Glyphosates
7 pointsThe most-used herbicide on Earth just flunked a major safety test Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup, has been sprayed on food crops for decades. It’s used not only to kill weeds—but also to dry out wheat, oats, lentils, and chickpeas right before harvest, a practice called desiccation, which is illegal outside of the US. This makes our breads and grains uniquely toxic, turning glyphosate into a debate almost as hot as seed oils. New safety data this month has shocked the world, causing the EU to reevaluate it's already strict guidelines. Let's explore. Even EU levels are unsafe In June 2025, scientists from the Ramazzini Institute published the Global Glyphosate Study in Environmental Health. It was a two-year rat trial designed to mimic real-world exposure—specifically at the EU’s “safe” level of 0.5 mg/kg body weight per day. What they found: • Significant increases in leukemia and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma • Tumors in the thyroid and liver • Effects appeared even at the lowest dose tested—which mirrors the EU legal limit How does the U.S. compare to the EU on glyphosate? 1. "Safe" Daily Limit: • EU: 0.5 mg/kg body weight (EFSA) • U.S.: 1.75 mg/kg body weight (EPA) 2. Food Testing: • EU: Only ~1.7% of foods tested show glyphosate (EFSA Pesticide Residue Report) • U.S.: No federal testing; independent labs show widespread contamination 3. Cereal Contamination: • EU: Mostly non-detectable or under 100 ppb • U.S.: Up to 2,837 ppb in Quaker Oatmeal Squares (EWG, 2018); up to 500 ppb in 2023 retest (EWG, 2023) 4. Bread Products: • EU: Glyphosate rarely detected • U.S.: Up to 1,150 ppb in whole wheat bread (Detox Project, 2020) ppb = parts per billion. These levels are technically legal—but they raise serious questions in light of the Ramazzini findings. Why oats and wheat get hit the hardest It’s not just about what’s grown. It’s how it’s harvested. In cooler or wetter regions, farmers spray glyphosate 3–5 days before harvest to dry the crop evenly. This isn’t for weeds—it’s for convenience. And it leaves the chemical sitting right on the grain. High-risk foods: • Conventional oats • Wheat bread and crackers • Lentils, chickpeas, and hummus • Granola bars and "healthy" cereals This practice, called pre-harvest desiccation, is banned or restricted in several countries. In the U.S., it’s business as usual. Can you lower your glyphosate levels? Yes. Fast. The Organic for All Study tracked four families across four U.S. cities who switched to an all-organic diet. After just six days, their urinary glyphosate levels dropped by 70 percent. This wasn’t a detox protocol. It was just a grocery list. What you can do right now The best thing you can do is just eat meat. As a carnivore glyphosates are not an issue but for those who prefer more of a keto styled diet it’s best if you follow these guidelines. • Buy organic—especially for oats, wheat, lentils, and chickpeas. • Look for “glyphosate-free” certified products. • Swap in safer carbs. Rice, corn, potatoes, and sweet potatoes are never desiccated. • Support regenerative farms that avoid chemical harvest sprays. Look for “no spray” claims on-pack. • Question “healthy” snacks. If it’s made with conventional oats or wheat, assume glyphosate unless proven otherwise.7 points

7 pointsO Lord, lead me in Thy righteousness because of my foes; make Thy way straight before me. There is nothing reliable in what they say; their inward part is destruction itself; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue. Hold them guilty, O God . . . for they are rebellious against Thee. But let all who take refuge in Thee be glad, let them ever sing for joy; and mayest Thou shelter them, that those who love Thy name may exult in Thee. For it is Thou who dost bless the righteous man, O LORD, Thou dost surround him with favor as with a shield. —PSALM 5:8-12 I hope and pray that this doesn’t sound blasphemous but when reading this during my devotional I just couldn’t help but apply this to our daily journey as carnivores. It resonates with me in how we deal with those who rail against us in our WOE be it doctors, scientists, family or the general public. I’m afraid this sounds like I’m trying to make this WOE a religion, I’m not, but I constantly find how scriptures constantly apply to us in everything we do. After all the word bible is a wonderful acronym. Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth7 points -

