  1. Glyphosates

Bob and 6 others reacted to Geezy for a post in a topic

The most-used herbicide on Earth just flunked a major safety test Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup, has been sprayed on food crops for decades. It’s used not only to kill weeds—but also to dry out wheat, oats, lentils, and chickpeas right before harvest, a practice called desiccation, which is illegal outside of the US. This makes our breads and grains uniquely toxic, turning glyphosate into a debate almost as hot as seed oils. New safety data this month has shocked the world, causing the EU to reevaluate it's already strict guidelines. Let's explore. Even EU levels are unsafe In June 2025, scientists from the Ramazzini Institute published the Global Glyphosate Study in Environmental Health. It was a two-year rat trial designed to mimic real-world exposure—specifically at the EU’s “safe” level of 0.5 mg/kg body weight per day. What they found: • Significant increases in leukemia and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma • Tumors in the thyroid and liver • Effects appeared even at the lowest dose tested—which mirrors the EU legal limit How does the U.S. compare to the EU on glyphosate? 1. "Safe" Daily Limit: • EU: 0.5 mg/kg body weight (EFSA) • U.S.: 1.75 mg/kg body weight (EPA) 2. Food Testing: • EU: Only ~1.7% of foods tested show glyphosate (EFSA Pesticide Residue Report) • U.S.: No federal testing; independent labs show widespread contamination 3. Cereal Contamination: • EU: Mostly non-detectable or under 100 ppb • U.S.: Up to 2,837 ppb in Quaker Oatmeal Squares (EWG, 2018); up to 500 ppb in 2023 retest (EWG, 2023) 4. Bread Products: • EU: Glyphosate rarely detected • U.S.: Up to 1,150 ppb in whole wheat bread (Detox Project, 2020) ppb = parts per billion. These levels are technically legal—but they raise serious questions in light of the Ramazzini findings. Why oats and wheat get hit the hardest It’s not just about what’s grown. It’s how it’s harvested. In cooler or wetter regions, farmers spray glyphosate 3–5 days before harvest to dry the crop evenly. This isn’t for weeds—it’s for convenience. And it leaves the chemical sitting right on the grain. High-risk foods: • Conventional oats • Wheat bread and crackers • Lentils, chickpeas, and hummus • Granola bars and "healthy" cereals This practice, called pre-harvest desiccation, is banned or restricted in several countries. In the U.S., it’s business as usual. Can you lower your glyphosate levels? Yes. Fast. The Organic for All Study tracked four families across four U.S. cities who switched to an all-organic diet. After just six days, their urinary glyphosate levels dropped by 70 percent. This wasn’t a detox protocol. It was just a grocery list. What you can do right now The best thing you can do is just eat meat. As a carnivore glyphosates are not an issue but for those who prefer more of a keto styled diet it’s best if you follow these guidelines. • Buy organic—especially for oats, wheat, lentils, and chickpeas. • Look for “glyphosate-free” certified products. • Swap in safer carbs. Rice, corn, potatoes, and sweet potatoes are never desiccated. • Support regenerative farms that avoid chemical harvest sprays. Look for “no spray” claims on-pack. • Question “healthy” snacks. If it’s made with conventional oats or wheat, assume glyphosate unless proven otherwise.

O Lord, lead me in Thy righteousness because of my foes; make Thy way straight before me. There is nothing reliable in what they say; their inward part is destruction itself; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue. Hold them guilty, O God . . . for they are rebellious against Thee. But let all who take refuge in Thee be glad, let them ever sing for joy; and mayest Thou shelter them, that those who love Thy name may exult in Thee. For it is Thou who dost bless the righteous man, O LORD, Thou dost surround him with favor as with a shield. —PSALM 5:8-12 I hope and pray that this doesn’t sound blasphemous but when reading this during my devotional I just couldn’t help but apply this to our daily journey as carnivores. It resonates with me in how we deal with those who rail against us in our WOE be it doctors, scientists, family or the general public. I’m afraid this sounds like I’m trying to make this WOE a religion, I’m not, but I constantly find how scriptures constantly apply to us in everything we do. After all the word bible is a wonderful acronym. Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth

