  1. OMAD at 2pm today. 300gram ground beef burger, 2 chicken drumsticks, 2 dill pickles, small cube of liver wurst, teaspoon homemade mayo, made with avocado oil.
  2. It’s been about a week since I last posted about these symptoms and just wanted to update. I’m feeling slightly better, but these symptoms continue: Strange Rash, parts heal but then it appears in new places. Cloudy Urine, I only noticed this recently. Sore Eyes Brain Fog & Fatigue Histamine Symptoms, nasal congestion, mucus and inflammation. After doing more research about oxalates, especially what happens when you cut them out, I’m almost certain this is what’s causing my problems Could Oxalate Toxicity Be The Cause Of Your Symptoms Interestingly, I self diagnosed as autistic about 15 years ago, after identifying with the particular issues it causes, and now wonder if I’ve been sensitive to oxalates my whole life and didn’t know.
  3. I just watched this interview and wondered why I hadn’t heard of this doctor before. He makes the connection between metabolism, mitochondria damage, brain function, and how ketones can support healing . Harvard Psychiatrist: This Food is Causing a Mental Health Crisis
  4. Thanks Geezy and Bob for your comments and suggestions. My brain fog has cleared a bit this morning and I've come to the conclusion that I have multiple things going on and I'm not going to figure it out, or find a simple solution, yes Bob, I'm sure part of it is infection related. I'm accepting that whatever is happening, I can't control it, and it will pass eventually. This is what my life has been like for the past 12 years or so, very slow recovery from a damaged nervous system, with lots of steps forward and steps back, feeling better for a while, then crashing, it's just more of the same with the added stress and confusion of a major change in diet I think. From 2012 - 2015 I was almost entirely bed bound, unable to function apart from in the most basic ways and having to take care of myself, so my diet was horrendous for several years. When I was feeling better, I was able to eat better and finding keto at the end of 2019 gave my recovery a boost, until I fell off the keto wagon due to C19 chaos. I'm sticking with the diet and I'm going to re-evaluate at the end of February, which will be 90 days. I'll decide then if I'm going strict carnivore or sticking with what I'm doing. Yes I'm taking electrolytes, I was taking them separately, but on Monday my keto electrolyte formula arrived, so I've been taking those.
  5. I think this is a good idea, going full carnivore straight away is too much of a sudden change for some people. I went keto at the end of 2019 and did really well for about 3 months and mostly felt great, then C19 sent everything into chaos and I wasn't able to continue, but remembered how good I felt. This time I started slowly, first I eliminated sugar and started using Stevia and Erythritol as a replacement. Next I went gluten free, then I eliminated all grains, then I stopped using seed and vegetable oils, and now I do mostly carnivore during the week and ketovore on the weekends by adding a few low carb vegetables and berries. You have to experiment and find out what works best for you, listen to your own body and take things one day at a time. If you make a mistake, that's fine, just keep going from where you left off.
  6. The protein in goat milk is supposedly less inflammatory, for some people than the protein in cows milk. I'm one of those people and was tying to find goat cheese for a long time, then found some last week. I can't handle A1 cow milk and have to use A2, otherwise I get constant sinus inflammation. Raw milk is also illegal here in Australia where I live. I used to buy raw milk that was sold as a cosmetic product, called bath milk, but then our government made that illegal to sell too I'm not a fan of increasing control and restrictions (for my safety) and prefer having the freedom to make my own decisions about my health.
  7. I started thinking exactly the same thing a few days ago, also wondering if I'm imagining it. I've been at this about 6 weeks, and currently having a flare up of symptoms, but in general my positives are: More energy, improved mental health, faster healing of infections, improved dental health, better sleep, improved brain function.
