a beeping and you look around-- phone? air fryer? clock? is it someone on TV? Then I saw it was the Libre2 reader. (I use the reader, not my phone--my phone already has so much cr@p on it!) My FBG was 79! It hasn't been that low in 30+ years. And then again this evening it went off-- BG of 70. I had a salmon filet for lunch and about a dozen sweet potato fries. Nothing else.
I endorse the use of a CGM. It really keeps you on top of what your BG is doing. Very important.

A day in range, that 61 was a 70 on a finger stick. This from my Libre CGM. No fast acting insulin today, just long acting insulin. Onward Carnivore lifestyle.

If your pancreas is not making enough (or any) insulin, is a pancreas transplant in the cards for you? (I almost wrote, "in the carbs for you" 😄.)
My late husband (died 25 yrs ago) was a type 1 diabetic for decades before quick and easy glucometers were available, let alone CGMs. He had a kidney transplant in 1992, but of course, was still insulin dependent. Pancreas transplants were just beginning to be talked about. He did get an insulin pump, but it was probably pretty primitive compared to today's. I haven't kept up with medical news about that.

    Welcome to Carnivore Talk.
Many carnivores, including myself, report sleeping less. It’s not a bad thing if you are not experiencing any ill effects.
Calories are not a good metric by which to measure our food consumption since it is just a measurement of heat. We can’t actually eat a calorie but we can eat mass. Even if calories are used it’s not the calorie that matters but what your body does with the calorie. For instance, 3,000 calories from a doughnut will process in our bodies totally different from how 3,000 calories from a steak.
While it’s generally considered ok to drink milk and consume dairy on carnivore just remember that dairy contains a lot of sugar in the form of lactose. If your body is handling it ok then it shouldn’t be a problem. As active as you are it may be just fine. I eat cheese and use some cream but I don’t drink milk. If I did it would put weight on me which is exactly what it was designed to do.
Yes, the coffee and nicotine could be what’s interfering with your sleep. They are stimulants and are not good for you. If you could quit them that would definitely be a positive for you but from your description of your sleep and how you feel it really doesn’t seem to be an issue. I tend to go by how I’m feeling and if I’m feeling good then I don’t think anything needs to change. It sounds to me like you are doing pretty good.

I'm the guiltiest but carnivore is automatically associated with weight loss and tons of people (like me) see it as another weight loss hack.
If the lead off was the health benefits that come from carnivore and not just health benefits from just losing weight, but carnivore itself, it would move even faster into the mainstream.
I still find myself leading off with "I'm on carnivore and lost........" when I should be talking about "I'm on carnivore and I have not taken medicine for NMO/SD for pain and inflammation since June of 24. My blood sugar is around 80 every day and my energy levels are constant throughout the day even as the work load increases, the ability to continue remains".
But, it is the weight loss that rings the loudest.

I'm as cheap as all get out.
Last week I was pouting like someone stole my puppy as I was checking out prices at my local market. Then mumbling/complaining to myself the whole time I was filling my basket. Then complained all the way home and the only thing that offset the complaints was the amazing ribeye that came off the grill.
    The repeat. LOL
I can remember watching the weather for rain and every day it didn't rain was one more bale we had to buy the following winter. (or thereabouts) A pasture with good grass is worth its weight in gold.
I know Yellowstone was way over the top but I remember Kevin Costner saying 'we can only hope to break even so we can do it again next year' (in so many words). That's how we were for a lot of years. We would get three or four 'extras' and selling them bridged a lot of financial gaps. Most of the time the ones sold was as much we didn't have to feed them thru the winter as it was the price of the sale.
Great post. I hadn't thought like this in a very long time. Sometimes I miss it.

Wow! 11 pounds in one week? That’s wild. Generally 2 to 3 pounds is a good average.
Congratulations on beating those cravings just don’t let that peanut butter bring them back.
Eating until satiation is different for everyone but the standard thought is to eat until the food isn’t tasting good anymore. Eating plenty of fat is the key to satiation. I’ve found it hard to over eat as a carnivore. As long as I’m eating enough fat.
    Congratulations on doing so well.
