  1. Is anyone else experimenting with homemade Reuteri (and other probiotics) Yogurt for their health? I dabbled in it a few years ago and never really got it fermented properly. This time around I'm making it properly and it is really tasty as far as Yogurt goes. Dr. Bill Davis has a great book out called "Super Gut" which covers all the details about the process of making and using it. My hope is to see improvements in my MS and spondylitis, along with whatever else it can do. Wish me luck.
  2. That is one of my main reasons along with the astronomical prices that my wife and I RARELY eat away from home any longer. I've also worked in kitchens and know what happens "behind the scenes" sometimes. I would like to be the only person handling MY food before I eat it! Some places are better than most , but they all got an issue somewhere in the chain of preparing my meal.
  3. We've been getting most of our beef from local places like Walmart or Meijer when it is on short sale discount. That is a hit or miss kind of deal but it sure beats their regular price for meat. Picked up 2 half briskets yesterday @ Meijer for $3 a pound. Those will go on the smoker Thursday morning about 5am. They had a few hot dogs and brats which I grabbed up also. No more room left in our freezer, Which is great as a carnivore 😄. Eat up Boy's and girl's!
  4. I have been taking Copaxone for my MS for several years and just last week told my Neurologist to NOT refill the yearly scrip for it. She had no problem with me making that decision and just suggested I taper off the remaining doses I have left. You can just quit Copaxone "cold turkey" because it's not a biologic or hard core therapy but she suggested it as being the best for my body. Copaxone is only effective in about 30% of MS cases and after age 65-70 it's not very effective for most of the people that use it. I had never felt any different or noticed any effect from using it, and it costs over $25,000 a year! Great deal, eh! 😂. I'll turn that $25K into meat and be much happier for it! The medical and drug business is not curing people. They just keep their customer base alive to generate income. Do your own research and be your own doctor for most things, anyways. When I broke my femur, well there I needed lots of help from several doctors 🤣
  5. I do most of our cooking so my wife follows along with what I'm having around 95% of the time. Sometimes she'll just whip up a chaffle and do her own thing, which is great for me because I will then sometimes just fast for the day or go a completely go a different direction (pan fried Spam and eggs is one example). Once you understand your body and how it responds on carnivore you then make your own modifications and get on with life. No veg for either one of us, a few oranges or strawberries we do eat yet but not everyday and usually only in season. For myself a Lion diet is still probably the best way of living.
  6. I feel my best when I do several days in a row of Beef, Salt and water. I should eat that way, everyday. I'm not even sure why I don't 😄
  7. We were at a cookout last week and had the brats and hotdogs from this place. They were very good. We will be checking out their store next week. It's only a few towns away (20 miles) and I never knew it even existed. Sounds like it's been there for years. Go figure, Ey.
  8. I'm 64 and of Germanic heritage from both parents, plus my father grew up during the great depression SO I am CHEAP and Frugal 😆. I learned it from the best! A great day for me is seeing a bunch of yellow tags in the walmart meat area. Unfortunately I don't see them often enough but the freezer is full So I'm not complaining. just got a package of stew meat yesterday for 60% off and turned that into a stir fry for lunch today.
  9. Around Wisconsin we have Quik-Trip gas stations which are little quick food markets. Most of the food they serve fresh is total crap but they have monthly sales and I watch for their fresh meat deals. Recently got 80/20 ground beef for $3 a pound. They had pre-cooked taco meat for $2.49 a pound. This month is brats for $3 a pound and they are fairly clean and taste great. Now I'm waiting for a bacon sale 😃
  10. I know, right. I just have trouble throwing away a book
  11. No real problems for myself, but we all will respond differently I'm sure
  12. I put up 60 lbs on the bar and found out I'm not a young/strong person anymore 🤣
  13. Today I ate a burger patty, a bratwurst and a few grilled shrimp. I'll probably have some bacon and eggs in a few hours to fit it in my eating window. I need to tighten up that window time. It's been going over 6 hours lately. I like to keep it 6 or less every day.
  14. Cheap and dirty, but it will work 🙂. I have been using the weight plate in my wood shop for glue-ups. Now i need to find something else for that use. My health is more important these days than my woodworking.
