Integrity Stands on Principle “And the king appointed for them a daily ration from the king’s choice food and from the wine which he drank, and appointed that they should be educated three years, at the end of which they were to enter the king’s personal service. . . . But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the king’s choice food or with the wine which he drank; so he sought permission from the commander of the officials that he might not defile himself” (Daniel 1:5,8). Godly integrity is built upon the foundation of biblical authority. From the world’s perspective, King Nebuchadnezzar had much to offer his Hebrew captives: the best food, the best education, and high positions in his kingdom. But Daniel’s perspective was quite different. He did not object to receiving a pagan education because God had given no direct prohibition against that, and a Babylonian education had much to offer in the areas of architecture and science. But as with anyone receiving a secular education, Daniel would have to exercise discernment in sorting out the true from the false and the good from the bad. It was when Daniel was asked to violate a direct command from God that he drew the line and took his stand on biblical principle. That’s the character of godly integrity. It bases decisions on the principles from God’s Word, not on mere preference, intimidation, or peer pressure. Seemingly Daniel had every reason to compromise: he was young, away from home, and facing severe consequences if he defied the king’s order. Yet he was unwavering in his obedience to God. Although Daniel couldn’t obey the king’s order, he handled the situation in a wise and respectful manner by seeking permission to abstain from eating what God had forbidden. From his example we learn that standing on principle will sometimes put us at odds with those in authority over us, but even then we can love and respect them. Wow! When I was reading this in my devotional this morning it spoke to me not only in how we live our daily lives but I really saw how this relates to how we approach our nutrition. When I adopted this WOE it became my lifestyle and I made a commitment to it in a similar way that I have a commitment to God. I must constantly filter through the information we receive on health and nutrition to discern what is good and bad. When presented with an opportunity to violate my commitment to my body I have to rely on my integrity to that commitment. When traveling, going out or meeting with friends and family I still must be principled and unwavering in my commitment to my health. Just as I’m committed to my Savior I’m committed to my health. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. (1 Corinthians 6:19, ESV)
  4. My opinion is it’s a plant derivative that isn’t needed for our nutrition but that’s easy to say coming from someone who has given it up. For those who are still addicted to coffee or tea it’s life. Many carnivores, probably most, have no problems with it but it’s not optimal and just because one is tolerant of the toxins doesn’t mean they aren’t doing some harm in some way. Whole I was struggling with Crohn’s disease (pre carni) my gastroenterologist had me get off of coffee and I did for a month. After a started carnivore and cured my Crohn’s I tried coffee again and found I had lost my taste for it so I switched to tea. I still felt the need for that morning caffeine hit. One morning I noticed that I was out of tea so I fixed a cup of coffee. Not only did it not taste good but it made me sick to my stomach for three days. I’ll never drink it again. I drank tea for almost a year but eventually decided that it was just another plant that I didn’t need in my diet and it was the last addiction I had in my life so I decided it was finally time to completely free myself of the last plant and the last thing that had control over me. Well that’s not entirely true. My Lord and my wife still have control over me but thanks a good thing.
  5. Welcome to our group Nani. We’re glad you could join us. I’m sorry to hear that you are struggling. It’s hard to say definitively what the issue might be but with only being a month in your gut may still be transitioning. When you were keto you still had carbs to support the gut biome that fed on the sugars but when you go to a zero carb all meat diet that original biome has to change. That may be your gut rebelling against you at the moment. Unless there’s something else going on it should pass. Not having a gallbladder may be part of the equation as well. I don’t have a gallbladder either and I believe it caused me some issues in the beginning but they were different from yours. Many people with no gallbladders never experience a problem but we are all different so we have to find our own path. Now some people without gallbladders find help with taking an ox bile supplement. It did nothing for me but it might help you. My issue was constipation but some magnesium complex supplements helped me and after about a year my body straightened itself out. I stuck with it because the benefits I saw made it worthwhile to power though and find solutions until things adjusted. If I were you I’d give it some more time and if things don’t start getting better you might possibly add some carbs back in and then slowly transition back into carnivore over time. Not everyone can just jump right in with both feet. If nothing else works you may need to see a doctor. Good luck and good health.

