7 pointsO Lord, lead me in Thy righteousness because of my foes; make Thy way straight before me. There is nothing reliable in what they say; their inward part is destruction itself; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue. Hold them guilty, O God . . . for they are rebellious against Thee. But let all who take refuge in Thee be glad, let them ever sing for joy; and mayest Thou shelter them, that those who love Thy name may exult in Thee. For it is Thou who dost bless the righteous man, O LORD, Thou dost surround him with favor as with a shield. —PSALM 5:8-12 I hope and pray that this doesn’t sound blasphemous but when reading this during my devotional I just couldn’t help but apply this to our daily journey as carnivores. It resonates with me in how we deal with those who rail against us in our WOE be it doctors, scientists, family or the general public. I’m afraid this sounds like I’m trying to make this WOE a religion, I’m not, but I constantly find how scriptures constantly apply to us in everything we do. After all the word bible is a wonderful acronym. Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth7 points -

Hello New from Gulf Breeze FL
7 pointsHello everyone, very glad to be here and find this community. I have been looking into Carnivore for quite a while, pretty much understood what it is a lifestyle. I started last week, so almost a week, and adjusting my eating habits throw-out as I go. I gave up soda and all that 15 years ago, have been drinking lots of water since then. One thing I was doing was having Dunkin donuts coffee bottled mocha. I haven't had one in almost a week, and the cravings for chocolate and coffee are going away. I absolutely love steak, meat all that and with the butter, but I do like salads (not given in to eating the vegetables or lettuce). Just simple, meat, eggs, butter, and water and of course salt. I have been watching Dr Barry, Dr Shawn Baker, Dr letterman, Old Guy Carnivore and much more. For me a lot of this make sense, I love history especially the past, and I know looking back humans did not eat the way we eat today, especially with all the additives and progression of the food industry. I am excited about my new journey, and I already am starting to see some changes, sleep, headaches and most important is my low blood sugar, I usually have to eat every so often, they always tell me always take candy with you in case your busy and it goes down. But I never would I always just run for protein, like a burger, chicken, chicken tenders, or something like that, and of course I felt better, so for me this made sense. I also have an issue with IBS and I have noticed that recently my tummy is much better. Thank you, nice to meet you all. Do you all have a group's that meet up? Melissa7 points

7 pointsQuick recap. 90+ days in and I stopped pain and inflammation medicine in May. No issues. I lost 54lbs thus far. My daily/across the board energy levels are higher than they have been in a lot of years. I'm getting to the gym and walking on my days off. I noticed sort of early on I was sleeping much better but maybe the big difference is when I wake up it is like a switch. Bam, eyes open ready to go immediately. Which leads to some weirdness. I was in the military and one of the things learned in the military is to sleep when you can. I can remember a 15-minute power nap feeling like an 8-hour snooze fest. You also learned to tune a lot out. I slept in a torpedo room on a nuclear-powered sub and slept thru firing torpedoes. I slept thru Hurricane Fran and walked outside to a different planet. My wife can vacuum in the bedroom, and I won't be bothered. But with that said, since those military days all you have to do is say my name and I pop tall ready to go. Since my 20's I have been able to sleep thru anything except my name. Everything the same after carnivore except we had a dog emergency the other night and my wife was yelling my name from the living room, and I never heard it. She came to the door and did the same/ She said I never flinched. The next night she had to actually touch me to wake me up. I have been sleeping really well since the switch, but I didn't know I was a couple hairs away from a coma. LOL. I am not complaining but do find it weird. Scott7 points -

7 pointsLove me some corned beef but I’ve never had it from a can. I’m thinking I need to cook one up now. Spent all morning mowing on my father in law’s place then all afternoon cooking. Got a half gallon of yogurt started. That’ll be done tomorrow. Then I started smoking 12 pounds of bacon and a couple of baby back ribs. The bacon is being chilled for slicing tomorrow and the ribs were fantastic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk7 points