  15. I worked maintenance and electrical/electronic repair for 42 years, 30+ of those at a local screen printing plant. My wife and I both retired at 60 in 2021 and couldn't be happier with that decision. There would be no way I could still be working with my current state of MS. Thought for awhile about trying for disability but that comes with its own set of issues. For all my symptoms, MS fatigue is by far the worst feeling I get. kind of like flu weakness but you are not sick. AGGRAVATING for sure. Thats been greatly reduced for quite awhile now. Hoping that tightening up on the carnivore foods has helped. I got a little sloppy with food choices there for a while. Dairy and cheese is pretty much out of my diet now. I find dairy to be very addicting to me. A few nuts left on the shelf and then those are finished. I still add heavy cream to my morning decaf and about 4 times a year I eat a big bowl of popcorn but I load it with lots of butter, so....? It's just something I enjoy eating. If that's going to kill me then so be it 🤣 I got a 120 pound weight set here but no bench. I got some big timbers laying around and need to build a bench and start pumping once again. In fact you have motivated me to work on that today - Thank you
  16. I no longer make those anymore just for that reason. Way too easy to overconsume. I now only cook a few strips at a meal and that's it.
  17. I make those along with homemade Ghee. Both are really tasty and EASY to overconsume. Just the other day I discovered if I add a small bit of brown butter bite to my Blueberry Zinger tea it opens up a wonderful flavor profile kind of like drinking a candy. Be careful 😀
  18. Oil of bergamot is used to flavor Earl Grey tea. It supposedly helps autophagy during a fast also. I have a bottle of true oil of bergamot and I add that to my herbal teas while fasting. As far as statins go, you are the final decision in your own health care. Do your own research and if you don't agree with your doctor then you have the final say.
  19. That's my hope also, for it to disappear. Now that it's summertime for us again I like to get out in the yard and do whatever I can (cut the lawn, split firewood, Etc.) and on those days when I really push it is when I do seem to feel the best overall bodywise. Coming out of winter hibernation is always a rough time of year to "get going again".
  20. That chicken looks great. I was just at the store on the weekend and was going to grab chicken wings, but it wasn't "on the list" so of course due to failing memory I forgot them.
  21. I love a good "smoking day"! I get up before dawn to light the fire and get the tunes going, then make a huge pot of coffee for the morning session. Push on till 165'F, Wrap and head for 203'F. Kind of hard to beat a day like that. I use a homemade rub, and have never done just salt and pepper but I'd be willing try that once. I see on lots of places that is all they use.
  22. This list of items reminds me of my diet PC (Pre Carnivore). In the name of health, I was testing and trying every influencers idea of what they thought healthy should be. I have MS and that is my main area of concern as far as my health goes along with a laundry list of other conditions that sometimes go along with an MS life. I made the chia seed puddings and was adding flaxseed to everything, drinking vinegar water, homemade kombucha, adding Mushrooms powders, High dose biotin, Etc, Etc.......... in the end all I noticed was my wallet being drained by unnecessary items in my diet. Then I saw a Dr Berry video, totally cleaned out every kitchen cabinet and the fridge and never looked back. If spices don't bother your system then enjoy them for flavor but I wouldn't look to them for ANY health benefit. They may contain healthy bits, but the small quantities we consume will have very little to no effect on your health, IMO. I still use apple cider vinegar for my pickled eggs and unrefined coconut oil for ketones along with a few spices for flavor. Otherwise it is pretty much just meat (mostly beef). Leftover hamburgers and a few hard boiled eggs for today.
  23. Be sure to check this doctor out on youTube https://www.youtube.com/@doctorkiltz
  24. I went through all my cookbooks and got rid of 95% of them. If they mentioned vegetables, fruit or flour then they had to go 😂. I donated them to our local library book sale.
  25. When I purged our kitchen and fridge of all the crap nutrition I figured if it's no good for me, then it's not good for anyone else either. All the grains and spices went in our compost pit. All the sweet stuff was dumped on the lawn for the wildlife to consume and all the bad oils were used to light our fire pit. And after the purge our cabinets were bare! There is still a small container of real sugar in our house, BUT that is used for the hummingbird nectar that I make up during the summer.