Hello New from Gulf Breeze FL
7 pointsHello everyone, very glad to be here and find this community. I have been looking into Carnivore for quite a while, pretty much understood what it is a lifestyle. I started last week, so almost a week, and adjusting my eating habits throw-out as I go. I gave up soda and all that 15 years ago, have been drinking lots of water since then. One thing I was doing was having Dunkin donuts coffee bottled mocha. I haven't had one in almost a week, and the cravings for chocolate and coffee are going away. I absolutely love steak, meat all that and with the butter, but I do like salads (not given in to eating the vegetables or lettuce). Just simple, meat, eggs, butter, and water and of course salt. I have been watching Dr Barry, Dr Shawn Baker, Dr letterman, Old Guy Carnivore and much more. For me a lot of this make sense, I love history especially the past, and I know looking back humans did not eat the way we eat today, especially with all the additives and progression of the food industry. I am excited about my new journey, and I already am starting to see some changes, sleep, headaches and most important is my low blood sugar, I usually have to eat every so often, they always tell me always take candy with you in case your busy and it goes down. But I never would I always just run for protein, like a burger, chicken, chicken tenders, or something like that, and of course I felt better, so for me this made sense. I also have an issue with IBS and I have noticed that recently my tummy is much better. Thank you, nice to meet you all. Do you all have a group's that meet up? Melissa7 points

7 pointsQuick recap. 90+ days in and I stopped pain and inflammation medicine in May. No issues. I lost 54lbs thus far. My daily/across the board energy levels are higher than they have been in a lot of years. I'm getting to the gym and walking on my days off. I noticed sort of early on I was sleeping much better but maybe the big difference is when I wake up it is like a switch. Bam, eyes open ready to go immediately. Which leads to some weirdness. I was in the military and one of the things learned in the military is to sleep when you can. I can remember a 15-minute power nap feeling like an 8-hour snooze fest. You also learned to tune a lot out. I slept in a torpedo room on a nuclear-powered sub and slept thru firing torpedoes. I slept thru Hurricane Fran and walked outside to a different planet. My wife can vacuum in the bedroom, and I won't be bothered. But with that said, since those military days all you have to do is say my name and I pop tall ready to go. Since my 20's I have been able to sleep thru anything except my name. Everything the same after carnivore except we had a dog emergency the other night and my wife was yelling my name from the living room, and I never heard it. She came to the door and did the same/ She said I never flinched. The next night she had to actually touch me to wake me up. I have been sleeping really well since the switch, but I didn't know I was a couple hairs away from a coma. LOL. I am not complaining but do find it weird. Scott7 points -

6 pointsHello, I'm Kate and I'm returning to the carnivore diet for the 4th time. This time I'm hoping for a support community that can help keep me motivated and on track. I have been diagnosed with Axial Spondyloarthritis, an autoimmune/autoinflammatory disease, that has many effects on my body that I want to stop from progressing. When I go full carnivore my symptoms resolve and I have no signs of disease activity. It's a wonder I keep going on and off carnivore right? Well sugar addiction is real and lack of support doesn't help. Hopefully I can change that this time and stick to carnivore and stay healthy for life. Nice to meet everyone in advance and hope to connect with as many of you as I can.6 points -
Smoker rebuild.
6 pointsI finished rebuilding my smoker a few days ago. It was getting harder and harder to regulate the fire and heat in the smoker because the firebox was burned out so it was time to either build a new firebox or buy a new smoker. Since I like to build and create things (and it’s much cheaper) I decided to make a new firebox and while I was at it, remodel the smoker into something I’ve always wanted. So I not only built a new firebox but I turned it into a reverse flow instead of a direct flow smoker. Since I had to relocate the smoke stack I went ahead and lowered it down to grate level to force the heat and smoke down to the meat. I built new racks and added a top rack. The plate that makes this a reverse flow. This design allows me to use 100% of my grates instead of just 2/3’s of it. After I got the initial “burn in” to season the whole pit I did my first smoke on it yesterday. Lamb chops and a lamb roast. They came out great. I’m very pleased with how this came out. This thing really puts out the smoke better than it ever did. Can’t wait to do a brisket and some ribs on it. This thing is a beast now. The new firebox will never burn out in my lifetime. This thing will end up being passed on to one of my kids.6 points

