  2. O Lord, lead me in Thy righteousness because of my foes; make Thy way straight before me. There is nothing reliable in what they say; their inward part is destruction itself; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue. Hold them guilty, O God . . . for they are rebellious against Thee. But let all who take refuge in Thee be glad, let them ever sing for joy; and mayest Thou shelter them, that those who love Thy name may exult in Thee. For it is Thou who dost bless the righteous man, O LORD, Thou dost surround him with favor as with a shield. —PSALM 5:8-12 I hope and pray that this doesn’t sound blasphemous but when reading this during my devotional I just couldn’t help but apply this to our daily journey as carnivores. It resonates with me in how we deal with those who rail against us in our WOE be it doctors, scientists, family or the general public. I’m afraid this sounds like I’m trying to make this WOE a religion, I’m not, but I constantly find how scriptures constantly apply to us in everything we do. After all the word bible is a wonderful acronym. Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth

  4. Hello everyone, very glad to be here and find this community. I have been looking into Carnivore for quite a while, pretty much understood what it is a lifestyle. I started last week, so almost a week, and adjusting my eating habits throw-out as I go. I gave up soda and all that 15 years ago, have been drinking lots of water since then. One thing I was doing was having Dunkin donuts coffee bottled mocha. I haven't had one in almost a week, and the cravings for chocolate and coffee are going away. I absolutely love steak, meat all that and with the butter, but I do like salads (not given in to eating the vegetables or lettuce). Just simple, meat, eggs, butter, and water and of course salt. I have been watching Dr Barry, Dr Shawn Baker, Dr letterman, Old Guy Carnivore and much more. For me a lot of this make sense, I love history especially the past, and I know looking back humans did not eat the way we eat today, especially with all the additives and progression of the food industry. I am excited about my new journey, and I already am starting to see some changes, sleep, headaches and most important is my low blood sugar, I usually have to eat every so often, they always tell me always take candy with you in case your busy and it goes down. But I never would I always just run for protein, like a burger, chicken, chicken tenders, or something like that, and of course I felt better, so for me this made sense. I also have an issue with IBS and I have noticed that recently my tummy is much better. Thank you, nice to meet you all. Do you all have a group's that meet up? Melissa

  5. Quick recap. 90+ days in and I stopped pain and inflammation medicine in May. No issues. I lost 54lbs thus far. My daily/across the board energy levels are higher than they have been in a lot of years. I'm getting to the gym and walking on my days off. I noticed sort of early on I was sleeping much better but maybe the big difference is when I wake up it is like a switch. Bam, eyes open ready to go immediately. Which leads to some weirdness. I was in the military and one of the things learned in the military is to sleep when you can. I can remember a 15-minute power nap feeling like an 8-hour snooze fest. You also learned to tune a lot out. I slept in a torpedo room on a nuclear-powered sub and slept thru firing torpedoes. I slept thru Hurricane Fran and walked outside to a different planet. My wife can vacuum in the bedroom, and I won't be bothered. But with that said, since those military days all you have to do is say my name and I pop tall ready to go. Since my 20's I have been able to sleep thru anything except my name. Everything the same after carnivore except we had a dog emergency the other night and my wife was yelling my name from the living room, and I never heard it. She came to the door and did the same/ She said I never flinched. The next night she had to actually touch me to wake me up. I have been sleeping really well since the switch, but I didn't know I was a couple hairs away from a coma. LOL. I am not complaining but do find it weird. Scott

  6. OK, this is too weird, this might be a coincidence but you won’t believe this I’ve had neuropathy in both feet for several years now and no doctor could tell me what’s going on and why it’s happening or how to fix it so I’ve just lived with it. for several years now and no doctor could tell me what’s going on and why it’s happening or how to fix it so I’ve just lived with it. I realized a day or two ago that I could feel my feet, and just now I realized I can feel myself tickle my feet and it makes me jump, the only part that’s really numb now is the toes and they’re not even really that numb. and just now I realized I can feel myself tickle my feet and it makes me jump, the only part that’s really numb now is the toes and they’re not even really that numb. It feels funny to walk because it feels like I’m walking on pillows, I can feel the bottom of my feet now

    What Did You Eat Today?

Love me some corned beef but I’ve never had it from a can. I’m thinking I need to cook one up now. Spent all morning mowing on my father in law’s place then all afternoon cooking. Got a half gallon of yogurt started. That’ll be done tomorrow. Then I started smoking 12 pounds of bacon and a couple of baby back ribs. The bacon is being chilled for slicing tomorrow and the ribs were fantastic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    What Did You Eat Today?

