An Observation about my recent bloodwork on cholesterol.
You are absolutely right about that. The more they fail in their present theories the more the move the goalposts in the wrong direction. Just another example of treating the symptoms rather than the disease. I’m going to post and article explaining this very thing shortly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What Did You Eat Today?
I have found for me, that if I have no appetite it’s because my body doesn’t need fuel. Of course that’s just me. I don’t eat if I’m not hungry. I never eat by the clock anymore. I often will go all day without even thinking about eating. Now that isn’t to say that’s what you are going through but just something to think about. Since a became a carnivore my hunger signals totally changed as well as my tastes for certain things. For instance coffee, I completely lost my taste for it and I’ve been a heavy coffee drinker ever since I joined the Army back in 75. Now I just drink one cup of tea in the morning. (I still want a little stimulus in the morning) I no longer have a taste for anything sweet. In fact just the thought of something sweet is repulsive to me. I hope what you’re experiencing is something akin to what I’m experiencing and not something medical in nature. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

An Observation about my recent bloodwork on cholesterol.
An observation I made while going over the results of my most recent bloodwork results was that of the LDLc recommendation. The first time a statin was ever mentioned to me was probably back in the early to mid 90’s. The doctor at that time suggested I get on a statin because my LDLc was as he put it, “ borderline high” at 200. So in this latest test my LDLc was 195 and my present doc is saying it’s extremely high. Then I noticed the average that they recommend now is 130. Good Grief! [emoji1749] In another five years it’ll probably be down to 100. Well I refused the statin back then and I’m still refusing it. I’m just fine with it being what “they” consider high. My most recent blood work results.
My latest blood work is in and I’m surprised at some of the results. Now let me preface anything I say with I know that these results are based on comparisons to an average of people who eat the SAD so I don’t think it can be held as a completely accurate assessment. So I had a blood test done at my sixth month mark on carnivore so this one is nearly at my one year mark. Total cholesterol then was 299 and this time it was 269. LDL was 225 and now 190. Wouldn’t bother me a bit if it would just stay up there. Trigs was 87 and now 66. [emoji106] HDL was 57 and now 66. [emoji106] That gives me a ratio of 1. [emoji106] All of the other markers we within the averages of what is considered average or normal except sodium and potassium. My sodium was 139 and now 133. The average is supposed to be 135-145. So it’s not terribly low in my opinion but with the supplements I take and all of the salt I eat I’m surprised to see it low. My doctor thinks I’m drinking too much water but I guess I’m still flushing out electrolytes but then my potassium levels were a little elevated potassium was 4.7 and now 5.9 with the average range to be 3.5-5.3. So that doesn’t quite fit with the flushing theory. Another surprise was my A1c. It was 5.2 but now 5.6. Other than basic fluctuations I’m not sure how to explain that increase. Maybe I fasted too long. I had be fasting for about 18-19 hours. My estimated glucose was also elevated. Was 103 but now 114. Same phenomenon as the A1c? So my doc wants me to stop taking my potassium supplement and stop drinking so much water. I only drink about 4-6 16 ounce glasses a day. That doesn’t seem excessive to me. Anyways I found it all to be very interesting. I stopped taking my Keto Chow mineral supplements today and will just put Redmonds salt in my water and I will continue taking my magnesium supplement. From what seems to be recommended for daily sodium intake I’ll be putting about a tablespoon of salt in my water everyday as well as salting my food liberally. Of course I’ll spread that out throughout the day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dairy
With dairy I will initially have a craving for more dairy. It’s a trigger food for me so I limit it. Regular dairy of course has sugar in it so I suppose you could be sensitive to that but I wouldn’t think that little bit in your coffee would hit you like that. Tiredness could be from not getting good sleep, too little energy in form of fat for fuel. You may not be eating enough. It could be Lepton resistance. It can be a little hard to say for sure. Try cutting out all dairy for several days or weeks and see if anything changes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hello from Wales
I emulsify it with a NutraBullet. Any blender would work also. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

what am i doing wrong??
