Hi Folks,

First time posting and I'm hoping someone can help.  I did strick carnivore WOE for 11 months.  I reaped all the benefits we all know about, 30 lb weight loss, way less inflammation in my joints etc.   Had a 2-month "fall off the wagon" but have back to nothing but meat water and salt since January 2025.   The problem I'm having is I know my body is not digesting the meat the way it did before I stopped.  I have less energy and and go to bathroom more often and with considerably more output.

I am concerned the 2-month hiatus may have damaged my gut lining or stomach or gut bacteria, etc.   Has anyone else experienced this and if so, what helped get you back on track.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

As an IBD sufferer you know when your gut is damaged. Stools don't form properly, you get mucus and visits do get frequent.

Do you have any blood?

I honestly don't think Carnivore is an issue though of course it does take a while to adapt .... but you know all this. Is it possible you have IBS or IBD?

If there is an underlying medical issue it may be more than 'just starting carnivore again'.

I'm ten months in and don't think I have enough experience to offer advice nor 'teach the way' LOL.

In my personal experience, fat and electrolytes have been a constant process of dialing in to what suits me/works for me. If my fat intake drops low over a period of days I get constipated, but when I do go it is followed by several loose stools over that same day. Loose enough that what was enough water intake is now not enough water intake. From there I have some cramping. I dial it in, get a good stretch, and then inevitably I repeat.

I am only ten months in and have tried different approaches within the 'meat, salt and water' eating. As of late I have increased eating trying to hit a protein target to go along with a lifting program. When I eat more, I go more. I think carnivore worked best for me when my approach was eat when I am hungry and then eat til I am full. Within a couple months I was eating once per day and I had incredible benefits and some normalcy with my stools. I don't think my body is as near as efficient eating more trying to hit a protein target. I am not sure it should work with excess.

Good luck. Welcome back. Hopefully you can find your path. It is almost like I found mine, but intended and inadvertent tweaks leave me with bathroom issues.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the response!  No blood in the stools.  No pain bloating or constipation.  Physically I feel pretty good. I think you're right in that its just taking a little longet to adapt.

Thanks again!

Thanks Scott,

It took me a few months to dial in the macros on my first go around.  I'm probably being a little impatient with the process this time.  One of my carnivore friends has suggested digestive enzymes to help get back on track.  Gonna give that a try for a couple weeks.

Tks again,

I read kefir especially homemade has a huge amount of probiotics which helps with gut biom

Thanks Ketomonster!

I'm trying some digestive enzymes with meals today.  Have never tried Kefir but might give that a go as well!

    • "Marching into March with Much Motivation"

For this months challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to get up and move. Spring is in the air. The weather is getting better. Get out there and MOVE! Go for walks, hike some trails if they aren't too muddy. Or just make a goal to get on the treadmill or lift some weights more than usual throughout the month. Get in the habit now, and we just might have beach bodies when summer officially hits, lol.

Just like before, we encourage you to check in daily, and share what you have eaten, perhaps a weigh-in if you're willing, and enjoy in some small talk.

The March drawing will be for a 4-pack of Carnivore Bars!

Every Reply in this topic will count as an entry for this month's prize drawing. Back-to-back posts count as 1 entry as a counter to spamming.

Attending Monday night zoom also counts as a bonus entry. Being a supporter of our YouTube channel also gives you an entry.

    • Today is February 1st and marks the first day of "National Fasting February" - and yes, this is a thing. Google it!

For this month's challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to practice various forms of fasting throughout the month. The type of fasting you wish to do is entirely up to you. We are going to encourage INTERMITTENT FASTING, that is to put it simply, skipping a meal so that you are only eating 2 meals a day instead of the traditional 3 meals a day. The goal is to enjoy these meals within an 8 hour "feasting window" and then no food in the remaining 16 hours "fasting window" (in which 8 of those hours you should be sleeping).

An example is waking up at 7am, but waiting until 11am-noon for your first meal, and then having dinner at 6-7pm for your 2nd meal. Other people prefer to eat a breakfast, then a mid-day lunch, and skip dinner.

If you want to throw in a 24, 48, or 72 hour fast just to show off by all mean do so, lol.
