  3. Thank you. My son is giving it another go. He dropped about 13 pounds in 2+ weeks. We just cooked a bunch of pork chops, a few hamburgers and a big ribeye. We are both loaded up for the start of the work week. Scott
  4. Today is 7 months since I started Carnivore. This morning, I tipped the scales at 223lbs which is 83lbs less than 7 months ago. I have not taken pain medicine nor inflammation medicine since late May/early June. I have Neuromyelitis Spectrum Disorder (basically Multiple Sclerosis but attacks the optic nerves). Other than a couple bouts with some bath room issues, I have only positives. The last month I have bounced around 76-79lbs lost. During that same time I dropped pant size for 40 to 38. Lost inches with pounds basically remaining the same. My weight loss has been erratic yet consistent, if that makes sense. The first thirty pounds came off pretty much a pound a day but from there it has been drops, mini-stalls/stabilize, then drops. I was on 79 a couple different time last week and week before but never actually touching 80. 4lb drop from yesterday til today. No change in diet, actually eating more as of late. At 55 I'm increasing the work in the gym and hoping to build some muscle/off set age related muscle loss as well as knowing it is the best defense against the muscle issues with NMO/SD. 7 months and I have pretty much nothing but positives. So much so, my wife is starting tomorrow. I am hoping this is the biggest positive yet. Scott
  5. I'm close to 7 months. I have lost 79lbs as of this morning. I have an autoimmune issue and I get my blood checked more often. I have never had blood pressure issues and my glucose never got out of the mid-90's and fasting was less than 90. I'm 2:1 on my cholesterol. It is not great but not all that alarming. My cholesterol moved up a little and I was thinking it would drop with the weight loss at the time, maybe 30-40lbs at the time. I started reading (some great comments on here as well). You are now fat adaptive and using fat or energy. In layman's terms instead of the fat laying around in stores it is up and moving. That same fat carries cholesterol so it is more showing in your bloodwork. I have a doctor who is becoming a big fan of carnivore. She said in her limited experience shoe would suggest that it will take a lot more time (at the time three to four months in) than 4-6 months to make huge changes in numbers. I have a blood test this upcoming week so I will see the difference between 3 months and 7 months. Then again in March. I will be able to actually 'trend' the bloodwork. Best of luck as you continue.   6. Congrats on the year mark. I understand the 'thin in the face' point. I have lost a lot of weight and the look thin, some say too thin, although most of them have only known me at 300+. It got so bad the word got out that I was sick again. If I heard, "Are you doing, OK? Need me to do anything? once, I heard it a thousand times. Babbling. Congrats on the one year mark.   7. No doubts. But it was completely accurate. I hadn't really thought of it from that perspective. My 'bell' was 'get in the truck and let's go to Southern Parts". My brain clicked and I immediately hit the ash tray looking for change. Automatic. In reality, most of his conditioning was with 'negative reinforcement'. LOL. Scott

  9. This was sparked by the thread on 'still having cravings'. We have a local parts store that is one of the old school stores where the guy behind the counter has built a small block Chevrolet, changes his own oil and turns his own wrenches, a true mom and pop place. I have been going there since I was a kid with my Pops, so much so, they call me by my Pops name more than they do mine. Old school place of business. There has been a gum ball machine in that place since I was a little boy. I would dig a nickel out of the ash tray every time we went as a kid. When I built my first motor at 18 I used a dime to get a gum ball and never failed to get one on each trip. Recently I started back on my 1950 Chevrolet truck and went to the parts store. Maybe the first time since Carnivore. As I walked in the door I never blinked, popped in a quarter and was already chewing before I thought about 'sugar' and 'cravings' and 'addictions' and anything of the sort. Just simply did what I have been doing for nearly 50 years. I think it tasted good til my brain caught up with my actions and then it didn't taste all that good. I pretty much did the same thing with steak sauce a few months ago. Anyway, a quick funny I guess. I doubt the gum ball will be my gateway drug to a 'sugar-crazed-addiction', or at least I hope not. LOL Muscle memory can come in crazy ways. Scott

