  1. I'm down here between Kent and Akron, just outside the snowbelt. Hudson seems to be the dividing line. I can leave my house and start driving up Route 8 North, and right about where the turnpike begins there it will go from no snow to god-awful amounts of snow, lol 😄 I'm not big on organ meats. I think they can be eaten from time to time, but shouldn't be a daily staple. Ancient man didn't go around eating kidneys and livers every day, lol.
  2. Only you can determine that if your condition is severe enough to warrant an ambulance in order to get immediate medical care. What do you mean by not feeling well like your going to pass out? Have you done any research into the "keto flu"? It's not really a flu or virus, but it's the wonky nickname we've given to the sick and fatigued feeling you might experience when switching to a extremely low carb, keto, or carnivore diet. To put it simplistically, your body is used to running on carbs. It WANTS to run on carbs, but you're not giving it carbs so it has to start running on fat. There's a transition/adaptation period after you run out of your carb stores and start utilizing fat more efficiently. It lasts a few days for some, and a few weeks for others, but it does go away.
  3. I will probably reach out to one or two individuals privately. Seniority, activity on the forum, and commitment to a carnivore-centric way of eating will be some of the heavier factors that are given consideration. If you have an interest in being a moderator (basically, either approve first-timers posts OR hide them and mark Users as spammers) you are more than welcome to PM me.
  4. While I want to defend myself here, you are right, lol. I have yet to be able to kick artificially sweetened beverages completely. I'm still zero sugar, zero carb, and yes I drink a heck of a lot of plain water each day, but I still enjoy my morning tea, occasional sugar-free lemonade, and a soda from time to time.
  5. Thank you. I've got a couple other topics that are also lengthy left to do, but I think I am gonna switch gears and make some shorter, easily digestible videos next.
  6. Hey Larry @ljimd, I just notice that you're a fellow Ohioan, along with @Orweller and myself. Some long-term carnivores have found themselves low in folate, which could make you feel fatigued. There is folate in animal foods to varying degrees, so if you are eating enough, you'll be fine. If you're a light eater, then occasionally adding some beef liver (good) or chicken livers (better!) will bring those levels back up.
  7. I've never done the leave meat open in the fridge thing. I've seen Chaffee talk about it.
  8. . Have your triglycerides gone UP while on your carnivore or ketogenic diet? Are you constantly being told by carnivore zealots/purists/police that you must be doing something wrong, sneaking carbs, cheating, or lying about your eating habits, even though you KNOW you are doing everything correct? Are you worried that you've been lied to about the benefits of beef, butter, bacon, and eggs, or that you've been "had" by the Lion Diet? Yes, it's true that for most people, they see their trigs plummet to beautiful low levels. But some of us see ours go up.... sometimes WAY UP! This happened to me, and I explain why in this video. 10. Glad to hear your kicking all sorts of habits. Have you had any blood work done lately? If you search for "reasons for high blood pressure" you see there can be a variety of reasons, with 'underlying health conditions' being one of them. For example, I still take blood pressure meds. My BP has come down considerably, but not as low as I would like. But my underlying issue is stage 4 chronic kidney disease, so I don't know if I will ever get it down to pristine levels. But with that aside, keep doing what you are doing. A well-rounded carnivore diet is absolutely the best thing for you.
  11. We should split this off and have a thread for our favorite Shorts/Reels/TikToks.
  12. Eggs, bacon, and sausage this morning. A few pork rinds when I got home to tide me over, and then burger patties with cheese for dinner. I'm contemplating a strict BBBE challenge for one of these last few months of the year. October might be it.
  13. They do say K2 pairs well with vitamin D. A lot of keto/carnivores take a D3/K2 supplement that comes together in a single pill. It's important to get your vitamin D levels check somewhat regularly when you take high doses. A friend of mine was deficient, and started taking 5000 IU's a day and within a couple months he was on the verge of vitamin D toxicity. On the other hand, I spill vitamin D (or the proteins which vitamin D binds to) through my urine because of my stage 4 kidney disease. I take 10,000 IU's daily and it has taken YEARS to climb up to decent levels. Eventually I will have to back off of it. But most people who take the dose that I take would suffer consequences pretty fast.
