Hi all, I hope you all having a great day.

I am from Asia and get used to consuming animal organs such beef offal, pork intestines, chicken heats, and etc. What I realized during the time that I lived in the US is that I have problems to find good quality non-frozen animal organs and a lot of people consider them disgusting and not consuming it.

The most frustrating part is that only thing I could’ve find was frozen Chicken heart or kidney Yakitori (skewers) from Japan in JungleJim’s. Those are definitely over priced compared to when I get it consume them Japan or South Korea, and what I’m looking for is just raw red beef liver, unfrozen chicken organs, and pork intestines, like that.

I think Kroger and Wholemart are definitely not a place for me. I tried a few local butcher shops but in vain and it is unpleasurable when other customers seeing me crazy for myself looking for beef offals.

I enjoyed my time in Hong Kong, consuming all the animal organs as much as I want, but I feel a bit stressed to go back to the US and surrounded with wheat, cookies, and cakes and people gonna judge me while they are eating those stuffs. 😐

I would really appreciate if anyone shares your experience and tips to getting safe and fresh animal organs to consume.

Thank you!

I eat organ meats but you are right, many in America don’t and will consider you weird for doing so. We do have some cultures in the US that indulge in eating organs, such as our Hispanic culture, but most don’t.

If you can find a good Mexican meat market or Cariceria you might be able to get some of what you’re looking for.

I raise most of my own meat and I hunt a lot so I get my organ meats from those animals that I raise and hunt. You might go to a butcher shop and ask them to save some organs for you from the next animal they process.

Yes, coordinating with local butcher sounds like the best option for me. I think the most important thing to be a good neighbor with local butcher and ask them if they can spare and sell organs like liver, kidneys, and hearts for me and visiting them as often as possible so they can keep their refrigerator out of products that other customers usually not get.