Well, at last, my partner has decided to join me and that has helped tremendously. I have been about 80% carnivore for ages but 'treated' myself to a weekly bottle of red wine and bar of chocolate. We've been 'clean' for 10 days now. At the moment, recipes have gone out the window. I just cook things like chicken thighs with the skin on, hard-boiled, eggs, and a sort of ground beef pie with eggs and seasonings with cheese on top. We just take a portion and eat it cold or microwave it. I also do other things like pork steaks, beef steaks, and salmon. We've always sat down around the table for family meals but that's kind of gone at the moment with my daughter cooking her carby meals for herself and my partner and I eating when we are hungry. I bought sardines today. Couldn't find them in brine so had to settle for olive oil. I'm definitely feeling better day-by-day.

  13. Today is 7 months since I started Carnivore. This morning, I tipped the scales at 223lbs which is 83lbs less than 7 months ago. I have not taken pain medicine nor inflammation medicine since late May/early June. I have Neuromyelitis Spectrum Disorder (basically Multiple Sclerosis but attacks the optic nerves). Other than a couple bouts with some bath room issues, I have only positives. The last month I have bounced around 76-79lbs lost. During that same time I dropped pant size for 40 to 38. Lost inches with pounds basically remaining the same. My weight loss has been erratic yet consistent, if that makes sense. The first thirty pounds came off pretty much a pound a day but from there it has been drops, mini-stalls/stabilize, then drops. I was on 79 a couple different time last week and week before but never actually touching 80. 4lb drop from yesterday til today. No change in diet, actually eating more as of late. At 55 I'm increasing the work in the gym and hoping to build some muscle/off set age related muscle loss as well as knowing it is the best defense against the muscle issues with NMO/SD. 7 months and I have pretty much nothing but positives. So much so, my wife is starting tomorrow. I am hoping this is the biggest positive yet. Scott

  15. Hi! I'm Amber. I have been on various low carb diets before with quite a bit of success, but in all of those successes, it was when I severely limited even veggies that I found myself feeling the best. So, after gaining all and more back, I decided maybe adding all of those "safe carbs" back was a bad idea, and it was a gateway to definitely NOT safe carbs that I started craving! My first week I had some decent headaches, but only one migraine day and I consider that an absolute success. It has become obvious to me in the last couple years that sugar greatly exacerbates my migraines. I am doing classic carnivore, so meats, dairy, and some spices, coffee, and tea. I am going to try to slowly wean myself off of those extras. I have cut many of the spices already. I weightlift 3 times a week, full body. I have been doing that for years off and on, so I am not adding any extra exercise. I also hike with a backpack with my husband on some weekends. I joined a forum because it seems that I do the best when I can actually read other peoples' trials and successes and interact with people doing the same thing, and I don't think the forums on My Fitness Pal go any further than keto. Thanks for reading!

  16. Just found the site and glad to be here. I went Carnivore ~27 months ago and it has been a true miracle for me. I was on SSRIs, and later SSRIs and Adderall, for 42 years. 42 YEARS!!! I've been off all since starting the Carnivore life and my depression and anxiety have been healed. I thank God. Amazing. Incredible. Since then I've also quit smoking/vaping (43 years) and lost 33 lbs and life has just been really good. I look forward to learning more and meeting my fellow Carneys! God bless you all.

  17. I have been on the diet 90 days as of today. I had some immunoglobulin blood work done earlier in the week and the results just posted. My Immunoglobulin A numbers were still high at 388 (signs of infection and inflammation from an underlying illness) and my IM m numbers were low (51) which is actually improved from May. I have had nothing but the positives of the carnivore diet the first 90 days so there are zero complaints. I thought i would see a better number on the 'infections and inflammation' IMG a because I have not had to use any pain nor anti-inflammatory medicines since May. (Knocking on wood) I have not been sick since way early in the year. The IMG m number showed improvement, but I guess part of me was swinging for the fences. LOL My Vitamin D numbers jumped considerably to normal. I have been taking Vitamin D supplements for the longest and the numbers just lulled around really low. That is a plus. I think I am going to go with 'it has only been 90 days' and go from there. 52lbs and pain free within the first 90 days is not too shabby. There will be another set in November. Like with everything, time will tell. Scott

    One week weigh in

I made it through the first week! No cheats, cravings or withdrawal symptoms and I feel pretty good. I dropped 9 pounds and I know a good bit was water but that's fine. I am back below 300 and I really hope to never see over 300 again!! My goal is 220lbs so 9 down and 75 to go.