6 points6 points- Body composition with carnivore weight loss
Today is 7 months since I started Carnivore. This morning, I tipped the scales at 223lbs which is 83lbs less than 7 months ago. I have not taken pain medicine nor inflammation medicine since late May/early June. I have Neuromyelitis Spectrum Disorder (basically Multiple Sclerosis but attacks the optic nerves). Other than a couple bouts with some bath room issues, I have only positives. The last month I have bounced around 76-79lbs lost. During that same time I dropped pant size for 40 to 38. Lost inches with pounds basically remaining the same. My weight loss has been erratic yet consistent, if that makes sense. The first thirty pounds came off pretty much a pound a day but from there it has been drops, mini-stalls/stabilize, then drops. I was on 79 a couple different time last week and week before but never actually touching 80. 4lb drop from yesterday til today. No change in diet, actually eating more as of late. At 55 I'm increasing the work in the gym and hoping to build some muscle/off set age related muscle loss as well as knowing it is the best defense against the muscle issues with NMO/SD. 7 months and I have pretty much nothing but positives. So much so, my wife is starting tomorrow. I am hoping this is the biggest positive yet. Scott6 points- CHECK YOUR BUTTER.....

6 pointsHi! I'm Amber. I have been on various low carb diets before with quite a bit of success, but in all of those successes, it was when I severely limited even veggies that I found myself feeling the best. So, after gaining all and more back, I decided maybe adding all of those "safe carbs" back was a bad idea, and it was a gateway to definitely NOT safe carbs that I started craving! My first week I had some decent headaches, but only one migraine day and I consider that an absolute success. It has become obvious to me in the last couple years that sugar greatly exacerbates my migraines. I am doing classic carnivore, so meats, dairy, and some spices, coffee, and tea. I am going to try to slowly wean myself off of those extras. I have cut many of the spices already. I weightlift 3 times a week, full body. I have been doing that for years off and on, so I am not adding any extra exercise. I also hike with a backpack with my husband on some weekends. I joined a forum because it seems that I do the best when I can actually read other peoples' trials and successes and interact with people doing the same thing, and I don't think the forums on My Fitness Pal go any further than keto. I've been off all since starting the Carnivore life and my depression and anxiety have been healed. I thank God. Amazing. Incredible. Since then I've also quit smoking/vaping (43 years) and lost 33 lbs and life has just been really good. I look forward to learning more and meeting my fellow Carneys! 6 pointsI have been on the diet 90 days as of today. I had some immunoglobulin blood work done earlier in the week and the results just posted. My Immunoglobulin A numbers were still high at 388 (signs of infection and inflammation from an underlying illness) and my IM m numbers were low (51) which is actually improved from May. I have had nothing but the positives of the carnivore diet the first 90 days so there are zero complaints. I thought i would see a better number on the 'infections and inflammation' IMG a because I have not had to use any pain nor anti-inflammatory medicines since May. (Knocking on wood) I have not been sick since way early in the year. The IMG m number showed improvement, but I guess part of me was swinging for the fences. LOL My Vitamin D numbers jumped considerably to normal. I have been taking Vitamin D supplements for the longest and the numbers just lulled around really low. That is a plus. I think I am going to go with 'it has only been 90 days' and go from there. 52lbs and pain free within the first 90 days is not too shabby. There will be another set in November. Like with everything, time will tell. Scott6 points- One week weigh in

6 pointsRobert, you are an addict. An addict must abstain from their drug of choice. It don matter if it’s alcohol, heroin, tobacco or sugar. I once quit dipping snuff for two years but I though just one dip wouldn’t hurt. Bam! I was hooked all over again. It was nine years before I tried quitting again. I’ve been clean of tobacco for 18 years now but I know that I can never allow tobacco in any form ever touch me again or I’ll be hooked all over again There’s no such thing as moderation. An alcoholic can’t just have a beer. A heroin addict can’t just smoke a joint. You are a sugar addict so you should abstain from not just sugar but everything that’s sweet including all artificial sweeteners and milk products. Be aware that there are 75 different names for sugar so read your food labels carefully for those hidden sugars. There are those who are not addicts and can moderate but if you can’t then you must stay away from it. I can drink one beer and not touch another one for several years. It doesn’t bother me but I’m not an alcoholic. I just choose not to drink anything that is loaded with carbs. Make your choice what is best for you and your health. My choice was no sweeteners whatsoever. I don’t need the temptation. If you’ll give it at least 30 days I think you could kick the addiction. I’ve heard some do it in two weeks. Who’s stronger, you or the sugar? [emoji2955] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk6 points- What Did You Eat Today?

