Hello all!  New to this community about 30 min ago.  Started Carnivore on 1/2/25.  Mainly a BBBE lifestyle with some clean seafood mixed in.  I have spent probably 100 hours on youtube over the last few months researching the lifestyle change before starting it so the concept is not new to me but the lifestyle is.  I had a rough day 4 and 5 with BP going sky high for me but made it through.  It has been 1 month now.  Down 16 pounds, BP average is dropping but all over the place.  In the last few days alone I have seen 157/88 all the way down to 106/54 pulse74.  It is averaging lower since starting but I wish it would make up it's mind.  oh; average before starting was in the mid 130's/mid 180's.  anyway other than saying hi I looking for some options for potentially changing cardiologists.  I am looking for someone that is more supportive of the Carnivore lifestyle.  I could start calling around but I really don't know how to vet them to get an honest answer out of them.  would anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?  I am in the North Forsyth Atlanta, GA area.  Good to meet you all.

Welcome to carnivore talk mccleary.
While I had great results with my BP doing great things it’s not uncommon for some to experience what you are going through. The good thing is that it generally straightens out in time as your body becomes metabolically healthy and adjusts to this lifestyle. It can be a very radical change for some people.

In doing a quick google search it was easy to find several sites, some that require memberships, that have resources listing carnivore friendly doctors across the U.S.

Here is one site run by Dr. Kiltz that would be a good start.

There is nobody in my local so I just do my own research and take charge of my own health. I’m honest with my doctors and my cardiologist absolutely loves what I’ve accomplished by eating carnivore. So much so that he’s taken me off of all my heart meds, and reduced my visits to only once a year for a check up. I’ve apparently reversed my Atrial Fibrillation.

I hope you can find someone as it would make things a lot easier.
Good luck.

Welcome aboard.

Barring other health conditions, in general the BP should come down. Mine came down a significantly, but I still take my meds because my BP can run high due to my chronic kidney disease.

Regarding cardiologists, you might just have to be upfront about it. "I'm on a very meat-centric diet, which I have put in a significant amount of time studying and researching, and I am committed to sticking to this lifestyle for the rest of my life. I am looking for a doctor who is open to working with a patient like me and honor my choices, and wish to avoid someone who's strongly entrenched feelings of veganism or a plant-based diet might cause a conflict of interest between us. Would you be that doctor?"

Thank you for your reply.  It has been a roller coaster for me.  7 weeks in, BBBE diet.  all foods are clean with no additives.  BP will be fine for a week and spike high overnight or part of a day.  makes it difficult to regulate salt intake.  I know for some it does not have an impact and I know my body needs it.  I also know that if I exceed 2000mg sodium per day I may or may not have very uncomfortable results.  anyway.  thanks again for your feedback.

I wonder, are you taking any electrolyte supplements?

My body needs salt. If I don't get salt, I start having twitches and muscle spasms. But I have kidney disease and struggle with electrolyte balance anyway.

I imagine it takes work for me to hit 2000 mg in a day these days now that I have cut out most junk food and restaurant foods.

    • "Marching into March with Much Motivation"

For this months challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to get up and move. Spring is in the air. The weather is getting better. Get out there and MOVE! Go for walks, hike some trails if they aren't too muddy. Or just make a goal to get on the treadmill or lift some weights more than usual throughout the month. Get in the habit now, and we just might have beach bodies when summer officially hits, lol.

Just like before, we encourage you to check in daily, and share what you have eaten, perhaps a weigh-in if you're willing, and enjoy in some small talk.

The March drawing will be for a 4-pack of Carnivore Bars!

Every Reply in this topic will count as an entry for this month's prize drawing. Back-to-back posts count as 1 entry as a counter to spamming.

Attending Monday night zoom also counts as a bonus entry. Being a supporter of our YouTube channel also gives you an entry.

    • Today is February 1st and marks the first day of "National Fasting February" - and yes, this is a thing. Google it!

For this month's challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to practice various forms of fasting throughout the month. The type of fasting you wish to do is entirely up to you. We are going to encourage INTERMITTENT FASTING, that is to put it simply, skipping a meal so that you are only eating 2 meals a day instead of the traditional 3 meals a day. The goal is to enjoy these meals within an 8 hour "feasting window" and then no food in the remaining 16 hours "fasting window" (in which 8 of those hours you should be sleeping).

An example is waking up at 7am, but waiting until 11am-noon for your first meal, and then having dinner at 6-7pm for your 2nd meal. Other people prefer to eat a breakfast, then a mid-day lunch, and skip dinner.

If you want to throw in a 24, 48, or 72 hour fast just to show off by all mean do so, lol.