  8. I'm wondering what's going on because in general, I've had very positive results, until now. I started eating this way at the end of November last year. I'm doing carnivore during the week and ketovore on the weekends, adding a few low carb, low oxalate vegetables and berries. I'm not strict carnivore, and still use herbs and spices, small amounts of dairy and drink one cup of tea a day. I use Stevia and Erythritol. I came to this diet already grain free and sugar free, and still in recovery from an iatrogenic toxic nervous system injury over 10 years ago which had left me with a CFS type chronic illness and lots of intermittent issues from inflammation, metabolic syndrome and most likely pre-diabetic, I have about 60 lbs to lose, but health is my priority. First few days of eating this way were great, then I went through the 2 week transition, keto flu stage, with some psychological bumps, then back to feeling great until I got a cold/flu, which lasted about 5 days. Then 2 weeks of feeling amazing with heaps of energy, motivation and very fast healing of things which normally take a long time. I started exercising regularly and was speeding through my chores every day, cognitively better than I had been in a long time. The list of improvements in my physical and mental health is too long to write.....but.... I started feeling awful exactly 1 week ago: Not sleeping properly, fatigue during the day, low mood, irritability, anxiety, temperature dysregulation, sinus inflammation came back, eye floaters came back and got worse, eye itching and leaking came back, joint pain came back, brain fog came back, virus issues flared up, none of this is new, it's old issues coming back with a vengeance after they had got a lot better or completely gone. I have stuck with the diet, but due to fatigue I haven't been able to keep up with my new exercise routine and have only been able to drag myself out to walk every other day, rather than daily. There are 2 things which could possibly be causing this, but I don't know and would love some input from others who have been doing this longer than me. Last weekend, a week ago, I 'accidently' ate some wheat on Saturday and Sunday, it was in a shop bought meatloaf, I had in the freezer. I hadn't read the ingredients list. I had been grain free even before going carnivore, so this might have been too much for my system to handle?? But would the effects of this last this long? Also, I'm fairly sure I'm having oxalate dumping issues, and these are ongoing, could this be causing a recurrence of old symptoms? At first it was, and still is presenting as skin issues, but now all these other symptoms are arising. I'm trying to include a few low oxalate foods, especially on the weekends, to slow down the dumping, it's difficult to know what to do or what to eat in order to manage this. Is it normal to experience ups and downs when starting to eat this way, beyond the transition phase? Could eating a small amount of wheat after being wheat free cause such a big reaction? I'm so tired I'm finding it hard to drag myself off the couch again and after feeling amazing for a few weeks, it's confusing and disheartening.
  9. The Recipe I used I hope that link works. It has a very mild taste and I can’t even detect it in the chaffles, I guess it depends on how much you use. I like to add a flour like ingredient because it changes the texture and makes it more like bread or waffles, rather than an omelette texture.
  10. Maybe it’s because now you’re feeling better you have become more physically active and motivated and don’t notice minor bumps when doing things. I’m like this, I get so focused on getting things done I hardly notice if I hurt myself until later. There’s also a possibility it’s vitamin C deficiency, that can make you bruise more easily.
  11. Thanks Bob for posting this video link, I watched a bit and it looks like I have several of these things going on. No time now but will watch the rest of it later
  12. When I became pregnant with my daughter I had been vegetarian for 8 years. The first 3 months of my pregnancy were horrendous, I was basically bed bound, nauseous and vomiting all day every day and found out I was seriously anemic when I got blood tests. Needless to say I started eating some meat, I’ll never forget those delicious barbecued pork ribs after 8 years of not eating meat. For ethical and spiritual reasons I would prefer to be vegan, but in reality my body needs meat to thrive and remain healthy. It’s taken me over 50 years to figure this out and to accept reality, better late than never I guess and now I have a future to look forward to.
  13. I made my first batch of chaffles using almond flour and coconut flour, using egg rings in a frying pan. They were ok, but not carnivore so I eventually got off my butt and turned the chicken breasts I’d bought into carnivore flour. It took a couple of hours, but was worth it because I made a lot and it’s staying like powder in the freezer so will last a long time. For breakfast this morning I had some of the new and improved chaffles with butter, salmon and grated cheese. Now I have a proper waffle maker ordered and will be making them in bulk for breakfasts from now on.
  14. Thanks for your reply Geezy. After what I’ve been through over the last 10 years a few itchy bumps are nothing but a curiosity and I’m definitely staying the course, especially after healing from a gum abscess in 24 hours. It’s ironic though, something which seemed like the healthiest thing to do at the time, turns out to be the opposite and is now biting me in my butt I even planted spinach in my garden so I could pick it fresh every day. I’m also feeling guilty for introducing other people to the ‘health benefits’ of green smoothies. I guess the fact that they taste disgusting should have been a clue.
  15. I’ve researched this and found that I mildly have some of the symptoms, like neck and shoulder pain and occasional waves of dizziness. Rashes and hives are something else I read about, but my skin issue is a little different and I’m wondering if it’s connected. I’m getting itchy bumps, like insect bites, some of them in places a bug shouldn’t have been able to get to. But unlike a mosquito bite, these bumps form a small head and then become like a tiny scab. I used to drink a daily green smoothie with spinach and almond milk, and have taken 2000mg of vitamin C daily for several years and I learned that excess C can also turn into oxalates. Has anyone else experienced this kind of skin issue and attributed it to oxalates?
  16. I started getting regular gum abscesses about 10 years ago when I was bedridden due to an iatrogenic toxic nervous system injury. I never saw a dentist and would let them heal naturally, which usually took about a week and was very painful. About six months ago I got another one and got some antibiotics from my dentist, I had finally recovered enough from my illness to be able to attend an appointment. The antibiotics really messed up my system in several ways, but within 2 days the abscess pain was gone and it was completely healed after 5 days. I’ve been meat based keto for about 4 weeks now, not sure exactly what it would be called, I’m eating meat, butter cheese, eggs, herbs and spices, a very small amount of A2 milk in tea and some low carb veggies on the weekend. Yesterday afternoon I felt the beginning of another gum abscess. It starts as a throbbing ache deep in the gum below a tooth and the pain gets worse with pressure. Within 6 hours it had followed its normal course of swelling into a hard, painful lump. Usually what happens over the following 12 - 24 hours is that it gets bigger and softer and fills with fluid and the pain increases. But this morning it was still hard and had reduced in size and the pain had decreased. Now, 6 hours later it’s gone, there’s no swelling and no pain. I can’t believe it!! It healed itself within 24 hours… because I’m just eating mostly meat now? How is this possible? Why would changing my diet in this way make this infection clear up so fast?