6 points6 points- Body composition with carnivore weight loss
Today is 7 months since I started Carnivore. This morning, I tipped the scales at 223lbs which is 83lbs less than 7 months ago. I have not taken pain medicine nor inflammation medicine since late May/early June. I have Neuromyelitis Spectrum Disorder (basically Multiple Sclerosis but attacks the optic nerves). Other than a couple bouts with some bath room issues, I have only positives. The last month I have bounced around 76-79lbs lost. During that same time I dropped pant size for 40 to 38. Lost inches with pounds basically remaining the same. My weight loss has been erratic yet consistent, if that makes sense. The first thirty pounds came off pretty much a pound a day but from there it has been drops, mini-stalls/stabilize, then drops. I was on 79 a couple different time last week and week before but never actually touching 80. 4lb drop from yesterday til today. No change in diet, actually eating more as of late. At 55 I'm increasing the work in the gym and hoping to build some muscle/off set age related muscle loss as well as knowing it is the best defense against the muscle issues with NMO/SD. 7 months and I have pretty much nothing but positives. So much so, my wife is starting tomorrow. I am hoping this is the biggest positive yet. Scott6 points- CHECK YOUR BUTTER.....

6 pointsHi! I'm Amber. I have been on various low carb diets before with quite a bit of success, but in all of those successes, it was when I severely limited even veggies that I found myself feeling the best. So, after gaining all and more back, I decided maybe adding all of those "safe carbs" back was a bad idea, and it was a gateway to definitely NOT safe carbs that I started craving! My first week I had some decent headaches, but only one migraine day and I consider that an absolute success. It has become obvious to me in the last couple years that sugar greatly exacerbates my migraines. I am doing classic carnivore, so meats, dairy, and some spices, coffee, and tea. I am going to try to slowly wean myself off of those extras. I have cut many of the spices already. I weightlift 3 times a week, full body. I have been doing that for years off and on, so I am not adding any extra exercise. I also hike with a backpack with my husband on some weekends. I joined a forum because it seems that I do the best when I can actually read other peoples' trials and successes and interact with people doing the same thing, and I don't think the forums on My Fitness Pal go any further than keto. 6 pointsI have been on the diet 90 days as of today. I had some immunoglobulin blood work done earlier in the week and the results just posted. My Immunoglobulin A numbers were still high at 388 (signs of infection and inflammation from an underlying illness) and my IM m numbers were low (51) which is actually improved from May. I have had nothing but the positives of the carnivore diet the first 90 days so there are zero complaints. I thought i would see a better number on the 'infections and inflammation' IMG a because I have not had to use any pain nor anti-inflammatory medicines since May. (Knocking on wood) I have not been sick since way early in the year. The IMG m number showed improvement, but I guess part of me was swinging for the fences. LOL My Vitamin D numbers jumped considerably to normal. I have been taking Vitamin D supplements for the longest and the numbers just lulled around really low. That is a plus. I think I am going to go with 'it has only been 90 days' and go from there. 52lbs and pain free within the first 90 days is not too shabby. There will be another set in November. 6 pointsRobert, you are an addict. An addict must abstain from their drug of choice. It don matter if it’s alcohol, heroin, tobacco or sugar. I once quit dipping snuff for two years but I though just one dip wouldn’t hurt. Bam! I was hooked all over again. It was nine years before I tried quitting again. I’ve been clean of tobacco for 18 years now but I know that I can never allow tobacco in any form ever touch me again or I’ll be hooked all over again There’s no such thing as moderation. An alcoholic can’t just have a beer. A heroin addict can’t just smoke a joint. You are a sugar addict so you should abstain from not just sugar but everything that’s sweet including all artificial sweeteners and milk products. Be aware that there are 75 different names for sugar so read your food labels carefully for those hidden sugars. There are those who are not addicts and can moderate but if you can’t then you must stay away from it. I can drink one beer and not touch another one for several years. It doesn’t bother me but I’m not an alcoholic. I just choose not to drink anything that is loaded with carbs. Make your choice what is best for you and your health. My choice was no sweeteners whatsoever. I don’t need the temptation. If you’ll give it at least 30 days I think you could kick the addiction. I’ve heard some do it in two weeks. 5 pointsWell that’s just so ignorant on several levels. There is no way on this green earth that being carnivore for only 11 months could possibly cause a heart attack. Absolute bovine excrement. It takes a lifetime of bad eating and poor health to set up the circumstances within the body to cause a heart attack. Some people can be more susceptible to heart disease due to their dna but even then it only means that they will probably contract CVD at an earlier age. There has never, in the history of mankind, ever been a single study that proves that eating what man has always eaten from nearly the beginning of time causes CVD. Your heart attack was not caused by eating carnivore. While it could be a dna deficiency it was most likely due to the diet you have eaten all of the years preceding carnivore. If you want to lower your cholesterol it’s your business and I’ll support you in your efforts but there is no reason to do it. Every study where they tried to prove that cholesterol caused CVD ended up showing just the opposite. In fact they all showed that those with lower cholesterol experienced more all cause mortality than those with higher cholesterol. There is no correlation between high cholesterol and heart attacks. I’m not just talking out my rear here, I practice what I preach. I’ve been carnivore for over two years now. In that time I have reversed my heart issues and my cardiologist has taken me off all of my heart medications and only wants me to come in once a year for a check up now. He actually loves what I’m doing with my diet and my health.5 points- New to Carnivore

