  1. Welcome Nick. I’m glad you joined us. I’d be curious to know what your carnivore diet consisted of. Yes the rash could have been oxalate dumping, that seems to be the go to response in those situations but it could also have been an allergic reaction or histamine response to something. For some people who have some food sensitivities the Lion Diet is more suitable. I experienced some rashes on a couple of different occasions but mine weren’t as severe as yours sound like and mine went away after a week or two. The energy running low sounds like the classic “not getting enough fat” or “not eating enough”. While I don’t have this great burst of energy that many talk about I do have a sustained energy that allows me to goo all day. Again, without knowing how you are it’s hard to try to evaluate what might have been the issue. You seem to have a sensible mind and understanding of what is needed for a healthy diet so if you were eating a proper human diet and following carnivore correctly (that of course is relative to the individual) then it’s possible that eating a strict carnivore diet may not be right for you. Not everyone is cut out for this way of eating as their bodies do better with a little carbs in their lifestyle. For people who need some carbs in their diet we recommend that those carbs consist of whole vegetables in the form of green, above ground veggies. Stay away from starchy vegetables, seeds, seed oils and sugars except for the occasional fruit with berries being the best. Regardless of whether you call it The Sugar Diet, Fructose Diet or Fruitarian Diet, the majority of people cannot sustain a healthy life consuming large quantities of sugars or fructose. Besides risking diabetes, fatty liver disease , inflammation, cancer, fat storage and overall poor metabolic health it’s just not sustainable for the long term in my opinion. There is no nutritional requirement for carbs in our bodies and we know that all carbs consumed are metabolized as sugar or glucose in our bodies. So since that is the case it would seem to me that adding some vegetables to the diet would be better than just sugar or fructose. I personally believe that this whole sugar diet craze is nothing more than an excuse to not give into our sugar addictions. No society in the history of mankind has ever eating anything like the sugar diet so it seems pretty silly to me to start something new now. Please don’t get me wrong, I’m not judging you or what you are trying in the least, it’s just not my thing. I think it’s great when people experiment and try different things. I follow Nick Norwitz and get a kick out of his N of 1 experiments. I wish you the best of luck and look forward to hearing all about your results.
  2. Welcome to Carnivore Talk Lee. We are glad you could join us. To start with, try to remember that we are all individuals and can have different experiences with our diet. With having different physiology's what one experiences another may not in the same manner. You are still very new into this WOE (Way Of Eating) and you may not be fully adapted yet. Some people adapt very quickly while others take some time. Most of us go through a period of lethargy while our body uses up all of the stored glycogen and transitions over to using ketones or fat for fuel. There can often be a lag in that process. In my case I never really notice a big difference right away in mood. It was a gradual thing that I noticed I just wasn’t getting as angry or worked up over little things anymore. I can’t say for sure when I noticed it as it was so gradual. My energy did pick up in about 30 days or so but nothing dramatic. I noticed that I woke up earlier and easier. I didn’t have this overwhelming desire to be constantly moving or anything but I did notice that I had a sustained energy. I could work longer with no fatigue. I can’t say that I’ve noticed any difference in mental clarity. Maybe I was never lacking to begin with. So, give it time. It may just take you longer and it may come on so gradually that you hardly notice. Just be patient. Also, don’t cheat. Cheating causes setbacks and makes your body go in reverse and have to recover. That certainly doesn’t help. Stay pure at least 90 days. BTW, I don’t know if age has anything to do with it but I suspect it may. I’m in my late 60’s so if you are younger then your experience might be totally different.
  3. No I did not but I need to try them.
  4. 10 scrambled eggs and a couple of hearty slices of venison summer sausage.
  5. Carb Manager seems to be a popular one.
  6. My money is on the carnivores to win. We have the evidence on our side.
  7. I could s**t over a six rail fence.
  8. Been there done that. It’s hard to take sometimes Whoever does not receive you, nor heed your words, as you go out of that house or that city, shake the dust off your feet. (Matthew 10:14, NASB)
  9. One pound of boiled shrimp. Two pounds of crawfish. That wasn’t enough so when I got home I had some liverwurst and some pork butt.
  10. It’s hard to say if that’s oxalates or not but I developed some splotches like that at around 4-6 months. They’d clear up and then come back in the same place a couple of months later. Mine would happen on my wrists and forearms. I just assumed it was oxalates but I don’t know. I’m two years in now and it’s been at least a year since I’ve had any rashes.
  11. Some venison burger, the last of it I’m afraid. Some venison backstrap, a slice of Carni bread and four eggs. This evening I made 2 pounds of liverwurst out of lamb liver and I just put a pork butt in the crockpot for mañana.
  12. If you are zero carb you are in ketosis. Just because your numbers aren’t high doesn’t indicate you aren’t in ketosis. When you become fat adapted your ketone levels can come down because your body has gotten so used to being in ketosis that it’s become efficient now at using the ketones and not wasting them. There is no reason for your body to produce any larger quantity of ketones than what your tissues actually need. And once you become “fat-adapted” they need less and less because it is not being wasted. It can vary for everyone. It lasted 30 days for me. I’ve heard of some people only dealing with it for a couple of weeks and others a couple of months. I think the average is about one month. It’s hard to say exactly. You may just need more time but if it doesn’t clear up in the next couple of weeks then look at your fat ratio. I thrive on a 70/30 fat to protein ratio but some do better on 80/20 or 60/40. We are all individuals so what works for one may not work for you. You need to be your own N of 1 and experiment. Adjust your fat over a one or two week period and see if anything changes. The type of fat can make a difference in different people. Some find that liquid fat can run through them like crap through a goose and do better with solid fats. Welcome to Carnivore Talk Troy. We are glad you joined us.
  13. Yeah I don’t even own a computer. I have access to my mother in law’s laptop but I barely know how to use it. 🥴
  14. I don’t generally workout hard but I do prefer to eat afterwards. Your soreness may not be food related. You may be lacking in electrolytes.
  15. This old ignorant red neck has no idea whachyall are talking about. [emoji1787] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Yes it’s really simple. Just three ingredients. I used some cinnamon in mine and it wasn’t eggy tasting and I couldn’t taste the pork rind panko. It did come out very moist which made it hard to toast I had to run it through my toaster twice at the highest setting to get it to toast. It would probably be easier to just pan fry it. I liked it enough that I’ll be making it again but I’ll try using just one stick of butter next time.
  17. 3-2-1 is the best way to go. Mine come out good every time.
  18. You can educate the ignorant and medicated the crazy but you can’t fix stupid.
  19. If your doctor wants you to eat low fat then he/she knows nothing about keto and even less about carnivore. I wouldn’t take a statin simply because they do nothing for you and only produce side effects.
  20. You’ve pretty much got to wait things out as your body adapts. You may experience some gastrointestinal issues for a month or so. Gassiness shouldn’t last long. It’s common for most carnivores to be gastrointestinal free since there are no longer any vegetation fermenting in their guts anymore. Your #2’s should be less frequent and smaller because you are no longer ingesting a bunch of food that can’t be digested and fills up your gut non-absorbable plant matter. Since meat is the most nutrient dense food you can eat the majority of it is absorbed into your body so there is little to expel and what you do expel tends to be dead cells. Give it 30 days and you should start seeing changes for the better.