  19. Ok...I just realized something else...my 5x urinating a night has stopped. I can go a whole night's sleep and only pee 1 or 2 times....no emergencies..... Normally if I have to pee...IT'S ON! I was driving home a couple of weeks ago and peed my pants because I couldn't hold it....now...I can say " I have to pee..." and if I don't immediately run to the bathroom...it's no big deal.... amazing.

  22. I just had my first Ribeye since starting this 6 days ago. So Chuck steaks are good, don't get me wrong, but they are miles from a Ribeye!! Man it was amazing cooked in bacon fat and topped with butter cooked rare but well seared in a cast iron skillet. Just wow nothing has tasted that good to me in many many years, even other Ribeyes!

  23. Robert, you are an addict. An addict must abstain from their drug of choice. It don matter if it’s alcohol, heroin, tobacco or sugar. I once quit dipping snuff for two years but I though just one dip wouldn’t hurt. Bam! I was hooked all over again. It was nine years before I tried quitting again. I’ve been clean of tobacco for 18 years now but I know that I can never allow tobacco in any form ever touch me again or I’ll be hooked all over again There’s no such thing as moderation. An alcoholic can’t just have a beer. A heroin addict can’t just smoke a joint. You are a sugar addict so you should abstain from not just sugar but everything that’s sweet including all artificial sweeteners and milk products. Be aware that there are 75 different names for sugar so read your food labels carefully for those hidden sugars. There are those who are not addicts and can moderate but if you can’t then you must stay away from it. I can drink one beer and not touch another one for several years. It doesn’t bother me but I’m not an alcoholic. I just choose not to drink anything that is loaded with carbs. Make your choice what is best for you and your health. My choice was no sweeteners whatsoever. I don’t need the temptation. If you’ll give it at least 30 days I think you could kick the addiction. I’ve heard some do it in two weeks. Who’s stronger, you or the sugar? [emoji2955] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    What Did You Eat Today?

Pic for attention, lol. This was a few weeks ago. I took my parents out to A Plus Crab in Cuyahoga Falls, which is a seafood boil restaurant. These were the raw oysters I got as an appetizer. My dad got me into these. Totally delicious and chock full of Omega-3's, vitamins, and minerals. On Saturday I attended a graduation party. I had a chicken breast and Italian sausages. And then Sunday, a family reunion on my wife's side, where I was able to have hot dogs and hamburger patties. I was able to make it work, but had to put up the palm when people would say "Aren't you gonna have any cAkE??"

  30. It's crazy though, isn't it? The information just wasn't available. I always considered myself to be quite healthy. No medications. Then I started to get pain all over my diet so went full-tilt into low-carb. The pain did subside only to be replaced by arthritis in my hips. I bet I could have prevented it all along if only I'd known.

  38. VShred is a typical mainstream diet. Doesn't seem to be any different from the standard western diet aside from calorie restriction. Kind of surprised it got targeted for a hit piece. The writer of the article is a dietician. Dieticians aren't allowed to recommend anything other than the national food guidelines or they risk losing their license. Men's Health is garbage. It has been for decades. It's a vessel to sell "health" products and other crap to men, not actually get men healthy by giving good advice. So we have a garbage article about a garbage diet by a garbage writer in a garbage magazine.

    Hi from New Zealand

Welcome. I too had a garden. If one is to give carnivore a chance, at least give it 90 days. It may take that long to get fat adapted and see most of the benefits. I loved my food too, and thought how ridiculous that sounded. We are programmed to love food thinking somehow we are a "foodie" a life enjoyer sipping wine at the French riviera.... we're addicted to sugar, period. With such a paradigm shift, yes, then one can still decide to go Paleo, or Keto, or any variation you like. But first give it the time it deserves, and allow your view on what food really is (hint, it's fuel, that's it), and make a decision from there. Most likely, much of the pain -the thing we are willing to put us through for the "love" of food- may have subsided and give you an entirely new perspective on diet, etc.

  40. I'd say beef AND venison for me, and that is an occasional splurge. But I won't find myself being hyper-focused on "grass fed" vs "grain fed". I actually enjoy pork a lot as well.