Hello everyone, very glad to be here and find this community. I have been looking into Carnivore for quite a while, pretty much understood what it is a lifestyle. I started last week, so almost a week, and adjusting my eating habits throw-out as I go. I gave up soda and all that 15 years ago, have been drinking lots of water since then. One thing I was doing was having Dunkin donuts coffee bottled mocha. I haven't had one in almost a week, and the cravings for chocolate and coffee are going away. I absolutely love steak, meat all that and with the butter, but I do like salads (not given in to eating the vegetables or lettuce). Just simple, meat, eggs, butter, and water and of course salt. I have been watching Dr Barry, Dr Shawn Baker, Dr letterman, Old Guy Carnivore and much more. For me a lot of this make sense, I love history especially the past, and I know looking back humans did not eat the way we eat today, especially with all the additives and progression of the food industry. I am excited about my new journey, and I already am starting to see some changes, sleep, headaches and most important is my low blood sugar, I usually have to eat every so often, they always tell me always take candy with you in case your busy and it goes down. But I never would I always just run for protein, like a burger, chicken, chicken tenders, or something like that, and of course I felt better, so for me this made sense. I also have an issue with IBS and I have noticed that recently my tummy is much better. Thank you, nice to meet you all. Do you all have a group's that meet up? Melissa

Quick recap. 90+ days in and I stopped pain and inflammation medicine in May. No issues. I lost 54lbs thus far. My daily/across the board energy levels are higher than they have been in a lot of years. I'm getting to the gym and walking on my days off. I noticed sort of early on I was sleeping much better but maybe the big difference is when I wake up it is like a switch. Bam, eyes open ready to go immediately. Which leads to some weirdness. I was in the military and one of the things learned in the military is to sleep when you can. I can remember a 15-minute power nap feeling like an 8-hour snooze fest. You also learned to tune a lot out. I slept in a torpedo room on a nuclear-powered sub and slept thru firing torpedoes. I slept thru Hurricane Fran and walked outside to a different planet. My wife can vacuum in the bedroom, and I won't be bothered. But with that said, since those military days all you have to do is say my name and I pop tall ready to go. Since my 20's I have been able to sleep thru anything except my name. Everything the same after carnivore except we had a dog emergency the other night and my wife was yelling my name from the living room, and I never heard it. She came to the door and did the same/ She said I never flinched. The next night she had to actually touch me to wake me up. I have been sleeping really well since the switch, but I didn't know I was a couple hairs away from a coma. LOL. I am not complaining but do find it weird. Scott

OK, this is too weird, this might be a coincidence but you won’t believe this I’ve had neuropathy in both feet for several years now and no doctor could tell me what’s going on and why it’s happening or how to fix it so I’ve just lived with it. for several years now and no doctor could tell me what’s going on and why it’s happening or how to fix it so I’ve just lived with it. I realized a day or two ago that I could feel my feet, and just now I realized I can feel myself tickle my feet and it makes me jump, the only part that’s really numb now is the toes and they’re not even really that numb. and just now I realized I can feel myself tickle my feet and it makes me jump, the only part that’s really numb now is the toes and they’re not even really that numb. It feels funny to walk because it feels like I’m walking on pillows, I can feel the bottom of my feet now

Hello, I'm Kate and I'm returning to the carnivore diet for the 4th time. This time I'm hoping for a support community that can help keep me motivated and on track. I have been diagnosed with Axial Spondyloarthritis, an autoimmune/autoinflammatory disease, that has many effects on my body that I want to stop from progressing. When I go full carnivore my symptoms resolve and I have no signs of disease activity. It's a wonder I keep going on and off carnivore right? Well sugar addiction is real and lack of support doesn't help. Hopefully I can change that this time and stick to carnivore and stay healthy for life. Nice to meet everyone in advance and hope to connect with as many of you as I can.
  9. Smoker rebuild.