5 pointsI have cooked with both ... or maybe I should say all three - uh, all four Let me explain: I have a cast iron skillet that is at least 75 years old and has had the same seasoning on it for over 40 years. I use it often and prefer it for many things. When it comes to stainless steel, that video only covered one type of stainless cookware. He was cooking on an induction burner. That requires the bottom of the pan/pot to be magnetic. Good quality stainless (high nickel content) is not magnetic. So, an actual non-clad stainless pan will not work on the induction burner. Likewise, there is also copper bottom stainless cookware. Again, that will not work on an induction burner. The pan he was using was "clad" on the bottom, giving it a "heavy" bottom. The clad material has less nickel and can operate on the induction burner since the lower nickel content will allow it to be magnetic. Whatever that pan was clad with is what gave it the heat holding attributes, nit the pan being stainless. Cast iron is magnetic. For this test to be accurate, he should have used a gas burner and each of the three types of stainless pans as well as the cast iron pan. I have cooked in an actual stainless non-clad pan as well as copper bottom and clad stainless. I like stainless. I like it for browning and cooking ground beef as well as some other things. However, for cooking "flat meat" (non-ground) like a steak, I refer the cast iron.5 points- What Did You Eat Today?

5 pointsWelcome. I too had a garden. If one is to give carnivore a chance, at least give it 90 days. It may take that long to get fat adapted and see most of the benefits. I loved my food too, and thought how ridiculous that sounded. We are programmed to love food thinking somehow we are a "foodie" a life enjoyer sipping wine at the French riviera.... we're addicted to sugar, period. With such a paradigm shift, yes, then one can still decide to go Paleo, or Keto, or any variation you like. But first give it the time it deserves, and allow your view on what food really is (hint, it's fuel, that's it), and make a decision from there. Most likely, much of the pain -the thing we are willing to put us through for the "love" of food- may have subsided and give you an entirely new perspective on diet, etc.5 points- Post a picture... Welcome Megan, you’ve got a great support group here. Having an addiction to carbs is just like any other addiction. You have to be determined to beat it. You have to be stronger than the addiction. Just like an alcoholic or drug addict you have to fight it one day at a time. Start with today. Stay clean for just today. You will feel so victorious when the day ends and you go to bed. When the new day starts then you start all over again and just get through that day. You do this every day anew and before you know it your addiction is gone. The physical addiction is easy to beat but the mental addiction is the tough one because it lasts longer than the physical. So to beat that you have to have a strong mental game. I new to adopt the mindset that you cannot fail. No matter what, you will not fail. You can do this girl and we’re here to support you any way we can. Good luck and stay strong. 5 pointsI hope you can kick your sweetener and dairy addictions. I quit all sweeteners for 6 weeks and that managed to put a stop to a 20 year Diet Pepsi addiction I had. What used to be an irresistibly delicious beverage for me turned into a disgusting chemical cocktail. Now I don't crave sweet drinks and enjoy unsweetened, naturally flavored sparkling water. Excellent blood pressure! I am still struggling to get mine down.5 points - Body composition with carnivore weight loss