    Day 1

Welcome Megan, you’ve got a great support group here. Having an addiction to carbs is just like any other addiction. You have to be determined to beat it. You have to be stronger than the addiction. Just like an alcoholic or drug addict you have to fight it one day at a time. Start with today. Stay clean for just today. You will feel so victorious when the day ends and you go to bed. When the new day starts then you start all over again and just get through that day. You do this every day anew and before you know it your addiction is gone. The physical addiction is easy to beat but the mental addiction is the tough one because it lasts longer than the physical. So to beat that you have to have a strong mental game. I new to adopt the mindset that you cannot fail. No matter what, you will not fail. You can do this girl and we’re here to support you any way we can. Good luck and stay strong. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  46. Well everyone is different and what works for one may not work for another but you never know until you try. I think you’ve done fantastic in your progress. Now stop worrying about the weight. As your body heals it will happen but quite often we hit those stalls because the body is adapting or adjusting in its healing process. Sometimes you just need to keep on keeping on. Do you measure your body? Often when we appear to be at a plateau and the weight isn’t coming off we are actually losing inches. I’m not one for restricting calories because calories are energy and since we are fat adapted we need that energy but I do believe in eating only when I need fuel for energy. That means only when I’m hungry. And I mean truly hungry. An empty stomach doesn’t equate hunger to me. Hunger is when I feel the need to refuel and I know that meat is going to taste especially good to me. When I first started eating carnivore I ate by the clock like I always had but after a couple of weeks I started realizing that I was eating when I wasn’t really hungry. The food I was eating was so satiating that I just wasn’t getting hungry like I did before so I stopped eating by the clock and I now only eat when I’m truly hungry. That might be around 11:00 am or it might be 3 or 4 in the afternoon. Sometimes I just don’t get hungry for a day or two but that is rare. When I do eat I consume plenty of fats and protein with plenty of salt and I only drink water. I eat until I’m comfortably stuffed. When the meat stops tasting good I quit. I will generally consume around 1500 to 1700 calories and that works well for me. On the average I only eat once a day. During my journey I hit plateaus that would last upwards of about a month or so. It happened three times if I recall correctly. Each time I changed nothing. No gimmicks, no tricks. I just kept eating the same way every day. The thing is I understood the process and I didn’t see this as a diet. It’s my lifestyle and it didn’t matter when or how much weight I lost. I was going to eat this way no matter what. I knew that as my body healed that it would eventually get to its optimal weight. I didn’t really set any goals. In ten months I went from 225 to 170. That was with two one month stalls. Each time I stalled I wondered if I had reached my optimal level but in time it would kick back in. When I hit 170 I was pretty tickled because that was lighter than I had been when I joined the Army. I thought that’s it. I’ve hit my optimum weight. Well I was wrong. Once again I just kept eating the same way everyday and after about three months at 170 lbs my cardiologist took me off of my last heart medication and boom. I dropped five more pounds. So I know I got pretty windy here but I’m just trying to tell you to evaluate your diet and lifestyle to see if there is something you need to change whether it be a food, medicine or how often you eat and then be patient and let your body heal and do it’s thing. After 3 weeks of carnivore I noticed less pain and tingling in my legs and feet. Now 10 weeks in and there's slight numbness in my toes now.

    What Did You Eat Today?

Yesterday bacon and eggs from the tallow I made last week. For dinner we cooked New Tork strips (they were on sale at Sam's a week or so ago). They turned out nice. I was on the Mountain Dew for a week, and during that first week I had two small tabs of ice cream. Since that point I have toed the carnivore line and not broken away from just 'carnivore approved' animal meats, with eggs and butter. Last night was my first cheat. I added a 1/2 teaspoon of Heinz 57 on my plate. It was so funny. I think I did it out of a life-long habit as we were talking as we made our plates. I don't think I actually looked down and said, "I bet that would be good on this strip". Just habit. I decided not to waste it so I indulged. I am hoping a 1/2 teaspoon of Heinz does not become my gate way drug. LOL I normally walk from our house up the dirt road and over to the next road which is 1.3 miles so 2.6 when I get back home. This morning I tacked on the other.2 miles to get a total of three miles. I'm not sure if that counts as 'forgiveness' or not, but it was the best offering I had up to the carnivore gods in the sky. What Did You Eat Today?

So I made two pounds of liverwurst today and grilled up some heart, kidneys, spleen and testis. Heart and liver I eat all the time from the animals I raise and hunt. Good as usual. The spleen was my first time. It didn’t have a whole lot of flavor so it was no big deal. Testis or as we call them calf fries were great. We normally harvest and eat calf fries come round up but since we’ve quit cowboying we don’t get them much anymore. The kidneys were a new experience and I’m kicking myself for always giving them to the dogs in the past. The kidney’s were very good. Gonna have to try venison kidney off the next deer I kill.