Bob and 5 others reacted to Geezy for a post in a topic

I finished rebuilding my smoker a few days ago. It was getting harder and harder to regulate the fire and heat in the smoker because the firebox was burned out so it was time to either build a new firebox or buy a new smoker. Since I like to build and create things (and it’s much cheaper) I decided to make a new firebox and while I was at it, remodel the smoker into something I’ve always wanted. So I not only built a new firebox but I turned it into a reverse flow instead of a direct flow smoker. Since I had to relocate the smoke stack I went ahead and lowered it down to grate level to force the heat and smoke down to the meat. I built new racks and added a top rack. The plate that makes this a reverse flow. This design allows me to use 100% of my grates instead of just 2/3’s of it. After I got the initial “burn in” to season the whole pit I did my first smoke on it yesterday. Lamb chops and a lamb roast. They came out great. I’m very pleased with how this came out. This thing really puts out the smoke better than it ever did. Can’t wait to do a brisket and some ribs on it. This thing is a beast now. The new firebox will never burn out in my lifetime. This thing will end up being passed on to one of my kids.

Today is 7 months since I started Carnivore. This morning, I tipped the scales at 223lbs which is 83lbs less than 7 months ago. I have not taken pain medicine nor inflammation medicine since late May/early June. I have Neuromyelitis Spectrum Disorder (basically Multiple Sclerosis but attacks the optic nerves). Other than a couple bouts with some bath room issues, I have only positives. The last month I have bounced around 76-79lbs lost. During that same time I dropped pant size for 40 to 38. Lost inches with pounds basically remaining the same. My weight loss has been erratic yet consistent, if that makes sense. The first thirty pounds came off pretty much a pound a day but from there it has been drops, mini-stalls/stabilize, then drops. I was on 79 a couple different time last week and week before but never actually touching 80. 4lb drop from yesterday til today. No change in diet, actually eating more as of late. At 55 I'm increasing the work in the gym and hoping to build some muscle/off set age related muscle loss as well as knowing it is the best defense against the muscle issues with NMO/SD. 7 months and I have pretty much nothing but positives. So much so, my wife is starting tomorrow. I am hoping this is the biggest positive yet. Scott

Hi! I'm Amber. I have been on various low carb diets before with quite a bit of success, but in all of those successes, it was when I severely limited even veggies that I found myself feeling the best. So, after gaining all and more back, I decided maybe adding all of those "safe carbs" back was a bad idea, and it was a gateway to definitely NOT safe carbs that I started craving! My first week I had some decent headaches, but only one migraine day and I consider that an absolute success. It has become obvious to me in the last couple years that sugar greatly exacerbates my migraines. I am doing classic carnivore, so meats, dairy, and some spices, coffee, and tea. I am going to try to slowly wean myself off of those extras. I have cut many of the spices already. I weightlift 3 times a week, full body. I have been doing that for years off and on, so I am not adding any extra exercise. I also hike with a backpack with my husband on some weekends. I joined a forum because it seems that I do the best when I can actually read other peoples' trials and successes and interact with people doing the same thing, and I don't think the forums on My Fitness Pal go any further than keto. Thanks for reading!

I've been off all since starting the Carnivore life and my depression and anxiety have been healed. I thank God. Amazing. Incredible. Since then I've also quit smoking/vaping (43 years) and lost 33 lbs and life has just been really good. I look forward to learning more and meeting my fellow Carneys! God bless you all.

I have been on the diet 90 days as of today. I had some immunoglobulin blood work done earlier in the week and the results just posted. My Immunoglobulin A numbers were still high at 388 (signs of infection and inflammation from an underlying illness) and my IM m numbers were low (51) which is actually improved from May. I have had nothing but the positives of the carnivore diet the first 90 days so there are zero complaints. I thought i would see a better number on the 'infections and inflammation' IMG a because I have not had to use any pain nor anti-inflammatory medicines since May. (Knocking on wood) I have not been sick since way early in the year. The IMG m number showed improvement, but I guess part of me was swinging for the fences. LOL My Vitamin D numbers jumped considerably to normal. I have been taking Vitamin D supplements for the longest and the numbers just lulled around really low. That is a plus. I think I am going to go with 'it has only been 90 days' and go from there. 52lbs and pain free within the first 90 days is not too shabby. There will be another set in November. Like with everything, time will tell. Scott

I was driving home a couple of weeks ago and peed my pants because I couldn't hold it....now...I can say " I have to pee..." and if I don't immediately run to the bathroom...it's no big deal.... amazing.

