Yes, it's true that for most people, they see their trigs plummet to beautiful low levels. But some of us see ours go up.... sometimes WAY UP! This happened to me, and I explain why in this video.

I do need to publish and update to this video. In the video, I talked about how I was prescribed fenobibrate and it helped reduce my triglycerides. But I found out, the hard way, that it also causes kidney damage - which I cannot afford because I am stage 4 already.

While fenobribrate might be useful for certain individuals, if you have high triglycerides due to some degree of renal failure, I would warn you to be very cautious in using fenofibrate. If you experience spasms, cramps, esecially at night, stop taking it. And even if not, check your blood MONTHLY.

I have been absolutely stressing out having my bloods come back still high A1c 8 but my trigs were off the chart having had triple bypass a couple of years ago this was not what I or my Dr was happy about.

this has stressed me to get answers ...but no one is addressing it which I find very strange from all the Drs online...I'm only 4 mths in and have lost 18 kg have checked ketones .3- 1.5 under 20 g of carbs ...i don't know what else to do...dreading the next blood test...Vin

What was the value?

Did you get a lipid panel prior to carnivore 4+ months ago for comparison? Were you fasted for 12-14 hours, no more, no less, when the blood was drawn?

You've lost 40 lbs (18kg) in the last 4 months, so congratulations! Like I explained in the video, think of your stored fat as triglyceride in solid form.  As you lose the weight on your body, the fat dissolves and enters your blood stream. Triglycerides are broken down and used for energy. For most people, they see their trigs drop like a rock, because they are being used for energy. For others, like myself, they build up in the blood. What we have to do is figure out why. 

In your case, I imagine it has to do with your diabetes. High triglycerides is common in people with insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome. As you A1C comes down, hopefully your trigs will too. 

But I don't recommend putting too much stock in a lipid panel while you are actively losing weight. It can be all over the place. I would wait 3-6 months after your weight loss has stopped and remained stable to get a lipid panel that would be more accurate.

More blood tests would rule out issues with the liver or low thyroid, etc.
