I truly enjoy the exchange of information. I probably use the site more to wind down after shift work. I stop by, read some, post some and then crash. If I weren't on the carnivore diet I would say "I am having my cake and eating it too". I don't know of a meat-eater saying that says the same thing. LOL Scott
  6. Unfortunately. Most people do not I t understand the GLP1 medication. Dr. Eric Westman recently stated in a video that a strong ( < 20 total carbs a day) Keto style diet would be more effective with less cost and side effects. People want easy and fast results.
  7. I tried them in 2018 and thought I was allergic to them because I had everyone of the reaction symptoms. Turns out it was the final straw in triggering my auto-immune issues. Probably had them off and on for the longest but never all of them at one time until I took three-four days of a statin. I can't see me ever going that route again. Scott
  8. Inside Robert F Kennedy Jr's controversial diet of red meat and fermented foodsPublished 16:13 2 Feb 2026 GMT The politician has even roped his wife into helping him achieve his diet goalsby Ella Scott Robert F Kennedy Jr, Secretary of Health and Human Services, has never shied away from discussing his controversial diet ideas with the public. Last month alone, the 72-year-old shared new US dietary guidelines, proclaiming that the ‘war on saturated fats’ was over, and presenting the idea that American’s should eat copious amounts of meat and cheese while keeping whole grain consumption to a minimum. Now, the environmental lawyer has defended the eyebrow-raising carnivore diet, claiming it has helped him lose a large amount of ‘visceral fat’. What is the carnivore diet? The carnivore plan is a restrictive diet usually consisting of meat, fish, eggs, seafood, and some more meat-derived products, such as cheese and butter, as per Harvard Health. Shannon Haynes, RD, a registered dietitian at Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, explained that the extreme ketogenic grub explicitly restricts carbohydrates, alleging that the body gets its energy by ‘burning fat instead’. “[It’s] supposed to speed up the breakdown of fat, improve blood sugar and decrease inflammation,” she told Hartford Healthcare. However, studies suggest that the carnivore diet can lead to nutritional deficiencies, increase inflammation risk due to the copious amount of red meat consumed, and put stress on the kidneys. Dr Mia Kazanjian, a board-certified radiologist in Connecticut, told Fox News Digital that anyone thinking of embarking on the idea should speak to a doctor first. "As a physician focused on cancer prevention, I recommend a Mediterranean diet, largely plant-based, with whole grains, fruits, vegetables and lean proteins, for optimal health and longevity," she added. RFK Jr defends the carnivore dietIn a new interview with USA Today’s Extremely Normal show, RFK Jr has admitted he is ‘on a carnivore diet’. “I only eat meat or fermented foods,” he said, adding that his daily meal plan ‘may not be right for other people’ and that he didn’t want to ‘make [himself] a role model for what people should do and shouldn't do’. As well as claiming to have lost fat by solely consuming meat, animal-based products, and fermented foods such as sauerkraut, the Republican alleged his diet had helped improve his cognitive ability. The politician celebrated his 72nd birthday last month with a plate of steak (X/@HHSGov) "The way I feel, my mental clarity, my word retrieval, I had noticeable improvements, and you can attribute some of that to placebo effect, but I lost 20 pounds in 20 days when I switched to this diet,” he claimed. However, he acknowledged that some of the so-called ‘enormous benefits’ could be put down to a placebo effect. Does the carnivore diet help you lose weight?Yasi Ansari, senior dietitian at UCLA Health Santa Monica, has spoken about RFK Jr’s weight-loss claims. “Technically, it’s possible to lose visceral fat on any diet in the short term," she told USA Today. "Anytime we restrict calories or significantly change the diet, we may see reductions in visceral fat in the short-term.” However, she added: “The long-term health benefits of consuming a diet rich in fibre from whole grains, nuts, seeds, beans, chickpeas and lentils − alongside lean proteins − far outweigh the short-term results that may be seen with a highly restrictive, fad diet.” RFK Jr's fermented foodsAs well as tucking into plates of meaty madness, the father-of-six apparently enlists the help of his wife, actress Cheryl Hines, to carry fermented foods around for him. Cheryl Hines reportedly carries around fermented foods for her husband (David Crotty/Getty Images) "I’ll have my little clutch, one of my good bags that I only take out every once in a while because I want to keep them nice, and he’ll hand me a bag of sauerkraut and say, 'Can you put this in your bag?'" the 60-year-old Curb Your Enthusiasm star said to The Cut. In January, the Washington DC native celebrated his 72nd birthday with a plate of steak, rather than a traditional sweet cake. “No cake, just steak. Happy Birthday @SecKennedy! We are so grateful for your leadership and determination to Make America Healthy Again,” wrote the official X account for the Department of Health and Human Services. The big thing is that they seem to work for so many people. The drugs allow the weight loss with little to no effort. Most are looking for the easiest route forward on everything and if one has struggled with weight/obesity/health issues 'taking another pill/shot' is nothing. Statins 'fixed' so many things for so many people. 'Asbestos' was a miracle product in all forms of construction. Seed oils were a better option than animal fats. Etc. Etc. The only thing that really changed people's minds was time. The GLP-1's are in their infancy and already there are some issues with bone and muscle loss. I am no medical professional but it feels like these will be the tip of the iceberg years from now. I don't think they are for me. But with that said, if they work for someone and get them where they need to be, then so be it for them. And this is from the outside looking in, but the handful people I know using the drug are not coupling it with better eating or exercise or lifestyle type changes to make something after the drug being sustainable. In one way or another, it becomes a life-long need. Scott

