January 2026 "World Carnivore Month" Challenge!
Indeed, there lies the addiction, at least for me it was. The snickers, plus the ding dong, Etc. Every day, year after years. Of course there was bread. Pasta, potatoes, on it goes most all 'comfort' foods are loaded with carbs.

February. Onward
Ok. I got a plan. Exercise is increasing. It is a zero carb life as per usual. Coke Zero is still in the rear view mirror. So in January I used no Rapid Acting insulin abd cut the long acting insulin from 50 units a day to 25 units a day. Looking forward to more positive results in February. Just have to wait and see how it goes. Be well, may u heal. Paulkk

A Current Status Review
02/01/2026. I am currently 69 1/2 years of age. Been improving my health for 55 months. I eat a Ketogenic Diet that is as close as I can get to Zero carbs each day. My last health issue is Diabetes. I was diagnosed T2DM on May 4, 1992. I am allergic to most diabetic drugs. I eat one meal a day (OMAD) . I mostly eat Beef, Bacon, Butter, and Eggs (BBBE). I maintain my Blood Glucose Level at <130 mg/dL. I currently inject 25 units of long acting Lantus Insulin once a day ar the same time every day. For 5 months previous I was using a 50 unit dose. I no longer use any rapid, short term acting insulin. Beginning today I am exercising more. My reduced my Insulin dose from 50bunits per day, after 5 weeks of not drinking Coke Zero. I do not know if there is a relationship there. This is a very recent change. I have no kidney or eye issues from being diabetic. I do have mild to moderate foot neuropathy. And I do have Chronic Venous insufficiency. I wear a Libre 2 Plus Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM). Using its reports, i make decisions on my Insulin dose and how what I eat and how my activity effects my BGL. I will soon do blood work labs to see how much insulin I am producing, certain enzyme analysis, and other tests. Hope to answer if am LADA, often called type 1.5 diabetes. I do supplement with D3/K2, Iodine, and Co-Q-10. I have a 6 month follow up appointment with an Endocrinologist in early April. Paul

January 2026 "World Carnivore Month" Challenge!
Carnivore, just my opinion here. Is not going to be over about 5% of the population. Why.? Human nature and Addiction. You can go off plan, you do not die by eatting one Snickers bar. The lack of that outcome says it all. Is why there are seat belt laws, interlocking systems and the like. The final straw is people do not know or understand cholesterol, insulin, and basic biology. They believe the old repeating messages.

Much more to come is the likely way. This stuff is really being pushed. The advertisements are everywhere. Imo, the result of little or no long term tests.

Insulin, Blood Glucose Levels, CGM's, and Coke Zero
Ok, my BGL continues to drop. So I am lowering my long acting Lantus insulin dose another 10 % this morning. My Blood Glucose Level continues to decrease as I eat Zero Carbs. The only change in my eating in the last 5 full weeks is I no longer drink 3 Coke Zero sodas @ 1/2 L each per day. Yes, I admit, some days it was more than 3. U know the ones, Plastic bottle, 16.9 ounces each as I recall. A long term addiction. I know not how long this trend will continue. I do use a Continuous Glucose Monitor with low Glucose alarms and I have Glucose Tablets on hand if treatment b is needed. So I do not feel i am in any serious danger. Of course, my PCP, various medical professionals, and the ADA will mostly disagree. Thank you all f

Insulin, Blood Glucose Levels, CGM's, and Coke Zero
It is 12:15 AM. This is not fun. The CGM app allows me to shut the alarms off for up to 6 hours. 2 of the 4 average glucose reports are lower. My BGL is 64, a painful finger stick just to be sure. My CGM is at 56 and apears to be stabilizing, no need to treat at the moment. I never thought giving up Coke Zero would cause this. No one warned me of this. I have no carbohydrates in the house. Just orange flavored glucose tablets, like a sugar cube. 4 grams of carbs each. , if I need them. I envision my PCP with a worried look on their face. They thinking how risky the Ketogenic diet is. PCP thinks I should c eat a "healthy " ADA Adiet and control my BGL with insulins. And maintain an A1C between 7 snd 8 %. No, I not doing that, I keeping my toes and legs. As well as my eyessight and kidneys. Sorry to rant on. Ok back to sleep, will see if i have to reduce my next long acting Lantus insulin injection in the morning. Right now looks like another 10 % reduction.

Insulin, Blood Glucose Levels, CGM's, and Coke Zero
I know it looks like i am crazy. Considering my Continueos Glucose Monitor (CGM) data over the last 12 hours I think I better cit my next dose of Lantus Insulin another 10% just to be safe. My average Glucose over the last 12 hours is about 70. BTW, I split dose my Lantus every 12 hours. So I have gone from 2 injections @ 25 units to 2 injections @ 20 units per day. I have never before had to make such a change. What ever happens i will post it on this site.

Insulin, Blood Glucose Levels, CGM's, and Coke Zero
Ok, so been just over a month that I stopped drinking Coke Zero. Now my Blood Glucose Level (BGL) is going down like every day. It has been like 2 weeks since I have used any fast acting insulin. Now today I reduced my long acting, Lantus insulin by 10 % . is probably too early to state i did not cut that dosage deep enough, but it could be the case. I guess it is a wait and see thing. So I beeing careful to keep accurate records of my insulin usage. It will be interesting if this trend continues. I be the first to say. If this turns out to be a big thing. I will be shocked. Every BGL average reporting period is trending down. In simple language, my daily BGL is down 30 mg/dL in 30 days. Other than the consumption of about 2 liters (about) of COKE ZERO a day i made no other changes. Actual consumption was really like 1.5 liters a day, now that ii really think about it. Could be shocking.

January 2026 "World Carnivore Month" Challenge!
Not much choice. Having yo back down my Lantus. Llong acting insulin dose today. BGL was/is a steady 60. I feel fine. I know my body. My PCP would have a troubled worried look on their face. Talked to a man yesterday, older than my 69, he is T2DM, his A1c is 7.4, his doc says it is fine at below 8. He is 85, not acceptable to me. Imo. The doctor is wrong. I guess the medical thinking is he is old. I just glad carnivore is a choice that really helps. Be well

Ok, I sorry
My 7 day BGL average has dropped to 96 mg/dL. I did a finger stick to check my CGM, everything is in range. Not even going to think about it continuing to drop more. But stay tuned.

January 2026 "World Carnivore Month" Challenge!
BGL Is still going down. So right now I am not using any fast acting insulin. My long acting, Lantus insulin dose is constant. Will give it time, if it holds or drops more I will Very slowly dial back the lantus insulin. I an thinking very slow reduction in dose might be best for me, allow body to adapt.
