  1. Cooking down some tallow today. We finally go over to the meat market that I just discovered near me and she had Suet for $1 a pound. Nice place and we will be going back soon. We also grabbed some cranberry brats and some Wisconsin apple pie brats. Both of those are very good quality. She also has a gummy bear brat which I told my wife we will need to try those, Even though they have a little more sugar in them. Not much on hand for fresh cut meat but that sounds like it is a call ahead kind of thing.
  2. Spam Shelf Life Details: Unopened: Hormel states that Spam can last "indefinitely" if stored properly in a cool, dark, dry place, away from freezing temperatures, and off the floor. However, the flavor and quality may degrade after 5 years. Opened: Once opened, Spam should be refrigerated and consumed within 3 to 4 days for optimal quality and safety. Now we know 😄
  3. I feel that - "no one really cares about their health until it's too late" and then they will try anything to resolve it. Fortunately for most carnivores it can be turned around. When I first started out, It worked so well I was telling everyone about it ands QUICKLY found that NO ONE wanted to hear it, so "screw'em" is my route I go now. It is my secret answer to life. If someone asks and I can sense that they are truly interested in changing their life then I will suggest a few influencers videos to them and see how it goes from there. It's not my job to save the world! My wife and I now like to glance at other people's shopping carts when we go food shopping just to see the poor choices being made.
  4. Only you will know how your system will respond to an extended fast. For my system fasting has been really powerful and enlightening as to how energetic and clear-headed I become. You may respond differently, so only you will know for sure. Dr Berry posted a video a while back of a guy who ran 5 marathons in 5 days supposedly in a fasted state! I believe it! Once I was adjusted to long fasts my hunger signals just disappears after around the 12 hour mark and then I just go until "it's time to eat again". Your body will let you know for sure. For me that time has been a short as 27 hours and as long as 96 hours. I do long bike rides in a fasted state.
  5. I've proven to myself several times already that I feel the best brainwise during days two and three of a three day fast. It is from all the ketones flowing, I would guess. Overall energy shows increase also not not as strong as the brain energy. It's really a great feeling
  6. I had 3 or 4 rough weeks when first starting out, but I jumped in cold turkey style. My wife went in slowly and had no issues at all. That was 4 years ago and it is so worth it in the end. Keep going, you can do it!
  7. It currently in its stall period, 165' headed towards 203'
  8. I wonder what's for lunch? Spoiler alert = Brisket
  9. Spam has such a bad reputation and I do not understand why? It's just like hot dogs. So many people think they are junk foods when they are actually a very good source of nutrition and usually quite affordable. If you can afford a better choice then definitely go that route, but in the end you won't be able to chart the difference between consuming spam/hot dogs VS ribeyes.
  10. I got lucky because my wife joined me with carnivore just a few months after I started. I do most of the cooking and that surely helps with food prep. If she wants something that's "Not on the menu" that day then she makes her own thing and all is cool. How old is your child, if I may ask?
  11. We can't raise any "meat" where we live due to zoning and if you want chickens for eggs there is a limit of 4 and it's a yearly license of $50! I'll just stick with Wally World or Aldi for eggs.
  12. If it's the original insta pot with the non adjustable yogurt setting it will probably be too warm for Reuteri. Mine runs too warm. The newer 7in1 units have an adjustable temp setting for yogurt and reports online said they work great for Reuteri and other varieties in the 100'f range.
  13. I consider Spam to be the "Meat of kings, that can be enjoyed by All". I eat Spam whenever I want to and really like the taste and texture. The few little traces of non meat ingredients do NOT bother me at all. Several different flavor varieties available also. Aldi sells their own house version of Spam which is pretty good also. Fried in a pan or smoked on the grill or even raw if you must, I find them all to be great. My wife is not a fan 🤣
  14. You are in Cattle country for sure. I would assume a lot of great BBQ places also?
  15. I treated myself and bought one of the "ultimate yogurt makers" on Amazon, Just due to convenience of use. It works well for L-Rueteri at 100'F but you need to set it for 97'F or else it may overrun and kill your starter. The first batch was coconut milk based and the 2nd batch is based on Half & Half creamer. The half and half version of L-Reuteri is Delish!. Now let's see if it does my body any good. I figure it can't hurt. If you can accurately hold 95-100'F for 36 hours and not go over 105'F or thereabouts then you can make L-Rueteri. If it goes over 110'F then it's dead.