Bob pretty much nailed it all but I will add that you haven’t been on carnivore long enough to see much if any difference. Carnivore is not a magic bullet. Carnivore is not a diet. Carnivore is a way of eating which enables your body to undo years of metabolic damage, abuse from calorie restricted diets, and metabolic disregulation. Carnivore is primarily about health and healing. Yes- it is true that the weight will come off. But! It will do it when it wants to. For some people it happens fast, for others slow because we are all different. Some women, as Bob said, will loose slower than men. Look at Kelly Hogan, she took 6 months before she saw any weight loss but she did see metabolic healing in that time. So relax. Give it time and just eat right. Eat only when you are truly hungry then eat fatty meat until it doesn’t taste good anymore. Use plenty of salt and maybe take an electrolyte supplement and drink water. Avoid anything that’s sweet. Avoid all seeds, grains and seed oils. Eliminate all vegetables and preferably spices in the beginning. But most of all, be patient. None of this happens overnight. As I said earlier, this is not a diet, it’s a way of life that you should commit to for life, for health. KCCO Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hello from Wales
I quit coffee just because I lost my taste for it but do drink one cup of tea in the morning. I make mine bulletproof. That’s one tablespoon of butter and one tablespoon of MCT oil in the tea and then emulsified. It’s creamy, frothy and delicious. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Liver consumption
Eating too much liver can result in toxic amounts of vitamin A. But how much is too much? And does the type of liver matter? I’m not sure anyone really knows for sure. It is recommended to only eat it in small doses weekly or larger doses once a month from my understanding. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hello from Wales
Welcome Bev, we are glad you could join us. Bob is correct that women can have a different experience with this WOE than men do. I think I heard Kelly Hogan say in one of her videos that it took her six months before she saw weight loss but like me, neither of us became carnivores for weight loss. We did it to get healthy and heal our bodies. The weight loss was a side benefit of becoming metabolically healthy. Without knowing how you are eating it’s hard to try to analyze or give any advice other than to say just eat animal fats, animal protein m, salt and water and as you need to adjust from there. Just staying away from all forms of sugar, seeds, seed oils and highly processed foods can work wonders to heal us. I would include vegetables in that list but while they provide no benefit or nutrition for our health I don’t believe they are that detrimental as long as they are kept to a bare minimum of less that 10 carbs. Stay with it and make sure you are eating enough fat and protein because you don’t want your body to go into starvation mode otherwise it could be reluctant to lose its fat stores. Finding community
Welcome Susanne, we are so glad you could join us. From your journey in dieting you have accumulated some wisdom that may help others around here. It also seems that you have discovered what so many fail to realize and that is diets do not work. They are not sustainable. Your knowledge has brought you to the realization that eating for health and well-being is a lifestyle and not a diet in the conventional sense. Carnivore is a lifestyle commitment to health. It will bring optimal health and optimal weight. As I’m fond of saying, “ I don’t eat a carnivore diet, I am carnivore. Thank you for joining our tribe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Memorable Cooking Disaster
Hahaha! Sorry to laugh but that’s funny. Next time just put them on a baking pan then pop them into a 350° oven for about 5 minutes or until the cheese melts how you like it. Nachos were made this way long before microwaves were invented and truth be known may even taste better that way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What to do, how to react, quips and tales of woe.
I have been very fortunate or maybe just to intimidating to have anyone challenge me on my WOE. If I’m at a restaurant they’ll ask me about sides to go with my steak and when I tell them none they seem surprised and say are you sure? Of course I’ll say, I just eat meat and leave it at that. At get togethers if I can’t find something suitable I’ll just fast. We went to a financial planning seminar recently and all they had to eat was sandwiches, chips and sweets. So I just asked for water. When they said are you sure you would like to fix a plate I just said I’m sorry but I’m afraid there’s just nothing there I’m willing to eat. When ask if I had some dietary constraints I just said not really, I just eat a very specific diet called carnivore. The guy giving the seminar perked up and said his mother was doing that and that started a positive conversation that others were interested in. Educate yourself in all you can about carnivore so that you have the confidence to defend your way of life. Be confident that you are doing what is best for your health and project that confidence. When others see that you know what you’re talking about with an air of authority then they may start asking questions to learn rather than ridicule. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Increasing Hunger on Carnivore?
That doesn’t sound normal to me from all I’ve researched and experienced. It is the conventional wisdom among the carnivore community that you eat until you are comfortably full or satiated and that it’s the fat that signals our hunger hormones to shut down so like Bob stated, you may need more fat. The fat in hamburger does render out when cooking and you are doing great by adding butter to the meat but you can also use that rendered fat like a gravy and pour it back over the hamburger. Try to find ways to incorporate more fat to your diet. I add butter and MCT oil to my one cup of tea in the morning and emulsify it. I make sure that everything I eat has plenty of fat either in it or added to it. I don’t specifically eat OMAD or 2MAD I just eat when I’m hungry. So sometimes that’s OMAD and sometimes that’s 2MAD. Sometimes I get hungry around 11 or noon and sometimes not till 3 or 4 in the afternoon. Now when I say hungry I’m mean really hungry. Not that little empty feeling in my stomach but a true hunger where my body is saying I need food for fuel now. That little empty feeling is easy to ignore for me. A carb hunger was a gnawing craving that demanded satisfaction but a keto hunger is mild and just says hey, we need some fuel, fill er up. It’s actually easy to ignore if I’m fasting. Are you sure all sweeteners are removed from your diet. Even the hidden ones that can be in our foods? That could also make a difference in hunger signals because they could be acting as a trigger. Dairy can do the same thing. Just a few suggestions. I hope you get it figured out. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Which foods have the most plastics? You may be surprised
Wow! Just WOW! I had no idea the magnitude of it all. I saw that same video with Dr. Berry and decided to start cutting out as much plastic as I can but it’s just impossible. I still plan on getting wood cutting boards and only using glassware and silverware but all of my storage containers, while most of them are glass, still have plastic lids. All of my stainless steel tumblers and thermoses have plastic lids. The inside of my refrigerator is mostly plastic. It’s just too overwhelming. I’ll try but I’m afraid it’s an exercise in futility.
