Seltzer water or carbonated water is fine on carnivore but “natural flavors” are not. The reason being is that there is no regulation on what “natural flavors” can consist of and the ingredients don’t have to be listed so they can be just about anything. Often those “natural flavors” are sugar.

"Natural flavors" indicate that the source of the flavor is entirely natural, as defined by the FDA. It is what is legally accepted as natural by the FDA. It doesn't mean that they are factually natural. First and foremost, "natural flavors" is a marketing term, no more no less.

Natural flavors is also a loophole. Often these are extracts, oils, and yes, chemicals. It means that to derive a certain flavor, they take short cuts to obtain a certain flavor, which could be entirely different from the product it means to taste like. Natural flavors could cover a list of 100s of chemicals -yes, found in fruits and plants, etc. The term natural flavors thus covers a long list of ingredients. Often this helps to hide a trade secret, or recipe.

The term natural flavors covers:

  1. The recipe/trade secret
  2. It's the cheapest way to achieve a flavor
  3. It's what is deemed natural BY THE FDA, in their OPINION
  4. To avoid having a long list of ingredients on the label

The term Natural Flavors is also sexier sounding as cyanide, ethyl acetate, propenyl guaethol, etc.

At the end of the day, natural flavors really mean that it is not derived from petroleum products. I think this stems from the 1970s when people were put off when they found out where their flavors truly came from.

Should you quit the stuff? I think that is entirely your decision. Gather information and make that decision accordingly.

I heard not to drink distilled water because it reduces minerals in the body

I also refrain from drinking distilled water. Will have to research if my beliefs are correct on this.

evidently distilled and R O water is gonna be the cleanest.  you can buy a solids parts per million tester and test yourself.  one guy on youtube tested his tap water at 188ppm he then distilled it and it tested  at 1 ppm.

Since we have a well and our water tests as bacteria free and only high in lime and calcium, I will just keep drinking what we have coming out of our tap.

    • "Marching into March with Much Motivation"

For this months challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to get up and move. Spring is in the air. The weather is getting better. Get out there and MOVE! Go for walks, hike some trails if they aren't too muddy. Or just make a goal to get on the treadmill or lift some weights more than usual throughout the month. Get in the habit now, and we just might have beach bodies when summer officially hits, lol.

Just like before, we encourage you to check in daily, and share what you have eaten, perhaps a weigh-in if you're willing, and enjoy in some small talk.

The March drawing will be for a 4-pack of Carnivore Bars!

Every Reply in this topic will count as an entry for this month's prize drawing. Back-to-back posts count as 1 entry as a counter to spamming.

Attending Monday night zoom also counts as a bonus entry. Being a supporter of our YouTube channel also gives you an entry.

    • Today is February 1st and marks the first day of "National Fasting February" - and yes, this is a thing. Google it!

For this month's challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to practice various forms of fasting throughout the month. The type of fasting you wish to do is entirely up to you. We are going to encourage INTERMITTENT FASTING, that is to put it simply, skipping a meal so that you are only eating 2 meals a day instead of the traditional 3 meals a day. The goal is to enjoy these meals within an 8 hour "feasting window" and then no food in the remaining 16 hours "fasting window" (in which 8 of those hours you should be sleeping).

An example is waking up at 7am, but waiting until 11am-noon for your first meal, and then having dinner at 6-7pm for your 2nd meal. Other people prefer to eat a breakfast, then a mid-day lunch, and skip dinner.

If you want to throw in a 24, 48, or 72 hour fast just to show off by all mean do so, lol.