  16. Just go back about 200 years or so and the term "Doctor" really was just a slightly more educated person than you were at the time. Now go back 1000 years and there is virtually no difference in education. I'm thinking Witchdoctors and things like that. now go back 10,000 years when we were all the same as far as life education goes. NO doctors and everyone survived quite well with very little disease just by eating mostly meat. Modern doctors are useless for improving anyone's health using nutrition. They will gladly throw a boatload of chemicals at you though! When I told my Nuero that I was stopping my MS drug she was okay with that but she did ask if I thought anymore about trying Ampyra which is supposed to improve walking ability. I said No Thanks, I'm good to go! I'll use daily bovine consumption instead.
  17. My mom Worked for many years at a local diner and also had a few scary stories about food prep and that was back in the 70's when people were good and still dependable. I would NEVER trust a modern younger person to prepare my food under any circumstance. Most of them can't even cook their own food, much less somebody else's who they don't even care about. My first food service job was as a dishwasher at our local country club. We served all the elite members of our society and if they knew what they were sometimes eating, I'm not sure how that would have turned out. Most of them were liquor'd up (with a Monthly bar bill minimum) before they ate so it they probably had no concerns anyways 😂. Several times after a state health inspection I got the job of taking a putty knife and scraping the floor of the walk-in cooler. You would be surprised what you can scrape up from where your raw food is stored! Funny side story - That same kitchen had a microwave with the safety shield in the front door that was always falling out! It was placed just about testicle level and whenever they used it, I would leave the area. I said something to the food service manager and I was told to "not worry about that"
  18. Is anyone else experimenting with homemade Reuteri (and other probiotics) Yogurt for their health? I dabbled in it a few years ago and never really got it fermented properly. This time around I'm making it properly and it is really tasty as far as Yogurt goes. Dr. Bill Davis has a great book out called "Super Gut" which covers all the details about the process of making and using it. My hope is to see improvements in my MS and spondylitis, along with whatever else it can do. Wish me luck.
  19. That is one of my main reasons along with the astronomical prices that my wife and I RARELY eat away from home any longer. I've also worked in kitchens and know what happens "behind the scenes" sometimes. I would like to be the only person handling MY food before I eat it! Some places are better than most , but they all got an issue somewhere in the chain of preparing my meal.
  20. We've been getting most of our beef from local places like Walmart or Meijer when it is on short sale discount. That is a hit or miss kind of deal but it sure beats their regular price for meat. Picked up 2 half briskets yesterday @ Meijer for $3 a pound. Those will go on the smoker Thursday morning about 5am. They had a few hot dogs and brats which I grabbed up also. No more room left in our freezer, Which is great as a carnivore 😄. Eat up Boy's and girl's!
  21. I have been taking Copaxone for my MS for several years and just last week told my Neurologist to NOT refill the yearly scrip for it. She had no problem with me making that decision and just suggested I taper off the remaining doses I have left. You can just quit Copaxone "cold turkey" because it's not a biologic or hard core therapy but she suggested it as being the best for my body. Copaxone is only effective in about 30% of MS cases and after age 65-70 it's not very effective for most of the people that use it. I had never felt any different or noticed any effect from using it, and it costs over $25,000 a year! Great deal, eh! 😂. I'll turn that $25K into meat and be much happier for it! The medical and drug business is not curing people. They just keep their customer base alive to generate income. Do your own research and be your own doctor for most things, anyways. When I broke my femur, well there I needed lots of help from several doctors 🤣
  22. I do most of our cooking so my wife follows along with what I'm having around 95% of the time. Sometimes she'll just whip up a chaffle and do her own thing, which is great for me because I will then sometimes just fast for the day or go a completely go a different direction (pan fried Spam and eggs is one example). Once you understand your body and how it responds on carnivore you then make your own modifications and get on with life. No veg for either one of us, a few oranges or strawberries we do eat yet but not everyday and usually only in season. For myself a Lion diet is still probably the best way of living.
  23. I feel my best when I do several days in a row of Beef, Salt and water. I should eat that way, everyday. I'm not even sure why I don't 😄
  24. We were at a cookout last week and had the brats and hotdogs from this place. They were very good. We will be checking out their store next week. It's only a few towns away (20 miles) and I never knew it even existed. Sounds like it's been there for years. Go figure, Ey.
  25. I'm 64 and of Germanic heritage from both parents, plus my father grew up during the great depression SO I am CHEAP and Frugal 😆. I learned it from the best! A great day for me is seeing a bunch of yellow tags in the walmart meat area. Unfortunately I don't see them often enough but the freezer is full So I'm not complaining. just got a package of stew meat yesterday for 60% off and turned that into a stir fry for lunch today.