  17. These are on my to-do list now. Has anyone batch cooked these and stored them for later. I’m thinking fridge or freezer? Any suggestions?
  18. Those chaffles look delicious, I might have to buy a waffle maker soon. But my ninja foodie grill arrived today so I’m gonna have to get bored with that first. Today I had a wagyu beef hamburger and scrambled eggs for breakfast. For dinner I just ate my first attempt at grilled chicken on the new grill and some slow cooked lamb, which was amazing. The grilling needs more experimenting, chicken was a bit dry.
  19. Yes, as I kid, I liked meat, growing up it was part of almost every meal, bacon for breakfast, ham sandwiches for lunch and always meat and vegetables for dinner. I didn't start out this way, feeling like meat was repulsive, it crept up on me slowly, accompanying me on my spiritual journey, which started when I was about 13. Initially it was ideological and I was trying to purify my karma....whatever that means then there's all the 'meat bad' health information, which I'm quickly learning was mostly economic based, corporate propaganda, which started in the 70's I think, as the processed food industry was promoting it's products. I guess I've been part of a vegetarian//vegan cult for a long time, without realizing it, and now need to deprogram myself. I'm immersing myself in the online carnivore community, filling my mind with 'meat good' and 'meat delicious' kinds of messages....and it's slowly working. Thankfully, the spiritual seeking ended after finding what I was looking for, so now it's time to take care of the body and hopefully live a long life, which was always part of the plan.
  20. Thanks for reminding me about this, I used to love liverwurst as a kid, I grew up in the UK and that sort of food was easily available, hopefully I can find some here in Australia. In the mean time I have big slab of liver in my freezer and still can't decide what to do with it.... swallow down little frozen cubes or transform it into something delicious.
  21. Hi Bob, I wrote a fairly long response to this part of your post yesterday, tried to post my reply and it disappeared, maybe a good thing because I was probably rambling a bit too much. Here's the TLDR version. I have about 60 lbs to lose and I'm continuing to recover from a seriously damaged nervous system, otherwise known as an iatrogenic toxic brain injury. Going keto a few years ago gave me back my ability to multitask, motivation and helped to stabilize my moods, but when the virus hit, I slipped back into carbs due to stress and not being able to get food so easily. My goals are to completely recover and live a long and happy life
  22. Lambs brains were a favorite when I was growing up, so it was the easiest part of the meal for me. My mother used to coat them in egg and bread crumbs, pan fry them in butter and serve with wedges of fresh lemon. I grew up eating them and didn't even know what they were. Soon after I was married, my husband and I were temporarily staying with my parents, my mother cooked brains one night and to me it was a normal thing, but my husband went nuts, refused to eat them and told me that if I ate any, he would never kiss me ever again....and he was serious.
  23. Thanks for this suggestion, yes I guess I’ll taper off my supplements and see how I do, perhaps stick with some vitamin D through winter and the occasional vitamin C tablet. I read through the study posted by Bob, thanks Bob, that was very interesting. It seems that there was some intake of vitamin C rich foods besides muscle meat at times of the year and that there was a concern about getting enough with some sub-clinical deficiencies at times. I looked at the very expensive keto algae wafers in my grocery store yesterday, $8.99 for 100 grams, I don’t think so. I’m glad I don’t have to eat seal eyes to survive. I heard a suggestion in a video about how to eat liver if you hate it, frozen in small pieces and swallowed down like a supplement, I bought some and will try it, but I’m also thinking about making pate, but haven’t figured out what to use in place of the hot, buttered toast it usually gets spread on.
  24. Hey Geezy, I get what you are saying here and feel a bit ashamed for not yet having faith and confidence. The problem is, after a lifetime of brainwashing about fruits, vegetables, grains etc. I seemed to be having problems knowing what's actually right for me. Lots of anecdotal evidence crashing up against a deeply programmed mind which is backed by fear. Yesterday I was experiencing psychological nausea and revulsion when I looked down at my plate of meat only dinner, steak, wagyu beef sausages and a couple of lambs brains. I managed to get most of it down, in reality it was delicious. But after, I got an overwhelming notion that I had just poisoned myself and grabbed some blueberries in an attempt to purify my body. I can see how ridiculous my behavior is, but this is where I am right now. This reminds me of how people often need to be deprogrammed when they leave a cult. I was part of the vegan/vegetarian cult for years and still haven't completely recovered, neither physically or mentally, but I'm getting there. Thanks, everyone else for your comments, suggestions and links. I will check them out.