Robert, you are an addict. An addict must abstain from their drug of choice. It don matter if it’s alcohol, heroin, tobacco or sugar. I once quit dipping snuff for two years but I though just one dip wouldn’t hurt. Bam! I was hooked all over again. It was nine years before I tried quitting again. I’ve been clean of tobacco for 18 years now but I know that I can never allow tobacco in any form ever touch me again or I’ll be hooked all over again There’s no such thing as moderation. An alcoholic can’t just have a beer. A heroin addict can’t just smoke a joint. You are a sugar addict so you should abstain from not just sugar but everything that’s sweet including all artificial sweeteners and milk products. Be aware that there are 75 different names for sugar so read your food labels carefully for those hidden sugars. There are those who are not addicts and can moderate but if you can’t then you must stay away from it. I can drink one beer and not touch another one for several years. It doesn’t bother me but I’m not an alcoholic. I just choose not to drink anything that is loaded with carbs. Make your choice what is best for you and your health. My choice was no sweeteners whatsoever. I don’t need the temptation. If you’ll give it at least 30 days I think you could kick the addiction. I’ve heard some do it in two weeks. Who’s stronger, you or the sugar? [emoji2955] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My dad got me into these. Totally delicious and chock full of Omega-3's, vitamins, and minerals. On Saturday I attended a graduation party. I had a chicken breast and Italian sausages. And then Sunday, a family reunion on my wife's side, where I was able to have hot dogs and hamburger patties. I did one set of blood tests after starting carnivore. I fell off the wagon on Memorial Day and I'm making my way back. Anyway, after about 6/7 weeks of carnivore my small lipid particles -which is the most important metric to examine for cardiovascular risk- were Low. The overall number doesn't matter. I don't trust any physician as a professional if they push statins (except in cases where the small particles are very high) now that we know the horrible side effects of those drugs. I think there's not much worse than excessive pain trying to move and dementia.

I think it is pretty much the same everywhere. When you see that young Engineer out in the field putting his hands on things he will develop much faster and end up a better Engineer long term. If that same Engineer, does it from the office or via the control system, via a manual, then he will be a maintenance person's long-term nightmare. I too live it every day. And maybe my favorite part of all? We get a new/young kid right out of college, and he is assigned to me for training. At six months he is 'certified' and then starts telling me how to run the plant. Not, this is what I am planning to do and what do you think about the plan?, but do it this way?. 10-15 years ago I would argue tooth and nail if I thought I was right. At 55 now, it is, "I'd do it this way but I work for you". And as long as no one is going to get hurt in the process, it is best they learn the hard way. This will babble way past carnivore but.....I spent years in the service doing sound silencing analysis so sonar systems can't pick up the submarine I was on. We emitted just about zero noise into the water with the exception of the screw. That experience transfers to vibration analysis now with the point of predictive maintenance and making repairs before failure. I can put my hand on an electric motor and 'tell' if there is enough vibration or a pending failure. Last week I called the new reliability Engineer and told him a 40HP electric motor needed to be replaced soon. He assured me his vibration analysis was far more accurate than my simple touch. Four days later, at 2 in the morning, the front bearing failed, enough wobble to tear the seal on the input shaft of the gear box before the coupling came apart. 40K in parts and well over a 100K in downtime. His report deemed it an unexpected failure. I simply highlighted 'unexpected' and sent it back to him. There was a time when it would have been important enough to me to let everyone know. I'm way past that now. I am targeting 59-60. Hoping everything works out that way. Congrats on you all that have made it that far. Scott