And then Sunday, a family reunion on my wife's side, where I was able to have hot dogs and hamburger patties. When I purged our kitchen and fridge of all the crap nutrition I figured if it's no good for me, then it's not good for anyone else either. All the grains and spices went in our compost pit. All the sweet stuff was dumped on the lawn for the wildlife to consume and all the bad oils were used to light our fire pit. And after the purge our cabinets were bare! There is still a small container of real sugar in our house, BUT that is used for the hummingbird nectar that I make up during the summer.5 points- Cravings.

Massive group but great time. I should have taken up checkers instead of hot rods and motor sports. Scott5 points- Cast Iron Pan VS Stainless Steel Pan
5 pointsI have cooked with both ... or maybe I should say all three - uh, all four Let me explain: I have a cast iron skillet that is at least 75 years old and has had the same seasoning on it for over 40 years. I use it often and prefer it for many things. When it comes to stainless steel, that video only covered one type of stainless cookware. He was cooking on an induction burner. That requires the bottom of the pan/pot to be magnetic. Good quality stainless (high nickel content) is not magnetic. So, an actual non-clad stainless pan will not work on the induction burner. Likewise, there is also copper bottom stainless cookware. Again, that will not work on an induction burner. The pan he was using was "clad" on the bottom, giving it a "heavy" bottom. The clad material has less nickel and can operate on the induction burner since the lower nickel content will allow it to be magnetic. Whatever that pan was clad with is what gave it the heat holding attributes, nit the pan being stainless. Cast iron is magnetic. For this test to be accurate, he should have used a gas burner and each of the three types of stainless pans as well as the cast iron pan. I have cooked in an actual stainless non-clad pan as well as copper bottom and clad stainless. I like stainless. I like it for browning and cooking ground beef as well as some other things. However, for cooking "flat meat" (non-ground) like a steak, I refer the cast iron.5 points- What Did You Eat Today?

5 pointsI could count on one hand the number of cups of coffee I have had my entire life even if that hand was amputated. Even though my parents were heavy coffee drinkers, they were of a mind that children should not drink coffee so I never drank any. When I was grown and tried it, a mouthful was plenty enough to spit out and know I didn't like it. I used to drink unsweet iced tea in vast amounts until I discovered the knotting I was getting in my arms and legs were from the tannins ... so I gave up tea and I never did drink wine. I am fine with the original drink with no sweeteners, colors or flavors added, natural or artificial, and I get it for free ... it comes right out of our well and my brother pays for the electricity to run the pump 🙂 I find that if you don't dwell on what you can't eat or are giving up and dwell on what you can eat, it is much easier to eliminate various things from your diet.5 points- What Did You Eat Today?

When I first started reading and watching videos on the positive affects of carnivore in the MS community I was absolutely blown away. Another 'who woulda thunk it?' for me. I read so many stories that were somewhere between miraculous and too good to be true. I'm somewhere between 'gotta give it time' and 'hopes at a higher level'. Probably more 'it has only been 90 days. I think 52 pounds and no pain medicine is way more than I would have ever expected and my story would be the one I read and said, "Really?". LOL As of late I am shifting a little more toward red meat but not totally abandoning other proteins. (Tonight was leg quarters on the smoker) Tomorrow night is rib eyes and shrimp for a little get together in the cabin. Babbling a bit, but the first 90 days was maybe a tad more red meat but all in all maybe half in half. I am also wondering if the lean toward red meat will show better results than the half and half approach. Like most things, time will tell. I'll occasionally get a "pizza bowl" if the wife is buying pizza for everyone else that night (complete with the tomato sauce). I personally do not fund pizza purchase, lol 😄 I've become very fond of lamb. I'll get ground lamb, lamb chops, and the lamb ribs. Sam's sells a 5lb leg of lamb that I haven't got yet, but should.