Funny how things work out. A month or so ago, maybe more I started my weekend fast while pulling night shifts. On Sunday night the shift decided to cook and have a 'work supper' together. I told them I was fasting and they all know about carnivore. Just as they were sitting down they called me to the breakroom. They threw in a got me a tomahawk steak that looked huge and very appealing. It was such a nice thing they did I broke my fast with a tomahawk. This weekend I started my fast on Friday and on Sunday the shift cooked again for the Super Bowl. They made me some really nice burger patties. Plotted my trips to the gym for this week. On Saturday morning I was planning on going to the gym after nightshift. I ended up having to work over. Planned again for Sunday morning but it was 8F so I had to come home and get the animals straight after a night in the single digits. Moved it to Monday and had to work over again. I told myself nothing would keep me from going this morning until I had an emergency phone call from home. This guy we paid to cut tress down ten+ years ago broke down near here and walked up on my daughter-in-laws porch at 6AM. He was drunk and banging on the door for some tools to change a tire. It scared her half to death as she was home with her three month old. Unfortunately, when I got the call it was 'some guy' and I dropped my tools in the floor and left a pump in mid-repair. I was on pace to make the 40 minute drive in 25 minutes and my wife sent me a pic from the security camera. He is harmless, and a super nice guy, but drunk he didn't realize how it came across. Crisis averted at home and I missed out on the gym again today. Maybe tomorrow. LOL Scott

Yep. I'm right back at it just about immediately after. I am guessing everyone's plans have obstacles and bumps in the road. Luckily mine are very minor and sort of funny and not all that impactful (except for the first ten minutes with the guy on the porch). Last night at work we were talking about carnivore and fasting and I made mention that I have one employee that could single handedly stop my fasting. It is hard to fast when presented with a huge, very well prepared tomahawk steak, coupled with the appreciation I had for it being a 'show of appreciation by my shift'. Sort of babbling. Just a quick post this morning to wind down from nights. Scott

Yes. The main problem with GLP1 and SGLT2 is the lack of long term studied. They were never done a Ken Berry explains it. I suspect many high profile people are using them. Competition will increase supply and reduce prices. Insurance companies are likely not too happy right now

We all are just a bit different to some degree. It is the bell curve, most of us are under it somewhere perhaps under one of the tails I react negatively to many drugs. Particularly T2DM and statin meds. Negative side effects. So I have c e to do the more natural, holistic, and simpler way. So this has landed me to a Ketogenic Diet, usually and mostly BBBE. My main objective is to control my Blood Glucose Level, BGL. The side effects are nice and include no joint pain, no skin issues, no heartburn, no sleep apnea, overall I feel better. No negative effects for a journey of 55 months. My Blood Glucose Level is regulated by a Ketogenic Diet and 25 units of Long Acting Lantus Insulin a day (down from 50 units) My 90 day Blood Glucose average is 114 mg/dL. Ranging between 70 to130, 95 percent of the time. My focus in February is increasing my exercise. Results are slow, but are steady. My journey began at age 65, far to late. Life is better and the prospects look decent long term For me, this is the only path that has worked i look forward to mor positive results in 2026. You all be well.

