atlsrt44 got a reaction from louis in First cheat dayWell ive been hardcore since Jan 1 (0 sugar 0 carb). I had dropped from 272 down to 239 but had plateaued for the last couple weeks.
I decided to cheat on easter when we went to brunch at a friends.
I ate everything. (Even had coldstone after)
Couple observations.
1. Theres way too much sugar in everything and it doesnt taste as good anymore. (Including the coldstone)
2. I felt sick the rest of the day.
3. Weighed myself at the gym this morning and i dropped 2lbs down to 237.

atlsrt44 reacted to Bob in First cheat dayCongrats on the weight loss, Will!
I've had this similar experience countless times back when I did keto/low carb and even now that I am mostly carnivore. I would plateau for several weeks, get frustrated, eat a pizza, and weigh less the next day. And yes, I would feel pretty lousy.
Since i've started carnivore, I have vowed never to eat grains or sugar (basically, anything that's a grass) ever again. So to live up to my vow I cannot throw caution to the wind and eat a pizza or any processed junk. But... a large apple will do the same thing for me by breaking the plateau - which is a much healthier alternative.
If I am going to cheat, I cheat with something natural.

atlsrt44 reacted to Geezy in Dairy woesSounds like you are intolerant to dairy, which of course I’m sure you already suspect.
Since carnivore is an elimination diet you now know that this is something that you should eliminate. I like dairy and it doesn’t bother me except I have to be careful with it because I will tend to overindulge.

atlsrt44 reacted to Geezy in high cholestralThere is no path that requires statins. There is no need to lower your cholesterol. It’s fine where it is and May lower of stabilize as you progress with your diet. As stated earlier, in the beginning you will have a lot of cholesterol running through your veins simply because you have become fat adapted so you are using fat for energy. This will stabilize over time and become the new normal. Cholesterol is not detrimental to your health. You don’t have any need to change your diet to try to lower it. Eat a high fat, moderate protein diet with salt and water and that is the most nutritious way you can eat. If you start eating carbs again you will drop out of ketosis and you will start storing fat again. Yes, your cholesterol may come down some but to what benefit? Seriously, what do you hope to gain from lowering your cholesterol?
There is no benefit. The research clearly shows that in people our age, I’m 67, that higher cholesterol is very healthy for us and we live longer than people our age with lower cholesterol.
Just like my doctor, your doctor is ignorant. He knows little to nothing about nutrition and human physiology. They are pill pushers who treat everything with a drug when our nutrition is the problem. They treat the symptoms rather that the disease.
Do, it’s up to you to treat yourself by eating the proper human diet.

So wife wanted to go dress shopping at a big mall in Atlanta while we were there. I ended up getting 3 hamburger patties with cheese and bacon (no oil involved) and a bottled water.
$28....
Ill cook at home.
This was why i went to atl in first place

atlsrt44 reacted to Geezy in What if It's All Been a Big Fat Lie?That’s fantastic. Congratulations.
I’m in the same boat as you with family and friends. Many in my family know that carnivore is the truth and the way but they aren’t willing to give up their “fun” foods. I get it. They don’t have the medical issues that I have that drove me to carnivore. If your body feels good, you feel good so you have this false sense of security that makes you think you’re healthy.
Then there’s the ones who see your progress but think it’s just a faze you’re going through and know that eventually you’ll be back to your old ways and they will have the smug satisfaction that they were right. They are wrong of course but they will never let go of that smugness unless they experience what I’ve gone through.
Then there are those who just don’t care. They are old and even though they are in bad health and pain they figure it’s just part of being old. They just can’t understand or even try to understand that we are correct when they’ve been brought up eating carbs and doctors telling them it’s healthy. Even when the proof is standing right before them they just can’t believe it to be true.
One elderly woman whom we take care of and is morbidly obese, had several small strokes and has countless health issues, is weak and in pain told me “I’ve only got so many more days left so I just want to enjoy those last days enjoying my food.” I get it but then again I don’t understand it.
