Cravings.
For cravings you can also try a pinch of salt under the tongue. Smoked salt is even better IMO. Works for hunger pains also.

Cravings.
I will always say "Fasting , for the win!". The energy effect I get personally from multi day fasting is nothing short of amazing and the personal challenge of going as long as you can is very powerful also. Autophagy and all the other hidden good things that the body goes through are probably the best part of a long fast.

Cost of Carnivore? Who's done the math?
Just wondering who has been checking the cost of a carnivore diet? I have, and here is what I have found. This is data for 2 adults, both eating a carnivore diet and cooking at home. We rarely "go out to eat". Data is taken from Credit Card spending reports and is NOT adjusted for yearly inflation. It is just dollars spent at that time. Grocery costs 2019 $5300 this is for a full "3 meal a day SAD diet" including alcohol. We were still drinking back then. 2020 data not available from CC - So Sorry 2021 $5700. I started Ketovore in August of '21. My wife joined in a few months later. We were still drinking a little N.A. beer at that time 2022 $6500. COVID food costs hitting hard back then. Stopped all alcohol consumption including N.A. beer. 2023 $5600. We are both 99% carny at this point. OMAD is our usual eating pattern at this time. 2024 $5500. We are both fully in the Carny groove at this time. OMAD continues as out way of getting nutrition. 2025 ???? And these figures are NOT adjusted for inflation, Which makes it even better for $ savings! so the moral of this story is when someones tells me that they can't afford to eat a carnivore diet because of "the coast of all that meat", I now just laugh and say "NO!, would you like to see the numbers?"

That made me laugh today. Thanks

Could You Be Fasting Too Much?
I do nightly yoga and stretches, which helps a lot, most nights. We got our Ebikes out today and went 17 miles and I feel really good right now. I can't walk very well to save my ass, but I can peddle that bike all day long. Luckily those bike muscles are still working. I use Copaxone for my MS. I see my nuero next week and I'm telling her to not renew the scrip for it. 2 years use and not much to show for results.

Some say lean mass hyper responders shouldn't be on carnivore. Based on what??? Show me the data. Bet there is none.

Happy Easter
I'm sure I gave myself the kidney stones by listening to the influencers of the day (10 yrs ago) while eating a SAD diet. I would down huge spinach salads, handfuls of almonds and beets, all in the name of eating healthy 😂. That advice was nothing but a big crock full of sh%t. Since then I have done my research and found actual science based nutrition advice by influencers who use actual results in their findings. That along with my own health results from 4 yrs of Carnivore have shown me a better way of getting my nutrition. I'm not planning on EVER changing the way I now eat. I also do NOT follow any influencer's who sell their own line of supplements. They just want your money and probably do not care how it turns out for you yourself!

I don't know what my A1C is but my other numbers from my last test (9 months ago) were similar to yours and I'm not worried at all about them. My wife who also is carnivore has numbers about the same. After I did the bloodwork last year, of course the doctors nurse called and mentioned the elevated results and I told her it was due to a carnivore diet and she then said well your ratio numbers are so good that I was not in ANY risk for heart problems. Look up "lean mass hyper responder" on YouTube and that should answer most of your concerns. LDL can act as a transport mechanism when eating a high fat diet, so it will be elevated for some carny's. I just say "Eat your meat and live a long life!"

Happy Easter
If you watch your consumption of other high oxalate foods I'm sure you will be fine. Eating calcium rich foods like eggs will help because some the oxalates in your system will bind to the calcium and be excreted through "the back door". You DO NOT EVER want kidney stones, that I can guarantee you! I've been through several episodes of body pain in my life including a broken femur and gallstones and by FAR the WORST was kidney stones!

That is a great book. One of the few that I have gone through twice.

Could You Be Fasting Too Much?
Each case of MS is so individual to that one person. It's kind of crazy.

Happy Easter
I have gone through two rounds of calcium/oxalate kidney stones. one had to be surgically removed, so I will not consume any medium or high oxalate foods. Another great reason to eat meat! ZERO oxalates from meat.

Happy Easter
FYI - Instant coffee supposedly has a lot more oxalates than regular brewed coffee. I've seen that on several high oxalate food list on the web. Thought I mention that in case oxalates are a concern for you.

If I add allulose, I just add it to taste. For 2 cups of cream it would probably be 1/4 - 1/3 cup of allulose. It's not that sweet but helps with the texture and freezability

Happy Easter
I tried other sweeteners but allulose really works well for an ice cream. Years ago I picked up a package of reusable plastic ice cream "push-up" molds. Those are great for portion control. I think they hold 3 oz max, but you can of course fill them with less. That's much better than sitting down with a mason jar full of ice cream and a spoon - TRUST ME! I know how that turns out. For me that's like saying "Well, I'll have just one slice of pizza" 🤣

New to carnivore, and I feel great!
Night shifts are sometimes killers for a healthy eating plans. Pre-Carnivore I worked 2nd shift for 30+ years and coming home from work was like a free license to eat another supper @ midnight. I've learned so much from the Carni community and you will also. Research and read as much as you can and it will just become your way of life. Good luck to you. Also if you can throw in a short extended fast once in a while, that is a big help for health. Start slow and work your way up to longer durations.

Happy Easter
Heavy cream, a few eggs yolks, a pinch of salt and maybe a splash of vanilla is all you need. If you want to add a sweetener I would suggest allulose because it keeps the ice cream from turning rock hard in the freezer.

8" chef's knife
I choose an 8" Mercer brand. highly rated on youtube and it had the features I was looking for. Amazon just dropped it off and it's nicely made for $38. Now we see how long the edge holds 😀. Sharpening is not an issue here. I have a Tormek and a CBN wheel for any needed touch-ups. For daily honing I have a steel and a leather strop. Now it's time to smoke a brisket and test this new knife out. Too bad i'm on an extended fast right now.

Could You Be Fasting Too Much?
That's great to hear of your success. Spondy can be worse than my MS some days. Eating carny has helped it a lot but I'm still working on my symptoms.

8" chef's knife
I'm in the market for a GOOD 8" chef's knife and looking for recommendations. It needs to be something that will hold an edge for a while. I'm currently using a Victorinox which is cheap and okay but it doesn't hold an edge for very long. Budget can't go too crazy on this purchase. I still need money for meat to cut with it 😆

What's the most weight you've lost in 24 hours?
Too many variables to be accurate over just a 24 hour period. You would be better to track over a few weeks and then divide by the number of days. I rarely weigh myself and just go by how my clothes fit. Currently I'm at 160.1 and headed for a final goal around 150. When I get there, I get there. I think it's more about how you feel then what you weigh.

Software Upgrade - Welcome to the new CarnivoreTalk
My screen went into "Dark Mode" which is perfect. Not sure if that was the reason but I love it. Dark mode is easier on the old eyes.