  7. Welcome to the group Inky and thank you for you’re service Marine. What you are experiencing doesn’t sound normal to me. Most people do just fine with the electrolytes. The thing is that many of us when we start this WOE start using electrolytes because we hear that’s what we should do but that’s not always the BM best approach. Everyone is different and this lifestyle affects us each differently. Many long term carnivores do well taking LMNT or KetoChow but when I did them it threw my electrolyte balance out of wack. It took my potassium levels too high for someone who has a heart condition so I quit taking them. My levels are normal now without doing anything but salting my food and occasionally salting my water. Now the way I found this out was with a blood test. If I had continued on with what I was doing just because others were doing it could have stopped my heart. Only the blood test told me what was needed. So be careful and first listen to your body. Don’t take any supplements unless you’re body is telling you that you need something. Don’t compare yourself to others. If you feel off then get a blood test and see if something is wrong. Since you are just starting out I would just make sure you are eating plenty of fatty meat, salt your food to taste and drink water. You will probably experience some adverse reactions from changing your diet but just deal with it. It will pass soon. Good luck

  9. Melt in your mouth would be up to the cut of meat. When smoking a steak you only smoke it long enough to bring it to the temperature you like your steaks. I only took these to 130°. The intent is to just infuse the steak with that smokey goodness. Now tougher cuts of meat like brisket and pork butt need that long smoke to tenderize the meat.
  10. @Miranda & @Scott F. are spot on Rose. It’s more of a psychological thing that anything. You may experience some physical issues with your gut or inflammation but of course that will pass. It has probably knocked you out of ketosis and it may take a few days to get that started back up but as long as you jumped right back into carnivore that’s no big deal. You may experience some weight gain. I’ve heard of people gaining 5 pounds or more from just one indulgence. Again, not the end of the world but be aware that it can take several weeks for your body to readjust and start losing that weight again. What’s important here is that you need to forget the mistake but remember the lesson. Re examine why you got started on carnivore in the first place and recommit to this lifestyle. It’s never worth tossing away all of the hard work to get where you are now for a momentary pleasure. You’ve got this.
  11. Smoked four ribeyes today. Didn’t want to eat a whole one so I just had a snack of about a third of one sliced and eaten on an Egglife wrap.

  13. Actually vegetable oil was never a failure as a diesel fuel. In fact the diesel engine was designed to run on peanut oil and it did very well. It only down side was cold weather but even petroleum diesel struggles with cold weather without cetain additives. It was very popular for awhile to go around to the fast food places and get their used fry oils and make diesel fuel to run our pickups on. What killed that is they wanted to start charging to take the oil. So much for cutting costs.
  14. Ok so I tried ol’hilly’s idea of boiled catfish. Instead of just boiling it in plain water I boiled it in crawfish seasoning. I think I may have used too much seasoning because it was too strong for my wife but it was perfect for me. Squeezed some lemon on the fish and dipped it in melted butter. It was good. Can’t compare it to lobster but it was still tasty. I ate some for breakfast around noon today. That wasn’t satisfying enough so I heated up some ribeye fat bits and that did the trick. Now I’m smoking four ribeyes as I’m typing.
  15. That alone should tell you all you need to know of the benefits of eating a proper human diet. It should also tell you of what would happen if you ever go back to eating the way you used to. So you may want to rethink about not eating this way for life because this is a lifestyle not a diet. You will reverse all of your progress if you done maintain it. But…as Bob said and I agree with him, when you get to a maintenance stage and you’ve got the carb addiction licked you can indulge occasionally but you just don’t want to make a habit of it. The only thing I’m allowing into my diet these days is a few jalapeños occasionally and some seasonings. As long as they don’t affect me I’m fine with them. If you do stick with this long enough you may even get to a point where you just don’t want that other stuff anymore. Many of us come to that point. For me I see no point in eating them because the don’t provide and nutrition. Could I? Yes. Will I? No, there’s no need to. I don’t miss the sweets and carbs one bit.
  16. Your body goes through changes as you progress. Getting hungrier than normal could very well be a signal that you didn't have enough fat to burn for energy. I know my hunger increased when I starting getting really low on body fat.

Now the term fear in this Proverb is speaking of a reverential awe and admiring, submissive fear is foundational for all spiritual knowledge and wisdom. It’s a humbleness that brings one to search for the truth and those who choose not to humbly seek out the truth will cast out those truths and in so doing be seen as fools. So, how can we apply this to ourselves in our daily journey in the carnivore lifestyle? I think it’s quite simple, educate ourselves in the truths that are carnivore. Do the research. Read the studies. Several people on this forum post some really good studies that bear reading. Read the books that support our lifestyle and tell the truth about the pharmaceutical and big food industry. The more you know, the wiser you will be and the more confident you will be and that confidence will push out the fears and doubt that you may have about this WOE. One of the things I see a lot of fear in people about who are keto/carnivore is high cholesterol. The evidence is there that shows that we’ve been lied to for a long time and that high cholesterol has nothing to do with cardiovascular disease. I was on a statin for years until I learned the truth about statins and high cholesterol so now I no longer have any fear about cholesterol because I’m now wiser in that knowledge. We can have a genuine fear in that we are too afraid to help ourselves or we can have a reverent fear of seeking the truth so that we can take care of these bodies that the good Lord gave us.