  11. Geezy is spot on, he has become my 'go to'. LOL I think the biggest thing is the carnivore diet is about eliminating things from your diet, maybe even moreso, than what you are eating now. I would think you need more than a month of adjustment, most do. I started on May 8th, but I had just bought a 12 pack of Mountain Dew and a tub of ice cream. I could not force myself to toss it out so my first week of Carnivore was far from Carnivore. Maybe I actually started around the 15th or so. I didn't really have any cravings as I had a really high protein and high fat content but I did start off with great hydration nor electrolytes. I didn't read the directions. I think what stopped my cravings was I have never been big on drinking water. I used the flavored packets. They were advertised as Zero Sugar but the artificial flavorings had to have had some sugar. Maybe that weaned me to where I am now just drinking water. Not sure. I would say you are on the right path and maybe you (as an individual need five weeks or six weeks or whatever). Good luck.   14. I'm still high protein/high fat. I can see his point in theory, and I doubt I have the experience nor education to argue the point. What I am rolling with is what I have done thus far and how I feel, especially how I feel. I'm not sure there are words for 'pain free' after being in pain off and on for several years (2018). I'm all for trying something new and listening to others, but gambling with pain is a bit different. The high protein/high fat approach has dropped 78lbs to boot. I can see some logic in his point, but I think/feel I am on a pretty good plan. Scott
  15. I did a couple fasts and for me, hydration and electrolytes were my primary concerns. As far as sardines go, you are tougher than me, I can't swing them myself. I have been the opposite. I am seldom actually hungry. I can't eat near what I was eating seven months ago. Best of luck. Keep us posted. I'm a fan of other people's experiences. (still learning) Scott

  17. Hope all is well. I have a primary who is not opposed to the idea of eating this way but he wishes I would lower the fat content and choose leaner cuts. His opinion and approach has some merit in theory. Per "standards" my cholesterol is high. Eating this way gets me into ketosis and the ketones are running wild. I have (had) plenty of body fat for the body to use as energy. He thinks I should eat a higher fat content when the weight is gone or I have gotten down to a lower body fat percentage. I can see that as a point, we discussed it, and he supports the choices I have made. My Neurologists on the other hand, was genuinely excited to see not only my progress but the means to the progress. I don't do stats or research other medical issues but the carnivore approach is wreaking havoc on the MS community. So much so, Stanford is now doing clinical research. My Neurologist is onboard 100%. She even said as a medical doctor with years and years in the classroom she never took an actual class on nutrition. Her approach is people were eating this way, and using food for "medicine" long before the pill was invented. I'm now giving weekly and bi-weekly updates so she can bank it is as 'knowledge'. I sort of lucked out I guess. Hope all is well/getting better with the surgery. Nice job with the eggs. There are actually tons of ways to eat carnivore and I have settled on 'steak and eggs' being the primo approach (for me anyways). I'm not sure there is a better way to go. LOL Hoping for continued progress. Scott

  21. I have yet to climb up on the pedestal and preach......but it has worked well for me. A buddy of mine's wife has MS and she too is not doing well. I gave the spiel on doing it for a weight loss hack and then stumbled upon things even more amazing. They too acted like I had fallen off the deep end. I'm hard-headed and a nay-sayer at heart but early on in my diagnosis if I had known/heard of others using this diet to benefit a medical condition, I would have crawled right up on the bandwagon. I mean if there any possibility of improving one's health, reversing a life-threatening disease and possibly ditching pills and potions....and all I have to is eat steak and drink water. Even a knot head like me would have given it an honest shot. I found the best benefits purely by accident. Damn near like lottery like so far. (and in some cases, maybe better) Hopefully your friend gets better. I wish him the best as I know the downsides to a MS condition. Thoughts and prayers. Scott
  22. If I knew how to locate and copy/paste memes I would add one that pertains to this on the meme thread. It was a guy who was being lectured by a rather large guy holding a MacDonald's burger with, fries and a coke. The recipient said, "As soon as I said, I'm on the carnivore diet, all I eat is meat, slat and water". From that point everyone becomes a doctor on my poor decisions. In so many words.   23. Thanks. I have another round of bloodwork in a few weeks. Usually about 6 weeks after the infusion. This is the first time that number ever actually moved. So, of course I go to the primary source of medical information on the planet....Google. The first probable cause was a HIGH PROTEIN diet and the only thing that has changed of late is I increased the protein intake for lifting purposes. I didn't think (and still don't think) I ate a ton extra, but I guess everyone can be different. I average about a 14oz. rib eye a day, or maybe 12oz or so of burger, or a couple three chicken thighs. It was a job to get that eaten. For the extra I added bacon or sausage with a couple-three eggs in the morning. It does not sound like a lot to me but maybe it is for me. Next round of bloodwork will give more details. Scott
