  1. I have my coffee. We need that one vice. Makes no sense to worry about it. Carnivore is restrictive enough. Think of all the junk you're not eating. I do limit my intake no more than 3 cups. And I think that's well within the range of health guidelines.
  2. Yes, the two different perspectives of the two doctors do not contradict one another. I think 80 percent meat, 10 percent egg or dairy, and 10%: eat a carrot, or a stem of broccoli, half an apple, some garlic, etc as they are really good foods. Unless of course we're dealing with auto immune response, or unless we're attempting to roll back that insulin resistance; that would be for each of us, specific. I do still use myfitnesspal as it gives me a lot of insight. Not only for my eight, but also my macros.
  3. Exactly a month into carnivore diet. Went from 148lbs to 142lbs. Leaned out a bit. Learned so much about my habits and processed foods and life without them. I will continue this another month, though I like the idea of dirty carnivore/ketovore/paleovore. But for now I'll add another 30 days of carnivore and see where I land. Have a good 2024.
  4. It's alright if you're goals continuously change so long they are in the same direction. And as long we don't sell ourselves short.
  5. You won't know until you get there. You never know what you're capable of when you get there. 10 pounds lighter already makes you a different person. Having a weight-loss goal is not a burden, it's a challenge, and an opportunity. Imagine being 185. But somehow you are 205, wouldn't that still be wonderful?
  6. I hear a lot of people mentioning their high school weight. At that age we also had healthy muscle development, and it's likely that we had still a quite active life and somewhat normal diet. I often mention muscle, but it's aan absolute must to keep training muscles with weights. They control your blood sugar, they help retain bone density, impacts sleep quality, improve mood, increase mobility, etc. If one eats for health one must also act for health. Losing weight is just a minor consequence of going to the gym, it's all those invisible things that help a diet such as keto or carnivore. I say this as somebody who once walked with a cane. Take care of your muscles and thus your bones, especially after 40. I cannot stress this enough. It's been a life long battle for me, since I have Ankylosing Spondylitis, a quite debilitating form of Arthritis. I am in the good shape that I am by 30 years of experimenting and being health focused, I had no other choice. I have been on so many different diets, etc. It's why I am so impressed with carnivore. I do not come form an unhealthy lifestyle, always disciplined, and on healthy weight. Even then, I am also approaching my army weight.
  7. High school weight is in most cases an excellent place to be. As we mostly gain the weight after high school.
  8. Wrap the ground beef with bacon.
  9. While you don't have to worry about counting calories in general. Calories in, calories out is still of importance. It depends if you exercise or not. On a meat diet you are more satiated and are likely to consume less calories. But this is not always the case, and especially when you're inactive, that may become an issue. If you reached a plateau, or even a setback, it's time to use an app like Myfitnesspal to see what calories you take in. Do this for a week or two, and you'll find the issue. If you eat more calories than you burn, you will STILL add weight. And no, exercise is not optimal to lose weight, it's there so your heart keeps happy, and you like what you see when you lost that weight. Another thing is, at a later age we lose muscle mass, that is not good for health, we are always working on keeping our muscles for joint function, stability, and they are great fat burners. But at the end of the day, it's what and how we eat, that is going to make us lose pounds. Don't use the scale as a stresser, or as a perfection tool either, use it as data, and put in that data in Myfitnesspal (which is free and my fav cause you see fat intake, etc as well). Again exercise gives you an advantage with weight-loss, but is a small percentage. You cant outrun a bad diet. A chocolate cookie equates to 20 minutes of running. COunt your calories and make your calories count. DO that for 2 weeks and you will learn how you respond to food (hormonally, inflammatory, etc).
  10. Those "Deutsche" know how to make a sausage.
  11. I will probably have 2 shots of vodka a month, once a month. If you drink a low amount like that, and you keep it pure (no mixing), you'll remain in keto. I find it actually relaxing, within these limits, without having to pay the price later.
  12. It also impedes muscle building, aka protein synthesis. Especially after 40, it's VERY important to continuously build muscle. In fact a night on the town getting drunk may undo your work in the gym by almost 25%. Alcohol is also a diuretic, the dehydration will interfere with a next visit to the gym. It's very disruptive.
  13. I'll check out these books on Spotify. Especially Kicking Ass After 50. That is around the corner.
  14. I couldn't think of a better new years resolution. The only regret you'll have is that you waited so long. I was crazy enough to start my journey during the holidays.
  15. Yes, it's boring to track. I mostly do it for about 30 to 45 days straight, and then I know enough to go from there. But I absolutely believe that anybody can achieve their ideal weight on this diet, or at least close to it. Especially when we not only track our calories, but our macros on top of that.
  16. They lost me at "melting" fat. This is rhetorical at best. We don't look for short cuts, we look at permanent lifestyle choices that fits you the best. Even if it means adding some fruits or vegetables to your carnivore diet. It's just that carnivore is an excellent reset/restart of how your body processes food.
  17. Sorry for the rant and off topic.
  18. I would also like to stress the importance of lifting heavy and slow. Diet will lose the weight, the muscles will keep it up, great calorie burners. Not to mention bone density, functionality into older age, and stability/posture. These things get overlooked sometimes. We can approach a healthy lifestyle from different angles.
  19. I have tracked my calories without stressing about overeating. Just to see on how much calories I would feel satiated and comfortable. I also did not grow up with a highly toxic and fattening American standard diet. So for me I gather, it was easier to go back to baseline. I also did already eat pretty disciplined, some 6 years prior to this paradigm shift. So from already a superb fat percentage, I went even leaner, and feel lighter. Losing 5 pounds in 26 days with low bodyfat (15%) is so much harder than losing the same when overweight. It's the reason why I am so impressed, and I advise strongly to use Myfitnesspal or any other free app to at least track. Body weight is the first and foremost marker for heart disease and other ailments, even sleep apnea, skin condition, etc. I would've had the same result without the tracking, but it taught, even me, a lot about this new diet. I weight myself each morning, rather in fear of losing too much. So I am an advocate of tracking and weighing in every single morning. But not for the reason one might think, I am not striving for perfection. I just find the experience so much more educational, and in turn motivating.
  20. Bacon wrapped burgers. Powerful food. Now my house smells like a sketchy diner... worth it! Lost 5 pounds over 26 days now. I can count my abs at 48. I woke up painless this morning, 30 years of chronic pain...
  21. Not that they are concerned for you. They of course consider the fact that it cuts in their profit. I would not even try the authentic product, let alone the knock off junk.
  22. I accommodated myself and they allowed me gracefully lol.