  20. Carnivore. Carnivore is not about eating meat. Carnivore is a mindset. It’s a mindset that we adapt to our physiology and our psyche that we will only put into our bodies that which provides the utmost nutrition for us. We make up our minds that while a particular food, whether it be a vegetable, grain or something sweet, may taste good to us, it just doesn’t provide any benefit. We have one food that provides all of the nutrients needed for human survival and that is meat. Why eat anything else? The only reason would be for pleasure. You have a desire to put aside nutrition for a moment of pleasure and nutrition is not your top priority. So for those that struggle or get off track, you might want to examine your mindset, your priorities, what you want for your life. Do you want to Do Carnivore or do you want to Be Carnivore? It is a mindset. If you consider plants, sugar or alcohol as a toxic substances to your body, the question becomes: do you moderate the poison dosage or avoid putting it in the body? That is my mindset. I know these are not good for me, so unless it's unintentional, I am abstaining from all sources of it
  21. It’s difficult to say because we don’t know exactly how you are eating but yes it could just be a faze. It could very well be that you have used up your glycogen stores and your body is needing fuel to burn but hasn’t completely become fat adapted yet. Generally when we have hunger issues early on in our carnivore journey it’s because we are still craving carbs and we need to subdue those cravings by eating more fatty meat. In the beginning don’t be afraid to eat. That’s one of the great beauties of this way we eat that we don’t have to restrict food as long as it’s the right food. Satisfy your hunger. Eventually your body will settle down and become fat adapted and start functioning the way it was always meant to be. In the meantime, welcome to our group Iceman. Other than that, how are you getting along with carnivore. Improvements? Setbacks?

  23. I don’t know of any studies on osteoporosis in regards to carnivore but I would imagine that a diet that rich in nutrients like carnivore would be beneficial. I wouldn’t think it could hurt. Hypercholesterolemia is a normal condition for almost all carnivores. It’s a state we live in and we know that it’s a natural thing and healthy for us. There are numerous studies on it but you have to be careful which ones you want to believe in because most of them are agenda driven to promote a plant based diet. Studies such as the The Minnesota Coronary Experiment 1968-1973,was the largest ever randomized controlled trial on the Diet Heart Hypothesis that lasted over 4 1/2 years. 9,000 men and women divided by half eating saturated fat and the other vegetable (seed) oils. Both groups had the same amount of fat and it showed no differences in cardiovascular events or cardiovascular deaths but did notice that cancer was a lot higher in the low fat group. There has never been a RCT that proves cholesterol causes cardiovascular disease.
  24. Welcome Nassim. We are glad you could join us. As to your first problem. You are having cravings because you have not gotten over your carb addiction yet. It can take time and even after you get over the physical cravings you can still have physiological cravings. On the physical side you aren’t eating enough fatty meat. Any time you get the urge to eat something you shouldn’t eat then eat some fatty meat. I always have hard boiled eggs handy or cooked bacon. There’s always some meat cooked in the fridge that I can grab as a snack if I need to. Generally if you eat enough at your regular meal you should be satiated until it’s time to eat again. That’s why so many of us end up eating OMAD. It’s all about getting your mind right. You’ve got to be committed to eating this way for life and you got to be determined not to fail. Now your second problem. You said “ I need my ldl tobe low mandatory medical for work”. I’m not too sure what you’re talking about there. Are you saying that it’s a condition of employment that your LDL be low? I’ve never heard of anything so draconian in my life. It’s nobody’s business but yours what your number are if that’s what your saying. Those numbers are totally arbitrary anyways and mean nothing. If that is the case then you are in trouble because as a carnivore your cholesterol is going to go up. It has to because as you are fueling your body with fat in the form of ketones there will naturally be more cholesterol running around your veins. It inevitable. In my opinion you cannot maintain a carnivore lifestyle and eat fruit and it’s definitely not going to allow you to get over your addiction to carbs and the cravings. Now you can go Keto and that allows you to eat fruit as long as you keep the carbs under 20 grams but I personally don’t believe the fructose is good for you. You would be better off eating leafy greens rather than fruit in my opinion. Yes you can maintain moderation but if you struggle now with it on carnivore do you think you can do it on Keto? I the end you just have to experiment. We are all different and you need to eat in a way that works for you. I think that if this is too difficult for you or you you feel the need to reintroduce something to your diet then I think you should try it and see what happens just be prepared to go back to eliminating that food if it doesn’t work out.