Then placed it on the smoker for 3 hours at about 160'F. once it got to 120'F internal I seared it on the gas grill @450'F for just a few minutes per side. Exactly like ribeye for 1/3 the cost! I've done this trick before and this is the best attempt yet. I made the chia seed puddings and was adding flaxseed to everything, drinking vinegar water, homemade kombucha, adding Mushrooms powders, High dose biotin, Etc, Etc.......... in the end all I noticed was my wallet being drained by unnecessary items in my diet. Then I saw a Dr Berry video, totally cleaned out every kitchen cabinet and the fridge and never looked back. If spices don't bother your system then enjoy them for flavor but I wouldn't look to them for ANY health benefit. They may contain healthy bits, but the small quantities we consume will have very little to no effect on your health, IMO. I still use apple cider vinegar for my pickled eggs and unrefined coconut oil for ketones along with a few spices for flavor. Otherwise it is pretty much just meat (mostly beef). Leftover hamburgers and a few hard boiled eggs for today.
  44. I have been on "Ketovore" with under ten grams of carbs per day. Good ketosis going on, no cravings for anything including alcohol. 20+ kg lost since November. Feeling strong. High blood ketones (2.0-5.0) are good heart fuel for my failed and stented heart. Those spices on the OP list would not bother me but I see they do no belong to a proper Carnivore. I use no seed oils! Pure organic olive and coconut oils only. Lots of butter. My carbs come from fatty sausages, yogurt, cheese, nuts and an occasional salad. My fat is 75% or more, energy % to be clear. Salads with fatty cheese like Feta help to keep fat up,all our meat (except bacon) is lean here in Finland.

We have arrived home safely. I would like to show you what we bought in Poland. The finest pasture-raised beef, 37 kg in total :) All the 37 kg are not shown in this photo. It is only a "small" part of our order.

When I purged our kitchen and fridge of all the crap nutrition I figured if it's no good for me, then it's not good for anyone else either. All the grains and spices went in our compost pit. All the sweet stuff was dumped on the lawn for the wildlife to consume and all the bad oils were used to light our fire pit. And after the purge our cabinets were bare! There is still a small container of real sugar in our house, BUT that is used for the hummingbird nectar that I make up during the summer.

For cravings you can also try a pinch of salt under the tongue. Smoked salt is even better IMO. Works for hunger pains also.
  48. I just found out this group after watching Geoff ‘s interview with Dave on YouTube an hour ago! I am greatly inspired by Geoff’s story and wanted to join this group to continue my carnivore journey. I am a 69 years old retired professor in geology. Had a heart attack three years ago. My left ventricular is expanded and EF was as low as 17% then. My CAC score is over 1400, with 30-60% blockages…. Geoff’s recovery from his heart problems through carnivore diet is just remarkable! I have been on carnivore since June 2024, feel better, but still am struggling to get my EF back to normal. After hearing Geoff’s story, I am convinced that I can heal myself through carnivore diet. I wanted to be part of this group, learn and share carnivore experiences. Thank you, Jack

Carny for 4 years and teeth and mouth have never been better for me. I switched to a non fluoride toothpaste about a year ago. BOKA brand is what i now use. It's a nano hydroxyapatite based toothpaste and really works well. It also contains xylitol which has been shown to help with cavity protection by reducing the acids in your mouth. Wife tried the BOKA and she had a few teeth that became sensitive to heat and cold items, so she went back to a fluoride based product. So, "your mileage may very" I also used to get canker sores (since the age of 5!) and eating carny they are no longer a thing in my life. I cannot remember the last time I had one.

I’m so happy I started this journey! I have been on beef, bacon, butter, and eggs, with occasional chicken or pork. I started at 209 lbs and weighed 175 today. I’m continuing, but going to Ketovore for a little variety. I don’t post a lot on here, but I do read a fair amount. I’d like to thank you guys for the encouragement along the way. It’s going to be fun to go back to NY (in fl for the winter) since I haven’t told anyone there what I’ve been doing 🙂