  14. Good morning everyone. I spent yesterday filming and editing. Lunch was the Mexican place, because I am a slave to my wife and kids, lol. I had the "Cielos, Mar, y Tierra" which is a ribeye, a chicken breast, and 6 shrimp. Then for dinner I had one of my burnt cheese foldovers. I need to hit up Sam's. I started today with 7 scrambled eggs with some cheese because I ran out of breakfast meats.
  15. I had/have ulcerative colitis. I've been off meds for 5 years. A couple weeks ago, I had a colonoscopy and there is no trace if it. My gastroenterologist stays said if the biopsy comes back negative he'll declare me cured. It's going to be the subject of a future YouTube video. Since your only on day 9, I wouldn't be quick to assume it's an UC flare up. Many people experience diarrhea when they drastically change their diet. You might just be dealing with transition/adaptation symptoms, "keto flu", like many of us did when we first started.
  16. Hi Scott! You'll find that most carnivores, even the strict ones, will still consume coffee, even though it comes from a plant - and the seeds at that (the most heavily defended part of most plants). It's pretty benign and innocent for most people. Unfortunately, I'm not like most people. I used to love coffee, but then I learned that the toxins in coffee were (part of) what was triggering my ulcerative colitis. When I quit coffee, I started to heal and got off my prescription meds. But most others can drink it without issues, so if that's you, then enjoy! Have one for me. Regarding vitamins, you'll be getting just about everything you need from your food when you follow a carnivore or carnivore-centric diet, so there isn't much need for supplementation with a multivitamin. If you need something specific, it's usually vitamin D if you don't get enough sun, and maybe some electrolytes if you're not getting enough through food (because we don't get it in our filtered water these days). Some take a tiny bit of iodine.
  17. Do it! You can make your course correction and at 20 years old I would imagine you would experience some tremendous healing in less time compared to those of us who are much older and severely battered. You have to be willing to commit. Make it a vow, set smaller, achievable goals at first. Let's go! For balanced education, binge Ken Berry. For inspiration, binge Sean Baker. For motivation, binge Homestead How.
  18. Yes it can. You have the potential "keto flu", adaptation/transition phase, and then cravings to conquer. For me, the strength to overcome addiction came in sets of "3's". The first 3 days were the toughest. After 3 weeks, I knew I could keep going. After 3 months, this was easily my new permanent lifestyle.
  19. I can be just as passionate about my carnivore diet, lol. BUT, I try not to be the militant dogmatic type. I like to think of myself as the Reasonable Carnivore, lol 😄
  20. I didn't take a picture, but today was lamb chops, cooked in ghee using my new cast iron pan. There was a bit of a learning curve for cooking in cast iron. Those things really hold heat and I was burning everything. I only need to set it half as high as my non-stick Ninja pans.
  21. So checking in on a mobile phone actually works just fine. The site is optimized to display very well both on a PC monitor as well as a mobile device. It's Tapatalk specifically that doesn't work for moderating. You'll see an unapproved post and Reply to it, never realizing that both your unapproved post and your subsequent reply are still invisible to everyone else, lol.
  22. This is basically a little survey of mine. I think I need an extra set of eyes on here. It never fails that someone new posts right when I go to sleep or start my day at work, and then when I do check on the forums, I see an unapproved post waiting in the queue and had been sitting there for 12-14 hours waiting for approval. The 1st post by a newbie gets held in queue. I do this so Spammers don't get to post. The alternative is to leave it open and then come delete the spam later, but that would mean spam could sit on the forum for several hours too and that doesn't look good either, lol. So who visits every day from a web browser? Unfortunately, the site cannot be moderated using Tapatalk.
  23. Welcome back Megan. We're here to help in any way we can. I often here people say "what is your Why?" for doing this diet, and that if you can remember your Why, then that will help you stay the course. Your Why is certainly tied up in knowing that you CAN feel better, becaue you did it once and you know it benefitted you. You can do it again, and so let's do it and 18 months from now you can look back on today as just a blip on the radar - you slipped, but you got back up again!
  24. I occasionally do a fried bologna sandwhich. Well, these days I put that on an Egg Life wrap. A local restaurant makes one and I really liked it so I now do my own carnivore version of it. Might just do that today in fact, lol.