The same here. I bought a set of weights and put them out in the small shop behind the house. Probably the most effective workout with them was unloading them from the truck to the shop. I joined a workout center today. I’m just not getting much done with my dumb bells at the house. I do better when I have a larger range of equipment to work with and I’m more motivated when I have someplace to go. This gym is just 2.6 miles down the road from me so if I wanted to I could get a great walk in going to and from.

Thought this might be of interesr. Started a new Libre 2 Plus Senior today. The graph shows an erratic pattern. It takes 12 to 36 hourb to settle itself out. Just the way it usually happens. The actual BGL is likely in between the highs and lows

Calories are marketable is one of the more impactful statements near the end of the video. I watched a video with a pro weight lifter who does a lot of science stuff with lifting and eating. He has a video where Atwater was debunked within a couple years of his work being published but by then the ball was rolling. The word calorie now has an understood definition that is the furthest from its true meaning. Considering impacts to labels and the food industry it would take billions and billions to make it correct. Scott

For years I ripped on people who watched videos on youtube and reels etc. and now the tables have somewhat turned. I watch so many carnivore and animal based eating videos I can't remember the titles and hardly remember the names of the people making the video. I think it is Primal Gal or Primal Bod but she gets really deep in this one video about how everything turns to sugar, basically saying that a slice of an apple with peanut butter is no different than a snickers bar, it all turns to sugar. I eliminated sugar for a long stretch and found some healing I never seen coming. It was like a killer weight loss program with an even better bonus plan. I sort of accidentally/intentionally (mostly just not paying attention) reintroduced some sugar thru the protein drinks I was buying. Then at Christmas I ate some mashed potatoes and green beans (with green beans being one of greatest things on earth, LOL). On both occasions I learned that sugar is way more powerful than meat. On strict carnivore I had basically zero appetite. If I ate today I had no interest in eating, no did I fell hungry until the next day, and sometimes even late into the next day. I have said before I have been amazed at how much other people can eat at one sitting. But since I started using the protein drinks and the little bit of sugar in the protein powder I have an appetite. The little bit of sugar has sort of overcome the satiability of the fatty meats. Going in to carnivore I had zero cravings and had zero issues with breaking away from sugars and vegetables and breads and pastas. But since bringing back sugar I have an appetite and I can see how important it is to choose the right things to eat when that happens. The sugar triggers the appetite and the appetite does not care what you choose bring satisfaction. If one chooses crappy sugars the body will crave more sugars. The meats can off set some of that with some satiation and some satisfaction. I think I learned quite a bit by doing things the wrong way, LOL. Scott

Looks good. My son did a brisket day before yesterday and it turned out super. Then he ruined it by making taco soup out of it. Carnivore, just my opinion here. Is not going to be over about 5% of the population. Why.? Human nature and Addiction. You can go off plan, you do not die by eatting one Snickers bar. The lack of that outcome says it all. Is why there are seat belt laws, interlocking systems and the like. The final straw is people do not know or understand cholesterol, insulin, and basic biology. They believe the old repeating messages.

Joe Rogan has a couple sections here and there on his podcast about his experiences with carnivore. Really good takes on the positives and then a few of the reasons he gets away from 'true carnivore approach'. Big fan of Jordan Peterson. I had watched a number of his videos and then one day after I was months in with carnivore I watched a video on him being a red meat eater also. And that led to his daughter and her videos. I will check out her video you mentioned. Using the Lion Diet or really strict carnivore to correct health issues and then doing some re-introduction would work for so many. In the other post about people quitting carnivore, we could add that starting off thinking "carnivore forever", is a daunting task. Maybe the 'forever' part stops people from trying it for a stretch. I started off just meat and water then salt. I morphed into a red meat only approach on several stints for a month or two. As of late my sugar intake is up with the sugars from the whey and the milk. I can't say non-carnivore foods triggered my auto-immune issues but I can say when I went carnivore the symptoms and issues went away. I have made no effort to figure out which ones with re-introduction. I think I am holding a pretty good hand right now so I am going to stand 'pat'. LOL Scott

I dealt with it for over a month before finally giving in and getting an x-ray which came back as everything was just fine. So in hindsight, it might have been a gout attack. I was dirty keto - plant heavy, and still drinking here and there. I have not had another episode like this since starting carnivore or carnivore-centric keto eating patterns.
